Το 3ο Γυμνάσιο Ηγουμενίτσας, αποδεχόμενο με ενθουσιασμό την πρόταση - πρόκληση του Εργαστηριακού Κέντρου Φυσικών Επιστημών Θεσπρωτίας (Ε.Κ.Φ.Ε.), εισάγει στην εκπαίδευση των μαθητών του, μια σύγχρονη προσέγγιση στην καλλιέργεια κριτικής σκέψης, στην ανάπτυξη δεξιοτήτων και στην επίλυση των προβλημάτων. Τα Μαθηματικά και η Φυσική, ζωτικές επιστήμες για την κατανόηση της ζωής μας, εμπλέκονται με την Τεχνολογία και την Μηχανική (S.T.E.M – Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics,) σε μια βιωματική διαδικασία εκπαίδευσης με τρόπο ελκυστικό, καθώς δίνεται έμφαση στο πειραματικό μέρος.

Ομάδα 18 μαθητών μας από την Β΄ και Γ τάξη, θα εκπαιδευτεί σε μια - ανοιχτού κώδικα- ψηφιακή πλατφόρμα με ονομασία “Arduino” με την βοήθεια της οποίας κάποιος χωρίς ιδιαίτερες γνώσεις προγραμματιστή μπορεί εύκολα να την χρησιμοποιήσει και να κατασκευάσει εφαρμογές ρομποτικής και συστήματα αυτοματισμού. Τα μαθήματα θα πραγματοποιούνται απογευματινές ώρες αφενός για να μην εμποδίζεται η πρωινή εκπαιδευτική διαδικασία και αφετέρου για να γίνεται πλήρης εκμετάλλευση του εργαστηρίου Ηλεκτρονικών Υπολογιστών του σχολείου. Τελικός στόχος η κατασκευή 2 διαδραστικών ψηφιακών κατασκευών οι οποίες ευελπιστούμε να παρουσιαστούν σε επόμενη ανακοίνωση.

Βασικός εκπαιδευτής και συμπαραστάτης στην όλη προσπάθεια θα είναι ο εκλεκτός συνάδελφος Φυσικός και υπεύθυνος του Ε.Κ.Φ.Ε. Θεσπρωτίας κος Νούσης Βασίλειος, τον οποίον και ευχαριστούμε θερμότατα.

I’m working on a small personal project called wildcat, designed to function in a similar way to the “days since last incident” signs you often see in factories:

…but to track how long it’s been since our new cat has last misbehaved! (She’s a bit liberal with her claws).

The approach I’ve taken is to use an ESP8266 (Adafruit Feather Huzzah, specifically) with a 16x8 LED matrix to display how long it’s been since the last incident, with a button on the back which lets you reset the timer.

Behind the scenes, this is using Adafruit IO to store a timestamp of the latest incident, which it then uses to calculate how long to show on the display.

(I’m sure I could have done all this locally with a different type of Arduino, a real time clock, and some non-volatile memory, but I don’t have any of those things - plus this gives me the benefit of being able to do things like add Alexa integration at a later date).

Anyway, it’s software side of things is pretty much done (at least for this stage), I just need to figure out the best way of assembling it all - but for now, I’m hoping someone with some Arduino/C++ experience might be able to take a look at my code, please?

I’m using PlatformIO, so if you’re not familiar with this, just take a look at my main.ino file.

I welcome any and all feedback. I’m quite proud of what I’ve gotten so far, but I know it can be better.

          Eine Chance für Open Hardware: das Recht auf Reparatur      Cache   Translate Page      

In einer Zeit, in der große Teile der technischen Apparate Daten verarbeiten, hat die Forderung nach transparenter Technik einen hohen Stellenwert: Wie erfasst das Smartphone seine Umgebung, welche Daten werden erhoben und wohin gelangen sie? Open Source, das Offenlegen des technischen Aufbaus und die Verwendung von freien Lizenzen, ist hier das bekannte Schlagwort. Während Open Source für den Bereich der Software ein verbreitetes Thema ist und freie Software weite Teile der Softwareentwicklung bereichert, steckt Open Source Hardware noch in den Kinderschuhen. Schlimmer noch: Wer sich an die 50er und 60er Jahre erinnert, weiß, dass der Schaltplan oft fester Bestandteil erworbener Geräte war. Heute verschwinden sie immer mehr in verklebten Gehäusen und sollen möglichst wenige Gründe zum Öffnen geben – eine technische Dokumentation liefert nur die nötigsten Informationen.

Wenn wir uns nicht weiter von der Technik entkoppeln, wenn wir ihr Herrschaftspotential verringern möchten, muss es grundsätzlich die Möglichkeit geben, sie zu durchdringen. Das erfordert eine offene Dokumentation, aber auch ein Design der Geräte selbst, welches das Öffnen ermöglicht. Diese Forderungen stechen sich mit dem allgemeinen Verständnis von der Vermarktung von technischen Geräten: Gibt es eine offene Dokumentation, so ist die Angst groß, dass andere sie gleichermaßen vermarkten. Produzierende, wie Arduino, XYZ Cargo und andere, zeigen allerdings, dass es auch anders geht. Der Verdacht ist groß, dass der Wille klein ist, neue Geschäftsmodelle zu entwickeln. Lieber wird sich auf das Altbekannte verlassen.

Open Hardware: Um was geht es genau?

Offene Technologien prägen Diskussionen um Verteilungs-, Sicherheits- und Innovationsfragen - dabei sind auch Patentfragen immer wieder das Thema. Denn technische Geräte unterliegen rechtlich erst mal nicht dem Urheberrecht. Erst das Patent verwehrt die Nachnutzung durch Dritte. Geht es bei Open Hardware also schlicht um die Patentierung? Nein: Wie auch bei Software ermöglicht es erst die Dokumentation ein Produkt vollständig zu verstehen – mit dem Unterschied, dass bei Hardware von der Dokumentation auch die Reproduzierbarkeit abhängt: “Open source hardware is hardware whose design is made publicly available so that anyone can study, modify, distribute, make, and sell the design or hardware based on that design,” (Open Source Hardware Association).
Die Frage, wie diese Offenlegung des Designs für Hardware genau auszusehen hat, ist weitaus schwerer zu beantworten als für Software – zu viele Parameter spielen für die Reproduzierbarkeit eine Rolle. Eine konkrete und praxistaugliche Anleitung zur Dokumentation von Open Hardware hat das Forschungsprojekt „OPEN! Methods and tools for community-based product development“ entwickelt. Antworten zur Frage nach der richtigen Lizenz gibt die Open Source Hardware Association.

Das Recht auf Reparatur macht Open Hardware vermittelbar

Es scheinen also viele Weichen gestellt, um Open Hardware praktisch umzusetzen. Warum passiert trotzdem so wenig? Eine Antwort ist die fehlende Öffentlichkeit: Open Hardware ist ein schwer vermittelbares Nischenthema.
Das Recht auf Reparatur kann das ändern. Es kann Open Hardware aus der Blase der technisch Involvierten heraustragen und für Laien greifbar problematisieren. Denn hier zeigt sich für Verbrauchende ganz praktisch welche Hürden aus geschlossenen Systemen entstehen, wie schwer es ist, defekten Geräten zu neuer Funktion zu verhelfen: Verklebte Gehäuse verhindern das Öffnen, fehlende Dokumentationen das Nachvollziehen, kaum vorhandene Ersatzteile das Reparieren. Radikal: Das Gerät gehört nicht wirklich den Kaufenden. Um es sein Eigentum nennen zu können, müssen die Kaufenden auch das Recht und die Möglichkeit der Reparatur haben.

Mehr Öffentlichkeit für das EU-Ecodesign-Paket!

Auf EU-Ebene gibt es aktuell kaum wahrgenommene Anstrengungen, das Recht auf Reparatur zu strukturieren. Wir müssen diese Debatte nutzen und befeuern, um Open Hardware greifbar zu kommunizieren und rechtlich zu verankern. Konkret geht es um das EU-Ecodesign-Paket, dessen Beschließung noch bis vor Kurzem auf unbestimmte Zeit verschoben werden sollte. Ein offener Brief sowie eine Petition haben dazu beigetragen, das zu verhindern. Dennoch braucht es mehr Druck, damit die Entscheidung im Sinne der Verbraucher getroffen wird. Indem wir die Debatte mit den Erfahrungen und Forderungen aus dem Bereich der Open Hardware bereichern, tragen wir dazu bei, dass das Recht auf Reparatur nicht bei den Forderungen nach mehr Modularisierung von technischen Produkten und Bereithaltung von Ersatzteilen stehen bleibt. Das Ziel ist die offene Dokumentation.

Niklas Roy nos escribió para contarnos que ha realizado esta instalación titulada Wasserorgel von Winnenden (el Órgano de agua de Winnenden) en la ciudad del mismo nombre de Alemania. Se trata de un teclado que va conectado a unos tubos de agua a presión para tocar música al mismo tiempo que se lanzan chorros de agua y encienden luces de colores. Tanto el vídeo como la historia de du diseño y construcción son preciosos.

La gente puede tocar música directamente con el teclado o –si no pasa nadie por la calle– el órgano toca fragmentos de música aleatoria por sí solo (lo que se denomina «modo atracción»). La música que se toca queda grabada y se puede oír luego repetida, porque se almacena en una memoria SD. En la página del proyecto hay mucha más información. Además es libre y cualquiera puede descargar los esquemas electrónicos, las plantillas de las piezas y demás para hacer lo que quiera con ello.

El montaje es tremendamente ingenioso y tiene bastante tecnología detrás: el corazón es un Arduino MEGA 2560 al que se une la electrónica de un sintetizador MIDI y un teclado impreso en 3D. Hay relés para controlar los mecanismos de presión que hacen salir el agua, cables por todos lados para llegar hasta las luces y todo está construido de forma sólida y robusta para soportar la dureza de estar en mitad de la calle con gente de todo tipo toqueteándolo todo el día (y la noche). Además es resistente al agua.

Το 3ο Γυμνάσιο Ηγουμενίτσας, αποδεχόμενο με ενθουσιασμό την πρόταση - πρόκληση του Εργαστηριακού Κέντρου Φυσικών Επιστημών Θεσπρωτίας (Ε.Κ.Φ.Ε.), εισάγει στην εκπαίδευση των μαθητών του, μια σύγχρονη προσέγγιση στην καλλιέργεια κριτικής σκέψης, στην ανάπτυξη δεξιοτήτων και στην επίλυση των προβλημάτων. 

Τα Μαθηματικά και η Φυσική, ζωτικές επιστήμες για την κατανόηση της ζωής μας, εμπλέκονται με την Τεχνολογία και την Μηχανική (S.T.E.M – Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics,) σε μια βιωματική διαδικασία εκπαίδευσης με τρόπο ελκυστικό, καθώς δίνεται έμφαση στο πειραματικό μέρος. 

Ομάδα 18 μαθητών μας από την Β΄ και Γ τάξη, θα εκπαιδευτεί σε μια - ανοιχτού κώδικα- ψηφιακή πλατφόρμα με ονομασία “Arduino” με την βοήθεια της οποίας κάποιος χωρίς ιδιαίτερες γνώσεις προγραμματιστή μπορεί εύκολα να την χρησιμοποιήσει και να κατασκευάσει εφαρμογές ρομποτικής και συστήματα αυτοματισμού. 

Τα μαθήματα θα πραγματοποιούνται απογευματινές ώρες αφενός για να μην εμποδίζεται η πρωινή εκπαιδευτική διαδικασία και αφετέρου για να γίνεται πλήρης εκμετάλλευση του εργαστηρίου Ηλεκτρονικών Υπολογιστών του σχολείου. 

Τελικός στόχος η κατασκευή 2 διαδραστικών ψηφιακών κατασκευών οι οποίες ευελπιστούμε να παρουσιαστούν σε επόμενη ανακοίνωση. 

Βασικός εκπαιδευτής και συμπαραστάτης στην όλη προσπάθεια θα είναι ο εκλεκτός συνάδελφος Φυσικός και υπεύθυνος του Ε.Κ.Φ.Ε. Θεσπρωτίας κος Νούσης Βασίλειος, τον οποίον και ευχαριστούμε θερμότατα.

Hi Jared, Just to recap, here is my understanding of your situation: 1) You have four PGA450Q1EVM-S ( TIDA-00151 ) modules that were OTP pre-programmed with the UART demo code. 2) You are using an Arduino MCU to communicate to each EVM-S module by 5V logic level UART. 3) Your UART port is configured for 8-bit data, no parity, one-stop bit, 19.2kBaud. 4) You have received the response "0, 34, 83, 255" from the PGA450-Q1 when using command-0 ( PGA450-Q1 UART test). The response from this command should be {0x12,0x23}, so the actual versus expected results do not match. This indicates that the device is responsive to commands received at the RxD pin, but the actual output or the interpretation of the output is incorrect. 5) You do not have the TIGER board to run the demo instruction test documented in the EVM-S user's guide, so you are relying solely on the Arduino. Here are some additional questions I have which may help with the debug: 6) What supply voltage are you using to power the PGA450-Q1 ? The PGA450-Q1 requires 7-18V, so a USB supply will not be sufficient. 7) Did you reference or port the "PGA450Q1EVMS_UART_Demo.ino" Energia sketch into Arduino to run the PGA450-Q1 UART commands, or did you write your own sketch? 8) Are you able to capture the logic analyzer output of the PGA450-Q1 's TxD and RxD pins when sending command-0?
