Match report Rugby 7s Norges Cup round 3 – Stavanger 14/04/2018

A slightly delayed match report, but here it is nonetheless. BRK sent a squad of 9 players down to Stavanger for the first rugby 7s tournament of the year. The sun came out, and a lovely 17 degrees was feeling almost tropical. The Hordaland rugby camp where BRK and BSI set up with gazebos and flags, created a great atmosphere for the travelling players and supporters. The day started with a tough encounter against the host team Stavanger. A very new squad for Bergen with 4 uncapped players making their debut. BRK were undone mostly through poor handling errors. Unable to keep posession, Stavanger were dominant. BRK must have forgotten to wash the sunscreen off their hands… A platform to build from for the rest of the tournament. HUS vs FANA pre-season game 05/04/2018 The first competitive game of 2018 for BRK saw a run out between Bergen Hus vs Fana RK – tense moments were had as the boundary lines were drawn on the map to decide the player pools. The excitement of competitive rugby must have run deep within Hordaland as several of the older BRK Norge rugby champions coming out of the woodwork to flaunt their rugby talents once again. There have been no competitive games since October 2017, a drought of almost 6 months! Everyone was eager to play! Message from the President Welcome to another exciting year of rugby! For the 2018 year there has been a change in the coaching team. Ian Irving, after many years of service, has stepped down as Head Coach. I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for all his years of service and hard work for the club. Ian hasn’t only worked on the coaching side for the club but has also made a huge contribution behind the scenes. All the great artwork that supports BRK is the product of his design skills and again the club is extremely grateful for his time, skills and effort as our creative designer. Thank you. Training for the 2018 season has started! Get yourselves down to Krohnsminde every Tuesday from 19.50- ~21.10 for pre-season training! We encourage everyone to join! Movembertournament 2017

On the last Saturday of Movember, we hosted the annual Movember tag tournament, it was a great tournout with a total of around 70 participants attending. Everyone could try out both tag rugby and have a roll in wheelchairugby. We also had several team dress up, notably both the rednecks from Dukes of Hazard, BabyBoks and a tribute to the late Hugh Hefner form Hefnalompene. The winner of the dress up was Despicable Mo’s whos attention to detail and creativity saw them run away with giftcards to Sumo Restaurants. Some lucky winners also ran away with locally sourced biltong from Voss! Winners of the senior tournament were BabyBoks!

Hva skjer i Bergen? Rugbyactivites in Bergen!

Sesongen går mot slutten, men det er likevel mye rugby igjen! Seniorene tar turen til Stavanger og spiller om uoffisiell 3. plass i serien mot Blindern neste helg og det er studentmesterskap i Bergen neste fredag for å nevne noe. Under er en oversikt over noen av datoene, håper å se deg der! I dag (8. oktober) tar Norge imot Finland på Bislett kl 14:00! 14. oktober arrangeres Bergen Challenge’s rugbykonkurranse på Krohnsminde fra 09-17. Vi deltar ikke, men Bergen er representert ved Sjøkrigsskolen! Mer informasjon finnes her 15. oktober tar seniorene turen til Stavanger og spiller uoffisiell bronsefinale mot Blindern. Offisiell event her. 21. oktober er det Grenseløs idrettsdag i Haukelandshallen. Her kommer rullestolrugby til å være representert, vi håper mange tar turen innom. FB-event og invitasjon. 22. oktober inviterer Hordaland Rugbykrets alle interesserte til Strategisamling. Her kommer blant annet Hordaland Idrettskrets til å presentere litt om klubbarbeid og…
