Bonner General Health Hospital Supervisor - 173 Location Sandpoint, ID Type Full Time Share this posting Department: Nursing Services Status: Full Time; 72 hours per pay period Shift: Nights; 6:00 pm – 06:00 am; actual days worked to be determined Summary Under administrative direction, assumes responsibility for supervision of hospital services and patient care for a specific period of time. The Hospital Supervisor holds responsibility for translating administrative concepts and goals into concrete activities. The Hospital Supervisor is accountable to the Nurse Manager for Department of Nursing Services, the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), Hospital Administration, the Patient and his/her family. Primary Functions + Provides leadership and direction to nursing and house wide personnel that is supportive of administration and management in harmony with organizational and departmental goals and objectives + Supports and interprets administrative decisions to staff + Supports and maintains operational objectives at the patient care level + In the absence of Nurse Managers and other department heads, coordinates and manages the activities of Bonner General Health in order to provide quality patient care + Reports to Nurse Managers and other department heads on educational, disciplinary, and quality care needs to bridge the shifts of 3-11 and 11-7 with 7-3 on weekends/holidays + Contributes to Nursing and BGH through support of its philosophy, objectives, and educational efforts + Serves as a clinical resource person in assisting nursing personnel to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care + May provide direct care to patients and assist with care in other nursing areas + Plans, supervises, and coordinates patient care activities for all nursing departments on behalf of the Nurse Managers and CNO + Actively participates as a cooperative member of the leadership team in development of mutual goals and objectives in problem solving and in development of policy and procedure + Maintains strict confidentiality regarding knowledge of all patient information (HIPAA), confidential staff and hospital business + Additional Essential Functions as outlined in the Job Description Requirements Skills + Basic computer literacy and ability to effectively learn new software programs required; Competency in an area of acute care; Satisfactory performance appraisal in all essential functions; Ability to read/write legibly, communicate/comprehend the written and spoken word in English; Effective communication skills required; Must be able to organize, prioritize tasks, schedules, messages, etc., with persistence, tact, and patience; Must be able to function independently as well as a team member; Must be mentally alert and possess critical thinking and problem solving abilities; Demonstrates leadership abilities with a knowledge of administrative policy and skills Education Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program, BSN preferred; Continuing education programs in past year preferred Experience Minimum three (3) years’ experience as charge nurse, supervisor or manager in an acute care setting; Management experience or documented background of management principal and theory preferred Licensure/Certification Maintain current RN license in the State of Idaho; Maintains current CPR, ACLS, PALS, DMAB and Procedural Sedation Certifications required; NRP and TNCC preferred Physical Demands As outlined in the Job Description Supervised By CNO Bonner General Health Our Hospital Established in 1949, Bonner General Health (BGH) is a non-profit, critical access hospital, serving a community of approximately 57,000 in the scenic panhandle of Idaho. Recuerda también al respecto que los lácteos aportan desde el punto de vista nutricional una serie de nutrientes, proteínas de alta calidad, vitaminas -fundamentalmente B2- y minerales -calcio principalmente- que no se encontrarán en otro tipo de productos, y que son «muy beneficiosos» sobre todo «en una sociedad en la que por lo general se intentan consumir pocas calorías y suele tener problemas de peso como consecuencia de su sedentarismo». 3) Lácteos enriquecidos, sí, pero con información En este sentido, considera «interesante» los lácteos enriquecidos en Omega 3, calcio, vitamina D... que se pueden encontrar actualmente en los lineales de los supermercados, aunque considera que «falta información o el asesoramiento de un experto» para que el consumidor sepa cuál es la alternativa que más le conviene. 4) ¿Mejor un yogur, un vaso de leche o un trozo de queso? «Un consumo adecuado para la población podría consistir en tomar, cada día, un vaso de leche grande (de entre 200 y 250 mililitros al menos), dos yogures y una porción de queso que puede varias, en función del tipo, entre 30 y 60 gramos», explica esta catedrática de Nutrición, quien destaca que la recomendación es «diversificar para cubrir las ingestas sugeridas, por ejemplo de calcio» y advierte que «no se puede considerar tomar un vaso de leche a manchar con una gota un café cortado». «A veces se piensa que se puede sustituir el calcio de la leche por otros alimentos y es bastante difícil», apunta Rosa María Ortega, y pone como ejemplo: «para tomar el mismo calcio que aporta un vaso de leche habría que ingerir 80 gramos de sardinas enlatadas o 75 gramos de semillas de sésamo», una dieta «un tanto peculiar» para esta experta, quien recuerda que la recomendación está en tomar «entre dos y cuatro productos lácteos al día -esta cantidad última, recomendada fundamentalmente para embarazadas y deportistas». 5) No produce más mucosidad ni provoca cálculos renales «No existe ningún fundamento científico que lo demuestre», señala la experta, «y tampoco es cierto que provoque asma o resfriados». Recuerda que antes era de lo primero que se quitaba cuando una persona tenía cálculos renales pero con el tiempo se ha visto que consumir leche de vaca que no contiene oxalato, pero aporta el calcio necesario, es bueno para quienes son propensos a padecerlos.
