]]>If anything was meant for the grill, it’s a burger. There’s no denying that a burger cooked on a grill tastes better than any other way to cook one. However, grilling great burgers is an art. It’s easy to overcook or undercook a burger, leaving it dry or almost raw.
To get that perfect combo of correctly cooked but still juicy and tender, you need to use a meat thermometer. This allows you to cook your burgers perfectly without having a guess. Stick the thermometer into the side of the burger until it’s halfway through. For beef burgers, the ideal temperature is 160 degrees fahrenheit. Once it reaches this temperature, take it off the grill and let it rest for a few minutes before serving it.
Aside from cooking your burger correctly, you also want to season it. You can use your own preferred combo of seasonings, but there’s no need to make it complicated– salt, pepper, and garlic will do just fine. Season your patties on both sides before you put them on the grill.
Burgers are made even more delicious with toppings. If you’re having friends over, you can make a buffet of toppings, so that they can pick and choose how to dress their burgers. Provide the classic toppings like mayo, mustard, ketchup, pickles, tomatoes, and lettuces. And then, also add in some more unique choices, like bacon, grilled pineapple, mushrooms, bbq sauce, onion straws, and jalapenos.
You can also add ingredients into your burger for extra flavor, finely chopped onions, peppers, and jalapenos can add texture and spice. Cheese inside your burger can add a melty element to your burgers.
When it comes to your burgers, have fun and be creative! Remember to use a meat thermometer so you can cook your burger just right. And, come to us at Daughtridge Energy in Rocky Mount, NC to get your propane tank and gas grill.

]]>Do you love pizza? Of course you do! Do you have the extra layer of smoky flavor that grilling adds to your food? We know the answer is yes! So, why not combine these 2 delicious taste combinations and grill your pizza?!
Grilling your pizza is similar to cooking a pizza in a wood fired grill. It adds that extra layer of smoking flavor plus a delicious crispy crunch.
There are a number of ways that you can grill your pizza. There are special dishes/pans/stones made for grilling your pizza, or you can use a cookie sheet, or you can grill the pizza directly on the grill (just be sure to clean your grill well before you do so). Simply Recipes suggests that you first grill the dough directly on the grill, and then remove it and place it on a cookie sheet before adding your toppings and grilling it some more.
A fun idea for the summer is to have your own pizza party outdoors. Just invite your family and friends over for a fun make-your-own pizza party. Prepare the pizza dough before hand, then sit out a variety of pizza toppings. Have your guests prepare their own pizzas, choosing whichever toppings they like. Once you’re done with dinner, you can do the same thing with sweet toppings in order to make dessert pizzas! It’s sure to be a crowd pleaser!
During the summer, you can try fun pizza combos featuring fresh summer ingredients, like ripe tomatoes, juicy strawberries, and delicious pineapple. The flavor combinations are almost endless!

]]>The weather’s getting hotter, the kids are getting out of school, and summer is right around the corner. That means that you’ll likely be hitting the road at some point, whether it’s to go camping with your family, to visit the beach with your loved ones, or go tailgating with your buddies.
One of the many benefits of a grill is that it can go with you on these summer adventures. However, before you just throw your grill in the bed of your truck, it’s important to take some precautions to make sure that your grill and your vehicle don’t get damaged in the process.
If you have a propane grill, the first thing that you’ll want to do is remove the propane tank and secure it safely inside your car. If you leave it attached, it could get punctured or otherwise damaged during the transport. Place it in an area in your car where it won’t roll around or fall, and don’t leave it inside your car unattended for extended periods of time, as cars can get very hot very quickly during the summer.
You’ll also want to remove any cooking tools and loose parts for the grill before you pack it up.
From there, cover your grill either with a grill cover or a moving blanket. Then, strap it securely in your truck bed so that it will not move during transport. The last thing you want is for your grill to fall out of your truck or roll around and get damaged while you drive. If your grill has wheels, then you’ll either want to lock the wheels or lay it on its side during transport.
You should never try to transport a grill on the roof of your car, even if your car has a rack on the top. The risk of the grill falling off is far too great, even when secured tightly.
If you’re ready to get out on the road and find some summer adventures, don’t forget to bring your grill along for the ride! Just be sure to take the proper safety precautions when transporting your grill.
For all of your grill and propane needs this summer, be sure to come see us at Daughtridge Energy in Rocky Mount, NC.

While grilling can be both fun and delicious, it’s important to practice grilling safety to avoid any injuries or accidents. According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), over 10,000 grill-related accidents happen each year. Let’s reduce that number by practicing grilling safety!
Before you ever turn on your grill, it’s important to put it in the right location:
Often grilling accidents happen because of the location of the grill. You can easily help to prevent this by considering where you put your grill.
Grilling accidents can also happen because of a dirty grill. That means that a clean grill isn’t just unsanitary, it’s also unsafe. Food debris and grease can get stuck on your grill and lead to fires. That’s why it’s important to clean your grill after each use. In addition, you should also clean your grill before you use it for the first time in a while; for example, if you’re using it in the spring after it’s been put away all winter.
In addition to cleaning your grill regularly, you should also use a grill cover to help protect it from the elements like rain, wind, and sunshine. If possible, place your grill in an area where it isn’t constantly exposed to direct sunlight.
Grilling accidents can also occur because of a damaged or faulty propane tank. That’s why it’s important to regularly inspect your propane tank for signs of age or damage, such as rust, dents, punctures, or holes. If you notice anything wrong with your propane tank, you should replace it. In addition, keep an eye out for problems with your gas line, such as a leak, or any wear and tear.
Don’t store your propane tank in direct sunlight, and don’t store it indoors. Propane tanks are made to withstand the outdoors, and it’s unsafe to store it indoors, even in your garage. If you’re transporting a propane tank, place it upright in an area where it won’t roll around or get damaged.
Here are some other key safety tips to make your grilling experience as safe as possible:
There’s nothing better than a burger, hot dog, or anything really, cooked on your propane grill. Just be sure to grill safely! For all of your propane and grilling needs year round come to see us at Daughtridge Energy in Rocky Mount, NC.
