How’s it going to “die”? They are already building it and already have Chinese money to pay for the construction.

As long as a building has apartments/hotel in it, the banks appear willing to lend. Returns from that can help pay off the construction loan until the condos sell out.

This rent is within reach of “C” level executives at Big Corp. I know of many corporate people that never really move to Chicago. They have “home” homes elsewhere. They work in Chicago. Sometimes their families come too. Sometimes their families are only in Chicago for summers and chunks of other times. I don’t know their average job tenure, but it’s well below the period of typical home ownership.

No way to $3900. I own a three bedroom place near Division/Noble that I get $3500 for that includes street parking! I think $8900 is too much, but not $3900. $7500 would be about right.
