Fly fishing on The Chattahoochee River with Jim Harvey was a lot of fun this morning. We waded in the mud and Jim was able to hook up with this 10 lbs. brute on his 8 wt. fly rod. Despite the numerous stick-up and tree stumps he had to deal with he landed the fish with no problems. Great job Jim!

Catching carp on ultra-light tackle can be a ton of fun…and a real challenge. Carp are one of the hardest fighting freshwater fish and they grow really big!

Plus…you don’t need a fancy, expensive boat and a lot of high-dollar equipment either. Carp tackle is simple and cheap. And bait is cheap too. Our favorite is whole kernel sweet corn. A $1.00 can will last all day!

Check out the video below and watch Gary Zimmerman hook up and land a couple of nice carp on an ultra-light rod with 5 lbs. test line!

Fly fishing for carp ion shallow water is a ton of fun. It also require a lot of work, especially from the person poling the boat. Watch here as my good friend Dutch Earle tries poling for the first time…and discovers it is not as easy as it looks.
