Police in Las Vegas are dismayed to inform the public that a Henderson resident has passed away after a multi-day standoff with police. According to authorities in Henderson, the incident ended without any other injuries when police discovered the armed and barricaded subject deceased in a townhome on Callen Falls Avenue.

So far, the identity of the culprit hasn’t been publicly released. It’s also not clear how the person passed away. The individual’s cause of death will be released in the coming days after the Clark County coroner’s office conducts an autopsy.

Police have yet to release many details about what happened before or during the standoff. According to reports from neighbors, however, the home where the suspect was discovered was significantly damaged over the course of the multi-day standoff. Nearby neighbors say the side of the house that faces East Galleria Drive was very damaged and some parts were completely missing. People who walk by can see directly into the home. The garage door of the residence also appeared to be completely gone and possibly blown off by the police during the standoff.

Neighbors also stated that police asked them to leave their homes until the end of the standoff. The ordeal started at around 11:20 A.M. on Friday and lasted until Sunday at around 7:40 A.M. During the situation, police were asking the suspect to come out of the residence. They also repeatedly expressed the desire for everyone to come out of the incident safely. Eventually, authorities had no choice but to enter the home forcefully.

That’s when it’s assumed they discovered the victim deceased. No other injuries have been reported. Currently, the whole ordeal is being treated as an open investigation.

street race in Las Vegas, NVPolice reported that the accident led to two fatalities, and the victims were both minor teenagers.

Police say the incident occurred last month on March 1, and the whole ordeal was caught on camera. The 26-year-old suspect, Jacob Michael Ybarra, was reportedly driving and racing alongside the two teenagers. Ybarra was driving an Acura TLX, while the teenagers (16 and 17 years old) were driving a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria.

Reports suggest that both cars were traveling at around 75 mph in a 35 mph zone right before the crash. While Ybarra drove alongside the other car, the Ford suddenly struck a pickup truck around Pyramid Drive and Vegas Drive. After spinning out of control, the truck then smashed into a light pole.

Reports from the night of the crash reveal that Ybarra dropped off his passenger at the scene of the crash before immediately driving away from the crash.

After investigating what happened, police discovered photographs of Ybarra’s Acura TLX on the teenager’s phones. That helped police identify the suspect. When questioned about the event, Ybarra claimed that he wasn’t racing but was actually just driving alongside the teens. Detectives later determined that the suspect’s story didn’t pan out because the teenagers met with Ybarra at a car wash before the incident. That’s when the teenagers took photos of the suspect’s car and arranged the race.

Authorities are charging Ybarra with two counts of reckless driving causing substantial injuries and failing to stop at a crash site.

What to Do When Recklessness Becomes Criminal

Reckless driving can become a criminal offense in several ways. Anytime you leave the scene of an accident that you caused where injuries are present, for instance, that’s considered a crime. It’s also considered a crime to intentionally drive carelessly in such a way that shows disregard for other people’s safety and property. Reckless driving is usually a misdemeanor in Las Vegas, but charges can be upgraded when injuries or property damage is significant. Reckless driving can also be criminal if the suspect was drinking, doing drugs, or was otherwise intoxicated while attempting to drive.

To prove the other driver was reckless, you need to show that they were aware that their actions posed unnecessary risks and chose to ignore them. Intent is irrelevant in reckless driving cases, and it can be proven when the other driver is speeding, breaking traffic rules, ignoring stop signs and traffic lights, or acting out in road rage.

Have you recently been implicated in an accident that caused a serious injury? Have you been charged with a crime? If so, then it’s important for you to hire a criminal defense attorney to help you navigate your situation.

If you’re in Las Vegas or a nearby area, then schedule a call with our office now to get in touch with an attorney who can help.

sentencing of a Las vegas shooter40-year-old Eddie Rabon recently pleaded guilty to attempted murder and first-degree kidnapping on March 28th after a 2023 shooting rampage incident.

According to court records, the original incident happened back on April 13, 2023. Rabon was living at a home with his girlfriend at 3574 Full Sail Drive in Las Vegas at the time.

Rabon had decided that he wanted to take a trip to California, so he invited his girlfriend and her young daughter. The girlfriend allegedly respectfully declined the offer because her daughter had a soccer event coming up and didn’t really want to go on the trip.

When Rabon heard that news, he was upset. He directed his girlfriend to the bathroom with him. There, he asked her to have sex, but she refused. This reportedly sent Rabon into a rage. Unfortunately, alcohol was also a factor in the anger. According to reports, Rabon took his girlfriend’s actions as an indicator that she wanted to leave him and end the relationship. To stop that from happening, he threatened to kill her with an AR-15.

The girlfriend thought quickly and asked to say goodbye to her daughter one last time. Rabon let her go, and she ran to her daughter’s room. She locked the door behind her, and Rabon opened fire. Thankfully, no one was injured despite the suspect shooting off 27 shots. Six of the bullets entered into the bedroom, but several others exited the residence and landed at another home in the neighborhood. Rabon then entered into his garage and started firing more rounds off.

At that point, the girlfriend backed down and agreed to go on the trip to California with Rabon. Rabon prepared to leave but went back into the residence to retrieve something. That’s when the girlfriend and her daughter made their escape and immediately rushed to find a police vehicle nearby.

The plea agreement worked into Rabon’s favor. He will only serve eight years to life behind bars. He will serve 2-20 years for attempted murder, 1-10 years for using a deadly weapon, and 5 years-life for the kidnapping count. Surprisingly, this isn’t the first time Rabon has been convicted of kidnapping. In 2014, he was convicted of second-degree kidnapping.

How to Arrange a Solid Plea Deal

Despite the suspect’s significant criminal history and seriousness of the crimes he committed, he was offered a very reasonable plea deal. If you’ve recently been charged with a violent crime, then it might also be in your best interests to consider seeking out a similar type of plea deal.

So, how does it work? In a nutshell, you’ll agree to plead guilty in exchange for a reduced and lightened sentence. In general, it’s best to work with an attorney who can help you set up a good plea deal. Without an attorney, you might wind up pleading guilty without actually securing any beneficial deal from the prosecutor. If the prosecutor isn’t offering a good deal, then it might simply be better to plead not guilty and use a different defense strategy.

las vegas cop fired for dui34-year-old Chasen Bradford worked very hard to obtain a job working as a Henderson police officer. Still, all of his training, education, and persistence amounted to nothing as he got fired about 48 hours after officially accepting an offer.

According to police, the newly hired rookie was just welcomed to the department on March 21 along with 13 other police academy graduates.

Just one night after receiving this amazing news, Bradford made the mistake of choosing to drink and drive. He was arrested and charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence. He was booked into the Henderson Detention Center.

The Henderson Police Department put out a statement after news of the arrest went public. The authorities said that their department has a zero tolerance policy for driving while under the influence. They also confirmed that no one was harmed as a result of the newly hired officer’s recklessness, but the officer will be losing his position at the Police Department effective immediately.

The recent incident is still under investigation.

Is Your Recent DUI Derailing Your Life?

On average, about one in 10 arrests are the result of driving while under the influence. If you were recently taken to jail as a result of drinking and driving, then it’s important for you to hire a DUI defense attorney as soon as possible because an arrest and especially a conviction can completely derail your financial, professional, and personal life.

First, a DUI might immediately impact your ability to work. You’ll be arrested and taken to jail. This could cause you to miss time off of work until you secure bail money. Even once you’re able to get out on bail, your driver’s license will also be suspended as a result of your arrest. That means you won’t be able to legally drive yourself to work until you resolve your legal situation.

For your driver’s license situation, you have a very limited time to request a DMV hearing to preserve your right to drive back and forth to work. If you don’t request a hearing promptly, then your license will automatically be suspended.

Another way that a DUI charge can derail your plans is if you get convicted. If convicted, then you could be ordered to serve out time in jail, perform community service, pay fines to the court, and experience a long-term license revocation.

Since time isn’t on your side and the potential consequences of a conviction are significant, it usually makes the most sense to hire a DUI defense attorney to help you navigate your charges. The right lawyer will help you develop a solid defense strategy that’s likely to produce the most favorable legal outcome in your situation.

Here at LV Criminal Defense, our attorneys have helped dozens of Las Vegas citizens navigate the criminal justice system after getting arrested for a DUI. Whether this is your first DUI or you’re potentially facing another conviction, we can help. Schedule a meeting now to talk about your charges in more detail with our lawyers.

At around 1:30 A.M. on Sunday March 10th, the Las Vegas Police were called out to the scene of an accident on Centennial Parkway and Bruce Street. When they arrived, they discovered a Hyundai Sonata fully engulfed in a car fire.

Responders from the North Las Vegas Fire Department rushed to put out the fire, and that’s when they discovered a body inside of the car. Unfortunately, the person inside was declared deceased. There was only one occupant found in the Hyundai, and their identity has not yet been made public.

Investigators also found another vehicle at the scene – a 2020 Dodge Challenger. This vehicle appeared to have heavy front-end damage. After analyzing the damage to both cars, investigators pieced together what they believe happened early on Sunday. According to their report, they believe the driver of the Challenger was heading westbound on Centennial Parkway. While nearing Bruce Street, authorities suspect the Challenger was speeding.

When the Sonata stopped, the Challenger didn’t have enough time to hit the brakes. It slammed into the other vehicle. The impact, police believe, immediately caused the Sonata to catch fire.

Authorities think there were multiple occupants in the Dodge Challenger. After the accident, it’s believed that all the suspects fled on foot. Police also believe that impairment may have contributed to the decision to flee the scene.

What are the Consequences of a Hit and Run in Las Vegas?

It’s a crime in every state to flee the scene of an accident, especially when that accident caused property damage or injuries. In Las Vegas, if you are involved in a crash that ultimately leads to an injury or death, then you will face substantial consequences if convicted. You could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison.

As if that wasn’t rough enough, you’ll also likely be ordered to pay fines of up to $5,000, serve out time on probation after your release, and of course, have your license revoked. Your charges will be considered a felony, which means you’ll suffer life-altering consequences if convicted. You could lose the right to vote, possess a firearm, or ever hold public office.

What’s more, you could face separate hit-and-run charges for every person that gets injured or passes away.

Under the law in Nevada, you should always stop your vehicle at the scene of the crash and remain at the scene until you’ve arranged for medical care for anyone injured. If you’re involved in a hit-and-run that doesn’t lead to any injuries, then your actions will still be considered a crime, but it will be reduced to a misdemeanor.

If you were involved in a recent accident and you made the decision to flee, then you may be wondering what your best legal options are. Here at LV Criminal Defense, our team of skilled defense attorneys can help you determine the best way to navigate what happened.

Schedule a meeting with our firm now to discuss your accident in more detail with our team.

murder suicide in las vegasOn March 2nd at around 12:11 A.M., concerned neighbors called the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department when they heard shots ring out in an apartment complex. Police rushed out to the 3000 block of South Decatur Boulevard to the apartments on Saturday.

When they arrived, police discovered two males both suffering from gunshot wounds inside of an apartment unit. Medical personnel rushed to provide care to the men, but both individuals were declared deceased at the scene.

Police began an initial investigation into what happened. Quickly, they learned that the two men had been in a loud, verbal altercation just prior to the gun being fired.

Investigators believe that the fight led the culprit to pulling a weapon on 38-year-old Joshua Dilley. After fatally shooting the victim, the perpetrator is believed to have turned the gun on himself. The identity of the alleged shooter has not yet been released. The Clark County Coroner’s Office is expected to release more information about the two victims, the cause of death, and the manner of death in the coming days.

Investigators are also continuing to look into what happened. For now, the situation has been labeled a murder-suicide.

Nevada: Murder, Voluntary Manslaughter, and Other Shooting Crimes

Arguments, confrontations, and disagreements are a part of life. If you get into a situation that feels out of control, never make the mistake of thinking that violence is the only way out – especially violence in the form of a murder or suicide.

If you’ve already committed an act of violence, then understand that there are always legal strategies that you can take advantage of. When you hire a criminal defense attorney, they can help you unpack your charges, identify potential defense strategies you can use, and help you construct a legal strategy moving forward.

Depending on the facts surrounding the incident, you might be able to have your charges reduced. For instance, if you’re facing murder charges, then it might be possible to construct a defense strategy focused on getting your charges reduced to voluntary manslaughter. Unlike murder, voluntary manslaughter is not premeditated. This label defines a crime that occurred in the heat of passion. It comes with less severe consequences.

Murder could result in penalties like the death penalty or life in prison. Voluntary manslaughter, on the other hand, is punishable by 1-10 years in Nevada State Prison and fines of up to $10,000.

Another common type of defense strategy is to argue that your actions were conducted in self-defense. If the other party was threatening to fatally wound you, then fatal force in response is a justified response.

On top of these two common defense strategies, there may be other options available to you depending on your specific situation. The best way to learn more about your options is to get in touch directly with a criminal defense attorney.

If you’re in Las Vegas and you’re facing criminal charges, then our firm can help. Schedule a meeting with our team now to learn more about how we can help.

Murder suspect in Las VegasPolice say 36-year-old Mark Michael Ford is believed to have killed two individuals a week apart in February. The first incident is believed to have occurred on February 20th, a Tuesday. Investigators say they discovered the unresponsive female deceased at the 11000 block of Andorra Street after succumbing to gunshot wounds. The victim was later identified as 36-year-old Jessica Russo.

About five days later, on Sunday, a second victim was discovered suffering from gunshot wounds at the 7000 block of North Hualapai Way. The individual was quickly transported to the University Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. Investigators confirmed that the two victims both knew each other, but they didn’t go into detail about the relationship the two had.

In a news release regarding the second discovery, police put out a message asking for the public’s help in finding Mark Michael Ford, who they believed was still in the Las Vegas area.

Sadly, this recent string of violence wasn’t the first time that Ford was accused of taking someone else’s life. A look into the suspect’s background revealed that on February 24, 2003, Ford broke into Vincent Gomes’ home and stabbed him in the neck. That incident resulted in a life sentence for Ford, with the eligibility for parole after 20 years. At some point, the Nevada Department of Corrections released Ford on parole.

Police are saddened to report that Ford was discovered deceased later on Sunday. While an investigation remains ongoing, initial reports suggest the death may have been a suicide.

luring a minor in Las VegasThe Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that a 31-year-old male was recently arrested for attempting to lure a minor after a disturbing incident occurred near Cottonsparrow Street.

According to police, the suspect, later identified as Irving Malagon, was driving around a neighborhood at around 2:38 P.M. on Thursday, February 15th. He was in a black two-door sedan near North Buffalo Drive and West Elkhorn Road when he saw an 11-year-old alone.

Malagon was allegedly inappropriately touching himself when he pulled up next to the juvenile victim. He then proceeded to attempt to lure the minor to get into the car. He reportedly also asked the child to engage in a sex act.

Thankfully, the young child had a relative with a home nearby that they were able to quickly flee to. The adults called the police to report what happened, but Malagon had already fled the area. One day later, police were able to identify the culprit and track him down.

Malagon has been charged with luring a child to engage in a sex act and open and gross lewdness. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center. If anyone else in the community has information about other incidents that may have occurred, then they are being asked to reach out to Northwest Area Command Detectives at 702-828-8577.

The Consequences of a Sex Crime in Las Vegas

In Las Vegas, getting convicted of open and lewd grossness can result in up to a year in jail for a first offense. Repeated offenses will increase the penalty to up to four years in prison. A conviction of luring a child to engage in a sex act could lead to a sentence of anywhere from one to fifteen years in prison as well as fines of up to $10,000.

What’s more, getting convicted of a sex crime will mean that you’ll get listed on a sex offender registry even after you serve jail time and get released. Once you’re considered a registered sex offender, you’ll face restrictions when it comes to where you can live, work, and even visit. Your name, picture, past conviction, and even your address will become public information.

All that said, the best way to avoid suffering through these penalties is to consider all your options when it comes to defending yourself. The right criminal defense attorney can help you go over everything that happened, the specific charges you’re facing, your potential defense strategies, and your best course of action.

Depending on what happened, it might be in your best interest to plead guilty to a lesser charge in exchange for leniency. If at all possible, then it’s better to be charged with a crime that won’t cause you to be listed as a sex offender for years to come.

Have you recently been charged with a sex-related crime in Las Vegas? Here at LV Criminal Defense attorneys, our team can help you go over your options. Schedule a meeting with us now to get started.

3rd dui in Las VegasThe Las Vegas Police Department is discouraged to report that they had to arrest 36-year-old Sean Larimer on a bench warrant after he failed to appear in court over a recent DUI charge.

Unfortunately, Larimer’s refusal to show up could be connected to yet another DUI arrest he faced last month. Even worse, Larimer has a very dark past when it comes to getting into drunken accidents.

According to court records, Larimer was convicted in 2003 after a triple-fatality DUI crash. Larimer had been drinking and driving when he caused the fatal crash at only 15-years-old. Reports show that he was driving over 80 mph in a 25 mph zone when he slammed into a wall in a neighborhood. The incident took the lives of Josh Perry, Kyle Poff, and Travis Dunning. Another person in the vehicle, Cody Fredericks, was also injured. At the time, Larimer’s blood alcohol level registered at 0.19%, which is double the legal limit in Nevada.

Considering Larimer’s young age, it makes sense that he wasn’t given a maximum sentence, and the courts went a little easier on him. In Nevada, causing someone else a substantial bodily injury or a fatal injury while driving under the influence is considered a class B felony. The minimum sentence for this type of charge is two years, but it can reach up to a maximum of 20 years in state prison.

Sadly, Larimer’s early experience with the criminal justice system wasn’t enough to deter his behavior. In August of last year, Larimer was once again arrested for a DUI accident. During his initial trial, he pleaded guilty and agreed to serve community service, attend DUI traffic school, and spend 30 days in jail.

This leniency was given since his earlier conviction as a juvenile couldn’t be held against him. On January 25th, Larimer was set to get sentenced. This sentencing hearing could be impacted, though, because Larimer was once again arrested last month. In Henderson, he was caught drinking and driving again after crashing his car into a wall in a parking lot.

After getting arrested for his additional DUI, Larimer failed to show up in court for a hearing. This caused the judge to issue a bench warrant and arrest the suspect. He’s currently in custody without the possibility of bail.

Don’t Let a DUI Derail Your Life

Larimer’s initial adult DUI charge could’ve been resolved without serious consequences. After all, a 30-day jail sentence, community service, and DUI class is preferable to spending a significant amount of time behind bars.

If you’ve recently been charged with a DUI, then don’t let the charge completely derail your life. Get in touch with a criminal defense attorney who can help you determine your best legal options. If it’s your first DUI charge, then there’s a great chance that the court will show you leniency.

Are you looking for representation in Las Vegas? If so, then our team of DUI criminal defense attorneys can help. Schedule a meeting with us now to get started.

wife stabbed in vegasOn February 3rd, the Metropolitan Police Department was called out to a home on the 4900 block of Chantilly Avenue at around 1:30 A.M. Upon arriving to the house, police promptly discovered a woman who was suffering from multiple stab wounds. Tragically, the victim was declared deceased at the scene of the assault.

Officers discovered 53-year-old Moises Sanchez in the driveway of the home. Sanchez admitted to fatally stabbing his wife while she was in bed next to their 5-year-old child. Police immediately took the suspect into custody, and he’s being charged with open murder.

Sanchez admitted to authorities that he had been arguing with his wife for several months over alleged affairs. Sanchez also said that his wife’s lack of affection towards him is what eventually drove him over the edge to commit the murder. He reportedly came home on the night of the attack to find his wife in bed. He allegedly attempted to hug her several times from behind, but she pushed him away. At that point he admitted that he “lost it” and began stabbing her with a knife.

When he realized what he did, he moved his daughter to a new bed and called his cousin to admit what he had done. Then, he called the police.

Do You Have Questions About Domestic Violence?
