I have 1975 Radom P64 that I would like to sell or trade for another surplus firearm.
The Radom P64 is essentially a Walther PPk/CZ50 clone (not a Makarov) made by  Polish arms maker, Fabryka Broni Radom. The pistol is know for its reliability and is chambered in 9mm Makarov, but like most European handguns of the 20th century, it is very "snappy".
It has a little wear but the bluing is fine, and the rifling is good.
Makes a decent conceal carry.
Comes with original Polish holster and 2 magazines.

What are the options for the NFL's quarterback-needy teams this offseason?      Cache   Translate Page
There is a dearth of talent available to NFL teams who are desperate to land a franchise quarterback ahead of the 2019 season. The big picture: Whether we’re looking at NFL free agency or the 2019 NFL Draft, it’s just a bad year for quarterback-needy teams. Teams that need a franchise passer: There are at least five teams desperate to land a difference-maker. Miami Dolphins: Ryan Tannehill is all but gone — quite literally. He has been erased from the team’s media room. There really isn’t anyone behind him worthy of being called a starter. New York Giants: Eli Manning is said to be the likely starter in 2019, but he’s well past his prime. Alex Tanney and Kyle Lauletta are not the answer. Washington Redskins: Alex Smith won’t play in 2019, if ever, and Washington can’t rely on Colt McCoy for an entire season. Jacksonville Jaguars: Blake Bortles is on his way out. There’s really nobody behind him who can give this team a fighting chance every week. Denver Broncos: The Case Keenum experiment went poorly in 2018

NFL Draft 2019: Dolphins, Broncos, Jaguars, Redskins, Giants Looking For A Quarterback?      Cache   Translate Page
The quickest way to achieve success in the NFL is to find a reliable quarterback, but not every team was able to do that in 2018. For teams like the Jacksonville Jaguars, Denver Broncos, New York Giants and Washington Redskins, finding a signal-caller this offseason could prove vital to success in 2019 and beyond. The Broncos could theoretically keep Case Keenum around and the Giants will probably start Eli Manning for one more year. The Jaguars seem done with Blake Bortles and the Redskins will need help to stay competitive after Alex Smith’s potentially career-ending injury.

8 February 1842: Deutscher Zollverein & Luxembourg      Cache   Translate Page
February 8, 1842
The Hague, The Netherlands

On this day William II (1792-1849) King of the Netherlands and Grand Duke of Luxembourg (1840-1849) executes the agreement for the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to become a member of the Deutscher Zollverein (German Customs Union), effective on April 1, 1842. The German Customs Union regulates and facilitates the movement of goods within its members’ territories. The treaty is published in the Mémorial Législatif et Administratif du Grand-Duché de LuxembourgNo 12 for the year 1842.
The agreement is executed (in representation) between:
His Majesty the King of Prussia representing the then other members: the Crowns of Bavaria, Saxony and Württemberg; Grand Duchy of Baden; Electorate of Hessen [German: Kurfürstenthum Hessen]; Grand Duchy of Hessen; the Customs and Trade Union of Thuringia representing the Grand Duchy of Saxony; the Duchies Saxe-Meiningen; Saxe-Altenburg and Saxe-Coburg and Gotha; and the Principalities Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt and Schwarzburg-Sondershausen, Reuss-Greitz, Reuss-Schleitz and Reuss-Lobenstein and Ebersdorf; the Duchies of Brunswick and Nassau, and the Free City of Frankfurt,
And
His Majesty the King of the Netherlands and Grand Duke of Luxembourg
Signed for the King of Prussia by:
Hermann Friedrich, Reichsgraf von Wylich und Lottum (1767-1841)
Signed for the King – Grand Duke by:
Frédéric-Georges-Prosper de Blochausen (1802-1886)
The 23 articles treaty specifies in its last article the duration of the agreement as follows: (Translation)
The duration of the present agreement, which upon execution becomes effective on April 1, 1842 is set to last until March 1846. If within at least nine months before the expiration of this period no termination notice by either side is given, then the agreement is extended for a six-year term, and in the same way always considered to be further extended from six to six years. The same will soon be submitted to all parties of the interested governments, and the instruments of ratification shall be exchanged with the greatest possible diligence within six weeks in Berlin.
Done at The Hague, February 8, 1842.
Associating the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to the German Customs Union is one of the most crucial and beneficial acts executed under the Dutch Kings-Grand Dukes as it allowed the minor trade and industries of backwater Luxembourg to penetrate a large market; as of 1871 the German Empire. It also allowed German capitals to flow to Luxembourg when needed to finance the soon flourishing iron ore exploitation industry; build blast furnaces and steel mills and take advantage of synergies between the local steel mills and German coal mines. In 1872 the agreement was renewed for a 40 year period which in 1902 was extended to 1959. However, following the 1914 invasion of Luxembourg, the treaty was terminated in December of 1918 and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg subsequently associated its economic destiny with the Kingdom of Belgium in the Union Économique Belgo-Luxembourgeoise (UEBL). Signed in 1921 for a fifty-year duration, the agreement was renewed for 10-year terms in 1982 and 1992 and replaced in 2002 by a new treaty referred to as convention UEBL (Brussels, December 18, 2002).

Code Camps and Speaker Feedback      Cache   Translate Page

Originally posted on: http://geekswithblogs.net/archive/2010/09/18/code-camps-and-speaker-feedback.aspx

Code camps are a great resource for the local development community. They provide developers and speakers (who are almost always local developers as well) a way to interact and learn about topics they otherwise might not have an opportunity.

As a speaker, it is always great to see new people in my talks and answer questions since in almost every talk, someone asks a question I haven’t heard before. One of the things that most speakers, including myself, like getting is feedback. We want to know what you thought of the presentation, both the material and the delivery. It used to be that most code camps passed out evaluation forms to provide this feedback. The problem with forms is that they were easy to loose and required a person to manually tally up all the evaluations to generate an overall rating. As a result, most code camps have stopped passing out evaluation forms. While I understand the reasons behind this, I still like getting feedback. It’s one of the tools I use to continually become a better speaker.

I have previously talked about SpeakerRate, but since then I’ve been using the site more to fill out my speaker profile. In doing so, I’ve learned a bit more about how events are setup on the site and how they are associated with a series. When it comes to series, you can think of this as the root (parent). An event is a child of the series, and a talk is a child of the event. Once I understood this, I started creating series for the various Florida code camps.

The guidelines I am following are this:

  1. The series is named “Code Camp – [State] – [Location]”, where [Location] is either the city and state or geographic region and [State] is, obviously, the state. This has the benefit of grouping all of the code camps together to make them easier to find. (This does, of course, break down for code camps that are not located in the United States but I think we could probably come up with a variation of this, perhaps “Code Camp – [Country] – [Location]”.)
  2. The event names are “[Code Camp Name] – [Year]”. For example, the South Florida code camp event for 2010 would be listed as “South Florida Code Camp – 2010”. Technically, including the year in the event name is redundant since it displays the event date, but since almost all of the interaction with SpeakerRate is done via events it makes it easy to find them.

If you are a code camp organizer I highly recommend setting up an event and series for your code camp. It gives your speakers an easy way to get feedback without much work on your part. If you’re a speaker, you should definitely setup a speaker profile and add your talks. If you add a talk before the code camp organizers have created the event, you can create the event (and series if necessary) on their behalf, just be sure to follow the guidelines above.

For the Florida code camps, the following series have been created:

*[I have asked for that year’s entry to be associated with the series and renamed, if necessary, to be consistent. If you are (or know) the person who originally created the event, please update it so the SpeakerRate staff doesn’t have to.]

A Look Back At the Mets AAA Affiliate Tidewater Tides      Cache   Translate Page
In 1969 the New York Mets changed their AAA affiliate from Jacksonville, where the Jacksonville Suns played,to Tidewater, Virginia.

Tidewater is located in the area of southeast Virginia (Norfolk & Portsmouth) & northeastern North Carolina . The area got its name because of the changing tides in local rivers, sounds & the Atlantic Ocean. The Tides would play at Metropolitan Memorial Park from 1970-1992.

The Tides became familiar to Mets fans of the seventies & eighties, as we knew that's where the players who hadn't been traded, or later signed as free agents, came from out of the minor leagues.

The Tidewater Tides got to the playoffs in their first season.  After two years of losing in the first round, they got to the finals & became league champions in 1972 under Hank Bauer. Pitchers like Buzz Capra, Harry Parker (14 wins), Brent Strom, Tommy Moore (11 wins), Chuck Taylor (9 wins) & Barry Raziano (10 wins). Dave Schneck, Don Hahn, George Theodore & Jose Morales made up the offense.

In 1975 the Tides were league champs under manager Joe Frazier who would get the Mets big league managerial position the next year. His MLB results weren't as good as with the Tides. Players like Roy Staiger (81 RBIs) Brock Pemberton (.297 Ave) Bruce Boisclair, Mike Vail, Ron Hodges & Benny Ayala made up the offense.

Although they had limited MLB action, they never matched their minor league success. As was typical with Mets minor leagues, they had a soild pitching staff, consisting of Craig Swan (13 wins), Nino Espinosa (8 wins), Randy Sterling (10 wins), Dwight Bernard (9 wins) & Bill Laxton (11 wins).

Over the next six years, the Tides would make the playoffs three times but be eliminated in the first round each time, under managers Frank Verdi (twice) & former Met Jack Aker. Aker would skipper the team to league champs in 1982 & then as the team repeated in 1983, Davey Johnson took over the helm. Many of these players were part of the Mets 1986 Championship team & quality teams of the mid to late eighties.

Pitchers like Ron Darling (10 wins) Walt Terrell (10 wins) Tim Leary (8 wins) & a guy named Jeff Bittiger (12 wins) led the staff. On the field Darryl Strawberry, Wally Backman, Kevin Mitchell, Rafael Santana, Ron Gardenhire, Jose Oquendo, Mike Fitzgerald,  with guys like Rusty Tillman & Mike Howard who never made it big in the majors.

In 1986 Mets coach Sam Perlozzo took over & as the big league team won the World Series, the Tides got to the playoffs but fell in the first round.

Mike Cubbage would take over & get to two finals in a row but lost both times. Cubbage was always being looked at as the Mets future manager, but it never turned out that way, except for a brief period in 1991.

In the early 1990's Steve Swisher managed for two years. Then Clint Hurdle, who became a very successful MLB manager, took over as the last skipper of the Tidewater Tides.

In 1992 a new ownership took over, the team moved to Harbor Park & for marketing, as well as political reasons, the changed their name to the Norfolk Tides. The next  year they introduced the mascot, Rip Tide.

The Tides were the Mets AAA affiliate for 38 years, ending the relationship in 2006, when the Mets AAA team became the New Orleans Zephyers (2007-2008). They then moved to Buffalo (2009-2011) & then Las Vegas (2013-2018).
