Exposed! Tucker Carlson’s secret addiction, Meghan Markle’s secret “sister,” and Royal Family secrets, in this week’s fact-challenged tabloids      Cache   Translate Page   Web Page Cache

What are we to make of the ’National Enquirer’ front page headline: “Meghan’s Drug Secret Exposed!” You could be forgiven for assuming that the newlywed Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, has been caught with a needle in her arm and a crack pipe in her Chanel purse. Not quite. Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle Sr., is reportedly friends with a female neighbor who allegedly has smoked crystal meth on occasion. What has that to do with Meghan Markle? The ‘Enquirer’ has decided that Thomas Markle’s concern for his friend is so great, she is like “Meghan’s secret ‘sister.’” Though Meghan has never met her “sister” and most likely never heard of her, the ‘Enquirer’ cover touts this story under the explosive headline: “Bombshell about ‘sister’ she’s hiding from Harry.” Even further removed from reality is a second ‘Enquirer' story about Megan’s father: “Exiled Dad Living With Drag Queen!” This story claims that a male neighbor of Markle’s is a cross-dresser who wants to transition to become a woman. After almost two years of near-constant paparazzi pursuit of Thomas Markle, this “drag queen” - as if that’s somehow the same as cross-dressing or wanting to transition - has been photographed with him precisely once. But that’s enough for the ‘Enquirer’ to report that the couple “spend so much time together under the same roof, they are as good as living together.” No, they’re not. “Elizabeth Smart Saves Hollywood Star From Evil Cult!” screams another fact-challenged ‘Enquirer’ cover headline. Elizabeth Smart, you may recall, was kidnapped at 14 and held captive for nine months by a deranged Utah couple. Evidently she wrote an email to former ‘Dynasty’ actress Catherine Oxenberg’s daughter India, who until recently was in the grips of the controversial Nxivm cult. The ‘Enquirer’ reports that Smart asked India “if she needed support.” India never responded. That certainly sounds to me like saving a Hollywood star from an evil cult, if by "Hollywood star” they mean an actress’s unknown daughter, and if by “saving” they mean sending an email that’s ignored. “Dying Cher Miracle Cure!” screams the cover of this week’s ‘Globe’ magazine, which after years of reporting that the actress-singer is on the verge of death, has finally decided that her obstinate survival counts as a miracle. Admittedly, it must be hard to keep writing about “Cher’s sad last days” (‘Enquirer,’ June 2017) or about Cher being given “three months to live” (‘Enquirer,’ December 2014) when the world can see her cavorting energetically onscreen in the new “Mama Mia’ movie musical sequel. “Brad & Jen Together Again!” is the ‘Globe’ headline reuniting Pitt and Aniston 12 years after their divorce - and now they are “talking about getting hitched to each other again.” No. Not happening. This is a tabloid fever-dream, one from which they refuse to awake. Fox TV anchor Tucker Carlson’s addictions are also exposed by the ‘Globe,’ which reports: “TV Tucker Has Monkey On His Back!” Given tabloid logic and guilt-by-association, the headline could just as easily have read: “Rupert Murdoch’s Secret Drug Hell Exposed!” Perhaps we should be thankful for small mercies. And what is Carlson’s vice? Heroin? Cocaine? Uppers? Downers? The “truth” is far, far darker. “Fox anchor addicted to nicotine gum,” reveals the ‘Globe.’ Oh, the shame. ‘Us’ magazine devotes its cover to Britney Spears a decade after her mental breakdown, revealing: “How Real Love Saved Britney.” Thanks for her ten-year recovery is somehow laid at the feet of her boyfriend of just two years, Sam Asghari, the Iranian model 12 years her junior. “He accepts her for who she is, which has been a struggle for Britney in the past,” reports ‘Us.’ It seems the magazine wants to credit Britney’s comeback to a man who hasn’t tried to change her in any way. Her success is all “thanks to love,” raves the mag, overdosing on romantic fantasies. But why credit Britney with her own success, when ‘Us’ can attribute her career revival and happiness to the love a a good man? Nothing sexist in that, is there? Meanwhile ‘People’ magazine gives up its cover to “The Royal Woman of Windsor - Their Lives, Loves & Secrets.” As if the world’s most scrutinized women could possibly have any secrets left. What insights does ‘People’ offer? Meghan Markle’s “secrets” are suitably shocking: Her childhood nickname was “Flower," she was “born poised,” and “she’s smart, she’s glamorous.” Wow. That’s a revelation. Will the Royal Family ever recover? Fortunately we have the crack investigative squad at ‘Us’ mag to tell us that Karrueche Tran wore it best, that Cynthia Nixon is “a natural blonde,” that Amanda Bynes keeps Mentos, Kind bars and a hairbrush in her Maison Goyard tote, and that the stars are just like us: they shop, carry luggage, eat snacks and take mass transit (at least in New York they do - good luck finding any celebrity on a Los Angeles bus or train.) Most squirm-inducing headline of the week goes to the ‘National Examiner’ story about a nine-year-old quadruple amputee given new custom-fitted running blades: “Legless Boy’s Off and Running!” Onwards and downwards . . .

The kindhearted nature and charitable benevolence of Olakunle Churchill was met by a break-on-the bridge, when he arrested an online saboteur, after giving her a hundred dollar at the airport.

The popular entrepreneur has just returned from the UK, after a long time away, and was accosted at the airport by a young lady who was in tears after missing her flight and stranded. She looked pitiful and Olakunle was affectionate, so he was said to have extended his hands of love by giving the lady a 100 dollar so as to resolve her little financial problems.

Unfortunately, he was ridiculously amazed when she began her confession as one of the online saboteurs who was paid to make negative comments and trend them on several online media platforms anytime there was a post on Churchill or his events.

The lady confessed that, she was paid 10,000naira every month and that they were 25 people with 5 different fake accounts each, and the ring leader of the group is a Ghananian but london based blogger called "cutie". She opened up that they have been reacting to online discussions, post false stories and makeup fake propaganda comments to libel the reputation of Olakunle Churchill.

She explained how they all have created scam accounts on online blogs, instagram, facebook and other social media platforms with selected online warriors.

Churchill was absolutely mean to the entire situation, and he expressed dissatisfaction to such frivolous activities that portrays deception on the media. He immediately ordered the lady to be arrested by the Nigeria police force at the airport for further investigation.

EX-RAYING THE IGBO; THE NEED TO START THINKING HOME

By Elochukwu Nicholas Ohagi
For Family Writers Press

During my NYSC camp in Olokuma Opokuma Kayama, Bayelsa State in 2013, the camp commandant told those of us complaining about how they can not go across water, that if they reach their PPA and fail to find an Igbo man there, they should report back immediately to him for onward and immediate reposting. Low and behold, even those that went deeper into the sea and inside the creeks never returned for reposting. An evidence they all met at least one Igbo man in their various places of primary assignment.

This is to tell you how far an Igbo man has traveled and acclimatized with every part of the country called Nigeria. Some have argued that Igbo man is the only 'True Nigerian', contrary to what many are thinking today. Igbo man is living the true creed of nationhood in a country most of us call Nigeria. It is only an Igbo man that can travel from home to a faraway place, an unknown place, establish  and make it another home. He builds houses and makes it his own home. Unlike an Hausa man who will live inside their mosque while changing millions of Dollars for a whooping 30 years in one "ama awusa" somewhere in Owerri without building one single house or renting one. It is not even news that the richest man in Northern  Nigeria and probably the richest in Nigeria, Aliko Dangote does not have even a single of his numerous companies situated in Ala Igbo. The only things he can lay claim to are his numerous Trailers crisscrossing the rough and bumpy Eastern Nigeria roads distributing his goods and products.

Same thing can be said about a Yoruba man. You hardly see a Yoruba man build outside his Yoruba state. For many years now powerful but mischievous Yoruba Nigeria gutter media have been telling whoever that cared to listen that the reason they don't build in Eastern Nigeria is because Ndi Igbo does not sell lands to them. A lie that have been long exposed, thanks to social media. One may want to ask a Yoruba man this questions. If Igbo man refuses to sell his land, what of the lands belonging to Ijaw, Efik, Ibibio or Oron? Did they also refused selling to you like their Igbo brothers? Did Northerners also refused to sell lands to Yoruba people when they were selling to Ndi Igbo in their enclave? Why is it that in almost all the Northern States there is an Igbo settlement with lands bought and houses built by Ndi Igbo. There are Markets, Hospitals, Schools and even Hotels owned exclusively by Ndi Igbo. That same Ndi Igbo have big stake in Lagos. Same Ndi Igbo whose properties were declared abandoned properties have within the space of 50years bought back all those properties, that was when all the monies they had in Nigeria banks prior to the war was stolen by the Nigerian government.

Ndi Igbo also found themselves scattered around the world. It is also said that there is no country in the world you can not find an Igbo man. Don't take my word for it, just make your own research and I stand to be corrected. Ndi Igbo have assets more outside Igbo land than they can boast of within their own territory. This has turned into a bitter curse to Ndi Igbo rather than becoming a blessing and it made them vulnerable for a long time but not anymore because freedom has come. This is because an Igbo man have refused to bring his exploits back home. They have this believe that their business cannot flourish well if they bring it home. These are genuine concerns. A lot of things discourages an Igbo man from establishing his business at home. An Igbo man will rather start a business in Lagos, Kano, Kaduna, Abuja or Jos than bring it down home to  Onitsha, Aba, Owerri or Port Harcourt.

Some Reasons Why Ndi Igbo Finds It Hard To Think Home

Here I am going to point out some of the things that hinder Ndi Igbo from bringing their businesses home. I will try to make it brief.

1. Feeling of Insecurity - An Igbo man feels that he is a target in Nigeria. He feels that his land is under siege and his name something Nigeria establishment always don't want to hear. In Igbo land, you hardly cross one kilometer without meeting battle ready police or military checkpoints with officials that seemed to have been detailed to make life difficult for Ndi Igbo living and doing businesses in Igbo land. They pay through their noses in there own land through military and police extortion. Something that is not good for business. Business men in Igbo land will be made to spend thousands of Naira before their goods can finally rest either in Main-market Onitsha or Ariria Aba. Customs, Army, Immigration are always there to extort money and intimidate Igbo businessmen.

2. Nearness To Seaports - Nigerian Government for the past 50years seemed to have reached a consensus to deny Ndi Igbo sea ports. There is no river that made history in Nigeria more than River Niger. The reason Mongo Park took the pains to discover an already discovered river by our ancestors, was to open up trade not just in Nigeria but entire West Africa. This shows that if properly harnessed, River Niger would have increased trade in West Africa. But unfortunately opening up River Niger will benefit a people Nigeria has agreed to perpetually keep down and subjugate. That is why they extended same treatment to neighboring ports like Warri, Akwaibom and Calabar Ports. Even Port Harcourt sea port is not functional, that is when Lagos state alone sits on three sea ports, with Kano and Kaduna enjoying land dry ports.
The difficulty of bringing down goods from Lagos down to Onitsha or Aba has forced many Ndi Igbo to settle in Lagos or any other Northern States.

3. Unavailability Of International Airport - It is worthy to note here that for the first time after the war in 1970, it was just four years ago, during Goodluck Jonathan's era that the first International flight took off from Eastern Nigeria.  That was a region that maintained the busiest airport in the whole world in 1967/70 under severe bombardment from Nigeria and their British government supporters. Ndi Igbo travel miles on roads before they can travel out of Nigeria via Lagos, Abuja or Kaduna. The so called Enugu International Airports is still not functional due to some of the reasons I listed above.

Struggling For Survival

In all these things the Igbo has been struggling to survive. Leading in this struggle for survival is the Nnewi man. The symbol of think home mentality. Right from the start, Nnewi man have armed himself with the think home mentality. One would have wondered where the Igbo man would have been without the wisdom and ingenuity of an Nnewi man. Nnewi man here also represents all other Ndi Igbo that are bringing their goods home.
Currently, the highest cluster of indigenous companies in Africa are in Nnewi. The 'Onye aghana nwanne ya' spirit of the Igbo is strong in the mind of an Nnewi man. Innoson motors and others still stand tall in Nnewi.
All Ndi Igbo should as a matter of fact borrow this good side of Nnewi people and start thinking home. It's a call for all Ndi Igbo to start establishing their business empires in Igbo land. Ndi Igbo should stop thinking that they need Nigerian market more for then to sell. In actual sense it is Nigeria that needs an Igbo man. Ndi Igbo must start targeting the wilder African markets. That's a sure way to go.

Things To Avoid

Ndi Igbo should avoid the superiority mentality among themselves. A man from Imo should not see himself as more superior Igbo than another from Anambra and Anambra man should not look down on an Ebonyi or Abia man. It is only an ignorant man that holds strongly to this Nigeria divide and rule mechanism called state creation. Sadly many don't know the history of state creation. Gowon balkanized the regions into 12 states as to sow seeds of discord, to make sure Biafrans of 1966 lose their unity. All Ndi Igbo before ever the states were created were all in the Eastern region. Before the name Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo came into existence we were all Ndi Igbo. That some Ndi Igbo were carved into what is today called South South doesn't make them less an Igbo.

Finally, Ndi Igbo should start thinking of what to do to make Ala Igbo greater. This is the time for the elites, the governors and Ndi Eze to drop their slave mentality and work towards a greater Igbo nation. They should understand that the era of what Abuja want has gone. Ndi Igbo have successfully dethroned the powers of the caliphate and the people have taken over power. Governors should start aligning with their people in sincerity. They should start creating an enabling environment for the industrialization of Ala Igbo. They should understand their youths, bond more with them and not sell them out to the caliphate for slaughter like it happened in Onitsha, Nkpor, Aba and Umuahia. They should rather connect Ala Igbo with railways than open her up for cattle colonies.

Start thinking Igbo.

Family Medicine Specialist at Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS)      Cache   Translate Page   Web Page Cache
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is a regional group of fifteen West African countries. Founded on 28 May 1975, with the signing of the Treaty of Lagos, its mission is to promote economic integration across the region.Location: Republic of Sierra Leone Category: ECOWAS International Volunteer Type of Contract: ECOWAS Volunteers Programme. Non-Family Position Expected start date: 15th September 2018 Duration: One (01) year, renewable (depending on budget availability and satisfactory performance) Preamble The ECOWAS Youth and Sports Development Centre (EYSDC), was created by the Decision A/DEC.13/01/05 of 19th January 2005 at Accra, Ghana as a specialized Agency of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). At the 32nd session of the ECOWAS Summit held in June 2007, the Heads of States and Government adopted a new approach to regional integration by approving a new global vision called the ECOWAS Vision 2020. The principal objective of this vision is to move the Community from an «ECOWAS of States» to an «ECOWAS of Peoples» by the year 2020. Consequently, the EYSDC implements her policies, activities and strategic action plans, as well as the ECOWAS vision in the areas of youth and sports, including the ECOWAS Volunteers Programme. The EYSDC's objective is to initiate, develop, coordinate and implement youth and sports programmes within the Community. To this end, it works to: Mobilise the different segments of the population to ensure their integration and effective participation in the social development of the region, as well as the promotion of youth organisations and professional associations to ensure maximum participation in the activities of the Community; Provide a permanent institutional framework within ECOWAS through which issues related to Youth and Sports activities in the sub-region can be developed and promoted. Organizational Framework of the Centre The Youth and Sports Development Centre (EYSDC) is one of the Directorates under the Social Affairs and Gender Department of the ECOWAS Commission. It is based in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) under the headquarters agreement signed between the Burkina Faso authorities and the ECOWAS Commission. Decision N° A/DEC 13/01/2005 of 19th January 2005 had adopted the organizational structure comprising of four Divisions (Youth, Sports, Administration and Finance, and TIC). However, since 2008, the Centre has undergone some structural modifications following the transfer of the ECOWAS Volunteers Programme (EVP) from the Political Affairs, Peace and Security Department of the Commission (CPAPS) to the EYSDC, under the Social Affairs and Gender Department. The EVP is centralized in organisation, but decentralized in its application to allow for flexibility and adaptation to the current realities of each country. The strategic directions, including the formulation of the overall vision, goals and objectives of the Programme, is the responsibility of the Regional Coordination Council (RCC), whose role, among others, is to ensure that the EVP becomes a genuine voluntary arm of ECOWAS. Being a cross-cutting programme, the ECOWAS Volunteers Regional Coordination Council (RCC) includes representatives of relevant departments of the ECOWAS Commission. The RCC is chaired by the Commissioner for Social Affairs and Gender of the ECOWAS Commission. She is assisted by the Director of the ECOWAS Youth and Sports Development Centre (EYSDC), as Alternate Chairman of the RCC. The executive arm of the RCC is the Regional Office, provided by the EYSDC in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso). The programme's regional coordination activities are coordinated by a Regional Coordinator under the supervision of the EYSDC Director. Although the EVP is under the Youth Division of the EYSDC, it is directly supervised by the EYSDC Director for effectiveness. At the National level, the National Coordination Council (NCC) serves as the national body through which national policy guidelines for the Programme are given. This Council works towards the understanding and entrenchment of the Volunteer Programme in the national environment. It also serves as advisor to the country office, which is responsible for the coordination of the Programme at national level. Posted by Purnima Kochikar, Director, Google Play, Apps & Games

On Monday we released Android 9 Pie. As we continue to push the Android platform forward, we're always looking to provide new ways to distribute your apps efficiently, help people discover and engage with your work, and improve the overall security of our ecosystem. Google Play has had a busy year so far with some big milestones around helping you reach more users, including:

  • Shrinking download size: Android App Bundle & Dynamic Delivery has helped reduce app sizes by up to 65%, leading to increased downloads and fewer uninstalls.
  • Helpling improve quality: New tools in the Play Console have helped you reduce crash rates by up to 70%.
  • Improving discovery: Improvements to the discovery experience has increased Google Play Store visits by 30% over the last 12 months.
  • Keeping users safe: Google Play Protect scans more than 50 billion apps a day and Android API level 26 adoption requirements improve app security and performance.

Google Play is dedicated to helping you build and grow quality app businesses, reach the more than 2 billion Android devices globally and provide your users with better experiences. Here are some of the important areas we're prioritizing this year:

Innovative Distribution

We've added more testing tools to the popular Play Console to help developers de-risk app launches with internal and external test tracks and staged rollouts to get valuable early feedback. This year we've expanded the Start on Android program globally that provides developers new to Android additional guidance to optimize their apps before launch. Google Play Instant remains a huge bet to transform app discovery and improve conversions by letting users engage without the friction of installing. We're seeing great results from early adopters and are working on new places to surface instant experience, including ads, and making them easier to build throughout the year.

Improving App Quality

Google Play plays an important role helping developers understand and fix quality and performance issues. At I/O, we showcased how we expanded the battery, stability and rendering of Android vitals reporting to include app start time & permission denials, enabling developers to cut application not responding errors by up to 95%. We also expanded the functionality of automated device testing with the pre-launch report to enable games testing. Recently, we increased the importance of app quality in our search and discovery recommendations that has resulted in higher engagement and satisfaction with downloaded games.

Richer Discovery

Over the last year we've rolled out more editorial content and improved our machine learning to deliver personalized recommendations for apps and games that engage users. Since most game downloads come from browsing (as opposed to searching or deep linking into) the store, we've put particular focus on games discovery, with a new games home page, special sections for premium and new games, immersive video trailers and screenshots, and the ability to try games instantly. We've also introduced new programs to help drive app downloads through richer discovery. For example, since launching our app pre-registration program in 2016, we've seen nearly 250 million app pre-registrations. Going forward, we'll be expanding on these programs and others like LiveOps cards to help developers engage more deeply with their audience.

Expanding Commerce Platform

Google Play now collects payments in 150 markets via credit card, direct carrier billing (DCB), Paypal, and gift cards. Direct carrier billing is now enabled across 167 carriers in 64 markets. In 2018, we have focused on expanding our footprint in Africa and Latam with launches in Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria, Peru & Colombia. And users can now buy Google Play credit via gift cards or other means in more 800,000 retail locations around the world. This year, we also launched seller support in 18 new markets bringing the total markets with seller support to 98. Our subscription offering continues to improve with ML-powered fraud detection and even more control for subscribers and developers. Google Play's risk modeling automatically helps detect fraudulent transactions and purchase APIs help you better analyze your refund data to identify suspicious activity.

Maintaining a Safe & Secure Ecosystem

Google Play Protect and our other systems scan and analyze more than 50 billion apps a day to keep our ecosystem safe for users and developers. In fact, people who only download apps from Google Play are nine times less likely to download a potentially harmful app than those who download from other sources. We've made significant improvements in our ability to detect abuse—such as impersonation, inappropriate content, fraud, or malware—through new machine learning models and techniques. The result is that 99% of apps with abusive content are identified and rejected before anyone can install them. We're also continuing to run the Google Play Security Rewards Program through a collaboration with Hacker One to discover other vulnerabilities.

We are continually inspired by what developers build—check out #IMakeApps for incredible examples—and want every developer to have the tools needed to succeed. We can't wait to see what you do next!

Fortunately we have the crack investigative squad at ‘Us’ mag to tell us that Karrueche Tran wore it best, that Cynthia Nixon is “a natural blonde,” that Amanda Bynes keeps Mentos, Kind bars and a hairbrush in her Maison Goyard tote, and that the stars are just like us: they shop, carry luggage, eat snacks and take mass transit (at least in New York they do - good luck finding any celebrity on a Los Angeles bus or train.) Most squirm-inducing headline of the week goes to the ‘National Examiner’ story about a nine-year-old quadruple amputee given new custom-fitted running blades: “Legless Boy’s Off and Running!” Onwards and downwards . . .

WAWILI HATIHATI KUTEMWA KIKOSINI SIMBA      Cache   Translate Page   Web Page Cache

KANGI LUGOLA ATANGAZA VITA KALI NA WAUZA JEZI FEKI SIMBA DAY      Cache   Translate Page   Web Page Cache

City Odes | "In Between Words" | NYC      Cache   Translate Page   Web Page Cache

"IN BETWEEN WORDS"

A woman looks for her place in New York City as she contemplates the meaning of the word, "home."

The City Odes Project is a passion project in which my composer and I will collaborate with a poet and an actor to create a humanist, emotional, and visual story amidst the backdrop of a particularly city. "In Between Words" is the first of many to come, and kicks off this series in the city I currently reside in - New York City. The narrative was birthed out of an eagerness to collaborate with Achiaa, my actress, who now lives in New York and is originally from Ghana. In speaking with her, I decided to pursue a story about someone searching for home; a woman who is figuring out if NYC is the place for her, who is coming to terms that she is 5,000 miles away from her original home in West Africa, and thus easing out tensions with her mother, who of course wants her to return. The final result here features the work of Lilian Mehrel - a fellow filmmaker and classmate of mine back at NYU Grad Film school - who captures these feelings through her words, and my frequent collaborator John Corlis - an LA-based musician and composer - who complements the poetry with his mixture of piano and strings.

Please, enjoy this short poetry video and my ode to New York City.

"In Between Words"
by Lilian Mehrel

Where am I?
Check the map. What’s a map, anyway?
An alphabet.
Spelling out spaces
In between words.

When you carve lines in a concrete jungle,
The dust particles remain. They stain
The people with grit
Glittering their teeth.

When I was little, my mother told me
My great-grandfather was the head of our tribe.
What’s a tribe? I asked.
He was like the king of our village, she told me.
Are you the queen now? I asked.

Yes Queen, says a handsome woman walking by.

Excuse me, do you know which way is north?
I squint up at the scrapers of the sky.
They look down at their fireflies.

My eyes blink for a rest. I need to go
Underground.
I enter the arteries
To flow with bodies as one.
Noon or midnight, there is no time here.

I balance, suspended halfway
Between North and South.
There is no fullness,
There is no stillness.

I cross the street. I cross my heart.
I cross my mother, one too many times.
Why don’t you come home? She says.
What is home? I say.
There are too many people there, she says.
There’s nobody to bother me, I say.

When it’s too much
I slip in the small spaces.

Can you find me on a map?
Look, there - that eyelash that fell,
Between 6th and 7th avenue, that’s me.

Where are you? My mother calls me.
I’m on 6th and a half avenue, I say.
What?

You don’t believe me?
Look on the map. It’s really there.

African waist beads were used to trade and even to pay for slaves, gold, property and other valuable items in Western African for many years. Ghana is pretty much attributed to be the bead production capital of the world. Some believe that they will help protect pregnant women or even provide birth control as did their ancestors many years ago.
In African tradition, waist beads are not for show, meant to be worn under clothing. But in the Western World it's certainly a form of personal expression and individual interpretation. They're for all women -- any body type, any race, any background. Women of all age, shapes and sizes can confidently adorn themselves with waist beads as well.
In Ghana women knew that waist beads helped form their body into a particular shape and adult women wear beads to sexually stimulate the male, as visual aphrodisiac. In other parts of West Africa, women would wear waist beads with bells on them, and when they walked it would make a jingling noise.
When you add stones, waist beads take on healing qualities. Depending on ailment or what needs to be enhanced (i.e. love, physic powers, balancing), various semi-precious stones can be included in the design of your waist beads.

Daura betrayed Buhari to Saraki, says ex-aide in a tell-all interview      Cache   Translate Page   Web Page Cache
Abdulwahab Abdulrahman, a former assistant to the sacked director general of Department of State Services, Lawal Daura, has accused his former boss of extensive corruption and portrayed him as a man who serially betrayed his boss, President Muhammadu Buhari, for money.

Abdulrahman, who retired as a senior DSS official, claimed in an interview that Daura also betrayed Buhari by serving as a mole for Bukola Saraki, the Senate President.

“He will go and get information on plans for (Senate president) Bukola (Saraki) and then leak it to him,” he said.

The former aide of Daura said he quit the agency in 2016 because of the scale of corruption and abuse there.

Mr Daura, who led Nigeria’s domestic spy agency since 2015, was abruptly fired on Tuesday by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo after he ordered a blockade of the National Assembly.

Mr Abdulrahman said President Buhari never knew Daura until he was introduced to him by the late Senator Mustapha Bukar in 2015. He then disclosed how Daura wormed his way into the heart of President Buhari’s cousin, Mamman Daura.

He claimed that after Daura was appointed in July 2015, “Daura was receiving money from everyone including the president’s enemies”.

Mr Abdulrahman said when they resumed, they always closed late at work, often at about 2am. “What we were doing was mostly: receiving Ghana must go filled with cash brought by enemies of government to him.”

“The rate of corruption on that fourth floor was too much and the president doesn’t deserve this,” he said.

“He will go and get information on plans for (Senate president) Bukola (Saraki) and then leak it to him,” he said.

Similar allegation emerged Tuesday after Mr Daura’s removal, with many administration supporters accusing him of working for Mr Saraki against the government.

On Wednesday, Mr Saraki said claims he compromised Mr Daura in respect of the National Assembly siege constituted an “insult on the intelligence( sic) (ignorance) of Nigerians”.

It will be recalled that Messrs. Saraki and Daura clearly enjoyed cooperation in the past. In the heated days of the National Assembly’s standoff with the executive over the appointment of Ibrahim Magu as head of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, it was mostly memos from the SSS that the lawmakers referenced as basis for rejecting Mr Magu.

Asked what the real issue was between Mr Magu and the DG SSS, Mr Abdulrahman said Mr Daura wanted Mr Magu to share information on high profile cases with him

“Magu is a smart officer and he knew Daura wanted to use such information to extract money from people. He told Daura to his face that I can’t report to you, I only report to the president who appointed me,” he said.

On Mr Daura’s career history, Mr Abdulrahman said the former DG was sacked from the DSS originally before his reappointment by Mr Buhari because he was caught siphoning diesel from the SSS Academy in Kaduna.

“Before then, he was almost sacked when he was State Director in Lagos. Tinubu, who was governor donated 20 vehicles to aid the work of the service in the state; Fashola, who is Minister now, was the Chief of Staff at the time, Lawal Daura took all the vehicles to Kano and sold them off,” he claimed.
He also said Mr Daura had to be secretly taken away in Edo state because of how he was misusing staff stipends.
