Plummeting abortion rates in California expose the pro-life industry's fraudulent use of statistics. See American RTL's article, Abortion Regs Don't Work, Say Cal's Falling Rates. Bob also discusses the New York Times joining right wing conspiracy nuts like Alex Jones in the mutual paranoia, with the newspaper's column claim there's a good chance that conservatives will rise up with their guns to keep Donald Trump in the White House even if he loses the election. And briefly, Bob notes that the NFL still has trouble filling seats, appropriately so since their cave-in to the racist Black Lives Matter / hate the cops / blame everyone but the real killers protest.
Jeffrey, your well-publicized arrest for physically assaulting a female neighbor is most definitely not fake news. Just ask the North Coast Journal, Mad River Union & Lost Coast Outpost.
And Mitch, stop making everything about YOU. Yeah, you’re gay. We get it. Good for you! Gay Power! The outing previously referred to above had nothing to do with YOU or anyone’s sexual orientation actually (the implication of such was an obvious joke/dig at that bigot Bohn’s expense; my apologies that you took it personally for some reason ); it was about outing racist corrupt county supervisor Republikkkan Rex Bohn for his personal online trolling of local blogs, not for brain-damaged Bohn’s continual oral suction applied to Orange Julius’s tiny orange scrotum.
At the end of 2017, Tim Heidecker’s On Cinema—a web series lampooning film criticism that the comedian co-hosts with Gregg Turkington—apexed with a five-hour long, fictitious murder trial. Despite overwhelming evidence that Tim Heidecker’s character was guilty of several counts of murder (several attendees at a fake music festival he funded overdosed on vape pens, which these days hits a little too close to home), Heidecker was found innocent—and promptly launched a garish social media campaign around his implausible candidacy for San Bernardino district attorney.
This is where the feature-length film Mister America—which screens in Portland on Wednesday—comes in. It's a spin-off of a spin-off of a goofy web-series, and will likely only entertain those who have fully immersed themselves in the On Cinema universe—which, when taking into account the show’s 10 seasons, its annual Oscar specials, and its self-contained offshoot Decker, clocks in at an agonizing 20 hours of content.
If you are one of those people, Mister America is frequently funny. At best, it plays like a bizarro version of The War Room—just sub George Stephanopoulos with a woefully incompetent publicist-turned-campaign advisor named Toni (Terry Parks) and Bill Clinton for Heidecker’s On Cinema persona, a mix of O.J. Simpson and Trump. But just as often, Mister America's comedy is imperceptible: Take one early scene, when Heidecker and Toni discuss immigration. It doesn’t seem like a parody, and there’s no punchline. It just feels like a legitimately racist conversation, and it speaks to the dangers of ineffective satire. By the end of the film, when Heidecker breaks down and apologizes to his constituents after a violent outburst at a town hall debate, you don’t even feel sorry for the guy. You just want him out of your sight.
Former President Barack Obama weighed in on the mass shootings this past weekend in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, saying on Monday that Americans "should soundly reject language coming out of the mouths of any of our leaders that feeds a climate of fear and hatred or normalizes racist sentiments." In a statement released on Twitter , Obama did not mention President Trump by name, but his reference seemed clear. Obama denounced language from "leaders who demonize those who don't look like us, or suggest that other people, including immigrants, threaten our way of life, or refer to other people as sub-human, or imply that America belongs to just one certain type of people." Such language, Obama said, "has no place in our politics and our public life." He added that "it's time for the overwhelming majority of Americans of goodwill, of every race and faith and political party, to say as much — clearly and unequivocally." Obama's statement Monday was a rare occasion when the former
Who is it going to be? The pro-corporate, pro-Tar Sands, pro-imperialism, pro-austerity, pro-inequality, pro-etcetera-lots of bad things Liberals?
Or the pro-corporate, pro-Tar Sands, pro-imperialism, pro-austerity, pro-inequality, pro-racist, homophobic, christo-fascist Conservatives?
Or the semi-pro-corporate, pro-Fracking, semi-pro-imperialism, excluded by our electoral system NDP?
Or the pro-corporate, pro-Tar Sands Greens?
Or the racist fuckwads of shit-head Maxime Bernier's Canadian National Socialist Party?
Let's face it; these parties are representative of just how fucked our society is. We're dominated by capitalism, which at its base is an inhuman system. We're a society based upon the theft of Native lands. We're a cultural and economic colony of the USA. (At least English Canada is, culturally.) And, there's a lot of stupid, or ignorant, or both people in this country. Racist, deluded, hypocritical, selfish.
Perhaps all those activists who don't care for electoral politics are right. Perhaps their extra-parliamentary marches, demos, forums, websites, actions, etc., are the way to go. Except for the fact that they've shown themselves to be pretty much useless. Occasionally every party but the Conservatives (and sometimes even the Conservatives) feel obliged to mouth words to make people feel good about them. But does anything ever really change? There are some limits on the depredations of the oligarchy, but will it be enough to stave off the ecological nightmare that is looming over us?
I think we need to articulate a clear, achievable vision for this country. One that speaks to individuals' self-interests while also putting a halt to our more insane, destructive behaviour. And this must be accompanied by a clear plan for how to get there. Everything else is just spinning wheels.
Monday, October 7, 2019. It's a snapshot that mentions Carly Simon, Aretha Franklin, Gore Vidal, Iraqi protesters, Hunter Biden and the supreme idiot Alyssa Milano.
Let's start with the race in the US for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination. And let's start with one of the country's biggest losers, Alyssa Milano.
She was a child actress, she was not a child star. No studio came rushing to her saying, "Let's build a film around you!!!" Not even a movie about a child who ends up in an adult body. Drew Barrymore was a child star. Movies were built around her. As a young adult, both Drew and Alyssa starred in films about Amy Fisher. Drew did a wonderful job portraying Amy and Alyssa played Alyssa before the cameras but they called her "Amy Fisher."
As an adult, Alyssa got by on her boobs. That's all she had to offer. She never took to the time to study acting and she still gives the sort of 'performance' you'd expect from a child actress. She can recite lines very well, she just can't create a character.
She's latched on to #MeToo -- though she didn't create it. Rose McGowen has rightly called her out as fake ass. We have called her that too. Yes, Ileana Douglas is a friend of mine and, yes, Martin Scorsese had told me years ago about what Leslie Moonves did to Ileana. So, yes, I had a reason to defend her (and I noted all of that when I noted it here). What's Alyssa's reason for not standing with Ileana? Oh, that's right, she wanted Leslie to greenlight a TV show for her.
The whore stayed silent -- while preening and posing as brave and pretending to lead on MeToo -- because she wanted a TV show.
So the whore needs to shut up. She won't though.
She has no career and that's all the more pathetic when you grasp that she's married to a William Morris agent who uses the agency to get her jobs. So these pathetic jobs she's had in the last few years? From using the agency. Clients who aren't working and aren't married to a William Morris agent should register that she's getting jobs while they aren't.
She can't act. She thinks doing what she did as a child qualifies as acting. She's a stupid hick who's gotten by on her breasts back when she was young and now depends on hubby to get her jobs.
She can't act.
She's tried to play 'activist.'
One of those attempts include her pushing "PatriotNotPartisan" and she hectors Republicans whom she finds lacking.
But if she truly believed in patriotism over party, she wouldn't reTweet crap like this.
They note how you don't reTweet Neera if you're a feminist. They note Neera is a two-bit bitch who outed a woman who was being sexually harassed at work (Neera was the one who should have stopped the harassment, not covered it up, not outed the female who came forward), they noted that Neera, as revealed in her own e-mails, knew that Hillary shouldn't have used a private e-mail and what a scandal that was, they noted Neera herself has assaulted an employee and so much more.
A polite society doesn't reTweet Neera. And no feminist should ever do it.
But here's the point I'm making, Alyssa, don't say you put country above party when you reTweet that crap.
Hunter Biden is the portrait of corruption. That doesn't mean Trumps can't be as well. But on the left, we police our own or we are nothing but partisans.
I know this is hard for you because you're not just a hack, you're also an uneducated hick. You never went to a real school, you never went to college, you're just a really dumb person who spits out what people tell you. You lack the energy to educate yourself, you lack the skill to analyze. It's why you're so tired and pointless as an actress. It's why your idea of being 'political' is a bigger joke than you are.
Take your botched plastic surgery and your Democratic Party talking points that you try to pass off as insight and just sit down. Don't stand up again until your lazy ass has gone to college. And forget anyone voting you into public office. You're an uneducated idiot. No one in California will want you to represent them and I will back your opponent in the primary and get everyone I know to back them as well.
You are a menace to the public square. You try to use your fleeting fame to promote the ideas of party hacks, you offer nothing original, you only repeat and steal.
I don't have time for you and, frankly, the country doesn't either.
Let me note thanks to ____ for typing this dictation.
I am literally spitting blood. I had a tooth crack last night and had to have surgery and, apparently due to the diabetes, the bleeding hasn't stopped yet.
But I am taking the time to call out Alyssa because she is a danger to the public square. She has an audience of desperate shut-ins.
Alyssa's nonsense gives the appearance of celebrity but she's a faded actress who couldn't make it in the real world of adult acting. She was miserable on MELROSE PLACE because the stars of that show didn't like her (nor did the fans). She went to CHARMED and promptly began causing problems. She was a producer for the last half of the show's run -- a producer of a show set in San Francisco. So why didn't 'woke' Alyssa ever insist upon a gay or lesbian character? There were none -- apparently Phoebe lived in a special part of San Francisco inhabited by straights only. In addition, all the African-American characters (really just two) were created before Alyssa was a producer. "Woke," my ass. When people note her cultural appropriation these days or her racist portrayals of Native Americans, they should grasp her history. CHARMED ended 13 years ago. Her 'acting' since? Everyone hated her on the set of MY NAME IS EARL. Her sitcom ROMANTICALLY CHALLENGED resulted in the suit that championed the show getting fired and was so bad that ABC only aired four of the six filmed episodes and issued an edict that Alyssa wasn't to be cast in any ABC sitcoms. On MISTRESSES, she tried to pull the crap she pulled on CHARMED and get people fired but ABC backed KJ Steinberg and Tina Mimoun and told Alyssa she could leave. (Which Alyssa then pretended was her decision and was a result of the series moving to Canada. Did no one notice that "I can't leave my children" Alyssa now films in Georgia?) She was a witch on that set and all the actresses were thrilled when Alyssa was let go. Her current show? The actual stars of INSATIABLE are pretty damn tired of Alyssa billing herself as a star of the show. Not only is it a show about a teenage girl, but adult Alyssa isn't even in every episode. She is not a star of the show.
Alyssa and her shut-ins need to grasp that Alyssa's career ended some time ago and that's there's something deeply disturbing about a 46-year-old woman who delivers the same performance -- over and over -- that she did as a child.
The standard lines from Democrats about Hunter Biden and his business dealings in China and Ukraine have been consistent: Donald Trump has abused the office of the president by asking foreign leaders to investigate Biden’s son, and there is absolutely no proof that either Joe or Hunter Biden have done anything to break the law. Any questionable dealings by Biden’s son also pale in comparison to ethical breaches on the part of Ivanka, Eric or Donald Trump Jr, who have routinely blurred the lines between the extended Trump Organization – the family’s business empire –and their presence in the White House.
This is all true, and arguably these are the right lines vis-a-vis the long overdue impeachment proceedings. What’s harder to shake is the fact that Hunter Biden’s career is undeniably shady in the way that only the son of a longtime Washington insider could muster, failing upwards into positions of influence and power on the merits of his last name. And that should be considered a huge liability to Joe Biden, for months now considered heir apparent for the Democratic party’s presidential nomination.
It's interesting when educated women speak and write -- Sarah Chayes, Kate Aronoff. They're not screaming, "Say Trump! Say Trump!" No, educated women -- pay attention, Alyssa -- realize this is a real issue and that is needs to be discussed.
If you believe that Donald Trump and his family have done corrupt things since he became president, great, call him out on it. But grasp, it's going to be hard to call him out in a general debate -- to call him out on corruption -- if Joe Biden is the nominee. That's why you need a strong nominee -- and, yes, strength does include (and always has) integrity.
Behold the $50k/month international business genius: “Hunter...asked a homeless man in Pershing Square where he could buy crack. Hunter said that the man took him to a nearby homeless encampment...He returned to buy more crack a few times that week.”
HunterBiden at least served in the military the great kids of Don have no experience, don’t know how the government operates and no degree related to government or defense. Throwing stones at glass houses can be quite dangerous.

Poor, dumb Debbie.
Beau Biden served in the military. Hunter? He was in the Reserves, yes, but they kicked him out for cocaine use.
Former Dallas police officer Amber Guyger was sentenced to ten years in prison on Wednesday for the murder of Botham Jean. The sentence comes a day after she was convicted of murder and faced five to 99 years or life in prison.
Guyger has the opportunity to appeal the conviction.
The sentence came down after emotional testimony from the Jean family and the revelation that Guyger shared racist text messages.
In the texts she said black officers have a "different way of working" and joked about the death of Martin Luther King, Jr. Two days before she murdered Jean, a friend texted saying they adopted a German Shepard that "might be racist," to which Guyger replied, "It's okay ... I'm the same."
Last year, Guyger entered Jean's apartment and shot him as he sat in a chair watching television. In a 911 call at the scene of the crime, Guyger repeatedly admits she thought she was in her apartment, which was a floor below in the same complex.
The conviction is much more than a victory for the Jean family. Many see it as justice for people of color across America who've been killed by law enforcement and never received justice.
Research from NBC News shows that 900 to 1,000 people are killed by the police each year, but only 35 have been convicted of a crime related to an on-duty fatal shooting since 2005.
"This verdict is for Trayvon Martin," Ben Crump, an attorney for the Jean family, said Tuesday after the verdict. "It's for Michael Brown, it's for Sandra Bland, it's for Tamir Rice, it's for Eric Garner, it's for Antwon Rose, it's for Jemel Roberson, for EJ Bradford, for Stephon Clark, for Jeffrey Dennis, Genevieve Dawes, for Pamela Turner."
"For so many black and brown unarmed human beings all across America, this verdict today is for them," Crump continued. "Everybody can raise their hands — this verdict is for them. This verdict is for them."

On Sept. 6, 2018, just before 10 p.m., Guyger drove home after working a 13.5-hour shift. Upon arriving at what she thought was her front door, she failed to notice that, unlike her apartment, this one had a red door mat.
She put her key fob to the door but realized the door wasn't locked and pushed it open.
When Guyger arrived in the apartment she saw a shadowy figure she assumed was a burglar. According to testimony, she pulled out her gun and ordered the man to show his hands. She then discharged two rounds from her firearm.
That figure was an unarmed 26-year-old accountant named Botham Jean and it was his apartment.
Jean was watching television and eating a bowl of ice cream when Guyger entered the apartment.
Guyger had accidentally parked in the garage a floor above hers. She then walked past over a dozen apartments without realizing her mistake before arriving at Jean's apartment, directly above hers.
On a 911 call from the incident, Guyger can be heard saying, "I thought it was my apartment," 19 times.
"I'm an off-duty officer," Guyger told the 911 dispatcher. "I thought I was in my apartment. And I shot a guy thinking that he was... Thinking it was my apartment. ... I'm fucked."
Throughout the call she tries to roust Jean saying, "Hey bud. Hey bud. Stay with me, bud." She also apologizes to the dying man saying, "I'm sorry."
Jean was taken to a nearby hospital where he died.
Three days after the shooting, Guyger was charged with manslaughter. By the end of the month, she was fired by Dallas PD. A grand jury would later ratchet up her charge to murder, for which Guyger stands to spend life in prison.
Jean's death sparked many protests and demonstrations in the weeks after the shooting. A few days after the shooting, dozens of protesters gathered outside Dallas Police headquarters and officers fired pepper balls into the crowd.
On September 12, a Dallas City Hall meeting was brought to a halt after protesters chanted, "No justice, no peace."
After the verdict, Crump said Jean was a "near perfect" person.
"This jury had to make history in America today, because Botham was the best that we had to offer," Crump said. "Twenty-six year old, college-educated black man, certified public accountant, working for one of the big three accounting firms in the world, PricewaterhouseCoopers."
"But it shouldn't take all of that for unarmed black and brown people in America to get justice," Crump said.
Aston Villa said they were "disgusted and appalled" by social media footage that shows fans chanting a racist song during their Premier League win against Norwich.
A video following Saturday's 5-1 victory shows a group of Villa fans singing about the club's Zimbabwean midfielder Marvelous Nakamba and one other player, with references to several racial stereotypes.
Villa said in a statement: "Aston Villa is disgusted and appalled by footage circulating on social media of supporters chanting a racist song which makes reference to two of our first-team players.
"The club wholly condemns the chant and urges other supporters to help us identify those responsible."
Villa's statement said security staff would be vigilant at forthcoming games to ensure that anybody attempting repetition of the chant would be dealt with severely.
Former Villa striker Stan Collymore praised the club for acting "swiftly and unambiguously".
Aston Villa Supporters' Trust condemned the footage, describing the song's contents as "a cheap and insulting stereotype".

by Rod Williams - The highest incarceration rate is not a zip code in Chicago or New Orleans or Los
Angeles, but Nashville Tennessee. If one out of seven are incarcerated, think about the rate at which people in that age group are actually committing crime. Not everyone who is a criminal gets caught- probably only a minority of those committing crime are ever caught and not all of those who are caught are convicted.
Vice Mayor Jim Shulman is appointing a special committee of the Metro Council to investigate and explore why the incarceration rate is so high for this zip code. I know this area well. As an employee of Metro Development and Housing Agency in the late 70's and early 80's I worked in this area and then later as a housing counselor with the Woodbine Community Organization, I worked in this area for a long time. A couple of correlating factors I would predict will be discovered if anyone looks, is the rate of out of wedlock births and the low rate of high school graduation.
It's a startling statistic: a North Nashville neighborhood (ZIP code 37208) is said to have the highest incarceration rate in the entire country, according to the Brookings Institution.
Tennessee Bar Association: At 14 percent, the North Nashville zip code ranked three points higher than the next neighborhood on the list, in Portsmith, Virginia. The study’s authors did not examine causation for each geographic area, but cited factors such as family environment, biological stressors associated with poverty and the school-to-prison pipeline as potential connections. The Nashville Scene: This is 37208, the heart of historically black North Nashville and a community in which Nashville’s proud progress has often had a poisonous side. The local and federal government’s treatment of North Nashville for at least a century has ranged from neglect to outright racist hostility. Around 50 years ago, the construction of Interstate 40 displaced more than a thousand black residents, destroyed a business and cultural district on Jefferson Street that was thriving against all odds, and slashed across the neighborhood of the 37208 ZIP code, cutting it in half. ......A Brookings Institution study released in March looking at people born between 1980 and 1986 found that in the 37208 ZIP code, 1 out of every 7 people of that generation found themselves imprisoned in their 30s. That’s the highest rate in the country.
Crime is ranked on a scale of 1 (low crime) to 100 (high crime) Nashville (zip 37208) violent crime is 76.0. (The US average is 22.7) Nashville (zip 37208) property crime is 75.3. (The US average is 35.4)

Abiy Ahmed, the ethiopian pm came up with ‘innovative projects’, to bring back eritrean asylum seekers ‘under wonderful conditions’. It looks as if it has come out of one of trump’s twitter posts. It seems that all dictators use fake news as a major weapon during elections.
Maybe Netrnyahu was trying to sell his meeting and the discussion he had with Abey as a political ploy to gain more votes from the Israeli people, because he was afraid that people were turning their backs on him. Even the visit was said to be a means to win the hearts and minds of the ethiopian jews who seem to have been disappointed with the racist policies of Netenyahu’s government.
The PM of Israel may think that Abey is the right person to talk to Isaias Afeworki about eritrean refugees, and world leaders similarly believe the same thing since the last peace agreement. Unpredictable as Isaias maybe, it seems that that was not the case. Nothing has been heard since Abiy’s return.
Doing even the least thing that may help somebody in despair is not a bad idea, and when it is done to alleviate the sufferings of eritrean refugees in israel and elsewhere, be it the person is an eritrean or a foreigner. Abiy has shown on many occasions that he has a soft spot in his heart for refugees. Wherever he went he came back with a plane full of ethiopian refugees or sent planes to bring them back home, wherever they were stuck, be it in Saudi Arabia, Libya, Tanzania, etc. I am sure that he has already done a lot if his aim was to gain recognition and a title. It is part of his nature.
I do not know if the 200k eritrean refugees in ethiopia are raw material as well for Abiy, if the 20k are characterized as such. If there is money that comes out of refugees, it won't be the same as some eritreans have done through trafficking human beings and trading in human organs of their compatriots, that caused an immense mental and physical sufferings and deaths. If Abiy has anything to do, it is humanitarian - it is not about money or title.
The aim, in my opinion, is to soften the heart of the dictator, which many think that Abiy is the right person to do, so that IA accepts back home his people. Eritrean elites have not brought an iota of change in their country to ameliorate the plight of their people, other than to wait for the dictator’s natural demise, and the fittest is expected to survive until that day, be it in ten, twenty or even thirty years. Even after the demise of the dictator, no-one knows how that day is going to be - different or the same? Accusing somebody who may try to help, even if it is against their political stand, is not the right thing. They should accept even the little relief from suffering that might come by softening the heart of the dictator, because Abiy is in no place to force it upon IA, other than calling upon a change of heart.
If somebody does nothing to help, he/she is accused of doing nothing, even if somebody does something to help, again no one is spared of accusation. It is a weird world that can’t give a solution nor accepts another solution. The isaias factor, could be influenced at last against all odds, is the main point here. No solution is the right solution unless the solution is to the satisfaction of the eritrean elites, and the dire situation of the refugees does not seem to be an urgent agenda. It is wrong. Why shouldn’t eritreans return back to their homes instead of suffering and dying in the four corners of the world even if IA is in power, provided he changes his modus operandi, even at this late stage in his life. No one knows, it could happen. Otherwise, one must go and get him. Accusing somebody else will not help the situation. Unfortunately, whatever ethiopia does is simply an anathema.
Finally, the so called the “Orit” nation shows the frustration and hopelessness, the danger of giving up on independent eritrea, and the wish to sail blindly to uncharted waters, wherever they may end up. When reality is replaced with myth it shows that the situation has become stagnant for too long and it is creating hallucinations.
