Top-grossing Casino-based Movies

Top-grossing Casino-based Movies  KEVIN SPACEY!  LAS VEGAS!  Casinos and casino games have always been a favourite part of big-budget movies. People of the current generation who have access to online gaming and websites like fortunemobilecasino might not understand the fascination of protagonists getting the better of casinos (or maybe they do as they experience it on a daily basis). But, previously, since ordinary people didn’t have the opportunity to experience the excitement of casinos except through movies adding a casino scene or two was a sure-shot way to box-office success. Incidentally, there were also top-grossing movies that were purely based in and around casinos and gaming. So here we are: discussing the top-grossing casino-based films of all times. Casino Royale No discussion on casino-based movies can start without the mention of a Bond movie. All through the ages, we have seen a number of 007s beats the God of chance. But the 2006 Daniel Craig starrer was totally dedicated to the casino setting. The movie, an adaptation of Ian Fleming’s first Bond novel is set at the beginning of the agent 007’s career when he first gets his license to kill. The movie revolves around an assignment which involves a terrorist financier, Bond’s journey to try and bankrupt him, the antagonist and the protagonist involved in a high stakes poker, James Bond winning with a straight flush and the subsequent twist and turns of a betrayal and who gets the money in the end. A considerable part of the movie happens in the ‘Casino Royale’ (the reason for naming the film as such) and glamorises the idea of casinos and the entertainment that gambling can provide. When released in 2006, with a new face as James Bond, the film became a top-grosser earning around $600 million and becoming the highest-grossing James Bond film at that time. 21 No casino-based movie list is complete without the mention of the epic movie 21! Based on the true story of an MIT mathematical-genius, this movie glorified the concept of card-counting and was the inspiration for many other films based on the same idea. Basically, this story describes the journey of an MIT student, who under the wing of his genius mathematics professor learns the art of card counting and uses the talent to win money to pay off his education debt. What follows is the ill-effects of the high-flying lifestyle that comes with money, taking unnecessary risks to maintain the lifestyle, getting caught and the lies and deceit to get the upper hand once more. The exciting story-line involving casinos and gaming and a common man getting better of the system managed to attract and entertain audiences, making it the highest-gross film of its time. AND IT STARS KEVIN SPACEY!  Molly’s Game The more recent 2017 movie Molly’s Game once again proved audiences’ love for casino-based movies. Based on the real-life memoirs of Molly Bloom, the film revolves around the story of an ex-athlete who managed to become successful and earn millions through clandestine Poker tournaments and her subsequent fight in a federal court. Also, a box-office success, the film, its story-line and the performances all managed to enthral audiences. PLEASE GAMBLE RESPONSIBLY THIS ARTICLE DOES NOT ENDORSE KEVIN SPACEY. BUT THEN, KEVIN SPACEY DOES NOT ENDORSE US..SO WHY SHOULD WE DO HIM ANY FAVOURS?

Simon and Jackie Go Crazy

Cache

So, I visited Montreal Simon to read his latest post, which was a condemnation of the Scheer Conservatives and their fans who are bringing USA-Repugnican style hatred and violent rhetoric up here. It started off well with a picture of some sub-literate right-wing moron holding up this ridiculous (and frightening) hand-made sign:

I've said on numerous occasions that stupid people must have the same right to vote as non-stupid people. But there needs to be gatekeepers to prevent the rise of stupid ideas and rage-fueled political movements from having any prominence greater than the level of three city blocks. Alas, for reasons of selfish cynicism our media and corporate elites see fit to pander to these cretins and stir them up. As well (whose kidding who?) from their own behaviour and the words that flow from their mouths, pens, pencils, keyboards, many among our elites aren't all that intelligent either.

Montreal Simon goes from trashing right-wing assholes calling for Trudeau to be "hung" (or run over by a truck) for taxing them, for verbally acknowledging global warming, for admitting Syrian refugees, for marching in PRIDE parades, and etc., ... where was I? .... Oh yeah, ... Simon goes from condemning those assholes to conflating them with progressives who yell at him for buying the TMX pipeline (so as to bail-out the Bay Street parasites who invested in that bitumen project) and praises Trudeau for asking his supporters (booing the guy) for tolerance as he lets his security drag the man away.

Immediately afterwards Simon mentions a guy who threw an egg at Trudeau during a climate march in Montreal, but it's unclear from the Global News video what that guy's agenda was. Personally, I've never gotten too incensed about ordinary people throwing pies (or, now, eggs) in the faces of politicians.

"What if that pie/egg had been a gun or a bomb or a knife?!?"

Yeah. But you're missing the important point that it wasn't a gun or a bomb or a knife. It was a cream-pie/egg. You could just as well shriek that the hand of someone extended for a handshake could have been a gun. But it wasn't. The person sticking their hand out to a passing politician just wants a handshake. Just as the person with the pie wants to make a statement and not kill anybody.

Simon then starts his spiel about how Justin Trudeau is the most activist politician fighting climate change EVAH!!!! because of his carbon tax and his investments in renewable energy industries. But, if Simon were honest (or not honestly ignorant) he would know that this is mere tinkering and that it is all cancelled-out by his continuing to develop the Tar Sands. Which is par for the course for a liberal politician. They're the masters n' mistresses of using empty words to gull their deluded followers. They "feel your pain." They "want to see all people rise to their full potential." They "don't want to see anyone left behind." They say the things we want to hear in order to get elected and continue to say those things as they enact policies that contradict their flowery words.

The end result of political cowardice and deliberate deceit by politicians like Justin Trudeau is going to be the extinction of most of the earth's life-forms. It will AT LEAST mean the deaths of tens of millions of people. Given this, it was justified for that protester to yell at Trudeau for his sickening devotion to the TMX pipeline. And it is the height of stupidity to conflate environmentalists with legitimate grievances with Islamophobic, racist, right-wing homophobic shit-heads threatening all their adversaries with murder. (Notice how that protester at the Liberal rally stayed right where he was and didn't make a step towards Trudeau.)

And, of course, the first "commentor" was Simon's in-all-but-name co-blogger "Jackie Blue." I haven't (and won't) read her entire densely-packed, extended comment. But she basically says that leftist "shit-disturbers" are as big a threat (to "rational centrists") as right-wingers. Now, given the evidence from Simon's own post, anyone not an idiot can see that isn't true. She then goes on to whine about the progressives who didn't vote for mass-murderess, corrupt scumbag Hillary Clinton. Because "Jackie Blue" continues with the bullshit story that she's a US-American and she continues with the bullshit belief that Hillary Clinton wasn't a murdering scumbag.

Hillary Clinton voted for the Iraq War you stupid fuck! She voted for a war based on obvious stupid lies. The war she voted for has KILLED ONE MILLION IRAQIS and maimed and traumatized millions more. And that's only one of her colossal "mistakes" that she made while servicing the oligarchy and becoming a multi-millionaire herself. And it was Hillary's own sense of entitlement that led her to rig the Democratic primary to defeat Bernie Sanders and thereby bring on the presidency of Donald Trump. Hillary gave us Trump you imbecile!

As a species, we have to do the hard work of overthrowing his rotten, inhuman, ecocidal system. And the longer that (mostly decent-minded) people like Montreal Simon pledge hysterical allegiance to hucksters like Liberals, the longer (and perhaps TOO LATE) will it take to start that job in earnest.

(I'll end by saying that I probably won't be voting. My riding is a contest between the Libs and the Cons. And, from reading this article, I'm pretty much deflated about my choices anyway.)

Trump Regime Targets Whistleblower Edward Snowden’s New Book

Cache
By Stephen Lendman
The Trump Regime sued Edward Snowden and publishers of his new memoir titled “Permanent Record.” More on this below.
Exposing government wrongdoing is a noble act. Like dissent, it’s a high form of patriotism, warranting praise, not persecution and condemnation.
The 1989 US Whistleblower Protection Act protects federal employees who report misconduct.
Federal agencies are prohibited from retaliating against individuals who do the right thing. Yet it happens time and again.
Whistleblowers may report law or regulatory violations, gross mismanagement, waste, fraud and/or abuse, or acts endangering public health or safety.
The FBI is exempt from WPA provisions. Instead of protecting the rights of whistleblowers, the agency targets them.
Since WPA’s 1994 revisions, it ruled on over 200 cases — only three times in favor of whistleblowers, the deck stacked against them. US law fails to protect them, circumvented by its police state apparatus.
The 2012 Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act (WPEA) failed to protect government employees from reprisal for disclosing official misconduct, revealing it to co-workers or supervisors, or disclosing policy decision consequences — any or all of the above in relation to their jobs or duties.
The Obama regime prosecuted more whistleblowers and leakers involved in exposing US wrongdoing than all his predecessors combined, nine targeted individuals, Trump following the same repressive practice, wanting US dirty linen concealed.
The US is a surveillance state. Big Brother watches everyone, privacy virtually nonexistent, including our health and financial records, cellphone and email communications, everything posted on social media, along with workplace and other public areas surveilled.
Exposing government wrongdoing is hazardous to personal safety and welfare. Julian Assange is imprisoned in London at the behest of the Trump regime — for the “high crime” of truth-telling journalism the way it should be universally.
Courageous whistleblower Chelsea Manning spent years in prison for revealing US high crimes of war and against humanity in Afghanistan and Iraq — imprisoned again indefinitely for refusing to aid the Trump regime’s lynching of Assange.
Granted asylum in Russia, a noble gesture, Edward Snowden was luckier. He followed in the footsteps of Daniel Ellsberg and likeminded others, connecting the dots for countless millions to know how they’re illegally and repressively spied on.
Earlier he said “I really want the focus to be on (documents revealed) which I hope will trigger among citizens around the globe what kind of world we want to live in.”
Enactment of the USA Freedom Act (the renamed Patriot Act) did little to change things. US spy agencies continue trampling on Bill of Rights protections.
They compromise due process, habeas rights, free expression, assembly and association, as well as protection from unreasonable searches and seizures.
Microsoft, Yahoo, Google, Facebook, Twitter, Skype, YouTube, Apple, and major telecommunications companies are complicit in spying on their customers for US dark forces.
US intelligence community spying targets friends and foes alike. It’s for total control, political and economic advantage, to be one up on foreign competitors —information used advantageously in trade, geopolitical, and military relations.
Domestic spying is longstanding. It has nothing to do with protecting national security. America’s only foreign, domestic, or terrorists threats are invented.
The Trump regimes Justice Department sued Snowden and three publishers of his memoir — MacMillan Publishers, Henry Holt and Co., and Holtzbrinck Publishers.
The repressive suit aims to freeze assets from book sales. US attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia G. Zachary Terwilliger said the following:
“Intelligence information should protect our nation, not provide personal profit (sic). This lawsuit will ensure that Edward Snowden receives no monetary benefits from breaching the trust placed in him (sic).”
The lawsuit is the latest example of Washington’s assault on speech, media and academic freedoms, targeting what diverges from the official narrative on major issues.
It accused Snowden and his publishers of going to press “without submitting (the book for) pre-publication review.”
The notion that US approval is required of current or former federal employees to write or speak publicly on issues related to their work flies in the face of their constitutional rights.
In response to the suit, Snowden tweeted: “The government of the United States has just announced a lawsuit over my memoir, which was just released today worldwide. This is the book the government does not want you to read…”
Already a bestseller, Snowden said in his preface “I used to work for the government, but now I work for the public,” adding:
“It took me nearly three decades to (understand the) distinction…I now spend my time trying to protect the public from the” US intelligence community — working against ordinary people .
Separately, he tweeted: “It is hard to think of a greater stamp of authenticity than the US government filing a lawsuit claiming your book is so truthful that it was literally against the law to write.”
It reveals no state secrets, nothing not already in the public domain, including from establishment media reports.
The ACLU and Knight First Amendment Institute are challenging the so-called pre-publication review process, attorney Max Kaufman, saying:
“(I)ts current form is broken and unconstitutional, and it needs to go.”
“It’s one thing to censor the nuclear codes, but it’s another to censor the same information high schoolers are pulling from Wikipedia.”
“Prepublication review gives the government far too much power to suppress speech that the public has a right to hear.”
Snowden hopes the DOJ lawsuit will promote his memoir, enabling it to attract greater readership worldwide.

    and nbsp;
  • Status spectrums, a new system of and lsquo;narrative damage and rsquo;. You can use descriptors to create any imaginable setback or advantage so that every action in the fiction, in and out of combat, can have lasting gameplay implications.
