It’s been quite a long time since I’ve played an adventure game. The last one I recall was Escape from Monkey Island which released what… 13 years ago? See No Evil strives to revive that genre with a pixelated art style reminiscent of games from the DOS generation.

You play as Orsino who wakes up after a night of drinking and finds himself trapped in limbo. With his house in ruins, engulfed in ominous black flames, he decides to investigate by entering a strange palace off in the distance. Inside he meets Lord Barrod, a demon who taunts Orsino into a life of servitude by suggesting our poor hero submits to him. Orsino can freely submit to Lord Barrod at any time he pleases, but once this happens, it’s game over from here!

As with most adventure games, you’ll have to type in some commands to advance the story. Most of the interactions are done through the up or down arrow key, and if you leave Orsino idle, you’ll see some extra dialogue that can help you get passed some of the more challenging “puzzles,” so to speak.

Tip: Take note of any word that shows up in capital letters.

The general flow of the game requires you to form a pact with the demons around the palace. In addition, there are several rooms you need to activate by performing a specific ritual. For example, one room might ask for a demon to make Orsino scream, and what better way to scream than through some nice butt pounding action.

Once the deed is done, Orsino has to seal the room by chanting out the correct incantation. For this to happen, Orsino has to first learn of the correct phrase by investigating a poster in the room. Afterwards, he must head to the library,  memorize the entire spell, and return back to the room to complete the ritual.

Tip:  There’s one incantation that can’t be found on a poster.

Once you activate all the rooms and complete the final incantation you beat the game! Well… not really. Maybe you should listen to those Thralls again. Something about those phrases seems a bit off.

Though See No Evil might be a porn adventure game, it puts itself on a higher level, it’s well written and reads like a novel. As evil as Lord Barrod can be, his dialogue makes it seem like spending an eternity under him might not be such a bad thing… Well maybe it is, but it doesn’t have to end that way!

Senga Migiri has announced the game “Me and My Magical Boyfriends” can now be downloaded for free! It’s exactly the same version as the one released in stores.

The game may have a problem starting up correctly since it is not supported by current operating systems. Before launching the game, make sure you have your system locale set for Japanese language. You can find this in the Language settings in Control Panel. To prevent it from crashing, right click on or.exe, and enable  Windows XP Compatibility mode.

Boyfriends: Brai, Rikiohmaru, Takeru, and Tilt!

Me and My Magical Boyfriends stars Simba, a magician in training; searching for love. Using the Spellbook of Almagest in hopes of acquiring a boyfriend, he accidentally summons four men from different worlds. With inspections approaching within a month, if Simba doesn’t return them home in time, he may be forced to renounce his magicianship.

Back in December, Senga Migiri announced a new game titled Specie and Chimera. The main protagonist was dispatched by a public works company to help restore a zoo that was once forced to shut down due to financial troubles. This will mainly be a solo project for Senga Migiri, whom, aside from the music, will be handling the art, programming, and storytelling.

The characters from left to right, excluding the horse are:

• Tadashi (Main Protagonist & New Zoo Director)
• Mitora (Species [Purebreds] Researcher)
• Yousuke (Bird Researcher)
• Ketas/Cetus
• Souma
• Ryuma (Chimera [Hybrids] Researcher)
• Baku (Former Zoo Director)

Most of their names allude to an animal or chimera, like ‘Hawk’ in Yousuke’s name, or ”Dragon’ in Ryu’s. As for that one creepy dude, his name is Yamada, he’s a janitor who always wears this horse mask for some reason. This should make for some awkward but interesting cut-scenes.

No release date given, but we’ll have more details about the game once a demo is released.

Fantasy Football Locker Stalker

Wow it’s been quite a while since we’ve last played a Bara Game. This one comes from Captain Gerbear who hosted our outfit design contest a while back. The concept is pure genius. You play as a creepy guy who sneaks around in the locker room of the “Vegas Jacks.” You must hide in the lockers and snap photos of guys dressing, undressing, and showering. If you escape undetected, your photos are saved and you can view them at your leisure. The game is quite difficult, and it will take some time to understand the game’s flow.

Sneaking Around

You’ll spend the majority of the game sneaking around and hiding in lockers. You simply tap [UP] to enter the locker you are standing in front of.  Take note of the player’s name, as each person who enters into the locker room will have a distinct grunt. If you take the time to memorize each player’s voice, you can avoid failing on your initial attempt.

Unlike the stalker, the football players do not have a sprite on the screen. Their presence is indicated by a shadow. When a player is dressing or undressing, their shadow will stand in front of their locker at the lower edge of the screen.

Snapping Photos

To snap a picture, you must enter a locker up to two lockers away from the player’s position. Click on the “…. is dressing” text at the bottom of the screen to snap a picture of that player. Focus the camera with the keyboard arrow keys and use your mouse to aim the camera so that the player’s body is clearly visible. The photos you take of each player is graded and will be used to unlock bonus comics once you complete the entire game.

• Tip: While a player is dressing or undressing, you can sneak past them.
• Tip: If a player is entering the locker room, always assume they can see you around the corner.
• Tip: Every time a player starts or completes an action, they will make their distinct grunting noise.
• Tip: If you happen to be in a locker a player is about to enter, you may be able to get out undetected if you quickly escape and head to the next locker, this doesn’t work all the time though.

When a player undresses, they will leave their jockstrap on the floor and head to the shower. The shower stalls are the easiest place to snap photos since no one will ever open these doors. Don’t think that you can stay here throughout the entire game because your “Nerve” bar at the top of the screen decays as time passes by.

When your Nerve bar runs low, you’ll start shaking as you try to take photos. The only way to refill this bar is to sniff a player’s jock strap. When you spot one, press [DOWN] and stay completely still and the bar will regenerate over time.

• Tip: If your nerve bar runs out, you won’t get any achievements for that playthrough.

For every player on the roster, you must snap 3 photos of them, one as they are dressing, one undressing, and one in the shower. You do not have to do this all in one playthrough, each photo you take is saved and you can focus on any of the missing shots in a later run.

The game comes with a list of achievements you can unlock to see bonus artwork and comics. When you complete them all you’ll see other hidden comics to complete their stories.

Achievement List:

• Chickened Out! Leave the room before any Jacks enter.
• Good Run! Leave the room after 5 Jacks have left.
• Overtime! Leave the room after 10 Jacks have left.
• Last Man Standing! Leave the room after all 21 Jacks have left.
• Close Quarters! See three Jacks in the shower at once.
• Gentle Judgement! Get caught by Roy-Grant after stealing his Jock on the same run.
• My Favorite Pair! Collect 5 of Clyde’s Jocks.
• I was just leaving! Get caught by the first Jack that enters the room.
• Biding my time! Skip 10 games without entering the locker room.
• Prime Specimens! Escape the room with both MVPs Jocks
• Number One Fan! Collect at least one Jock and three A-Ranked photos of each Jack.

First person shooters are my weakest area. How did I fare in this game?

Gameplay:
Oh was it brutal! Who knew I could die so much in the first area. The game focuses purely on an FPS experience with some RPG elements – leveling up, skill tree, etc – with up to four players in co-op mode fighting their way through hordes of creatures, robots, and psychotic criminals.

I chose Salvador of the Gunzerker class (not only for the Bara appeal) but I felt playing as a tank character might help me through much of the game. As his name implies, the Gunzerker specializes in guns, and is noted for his special move where you whip out two guns at the same time while rapidly regenerating health. Most of the time, the Gunzerker’s regenerating health ability lets me survive much longer than I normally would in a typical FPS. I’m not one to pay attention to enemy tactics, and will go head first into enemy fire. Though it’s not the best route to play, I tend to shift between long distance sniping, abusing barriers to attack enemies through gaps in the wall, or all out melee attacks.

My main concern over gameplay comes from Co-Op. Unfortunately character levels do not scale based on the game’s host, and your friends will obliterate everything until you realize you’re underpowered when trekking alone.

Graphics:
I’m a big fan of cell-shaded graphics. Back in the days of Jet Set Radio, you couldn’t foresee cell shaded graphics looking this good. It’s detailed to the point that sometimes I forget that it is. There’s definitely no disappointment in the graphics department.

Sound:
Probably the game’s weakest areas. The music isn’t bad, but there aren’t that many tracks that stand out aside from the Snow and Desert areas. The music switches tracks between combat and non-battle, and I feel both tracks could have been a remix of each other to keep the theme. As much as I like Salvador, his grunting noise is a tad obnoxious.

Playability:
Controls are fine, though somewhat awkward when doing melee attacks mostly because you are in first person and it’s hard to visualize when the weapon physically hits the enemy. Replay factor should be quite high with a new game + mode, and a treasure trove of loot to hunt for.

Other Things:
If you’re on XBOX360 you have to be very wary of joining other people’s games with all the cheating going on. This is supposed to be fixed in an upcoming patch.

The Bara Factor:
Not much eye candy to see here. You have Salvadore and Axton, but unless someone creates a shirtless mod, you’ll just be focusing on shooting and nothing else. (Which is what you should be doing right?)

Next time we’ll talk about how we can gay up this game a bit. Though it will never be to the extent of Saints Row: The Third.

You can submit designs either through the submit form, or through tumblr. These submissions will be forwarded to Captain Gerbear. After they are voted upon, the top three designs will be converted into male outfits for the game.

• Outfit submissions don’t necessarily have to be decent, but Captain Gerbear reserves the right to cover the character’s junk in accordance with the style of the outfit.

• Outfit submissions which are original designs not belonging to the submitting party will be interpreted as an “inspired by” fashion, meaning that he will change the outfit to avoid infringing on another person’s property.

• Winners will receive a “One Up” Townseed reward. At the base level they will receive a free copy of the game.

As you awaken in a mysterious mansion, a butler greets you informing that you and 4 other guys have been randomly invited (against their will) to play a card game. You see, the owner of the mansion just loves games, it’s quite his passion. Everyone who plays gets a modest reward, (or you could say it’s hush money so you don’t alert the authorities.)

• 仁王 Niou (Age 36)
• 甲斐 Kai (Age 19)
• 金剛地 Kongouchi (Age 29)
• 猪熊 Inokuma (Age 48)

Each of the players use an alias during the game. Some of them are kind of interesting like the “Kon” in Kongouchi refers to gold, hence he has golden hair. Inokuma literally means boar/bear, and so he has a big belly and looks very bearish. In the demo only Niou and Kai are shown.

Here’s how the game works, your opponent’s cards are at the top, and your cards are the four cards at the bottom of the screen. 52 cards are laid out with the Jokers removed. In the middle of the screen is the stack where either you or your opponent can place cards. The person with no cards remaining wins!

Basically, the two cards in the center area of the screen requires the players to stack a card of lower or higher value. In the screenshot above the Queen card only allows a card of higher value (King) or a card of lower value (Jack). The 6 card will only allow 7 or 5. The card hierarchy can also loop back to the beginning. If you see an Ace card, you can place a card of higher value (2) or a card of lower value (King)

You can play a total of 5 games, the first person to win 3 games wins! The loser will have to undergo a Batsu Game 罰ゲーム. A Batsu Game is basically a humiliating game losers must undergo, like a game of torture. One Night Game’s torture games however are pretty easy going.
