Halo: The Master Chief Collection Headed to PC and Steam, Halo: Reach Being Added      Cache   Translate Page

Microsoft Game Studios announced Halo: The Master Chief Collection is coming to Windows PC via the Microsoft Store and Steam. Also announced is Halo: Reach will be added to the collection.

Read the announcement post below:

Today we’re extremely excited to share two big announcements that deliver on what are easily the most frequently requested asks from our community over the last few years: First, Halo: Reach is being added to Halo: The Master Chief Collection (MCC) and second, the entire collection is coming to PC via the Microsoft Store and Steam! This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for us to bring the Halo Universe and Master Chief’s story to a new audience and to offer PC gamers a chance to step into the franchise on the PC platform of their choice.
For the team at 343 Industries, the most important and critical element of this project is ensuring that Halo: The Master Chief Collection delivers a true “first class” experience on PC. We’re embarking on a journey with our community to build a PC experience that delivers on PC gamer expectations. The team is passionately committed to ensuring that all of the features, bells, and whistles expected in a modern PC title are included with MCC.

The Master Chief’s arrival on PC will happen in stages with each title releasing one by one over time -– giving the development teams the ability to ensure each one is right, while giving players a chance to jump in right away, rather than having to wait for the entire suite of games to be completed. Our current plan is for this journey to begin with the launch of Halo: Reach – the fictional beginnings of Master Chief’s saga – with the rest of the titles following in chronological order thereafter. Halo: ReachHalo: Combat EvolvedHalo 2Halo 3Halo 3: ODST (Campaign), and Halo 4 will each be available for individual purchase within MCC as they become available. And each game will evolve and grow over time with community input.

Along with “bring Halo: The Master Chief Collection to PC!”, the next loudest refrain from Halo fans has been to “add Halo: Reach to Halo: The Master Chief Collection!” and we’re excited to make good on both requests later this year. Halo: Reach in Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Xbox One looks better than ever in stunning 4K/HDR on compatible hardware and plays better than ever at a silky smooth 60FPS.

On Xbox One specifically, Halo: Reach’s multiplayer content (which includes Forge and the Theater) will be automatically included for everyone who owns Halo: The Master Chief Collection while Halo: Reach’s Campaign and Firefight experiences will be offered together as a premium digital add-on. Xbox Game Pass subscribers will have access to the entirety of Halo: Reach within MCC as part of their subscription. Halo: Reach will look and play just as great when it lands on the Microsoft Store and Steam with Campaign, Multiplayer, and Firefight available for purchase as the first step in this PC journey.

We know many of you will have questions, so stay tuned to Halo Waypoint – we’ll have plenty more to say, share, and show on the road to release. The team at 343 Industries, along with our partners at Splash Damage and Ruffian, are already hard at work and we can’t wait to bring the community along on this journey.

On behalf of the entire 343 Industries team, thank you to everyone who’s continued to play and support Halo and Halo: The Master Chief Collection and for not giving up on the dream of one day enjoying these great experiences on a PC.

Control is Less Linear Than Previous Remedy Games      Cache   Translate Page

Remedy Entertainment game director Mikael Kasurinen speaking with Game Informer revealed the upcoming game, Control, will be less linear previous games from the developer.

"Previous Remedy games tended to be quite linear," said Kasurinen. "Here, we have shifted our goal so that we have more complex scenarios with our different abilities and you choose the way you want to fight."

"Through the main campaign, you upgrade your security clearance through this world," he added. "And to do that you can actually unlock more different kind of doors and gateways. Early in the game, you will face certain doors you can't access yet. As you go through the campaign and through the world, you get a higher clearance and you can go back to these areas that you had to skip initially. On top of that, we have also areas that are limited by the ability you have, for instance, levitation."

Control will launch this summer for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is Just 12.58 GB on Xbox One      Cache   Translate Page

The Microsoft Store has revealed is just 12.58 GB on the Xbox One. It is likely the PlayStation 4 and Windows PC versions of the game will have a similar file size.

Here is an overview of the game:

Your death won’t come easily. Introducing Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, a fantastical, dark and twisted new gameplay experience from developer From Software, creators of Bloodborne and the Dark Souls series.

Directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, and published by Activision, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a third-person, action-adventure game with RPG elements. The single-player game puts players in the protagonist role of a hard-hearted warrior whose mission is to rescue his master, a young lord who is the descendant of an ancient bloodline, and exact revenge on his arch nemesis. Set in the re-imagined world of late 1500s Sengoku Japan; a brutal, bloody period of constant life-and-death conflict, in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice you are the “one-armed wolf,” a disgraced and disfigured warrior rescued from the brink of death.

In the game, players come face-to-face with larger than life foes; unleash an arsenal of deadly prosthetic tools and powerful ninja abilities to blend stealth, vertical traversal, and visceral head-to-head combat in a bloody confrontation.

Take revenge. Restore your honor. Kill Ingeniously.

Key Features:

  • Kill Ingeniously – From Software delivers their best in class combat in this fast-paced, action-adventure game featuring all new mechanics.
  • Exploration is key – Players will experience the thrill of exploration and discovery in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice like never before. Through exploration, players can uncover new items, meet new characters, and encounter hidden enemies.
  • Armed – Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice gameplay is centered around sword combat, enhanced by a variety of prosthetic arm attachments that supplement or change the way a player fights. Achieving strategic mastery of “Sekiro” or the “one-armed wolf’s” techniques and abilities, from prosthetic tools, swordplay to stealth and the grappling hook is no easy feat. To overcome difficulties and bring each situation under control, gamers must discover, integrate and use a variety of new tools when heading into combat.
  • One-armed wolf – Play as a highly talented shinobi in the service of a young lord raised in isolation. After suffering defeat at the hands of a shadowy Ashina samurai seeking the unique heritage of your master, the two of you are separated. Deep in the mountains, in a dilapidated temple, you reawaken to your fate. You must take back your master and exact revenge on your enemy at all costs.
  • Hard to the core – Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a hard-core game worthy of the name From Software. Miyazaki designed Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice this way! Fans of From Software will find the gameplay challenging, yet fun and rewarding. The quality of combat, level of challenge, and creative enemies and bosses are something that can only be found in a From Software title.
  • Reimagined world – This reimagining of Japanese aesthetic blends a withered, yet vivid, world of the late 1500s Sengoku Japan as the age of warring states nears its end. Witness a world brought to its knees by constant bloodshed; a ravaged world on the brink of destruction. Explore these environments, rich with FromSoftware’s intricate design and steeped with secrets to discover.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will launch worldwide for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC via Steam on March 22, 2019.

Project Hardcore Renamed Ultracore, Headed to PS4 and PSV in Late May      Cache   Translate Page

Publisher Strictly Limited Games announced Project Hardcore has been renamed Ultracore and will launch for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in late May.

View the name reveal trailer below:

Here is an overview of the game:

During the early 1990s, the Swedish video game developer Digital Illusions (also known as DICE) started working on their new game. Developed for Commodore Amiga, Sega Mega Drive / Genesis and Sega Mega-CD, the game was about 99 percent finished and previews of an engaging and gorgeous-looking side-scrolling action game with the name Hardcore were wandering through the media.

All the signs were pointing to another hit. But then, out of a sudden, Hardcore was put on hold due to a shift towards the new generation of gaming consoles, most notably the powerful Sony PlayStation with its incredible 3D graphics.

Except for a few people, no one has ever played this gem. But in 2019, after nearly 25 years of deep sleep, Hardcore will finally be published with the new name Ultracore.

For about two years some of the most talented minds and experts in the video game industry have worked with the team from Strictly Limited Games on the implementation of this retro treasure for the current generation of consoles. Among others involved in the development are the former long-time DICE employee Mikael Kalms and members of the original development team Fredrik Liljegren and Joakim Wejdemar. They were supported by Matt Phillips, specialist for 68000 programming and Mega Drive at Big Evil Corporation; Steve Snake, expert for emulation and retro games; porting expert Mathew Gambrell; and game/level designer Gerhard Weihrauch.

Ultracore is a euro-style Metroidvania-platformer appealing especially to classic 2D-action-game enthusiasts with intricate level design and numerous mid- and end-bosses.

As a 2D sidescrolling platformer, Ultracore will appeal especially to fans of classic retro action games and offers extensive levels and lots of bosses and mini-bosses. In addition to publication for all retro fans on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, Ultracore will also come pre-installed on the retro console Mega SG from Analogue. Information on the planned Mega Drive cartridge and other platforms will be announced in the coming weeks.

Key Features:

  • A lost treasure.
  • Euro-style Metroidvania.
  • Packed with quality art and attention to detail.
  • Originally developed by DICE (in the mid-1990s) for Sega Mega Drive, Sega Mega CD and Commodore Amiga – also see DICE’s Twitter.

Maintaining my target weight and somewhat managing back pain with a homebrew Peloton bike      Cache   Translate Page

I've been holding steady at my target weight for over 5 months, despite numerous back injuries and setbacks. At the heart of my fitness routine is a homebrew Peloton cycle.

More often than not I forget that my Sunny Bike actually relieves back pain. When I'm sore or struggling with my lower back, the go-to impulse is to stop riding. A single ride can help release tension or trick some mildly spasming muscles into stopping. It also burns lots of calories, makes my body look a lot better and rapidly becomes addicting to the point I have to manage how many times a week I ride.

As part of local tradition, I was body shamed during a visit to Los Angeles last July. A friend pointed out that I had gained more weight than they had seen on me. I had gained about 15 lbs above where I had been comfortably sitting, pedaling away on my Sunny Bike and watching Dr. Lupo stream on Twitch 2-3 times a week. Affectionally I referred to those 15 lbs as "the Fortnite 15."

I decided I'd had enough and immediately went on a diet that I know works for me. I started hitting the bike! I gave up on Twitch and started riding along with 45-minute classes led by Dennis via the Peloton app. I also started a pretty serious regimen of abdominal workouts as prescribed during prior physical therapy. I felt great, lost tons of fat and built a lot of muscle! Read the rest

Nervous Twitch on Punk Fox Records       Cache   Translate Page

Knowing better than to have any idea what expect from the Punk Fox label, I let this four piece from Leeds, UK, Nervous Twitch walk me through the past fifty years of music history across the two sides of this single. It's weird that I find myself going back to those girl groups from the '50s thanks to Guantanamo Baywatch or yesterday's single from Susan practically daily but you'd be crazy not to hear the direct thread between The Shangri-La's and something like Personal and the Pizzas. These guys start out in the early '50s and head straight into post punk that round peg in the square hole.

A-Side's "Jonny's got a gun" blasts right into that chorus lyric right along with a three chord jangle at spastic speed, whoever came up with their name gets a free drink. Erin on vocals and has got it out for this Jonny character, who's been historically maligned in so many songs. Bash that sentiment out on the fretboard, 'got a gun' repeated that over and over in the garage, cranking on chords, tracking harmonies together updating The Angels "Boyfriends Back" and uping the stakes. Enter huge reverb on "And we did" with muted clicking chords to slow things down. A toy xylophone sounding electric plunged under water and held down with weights. I like this slower, down low vocal sounding like the Midnight Snaxxx leather jacket harmony with the attitude of The Coathangers. Greaser '50s vibe with a tambourine and warbling wah of a reverb coiled up and sprung down the stairs like a slinky. The drums have that shallow cardboard box feel, a nice mix of homemade and studio sounding, nailing that crafty quality of these sort of reenactments. They should open for Shannon and the Clams or Hunx of course, there's room for more of this winking nostalgia.
B-Side's "Modern World" opens with a heavy Wire sounding bass line that shifts into post punk reggae Clash sound. Erin is right in the front of this mix, slightly blown out with a jagged vocal delivery over stabs of new wave strings between this stutter jangle. More ominous and bleak sounding until they hit that chorus and it's almost a hyper maximum density shoegaze. They seem to have absorbed the past fifty years and playing through all of it across these two sides, can't decide? You don't have to, play it all.

Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Dont Dry Headed to Switch and PS4      Cache   Translate Page

Publisher Assemble Entertainment and developer Crazybunch Studios announced Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Don’t Dry will launch for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in early summer 2019 for $39.99. The game is available now for Windows PC.

View a trailer of the game below:

Here is an overview of the game:

Hey ladies, I’m back in business! My new adventure, Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Don’t Dry, takes me—whatever the route or twist of fate—from the end of the ’80s directly into the 21st century and wow, how the world has changed! While my view of the world and women from way back in the 1980s collides with modern reality harder than the breasts of a lusciously stacked blonde jogging along a beach, I’m all set to date my way across the modern world!

In a “point and click” adventure I’d call typical for the genre we mutually experience how I fall head-over-heels in love with Faith, the hot-to-trot assistant to the boss at Prune, a technology enterprise successful worldwide. Since even dating is done digitally nowadays, the first thing I have to do is to work on my score at Timber, the totally hip, can’t-get-anywhere-without-it dating app where I date women, satisfy their needs, and accordingly pick up points for my Timber profile. And whenever I get a chance in between, always briefly check out a few new bikini pix at Instacrap—the 21st century is gnarly smill!

Key Features:

  • Leisure Suit Larry is coming in the 21st century—and no, there’s no word missing here.
  • Explore a lovingly designed, non-linear game world set in the modern world with over 30 hand-drawn venues.
  • Use “Timber,” the in-game app, along with an innovative dating mechanism to date women, consequently improve your score at Timber, and ultimately clear the way to get to Faith, the women of your dreams.
  • Solve true-blue puzzles and interact with over 30 hand-drawn characters.

Action RPG Dauntless Delayed to Summer      Cache   Translate Page

Phoenix Labs announced it has delayed the action RPG, Dauntless, from April 2019 to summer 2019 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC via the Epic Games Store. The game is also planned to release on the Nintendo Switch and smartphones.

The PlayDauntless.com version of the game has been updated with the following changes:

New Behemoth: Boreus:

Boreus is the first Behemoth in Dauntless with the ability to summon swarms of minions to its aid. The Boreus is a frost-powered Behemoth that is best thought of as not a single Behemoth, but as a whole host of creatures—this becomes quickly apparent once it calls upon three distinct minion types to assail unsuspecting Slayers. Those who hunt the Boreus will need to employ new tactics and strategies to secure a kill.

Hunt Pass Season 3:

Boreus also heralds the launch of Hunt Pass Season 3: Overgrowth, as Dauntless continues to expand in the lead up to launch. Arriving alongside the Behemoth, this new seasonal event runs from March 13 to April 16 and gives Slayers the opportunity to earn a full set of Farslayer gear, including the first-ever transmog for the Ostian repeaters. Emotes, epic flares and other rewards dot both the Elite and Basic Hunt Pass tracks as well.

Additional Changes:

Additional changes coming in today’s patch include a completely revamped UI for Slayer loadouts that enables easy swapping of armor, consumables and cells on a single screen, as well as updated attacks and combos for the Hammer weapon class that enable new, vicious attack options. This is part of an ongoing effort to rework and refine existing systems in Dauntless for launch, ensuring the experience is fresh for new and existing players alike.

Set in an alternate history, the game will focus on the accessible realism and historical authenticity for which our previous games are known; from vehicles to troops, locations to weapons, everything is real world and period appropriate. ‘83 will have large maps; all set in realistic locations across which players will do battle as either the forces of the Warsaw Pact or NATO in a global conflict.

To reflect the nature of this global conflict, ‘83 will showcase a feature described as ‘Persistent Warfare.’ Everything from kills to captures will be tracked and recorded, feeding results back into the larger status of the war, and resulting in a tangible and visible impact on subsequent matches, no matter which server a player is on.

Sturt Jeffery, Lead Designer on the project describes persistent warfare as: “A way to give all players a meaningful opportunity to contribute to the war effort, and one which drives the ongoing development of content in line with the player-driven narrative of the war. We’re also planning some interesting ways for prominent players to achieve recognition above and beyond the usual in-game items, achievements and titles previously experienced in similar games.”

Antimatter Games are taking an innovative, community-driven approach to the development of ‘83, to engage passionate fans of the genre through “open box development.” More details about ‘83 will be announced in the coming months. AMG will also be attending GDC 2019 in San Francisco to talk about ‘83 and meet with potential partners, publishers and investors in-line with the expansion of the studio.

Retro Recoil-Shooter Neon Caves Blasts Onto Switch Later This Month      Cache   Translate Page

Featuring arcade-action twitch gameplay.

One-man developer Force Of Habit has revealed its latest project destined for Switch: a retro-style shooter called Neon Caves.

This one's press release describes it as "an experimental offshoot" of Toast Time: Smash Up!, a multiplayer brawler which launched on Switch towards the end of last year. This new release (we say 'new' - it actually launched on the OUYA back in 2014) is designed using the same movement mechanics that were present in that game, but changes things up to use them in a brand new, arcade-action twitch gameplay environment.

New Apex Legends Leak Hints At Future Inclusion Of NPCs      Cache   Translate Page
In this day and age, games developers face an uphill struggle in attempting to keep future plans secret, especially when said titles have a global following itching for even the smallest morsel of new information. Respawn Entertainment's Apex Legends found fame overnight and has since become the most-viewed game on Twitch - even surpassing Epic Games' hugely popular Fortnite - so it's hardly surprising that the rumor mill refuses to stop. One of the latest discoveries to be made comes by way of Twitter user RealApexLeaks, who dove headfirst into the battle royale title's files following last week's update to see what they could dig up.
New Apex Legends Exploit Gives You Exclusive Origin Access Loot For Free      Cache   Translate Page
Respawn Entertainment and EA are once again being forced to address an exploit with Apex Legends, this time in the form of a loophole discovered with the latter's Origin Access service. Mimicking the debacle that took place with last month's Twitch Prime promotion, fans have discovered the means to unlock exclusive loot tied to EA's premium Origin subscription, bypassing the usual $4.99 USD monthly fee. Goodies included with Apex Legends' Origins Access Pack are a special Banner Badge, the Flatline Epic Weapon Skin and 1,000 Apex Coins, so it's certainly not a bonus EA intends for users to get for free, especially if the rumoured price of Apex's premium battle pass is accurate.

Hugo One.

How the Holy Spirit Can Guide the Church Through Digital Babylon      Cache   Translate Page

The modern body of Christ is full of nontraditional missionaries who use social media and digital tools to fulfill the Great Commission. As recently as 25 years ago, missionaries would surrender their lives to God; hop on a boat, plane or train; and stop off when they felt the Holy Spirit's prompting. But today, the Lord is raising up a generation of digital missionaries, who are using technology to share the gospel with the entire world.

For example, many people have never heard of Bobby Gruenewald, who serves as the innovation leader of Life.Church in Edmond, Oklahoma—but they've probably used his app. Gruenewald is the founder of YouVersion, the world's No. 1 Bible app. YouVersion has been installed on over 358 million devices worldwide. Where missionaries used to smuggle Bibles into hostile countries, YouVersion can bring the Word directly to people's phones at no cost, translated in over 1,200 languages. Gruenewald says the internet is a game-changer for ministries—and it's an opportunity the church can't afford to dismiss.

"We're alive at a unique time in history," he explains. "God has put us here on this earth at this moment, when we have access to all these tools that can reach people all over the world. For us, that's not just an opportunity—it's a responsibility."

But it's not just about Bible apps. Christians are finding ways to share the gospel across every conceivable online platform. That includes obvious social networks like Facebook and Twitter, but it also includes Periscope, Instagram, Twitch and more. Evangelists on these diverse sites can preach without ever setting foot in another city or country. And though the internet is host to many traps and temptations, the Holy Spirit is using these digital platforms to equip the saints and reach the next generation for Jesus.

Going Digital

Think of the internet as the new town square—a central place where people gather to meet, share life events and have fun. And like those old town squares, the internet can be the perfect place for an evangelist to witness and share the gospel with as many people as possible. But too many people neglect this outreach opportunity. In a June 2018 study, Barna Research found only 28 percent of Christians share their faith via social media.

That low evangelism rate is unacceptable for Jony Jimenez, creative director for UPPERROOM, a Dallas-based church. UPPERROOM streams all of its services online because, as Jimenez tells his team, "That's where the people are." Because of these online efforts, attendance is on the rise for both the digital and physical churches. Jimenez says it's because the digital offerings make more people in the community aware of the church's work.

But it's not just about raising church attendance. If captured correctly, a digital audience can exceed even the largest megachurch crowds. Clark Campbell—co-founder of RVRB (pronounced "reverb"), which promotes clients online through streaming and social media—says technology makes the Great Commission more achievable than ever. Campbell works with major charismatic ministries, including Christ for all Nations and Jesus Image, and has seen the results firsthand.

"It makes not only business or financial sense to amplify a ministry's message online, but also kingdom sense," Campbell says. "That's especially true when you're trying to advance the message of hope, restoration, healing and the gospel. 750,000 people can gather to hear the gospel in Nigeria during a CfaN crusade. What if 200,000 or even two million more could experience that online?"

Jimenez says the Holy Spirit can still speak and minister just as strongly through smartphones or a computer screen.

"We all experience the power of the Holy Spirit in various ways," Jimenez says. "It can happen through a movie, a billboard or other bizarre ways. ... In the same way, technology like iPhones are just devices that share information. That information can be inspiring, informative, funny, entertaining—or it can be Jesus. Phones have a way of being unbiased. They don't care what comes out of them. So our goal is to allow Holy Spirit to do His thing through YouTube, Instagram or Facebook."

Digital Babylon

Led by the Spirit, the internet can be a great kingdom tool. But it can also contain plenty of pitfalls for God's people.

For instance, though Jimenez supports online streaming for churches, he says God at first told UPPERROOM not to stream, post to social media or even have an online presence. Why? Because it might distract the fledgling church from what was truly important.

"The Lord was very specific early on about not going online or promoting our church," Jimenez says. "When the church started, we didn't have a website, Instagram, Facebook—nothing. Not because we didn't want it, but because the Lord told us to make it about Him and nothing else. Our goal was to minister to Him. When you lift Jesus, all men are drawn near. That's exactly what happened. Without any promotional marketing, people started showing up to church."

Two years later, the Lord clearly spoke to UPPERROOM'S leadership again—this time, urging them to put their church online. Now the church streams four services each week. During one season, the internet served as a snare for the church; during another, it was a gift from God.

"The internet is not good or bad," Campbell says. "The internet is just the method we use to advance the gospel."

Likewise, the same smartphones that bring the Bible to many around the world can be a spiritual hindrance to others.

"People have literal addictions to their devices and technology," Gruenewald says. "Some people have been able to use technology to successfully connect them to the Bible or connect to a church. But then there's others who say, 'Man, I have a tough time having my phone open, even if I'm reading my Bible, without being distracted by push notifications.' I think each person has to understand where their weaknesses are and what the challenges might be, and then manage that by putting appropriate boundaries in place."

Christians must also be cautious to influence their friends online—rather than being influenced themselves by the world. For this reason, David Kinnaman of Barna Research Group has even labeled the internet a "digital Babylon." He compares young Christians with Daniel and his peers, who were plunged into an entirely different world with a different worldview, one that opposed God. Daniel and his close friends were able to succeed in that environment, but many peers succumbed to the temptations of Babylon.

"Certain corners of the internet have become full of hate, despair and hopelessness," Campbell says. "I think Christians today, our generation, have the opportunity to stand in the middle of that fire and be God's light. We can be this power in the middle of that hell you find in some corners of the internet. We can use the internet for good—being a beacon of light, love, Jesus and hope."

Digital Harvest

To avoid those snares, Campbell ensures that he and his team at RVRB follow the Spirit's leading online, especially when working crusades and conferences. He says he's made Spirit-led digital presence a core tenet of his web philosophy since RVRB's founding: "Even though we're not working in vocational ministry, we are tapping into the same Spirit-led resources and mindset."

When that happens, the internet can bring ministries three powerful benefits.

First, having an internet-based church can help people at their most vulnerable. Distraught individuals may Google resources for depression, suicide or health concerns they're uncomfortable sharing with their pastors. Gruenewald's team utilizes technology to serve ads or articles that help those people when they need it most.

"In that moment, we're able to draw them into community," Gruenewald says. "That's something you [can't] do in a physical context—to be privately in someone's home ... at the moment when they're by themselves or vulnerable."

That ad can then lead people to an online church or community, giving them a path toward life instead of death.

"The internet provides some really neat evangelism opportunities to share the gospel with people who are hurting," Gruenewald says. "Digital tools give you the ability to do what pastors alone don't have the availability to do."

Second, the internet can drive church attendance and Bible study. Life.Church streams 84 services each week, with an average weekly attendance of 280,000. By comparison, Lakewood Church—the largest megachurch in the U.S.—averages approximately 52,000 people each week.

In addition, the YouVersion app has recorded more than 6.3 million Bible Plans started in 2019 alone. Within the first few weeks of January, more than 2.7 million of those plans were completed.

The app also tracks a statistic called "Plan Day Completes" that breaks down like this: Each Bible Plan varies from three days to one year in length. Plan Day Completes count each day that is finished across all plans people are reading. If someone is reading the Bible in a year, they may not have completed a Bible Plan yet, but may have 14 days completed. By mid-January, Life.Church tallied 48.6 million Plan Day Completes.

Third, the internet makes it easier than ever to reach beyond national borders and truly fulfill the Great Commission. Families can attend church services together even when separated by thousands of miles, in the case of deployed loved ones or missionaries serving overseas. In countries like India and Pakistan, where Christian churches are under constant persecution, the internet can provide a safe way for believers to attend church or fellowship with other believers.

"Technology is able to penetrate into countries and areas of the world where a physical church experience may be illegal," Gruenewald says.

There's never been a better time to go and make disciples. Finances, time or geography no longer have to be impediments to Christ's Great Commission: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, even to the end of the age" (Matt. 28:19-20). {eoa}
