February 9, 2019 (Rancho San Diego) – Roberto Inchaurregui III, 27, of Spring Valley was arrested Feb. 7 for a stabbing that occurred Feb. 2 at the Arco AM/PM Mini Mart in Spring Valley.

Sheriff’s detectives from Rancho San Diego and the Crime Suppression Team arrested Inchaurregui at his parole agent’s office, then served a search warrant on the suspect’s home, where they recovered other items further linking Inchaurregui to the crime, says Sgt. Matt Cook II.

He was booked into the San Diego County Jail.

Un western a la manera crepuscular, donde los tiempos van cambiando y con ellos las personas que pueblan los durísimos lugares donde se desarrolla una muy inclemente historia, llena de salvajismo, crueldad e injusticia.



Muy bien narrada y con aspectos técnicos en verdad estimables, como la preciosa fotografía de Benoît Delhomme y la potente banda sonora de Nick Cave y Wallen Ellis, la cinta se sigue con verdadero interés, siendo muy entretenida en todo momento y con un clímax intenso in-crescendo.
Muy buenas interpretaciones y un final que cierra perfectamente la historia.

1 - BLM IN GREEN: Tuesday is when the fun begins. CFL Free Agency begins on Feb. 12 and now reigning league MVP Bo Levi Mitchell has surpassed Mike Reilly as the most-prized player on the market. Can you blame BLM for wanting to cash in while he can? He's accomplished all he can in Calgary - at a discount - and now deserves to be the league's highest-paid player in a market where he would be appreciated and adored. Hello Saskatchewan!

2 - THE NEXT QB: It was incredibly easy to predict the hirings of Craig Dickenson and Jason Shivers as the Riders' new Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator. I'm sure it wasn't difficult for Jeremy O'Day either, because the two were the best candidates by a mile. However predicting who will be the next QB of the Green & White is darn near impossible right now. However I'll say this: signing either Bo Levi Mitchell or Mike Reilly would immediately make your franchise a Grey Cup favourite. Is that worth $650,000-$700,000? I think so.

3 - PREDICTIONS: Not sure why but pretty well everywhere I go - even down here in Mexico - people are saying they don't expect much out of the Roughriders this year. That's bunk of course, and I'm not sure where that idea even came from. But the team's fate still rests almost entirely on the QB position and since we're potentially weeks away from that question being answered, I'll hold off on a prediction at least till then. Last year I forecasted 13 wins and the team ended up with 12. I'm optimistic for this season no matter who's behind centre. The win total prediction will be adjusted based on the calibre of QB.

4 - RIDERS IN AAF: The fledgling Alliance of American Football season kicks off this weekend. 5 - AMBROSIE WORLD TOUR: I'll say this for CFL Commissioner Randy Ambrosie -- he sure can get people talking. Whether these global partnerships with football federations work out or not remains to be seen but Ambrosie is busting his a$$ on behalf of this league and for that, hats off to him. The most interesting thing will be to see how these players measure up in the CFL Combine against their Canadian counterparts and in rookie camps against the Americans. However if at any point the level of play in the CFL drops off, the fans will sniff it out in a second.

7 - OILERS GM: The search for the next GM of the Edmonton Oilers has been very quiet. Insiders say the Oilers' top two choices are Kelly McCrimmon and Mark Hunter. Also on the list could be Bill Guerin, Ken Holland and/or Mike Futa. It would appear McCrimmon is the #1 choice but it could create a conundrum for Kelly; does he accept an offer from Edmonton, or turn it down in hopes of landing the Seattle job?

8 - WRANGLERS: Kudos to the WHL's Calgary Hitmen for their Corral Series this week where they hosted 3 games in the Calgary Corral, donning comemmorative jerseys to honour the Cowboys, Centennials and Wranglers. They also hosted hot stove events to visit with Calgary junior hockey greats. This stuff gives me tingles! And the Wranglers were the first team my Dad ever worked for, so this series brought up a lot of emotions for me. The list of Wranglers alum is star-studded, including Mike Vernon, Dana Murzyn and Doug Houda. Good on 'em for remembering the past. I'd say we need to fire up the old Pats Faceoff Breakfasts in Regina and do the same here.

9 - FEEL THE RUSH: Saturday is Lacrosse Day in Saskatchewan (and Hockey Day in Canada, ironically) and the Saskatchewan Rush host a huge swing game Saturday night at SaskTel Centre when they welcome the Calgary Roughnecks. The Rush have lost two in a row and stand at 3-3. So, the question is; is the dynasty cracking, or can the ship be righted against the Rush's top rival? Very exciting! I'll be following the game on B/R Live.

10 - MESSED UP IN MEXICO: That's not me! And I'm not going to be like some of the others who are rubbing it in on Facebook that it's +29 here and -50 in Saskatchewan. However I am extremely grateful. After this stint in Puerta Vallarta, we're going to be venturing over to Huatulco which will be a first for me. I'm quite happy in this new phase of my life. Actually, far happier than I thought I'd be. Buenos Dias!

MLB the Show 19 developer San Diego Studios released a new trailer for the March 26 PS4 title, teasing new wrinkles for the game's modes.

Amidst the trailer's quick cuts of heroic baseball moments are sprinkled in some teases of changes to the game's various modes.

For Road to the Show this includes training minigames, inherent player strengths/weaknesses affecting progression through last year's archetypes, a tiered perks tree, selectable in-game dynamic challenges for attribute growth, and more.

Via the developer's livestream schedule, Diamond Dynasty is undergoing a "paradigm shift" that the trailer hints at via Conquest challenges and new legends like Willie Mays. The trailer shows off the ability to play through iconic moments in legendary players' careers – whether this is part of Diamond Dynasty or an entirely separate mode remains to be seen. The livestream schedule lists a "new game mode" called Moments, but the trailer shows that playing through Babe Ruth's career, for instance, earns you Diamond Dynasty XP and stubs. If Moments is entirely distinct, maybe their progression is tied together via the currencies.

San Diego Studio is hyping gameplay such as more player differentiation, situational awareness, and expression of player attributes, as well as changes to the controversial PCI, and general hitting and pitching improvements.

Finally, for franchise mode lovers, contract extensions are listed, but let's hope there's more for this mode.

Some years ago I was reading about him. He grew up in Tijuana and Chula Vista in San Diego County., graduated high school in Chula Vista. He had hoped to get an offer from an MLS side out of high school or college after he played a year at San Diego State. Never got an offer, but got one from Tijuana Xolos while they were still in the second division. He has probably made more money in Mexico than he would have in MLS, but it was originally his preferred destination, so this is not a surprise. However, his position is one where the Galaxy are overstocked. They will probably trade their rights to him.

This weekend the Alliance of American Football kicks off its first week of existence, providing football to fans eager to watch, analyze, and of course bet on their favorite sport.

While the public now knows the rules, rosters, and coaching staffs of each team in the new league, their quality is still unknown, and viewers won't be able to get a real sense of who's good and who's not until the games this weekend, making this Saturday a unique opportunity for gamblers.

Sports bettors are usually attempting to outsmart the books and their fellow bettor to predict the future. No matter how well you think you know football, the sportsbook will always be better informed, making finding an edge in NFL near-impossible for casual bettors.

But the AAF presents a wholly different proposition to bettors this weekend — this is mostly a football version of roulette, and some of the bookmakers in Las Vegas are admitting as much.

Jay Kornegay, VP of Race and Sports Operations at the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook, described booking the AAF before a game had been played as "A little bit of a crapshoot," to Vegas Stats & Information Network on Friday.

Nobody knows anything about how these teams play beyond the few players we are familiar with from their NFL or college days. The sport will still be football, and we can even bet on it, but rather than betting the Patriots, Rams, Eagles, or Steelers, we can bet on Mystery Team A or Mystery Team B — in this case, the Orlando Apollos or Atlanta Legends.

For serious sports bettors, this is an excellent opportunity to look for an edge over the books if you think you can find one. Read up and watch all the film you can find, and maybe you can crack the code before Las Vegas does and make some money. I wish you luck!

I think this is too fun an opportunity to waste on studying. It's a crapshoot! I love shooting craps! Except for this time the dice I'm throwing are eight teams with fun names that will play by the rules of football that I know very well, instead of the rules of craps, which still confuse me every time I step up to a table.

Below are our best bets for Week 1 of the AAF season.

Orlando Apollos (-4.5) over Atlanta Legends

With so little information known about any of the teams playing this weekend, laying a 4.5-point favorite is admittedly, a bit ridiculous — why not take the points that are virtually free?

First, I do not want to bet against Apollos head coach Steve Spurrier, who, at 73 years old, can still probably coach the heck out of a football game.

Meanwhile, the Atlanta Legends were supposed to be led by Brad Childress, but the former Vikings coach abruptly left the team in January, with Kevin Coyle taking over the role.

Again, it's insane not to take the points in this spot, but this entire endeavor of betting on a brand new football league is somewhat insane, to begin with, so why not lean in?



San Antonio Commanders (-2.5) over San Diego Fleet

While the Legends were cut short by the premature departure of Brad Childress, the San Diego Fleet lost quarterback Josh Johnson, who was likely to be one of the most talented quarterbacks in the league, to the NFL after he took over for the Redskins amid a slew of injuries.

With the Fleet working to replace the most critical position on the field, I'm backing the San Antonio Commanders to win in their debut.



Memphis Express (+3) over Birmingham Iron

AAF

Christian Hackenberg is back playing meaningful football.

After flaming out in the NFL, Hackenberg has found a home with the Memphis Express, leading to one of the most intriguing storylines the league has to offer — could the AAF offer players an opportunity to prove they're still NFL-ready?

Both Hackenberg and Iron running back Trent Richardson will likely be looking to do so, but in this game, we're taking the points.

A few months after Apple sued Qualcomm two years ago, the chipmaker started a patent enforcement campaign in three jurisdictions (U.S., Germany, and China). Almost two years have passed, but Qualcomm has yet to prove two thirds of its enterprise value (that's what the company's patent licensing business accounts for as was stated repeatedly during last month's FTC antitrust trial) in litigation. If one focused on only a few mainstream media headlines, one might be (mis)led to believe that Qualcomm gained serious leverage in China and Germany, and had a decent chance of achieving the same in the U.S., but headlines can answer only some of the world's most important questions. Patent enforcement isn't one of them.

It's one thing to obtain a favorable ruling. It's another to obtain a favorable and impactful ruling on a lasting basis. As fast-paced as this industry undoubtedly is, ephemeral results don't get major disputes settled.

There's no indication (otherwise the stock market would know) of Qualcomm's Chinese injunctions having had an impact on Apple's ability to sell or make products there. At least for the time being it appears that software updates have indeed solved the problem, which is plausible since that's what usually happens when non-standard-essential software patents are enforced. I've been interested in this subject since my NoSoftwarePatents campaign, which I started in 2004, and I've never seen a case where a software patent killed an entire product. The response has always been a software update. There's no reason to assume it shouldn't work in China.

Patent injunctions ban products that come with a particular set of technical characteristics. They don't ban products just based on their name regardless of what's inside. That would be the domain of trademark law.

As for Germany, most of Qualcomm's lawsuits there have been a failure even in strictly formal terms. The one injunction (technically, a pair of injunctions over the same patent but enjoining different Apple entities) Qualcomm obtained there

Guess how many of the mainstream media--even if one includes high-traffic IT-specialized websites--that reported on the German injunction cared to publish a follow-up on one of those three developments, or (which would make the most sense) the combination of all three?

None. At least I can't google anything. What I've been able to google, however, is that they all got the amount of the required deposit wrong until Qualcomm announced that it had, as only this blog had said from the beginning, laid down approximately $1.5 billion (all other media had previously stated only half of that figure).

Forget mainstream media headlines. Seriously, forget them when it comes to patent litigation. The general public will pay attention to a product "ban" even if it's more or less inconsequential. Some reporters struggle with legal procedures, but even those who are familiar with litigation in general often miss the specific procedural aspects of patent infringement and invalidation proceedings--or at least the technical aspects, but the economic relevance of a patent injunction depends on technical implications.

The beauty of the Internet is that those who really care to know what's going on have more choices than ever, and somewhere one may find the actual facts, as opposed to fake news. The workaround for that German injunction is a great example: an indie website, WinFuture.de, found out about it from retailers. The news agencies didn't. Nor did the major IT news networks. But the latter all reported on the "ban."

Getting back to the actual subject. Qualcomm has apparently had zero impact in China (other than headlines) and next to zero impact in Germany (again, other than headlines). What about the U.S.?

  • Qualcomm's first ITC complaint against Apple is down to one patent, and the Commission (the six-member decision-making body at the top of the U.S. trade agency) asked nine questions, any one of which could be answered in a way to dispose of whatever little is left of that case. In that case, the public interest (with a view to which an Administrative Law Judge advised against an import ban regardless of the merits of the infringement allegations) won't even have to be analyzed. Apple and Qualcomm submitted comments on the aforementioned nine technical questions and the public interest last week, but they are are still sealed.

  • In mid-September, an evidentiary hearing (= trial) was held in the investigation of Qualcomm's second ITC complaint against Apple. No violation was found, and ITC staff spoke out against an import ban, though rumor has it that the staff has changed its position on the public interest.

    On Tuesday, ALJ MaryJoan McNamara entered a scheduling order. While she'd have preferred to add only 35 days (= the length of the recent government shutdown) to the due dates in that case, she experienced "ripple effects [from the shutdown] across most of [her] [i]nvestigations,"< so she had to add more time. As a result, the target date for her initial determination on the merits (ID) and recommended determination on remedy (RD) has had to be pushed back from January 22 to March 26. The target date for the final Commission decision is always four months after the ID/RD, i.e., July 26.

    It's not over yet for Qualcomm, but there's a relatively high likelihood now of both investigations ending without a finding of a violation, which--should it play out that way--would be a total disaster for Qualcomm's lawyers.

  • When I first commented on the summary judgment that came down in the Southern District of California companion case to Qualcomm's first ITC complaint against Apple, I focused on the holding that the U.S. equivalent of the German injunction patent wasn't infringed. It's also worth noting that the same order granted an Apple motion to preclude Qualcomm from seeking pre-suit damages. This means that even if Qualcomm prevailed on the merits of any of the patents-in-suit in that San Diego action, the damages period would begin in the spring of 2017. As a result, that case (which will go to trial soon) is about a small amount of money--I'm wondering whether it's even going to be enough to cover, in the best case for Qualcomm, the litigation costs.

    For the sake of complete coverage, the summary judgment order agreed with Qualcomm that Apple could not hold one particular prior art reference against one of the patents-in-suit. However, Qualcomm's motion with respect to another prior art reference targeting the same patent was denied, so the patent might still be deemed invalid--and with all the progress Apple and Intel have made with their petitions for PTAB IPRs (inter partes reviews), Qualcomm's patent invalidity worries are huge.

It's easier to make patent royalty demands, or to propose arbitration, on the basis of owning 130,000 patents than to prove that a single one of those patents

  • is actually infringed,

  • is valid,

  • is not licensed,

  • is not exhausted, and

  • can't just be worked around with a software update or minor hardware modification.

There are a few folks with ECU ties who are involved in the new league and we had the chance to catch up with a couple of them. We discussed numerous aspects of the AAF with Greg Herring, who is the VP of Marketing with the Memphis Express while also hearing from former ECU All-Conference tight end and current Arizona Hotshot Bryce Williams. The Pirates also have former quarterback Philip Nelson with the San Diego Fleet and we look forward to catching up with the talented signal-caller down the road.
