Religious persecution continues in too many places: ongoing repression of and atrocities against Rohingya Muslims in Burma, the brutal Chinese crackdown on Uighurs and other Muslims, Tibetan Buddhists, and Christians, attacks by terrorists on Christians and other minorities in Iraq and Pakistan, authoritarian repression of Baha’is in Iran and now Yemen, and all faiths in North Korea.

KOFI ANNAN KUZIKWA LEO ACCRA      Cache   Translate Page

Thismia kobensis (Burmanniaceae), a new and presumably extinct species from Hyogo Prefecture, Japan

Thismia Griffith (1844: 221), Thismiaceae J. Agardh or Burmanniaceae sensu APG VI (2016), is one of the most species-rich mycoheterotrophic genera, consisting of ca. 80 species (Jonker 1948, Merckx et al. 2013). Considering that most of these species were collected only once (Jonker 1948) and that many new species have recently been discovered in various Asian countries (e.g. Suetsugu et al. 2017, 2018), many more undescribed species are likely in these regions.

Burma deported the Muhammadans. Good for Burma. Western Civilization expelled the Muhammadans 500 years ago. A few traitorous, God-Damned Globalist Morons such as: Angela Merkel, Barack Obama, France, Canada & George W. Bush let some Muhammadans re-enter Western Civilization. The Muhammadans are as bad now as they have ever been. Exclusion was a failed half-measure. Muhammadans should be exterminated, IMHPO.

this proves again Muslims have been living in Burma They are not new comer. Trouble? Is Basque causing trouble? Scotland causing ? Western Sahara causing ? Is Donbass causing ? Is white Russian causing when they ask for annexation of Kazakhistan to Russia? You dnt kick them out to solve the problem of secession /separation. Again not a good argument . Not good as Trump would say -bad very bad.

In May 1946, Muslim leaders from Arakan, Burma (present-day Rakhine State, Myanmar) met with Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, and asked for the formal annexation of two townships in the Mayu region, Buthidaung and Maungdaw, by East Pakistan (present-day Bangladesh). Two months later, the North Arakan Muslim League was founded in Akyab (present-day Sittwe, capital of Rakhine State), which also asked Jinnah to annex the region. Local mujahideen were subsequently formed against the Burmese government, and began targeting government soldiers stationed in the area. Led by Mir Kassem, the newly formed mujahideen movement began gaining territory, driving out local Rakhine communities from their villages, some of whom fled to East Pakistan https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rohingya_conflict#Mujahideen_movements_(1947%E2%80%931961)
Burma hadn't gotten independence from the British rule yet when Muslims started to cause troubles. And you wonder why Burmese Buddhists do not like Rohingya invaders? It's always the same story with Muslims whenever they multiply, concentrate in certain areas and gain control of the land, driving away and persecuting non-Muslims. Another success story of peaceful coexistence with Muslims https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Marawi https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moro_conflict

Muslims over the centuries have killed a LOT more Hindus, Sikhs and Africans than Christians have. Will Durant estimated the total death toll of the Muslim conquest of India at perhaps 100M.

Not really fair to call it a Christian ISIS. Whatever you may think of it, ISIS has a quite credible claim to being much closer to the original Islamic tradition than other variants of the religion. The Taipings were just weird, more like a Jim Jones cult that anything legitimately Christian. Once they actually understood who they were, no Christian group acknowledged them as brothers in the faith.

No , that's not the reason, Reasons are the followings - he is a decent human being and he knows the history both of different depths -WikiLeaks and more profound scholastic uuinversity level materials Now the WikiLeaks --- https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Rakhine The usage of the term Rohingya has been historically documented prior to the British Raj. In 1799, Francis Buchanan-Hamilton wrote an article called "A Comparative Vocabulary of Some of the Languages Spoken in the Burma Empire", which was found and republished by Michael Charney in the SOAS Bulletin of Burma Research in 2003.[74][75][76] Among the native groups of Arakan, he wrote are the: "Mohammedans, who have long settled in Arakan, and who call themselves Rooinga, or natives of Arakan."[74] The Classical Journal of 1811 identified "Rooinga" as one of the languages spoken in the "Burmah Empire". In 1815, Johann Severin Vater listed "Ruinga" as an ethnic group with a distinct language in a compendium of languages published in German.[77] In 1936, when Burma was still under British rule, the "Rohingya Jam’iyyat al Ulama" was founded in Arakan.[78][79][note 1] According to Jacques Leider, the Rohingya were referred to as "Chittagonians" during the British colonial period, and it was not controversial to refer to them as "Bengalis" until 1990s.[82] Leider also states that "there is no international consensus" on the use of the term Rohingya, as they are often called "Rohingya Muslims", "Muslim Arakanese" and "Burmese Muslims".[83][note 2] Others, such as anthropologist Christina Fink, use Rohingya not as an ethnic identifier but as a political one.[84] Leider believes the Rohingya is a political movement that started in the 1950s to create "an autonomous Muslim zone" in Rakhine.[85] The government of Prime Minister U Nu, when Burma was a democracy from 1948–1962, used the term "Rohingya".[86] When the Mayu Frontier District was created covering Rohingya-majority areas, the term "Rohingya" was recognized by the Burmese government. The term was broadcast on Burmese radio and was used in the speeches of Burmese rulers.[49] A UNHCR report on refugees caused by Operation King Dragon referred to the victims as "Bengali Muslims (called Rohingyas)".[87] Nevertheless, the term Rohingya wasn't widely used until the 1990s.[86][87][88] https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rohingya_people More can be accessed by looking into articles from www.atimes.vom Independet( UK) New York Times Buddhist Ethics Shoebat.com Singspore and Thia media Global research Indian media Counterpunch .vom Sri Lanka Guardian Chinese sources and Indusn sources on Buddhism

Opportunity to visit Ta’ Bistra Catacombs      Cache   Translate Page

On Sunday September 16, in celebration of Mosta Day, Ta’ Bistra Catacombs will be open for the public. These catacombs are so far the largest set of tombs and catacombs which are found outside Rabat, Malta. Located just 15 minutes from Mosta centre, the 4th century AD Paleochristian catacombs are set in the vertical face of a ridge overlooking St Paul’s Bay. The site is 90 metres long and consists of 57 tombs laid out in 16 chambers. Although the tombs were first recorded in the late 1880s, they were only archaeologically investigated in 1933 by Charles Zammit. This documentation was done since the tombs were meant to be destroyed to make way for the construction of a new road leading to Burmarrad. Interestingly in 2004, Ta’ Bistra Catacombs came once again into the spotlight when archaeological monitoring taking place during road works revealed that these catacombs had not been destroyed after all. Along the years, a farm was built over the underground tombs and this is believed to have caused some damage to the tombs, also because animals were occasionally kept in them. Apart from the farm, other development took place in the area, including the construction of a number of...

What Can You Do With That?: Navigating Career Pathways in "Useless" Majors Through Service-Learning Partnerships

Presented by: Cara Burnidge and Yasemin Sari, Assistant Professors of Philosophy & World Religions, philosophy students and EMBARC

Philosophy and the Study of Religion are often perceived as "useless" liberal arts majors, leaving students unprepared for careers after college. In response to these stereotypes, the Department of Philosophy & World Religions addresses these concerns through two critical service-learning seminars partnered with Ethnic Minorities of Burma Advocacy and Resource Center in Fall 2018. Professors Yasemin Sari and Cara Burnidge, and their students, discuss their experiences, and demonstrate how these majors offer students opportunities to develop leadership and career-ready skills through course work, intentional service, and reflection.

I make this all the time, it comes out soooooo good!!! I sometimes make it with organic ground beef, and serve it in lettuce cups, for a paleo twist. The only change I make, is I use avocado or coconut oil, as I would never use Canola. :) Thanks, Hollyce

Why are the Burmese doing this? In 2012, President Obama and Secretary Clinton visited there to much favorable fanfare; then Obama lifted all the sanctions on the [rapacious] junta. Forty-six human rights organizations asked him not to, but he did. As an outcome, what is happening currently is one of the most documented genocides of modern times. There are significant repercussions both inside and around Burma: now the Burmese military is going after the Christian Kachins; and, since nothing negative has happened in response, the military will continue its genocides. China also sees no action, so has put 3 million Uyghurs in concentration camps; and for the same reason India has severely maltreated Bangladeshis. The Burmese army committed mass rape, which it denies. Aung San Suu Kyi is at best a willing prisoner; at worst, a participant in the genocide. She constantly refuses to let the UN investigate. Would new sanctions reverse the crimes? Because 70% of the Burmese economy is spent on the military and full economic sanctions worked in the past, they’ll work now. President Trump can reverse the Obama orders, which lifted the original sanctions and so created conditions favorable to the genocide. The upshot of present US policy is that we’re still supporting a country that’s committing a genocide! We need to rescind Obama’s orders. [See: StopGenocide.org] American Buddhists might do well to become involved and take steps to prevent having their good name besmirched by Burma. In Congress and the Senate, both Foreign Relations Committees have passed resolutions but McConnell* refuses to let them come on to the floor. Uyghurs: Are Chinese authorities using the Burmese crimes as a rationale for crimes in Eastern Turkestan? Apparently yes; they think they can get away with murder. Is the North Korean military assisting in the Burmese persecution? Oh yes, highly likely – and, unfortunately, the Indians also endorse genocide, as they have gravely persecuted Christian tribes in their Northeast. .. .. .. * Addison Mitchell McConnell Jr. is an American politician serving as the senior United States Senator from Kentucky, a seat he was first elected to in 1984\. A member of the Republican Party, he has additionally served as the Senate Majority Leader since January 3, 2015.
Burma failure: Two young Reuters journalists who reported on the Burmese massacre of Rohingya are now sentenced seven years at hard labor. — Paul Mooney, journo based in Bangkok      Cache   Translate Page
. http://JohnBatchelorShow.com/contact http://JohnBatchelorShow.com/schedules Twitter: @BatchelorShow Paul Mooney, independent journalist based in Bangkok, on the latest in Burma. Two young men who reported for Reuters on the apparent massacre of Rohingya are now sentenced to long, hard labor of seven years. The Burmese police handed them documents, then arrested the two for holding them. They’ve been charged under the leftover, colonial Official Secrets Act. A few governments have issued statements, and human rights groups have been articulate. Thai people are not paying much attention; and the vast majority of Burmese think the Rohingya, who've been there for at least a thousand years, are there illegally. Crime against humanity: the UN said the Burmese military shd be investigated for genocide. Reuters has publicized this worldwide but the Burmese military hasn’t backed down, as it thinks no one will do anything about it. DPRK is now proliferating weapons to Burma. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-myanmar-journalists-senate/u-s-senators-urge-pompeo-to-press-for-release-of-reuters-journalists-jailed-in-myanmar-idUSKCN1 LR2LE
