Hello Carol,

I am deeply touched by your email. Thank you for sharing it.

When I made the film I never would have dreamed it would affect anyone this way. I am both proud and humbled.

You can watch the film here.

https://digitalcollections.library.unsw.edu.au/nodes/view/2777?keywords=Tango+Octogenario&type=all&highlights=WyJ0YW5nbyIsIm9jdG9nZW5hcmlvIl0%3D

It’s an Australian archive of dance films. If you have trouble viewing it, let me know and I’ll send you either a digital copy or a DVD.

Gratefully,

David

Many, many, years ago I stumbled across a film which I have only now discovered was directed by you. The film. Tango Octogenario, made such an instant and lasting affect upon me, that I have been seeking for it ever since. I am still seeking it, yearning to view it again.
(It didn’t help. I’m sure, that I misremembered the title, and had been mistakenly seeking “Tango Geriatrico” instead. I now know it’s been 23 years of searching, which I hope now will be satisfied.
I’m 79 years old now, so I was 56 when I saw your film. At the time, my husband Frank and I were going through a kind of rough spot in our then 33-year marriage. I can only say that your film helped me weather that storm. We went on to remain married, happily, for another 15 years until his death (heart attack) in 2018.
Please tell me where I can see Tango Geriatrico (I hope I’ve gotten the title, if not the exact spelling correct now.

Thanks for reaching out.

The site I sometimes reviewed films for is no longer up. And my contact at Filmmaker Magazine is no longer there. All of that to say that I don’t review films anymore, because I don’t have an outlet for them.

Good luck with your film’s release.
