PCC Joins Program for Free Access to Cultural Events Cache Translate Page

Longtime Tucson residents Russ and Mac Perlich saw a dire need for access to the arts in Arizona schools. But instead of bringing arts and culture to the classroom, they found a way to get students out to experience it in the real world.

Since 2013, they have managed a program called Culture Pass which partners with 11 public libraries in Tucson and 50 libraries in other parts of Arizona.…

http://jumpingjackflashhypothesis.blogspot.com/2012/02/jumping-jack-flash-hypothesis-its-gas.html

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

The 2018-19 season has been a disappointing one for the Arizona basketball program. While head coach Sean Miller continued to deal with the ongoing NCAA college basketball recruiting scandal investigation, the Wildcats failed to find their groove during the regular season and finished 9th in the Pac-12 with a 17-14 record. With winning the Pac-12 tournament the only way the Wildcats could appear in the NCAA tournament, the team is looking to take the upcoming tourney one game at a time. “Two things that we have to be able to control is just playing with great pride,” Miller said in a press conference in Tucson on Monday. “Alongside that pride is playing with great effort, and to look past your first opportunity is foolish whether you’re the one seed or the 12th seed.” Related Links Bobby Hurley: ASU wants to leave nothing to chance in Pac-12 Tourney Pac-12 men's basketball tournament seeding, schedule set UA's Sean Miller says address to fans after ASU loss wasn't goodbye The Wildcats are preparing for their

TRAINING TIP: Maintenance Running in Winter

Winter Training Tip

Winter is when many runners do not follow a specific training schedule, and often wonder how far and how hard they should be running during the “off-season.”

Instead of thinking of the November-February period as “off-season,” it is better to think of this period as “maintenance” mode, where the primary focus should be on maintaining an aerobic base. Most training miles should be in an easy, conversational pace, and the weekly training should follow these general guidelines:

  • Aim for 40-60 minutes of easy running, three to four times per week. Make one of those a longer run, but don’t aim for anything much longer than 90 minutes or so.
  • Mix up routes to keep boredom away, or run with friends or groups.
  • Take plenty of walk or water breaks if needed.

Once a week or every other week, it’s ok to go out and do some speed or hill work, but keep in mind that the level of effort in these workouts should be less than what is typically scheduled during racing season. The goal of these “maintenance” speed and hill sessions is not to perform at high levels, but to keep just a little bit of intensity in the weekly running regimen. Remember, the primary goal is to work on building a strong aerobic engine, which means lots of miles at slow, easy paces.

For a training plan that is designed specifically for REVEL downhill courses, consider the REVEL Online Coaching Program, which is designed by 20-time REVEL Marathon Finisher and Coach Paul Carmona, who has run multiple Boston Qualifiers on every REVEL course!

With winter fast approaching and colder temperatures the norm, going running means a little more preparation. Here are three things to consider before heading out for a cold weather run: Dress appropriately. As a rule of thumb, dress for weather 20 degrees warmer than the actual temperature outside. You may be a little chilly as you start, but once you get moving and generate sweat you’ll get comfortable, without getting too warm. Stay hydrated. In colder months, runners often neglect drinking adequate fluids. Because you sweat in both cold and warm seasons, it’s important to always take in enough fluids. Be visible. Colder temps also mean shorter days, which equal less light and more darkness. Take your personal safety and protection into your own hands by wearing a reflective vest and consider a headlamp and backlight too, for ultimate safety.

At mile 23 of the Mt hood marathon I was really hurting and stopped to walk. A lady (complete stranger) came up from behind and gave me encouragement and said you can do this and continued to stay with me and run next to me. What are the odds she also happened to be the bib # right before mine and we were caught in photos together almost wearing the same colors! What a great reminder of how kind and amazing runners are as people.

Seeking Volunteer YOUTH Coaches

Launch Team

The Launch Team is seeking volunteer coaches and youth participants in Salt Lake and Las Vegas to train for the REVEL Mt Charleston Half Marathon. Groups meet twice a week starting in February for training. Launch Team's mission is to get youth of all abilities off the couch and out running. Parents can also sign up and join their youth in training and at the race. Parents do not need to run the same pace as their youth. Running with proper technique makes runners more efficient meaning you can run longer, faster and safer. TOSH Orthopedics has four tips to help with your technique. More tips to follow in upcoming newsletters. 1. Stride angle, the angle formed by your thighs at toe off. This angle should be as wide and large as possible. Improved stride angle is accomplished through two key modifications; rear leg extension and a higher knee drive in the front leg. Both motions require strength and range of motion in the hips.

She was exactly what I needed to push through pain and exhaustion. What are the odds she also happened to be the bib # right before mine and we were caught in photos together almost wearing the same colors! What a great reminder of how kind and amazing runners are as people.

Desert Creosote Salve....Desert Rain Reserved listing for HB Comic by SENNAandSAGE Cache Translate Page

30.00 USD

Four 4 ounce glass jars of creosote salve.

This salve/balm can be used anywhere on your body but what I love it for (and I discovered completely by chance) is my face. I know. Crazy. I had super dry hands so I dipped my hand in some store-bought salve and I got way too much so I just wiped the excess on the backs of my arms. The next morning I could not believe how smooth my arms were. They had been a little bumpy....not sure what those little bumps are that you get on the back of your arms but whatever...they were gone! So the next night I tried it on my face....I felt that my face could use a little smoothing out....Oh my. Amazing! I used up that little tin of salve and checked out the ingredients and made up my own. Here it is. Try it. Use a Clarisonic, Oil of Olay Pro X or heck, just a facial brush to scrub the dead skin off and slather this on before bed and wake up to a new face!

This balm is made with wild harvested creosote from my property here in Tucson, AZ (see photos in listing). Creosote is that amazing desert rain smell that people talk about. If you've been here during monsoon season, you know what I'm talking about. I also sell creosote-infused oil and fresh creosote bundles to hang on your shower and experience 'desert rain' for yourself, no matter your geography. Check out my other listings for these wonderful, desert items.
