          4 persoonskamer blijkt maar 1 bed te hebben      Comment   Translate Page      

Anderhalve week geleden hebben wij met het gezin een reis geboekt naar Abu Dhabi voor de mei vakantie. We hebben het Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan by Rotana hotel geboekt en hebben gekozen voor een classic room, waarbij stond vermeld dat deze kamer geschikt is voor 4 personen. Aangezien ik uit de foto's van de kamer niet kon opmaken hoe de indeling is van de bedden voor de kinderen (losse bedden of bedbank) heb ik het hotel een mail gestuurd. Hierop kreeg ik als reactie dat er slechts 1 kingsize bed in de kamer staat en dat er wordt verwacht dat je met het hele gezin 1 bed deelt (wij hebben 2 kinderen van 10 en 8 jaar!). Mochten we dit niet willen dan kunnen we extra bedden op de kamer laten plaatsen voor AED 121 (30 Euro) per bed per nacht, wat neer komt op 600 Euro extra voor 2 bedden voor 10 nachten! Dit is echter op basis van beschikbaarheid, dus deze extra bedden kunnen niet gegarandeerd worden. Ik boek een kamer voor 4 personen, dan verwacht ik ook een slaapplek voor 4 personen en dan is het toch heel merkwaardig dat we bij moeten betalen voor extra bedden? Niemand slaapt toch met een gezin van 4 in 1 kingsize bed? Dit heb ik nog nooit mee gemaakt! Hierop heb ik gebeld en gemaild met de klantenservice van Expedia. De dame die ik sprak gaf aan dat ik dan de kleine lettertjes maar beter had moeten lezen, wat mij al behoorlijk irriteerde. Toen ik aangaf deze goed te hebben gelezen en er nergens op de website of in de bevestiging staat vermeld dat er slechts 1 tweepersoonsbed op de kamer aanwezig is, zocht ze onze reservering op en bevestigde ze mij dat het er inderdaad niet in staat dat er moet worden bij betaald voor extra bedden. Hierop heeft de medewerkster gebeld met het Rotana hotel en kreeg daar te horen dat er op de kamer die wij hebben geboekt slechts ruimte is voor 1 extra bed. Dit betekent dus dat wij nog steeds met z'n 3-en een bed moeten delen! Het hotel gaf aan wel een familiekamer beschikbaar te hebben met een kingsize bed en 2 bedden voor de kinderen. Hiervoor dient echter een bedrag van Euro 881,- extra betaald te worden. Ik gaf de medewerkster van Expedia aan dat onze vakantie hiermee veel duurder zal worden en we het er niet mee eens zijn dat wij voor deze extra kosten opdraaien. Wij zijn er tenslotte de dupe van dat de informatie op de Expedia website niet juist is. Hierop gaf ze aan dat ik de reservering nog kosteloos kan annuleren, maar wij hebben onze vliegtickets al geboekt en daar kunnen we niet meer onderuit. Alle andere hotels in Abu Dhabi zijn nog veel duurder, dus dat ik ook geen optie voor ons. Daarna heeft de medewerkster van Expedia contact gezocht met het hoofdkantoor van Expedia in Amerika. Pas een week later kreeg ik als reactie dat het hoofdkantoor niet over zal gaan op compensatie omdat er volgens de boekingsprocedure aangegeven is dat dit het tarief inclusief de kinderen is die in de bestaande bedden zullen verblijven (King size bed ) en dat er bijbetaald moet worden voor extra bedden. DIT IS ABSOLUUT NIET WAAR! Nergens stond dit vermeld bij het boekingsproces en ook niet in het reserveringsproces. Als ik dit had geweten had ik deze kamer nooit geboekt! Ik heb hierop weer gebeld met Expedia en kreeg alleen te horen dat zij niets meer kunnen betekenen en dat ik na mijn vakantie maar een klacht moet indienen. Ik voel me erg in de steek gelaten door Expedia en ben absoluut niet tevreden met de manier waarop ze deze klacht afhandelen. Hopelijk kan ik hierbij mensen waarschuwen, boek nooit bij Expedia! Voor mij was dit de eerste en laatste keer.

Hi Kei, Great question! I know you can exchange train tickets because I changed dates once, but I don't know about cancellations. If you do it a few weeks in advance it may work, but I'm not sure. You may have to ask hour hotel, or just book a flight on Expedia and cancel it within 24 hours for a refund.
