Per many of your requests, we are excited to announce our AALEA Lunar New Year Party 2025/1st General Meeting on behalf of the Executive Board. As Lunar New Year 4727, Year of the Snake, approaches, we have learned about the significance of this special holiday and how it has been celebrated throughout the Asian American communities in Chicago for a long time. This year, we have chosen our Lunar New Year Dinner to be held on Thursday, February 6th, 2025, at 1830 hours at the New Furama Restaurant 富麗華酒家 at 2828 S Wentworth Ave, Chicago, IL 60616.

We will ask for $50 per person (Members) and $60 per person (Non-Members) for this event. This package includes Drinks (soda & tea), Appetizers, Entrees, & Desserts. All are served in a Buffet-style.

If interested in attending, please respond with your RSVP to this email address (aalea@aalea.org) no later than Monday, February 3rd, 2025, so we can get an accurate headcount. Due to high demand and limited seats, it will be on a first-come, first serve. Your email confirmation will be served as your dinner ticket.

Dinner tickets are to be paid for either at the restaurant’s front entrance upon your arrival or via Zelle: payable to aalea@aalea.org.

To keep our costs low and maximize benefits, once you RSVP, please be there. YOUR ATTENDANCE AND WORDS MATTER!

We will also be having our LUNAR NEW YEAR 2025 MEMBERSHIP DRIVE.

We will offer all Probationary Police Officers “Free AALEA Membership” during their first year probationary period. Please feel free to spread the word.

We are going to have special guests coming to join us that evening!

This will be an excellent opportunity to network, mingle, and socialize in an informal and relaxed atmosphere. The network you gained through AALEA can mutually benefit all members long-term. Unlike our Annual Award Dinner, this event will be informal and only open to AALEA members, guests, and their families.

Come join the AALEA family at the annual picnic located at Labagh Woods.

This event is FREE to all AALEA Members and Guests.

As a tradition, AALEA will provide hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, soda, water…etc. AALEA Brothers and Sisters are also encouraged to bring dishes and desserts to share.

Please RSVP by Thursday, September 19th, 2024. via aalea@aalea.org if attending, so we can have an approximate headcount.

Come on out and bring the families. There will be a Volleyball, Face Painting, Snow Cones….. and other games for the kids to play.

There will also be a Fire Truck there for you to take photos with. Also please feel free to bring whatever you like, such as your own chairs and coolers.

2024 Annual Awards Dinner

The Asian American Law Enforcement Association (AALEA) Executive Board and Chairs, cordially invite you to attend our 41st Anniversary Annual Awards Dinner. The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Hyatt Regency O’Hare Chicago, 9300 W. Bryn Mawr Avenue, Rosemont, Illinois.

Individual Ticket will be $160 per person ($175 after October 15, 2024).

Trooper Chong Soo Lim Scholarship: Trooper Chong Soo Lim, the first Asian officer and AALEA brother who made the ultimate sacrifice in the performance of his duties in 1995.

Officer Xu Ming Community Appreciation Award: Officer Xu Ming, the only Asian officer and AALEA brother who made the ultimate sacrifice for protecting our city.

Malcom Woo Leadership Award: Late Founding Father of AALEA, Malcom Woo, went above and beyond to actively participate in AALEA events, showcasing his passionate leadership and unwavering dedication to AALEA. We rename the AALEA leadership award in his memory.

Officer Malcom B. Woo

It is with profound sorrow and a heavy heart that I share the incredibly sad news of the passing of one of the Founding Fathers of AALEA, Malcolm Woo, Retired Chicago PD.

Malcolm’s unwavering dedication and passionate leadership made an enduring impact on all of us. His commitment to mentorship and enthusiastic support served as a wellspring of inspiration for many within the organization. Malcolm consistently went above and beyond, often traveling long distances, even from out of town, to actively participate in AALEA events, showcasing his unwavering devotion to AALEA.

Malcolm is not only a Founding Father but also a cherished friend, mentor, and brother to me. Over the years, his teachings on perseverance, resilience, compassion, and dedication to the organization and community have been invaluable to me as President. He consistently encouraged me by saying, “No matter how tough it gets, don’t give up and keep fighting. Remember, that’s what AALEA is here for – to support our members and community through thick and thin as one family.”

On behalf of AALEA, I have personally extended my support to Malcolm’s family during this unexpected and difficult time. We are committed to offering any assistance they may need.
