Distraction Based Accidents

One of the most common causes of car accidents can be blamed on distracted driving. Driving while focused on something else diverts a person’s attention away from the primary task of driving. This bad habit endangers the safety of the driver, passenger, and bystander. Texting, talking, eating/drinking, and adjusting the radio are just a few things that could potentially be distracting while behind the wheel.

ऀThe most prevalent and also most serious distraction is text messaging, because it requires visual, manual, and cognitive attention from the driver. The National Safety Council estimates 757,358 deaths this year so far involving drivers using cell phones and texting while driving. If you or someone you know has been involved in a car accident, <a href=" 911 call 411: 1-800-411-PAIN. 411 PAIN will put you in touch with an aggressive, experienced and knowledgeable attorney who will fight for your rights and get you the money you deserve.

NFL Wide Receiver for the Detroit Lions Nate Burleson was recently involved in a distraction based car accident. What was distracting Burleson while driving? A pizza box! He had two boxes of pizza’s sitting on top of one another and while he was driving one of them slipped off. He reached over to push it back onto the seat causing him to take his focus away from driving and hit the median wall. Luckily, no one else was involved and Burleson will be getting surgery this week to fix his broken arm – but this example of a distracted driver causing an accident must be a lesson to us. The best way to end distracted driving is to get educated about the dangers and potential harms it can cause. Using Your Turn Signal

A cars turn signal is one of its most important and probably most unused part. Using your turn signal gives other drivers important information about the direction in which your car is going. They make sure drivers are aware of their surroundings and aware of the intentions of other drivers. A 2012 study conducted by the Society of Automotive Engineers came to the conclusion that not using your turn signal while driving is more of a problem than distracted driving and results in twice as many accidents, proving how dangerous it is when drivers chose not to use their turn signals.

The turn signal was patented in 1938 to provide a sense of communication between drivers. It’s the most effective way to announce your intentions to those around you. It allows drivers to plan for changes in traffic flow so they can have enough space and time to maneuver in the event of unexpected lane changes, merges, or speedily moving cars. A driver needs to be able to act on those unexpected changes as they occur and not using the turn signal means the driver isn’t providing those around them with the information they need to protect themselves from these changes and ensure that a collision doesn’t occur.

Using your turn signal results in an increased awareness of your surroundings. When you combine the power of the turn signal with looking around to know exactly where cars are positioned makes for a better driver and helps guarantee that those around you are safe as well. One way to ensure that the public uses their turn signal when they’re supposed to is to have authorities to crack down on those who don’t use them. Others suggest that new cars should be equipped with warnings similar to those that tell you to put on your seatbelt, which could also be effective.

Driving a vehicle comes with responsibilities. When sharing the road, using your turn signal is vital in communicating your intentions with fellow drivers. If you or someone you know has been involved in a car accident, remember <a href=" 911, call 411! 1-800-411-PAIN can put you in touch with a knowledgeable, aggressive, and experienced network attorney that can help you get the compensation you deserve.
2013/10/using-your-turn-signal.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (Anonymous)tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7182457920998602672.post-1878670594200060756Fri, 20 Sep 2013 01:03:00 +00002013-09-19T18:03:04.909-07:00USB & SUV Drives

USB & SUV Drives

Head to the store and buy your last CD album. Technology is moving faster than the speed of light. First we had floppy discs, then CDs and now USBs and SUVs. USBs and SUVs will eventually be replaced by something newer and better. Most new cars already come with USB ports. Who knows? Perhaps we’ll have wireless iPods in the future. We wouldn’t need to insert or hook up a thing. Information will be so readily available that all you’d need is a receiver. Dial 1-800-411-PAIN after a crash in the state of Florida.
Why are SUVs so popular? Perhaps it is because even though you spend more on gas, they are bigger and apparently safer. They were a good deal when they first came out but not any longer. I guess people are finding out how hard is to park them or get them through tight spaces. Although ‘some say’ you don’t get hurt in an accident if you drive an SUV, it’s always good to look at the other side of the coin. The other driver(s) involved in the accident will sustain more serious injuries if you drive an SUV. Sadly, SUVs pollute twice as much of the environment. Larger SUVs have an occupant death statistic that is 8 percent higher than cars. The car industry’s advertising has been highly effective in making us believe otherwise.
USB drives are quickly becoming crowd-pleasing these days and will eventually supplant CDs. People get all nostalgic about it but the truth is sooner or later your CD albums will play nowhere. It happened with the floppy disks and it’ll probably happen with the USBs in the near future. Remember, floppy disks became available in 1971, only 42 years ago. CDs came out 10 years later.
For help with knowing what to do after a vehicle collision, call 1-800-411-PAIN in Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Gainesville, Ocala, Orlando, Tampa, Clearwater, Fort Myers, Naples, West Palm Beach, <a href=" PAIN Fort Lauderdale or Miami.
2013/09/usb-suv-drives.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (Anonymous)tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7182457920998602672.post-12379351781349601Wed, 28 Aug 2013 17:22:00 +00002013-08-28T10:22:23.327-07:00What to do if you are a victim of a hit and run

As a driver in Florida, the chances of being involved in a hit and run accident are very high. Hit and runs are known in legal terms as leaving the scene of an accident. It is a crime in Florida but that does not stop people. The Florida Highway Patrol reported that over the course of 2012, over 70,000 hit and run accidents had occurred. The service of 1-800-411-PAIN was created to help people in these situations.

If you are involved in a hit and run:

Stay calm - As hard as it sounds in such a moment, being calm is necessary so that you can act swiftly and intelligently.

Stay safe - Make sure you as well as your passengers are fine. As a driver, you are responsible for the well being of those in your car. See if they have suffered any injuries from the accident and check how many people were involved.

Inform yourself - Try to find any information you can about the vehicle before it leaves. Take a mental picture of the license plate, the make, model and any other details of the vehicle as well as the person driving it.

Call the police - Hit and run accidents are a punishable offense and you also need a police report for your insurance claim. Tell the police how the accident happened in detail and try to describe the car and driver.

Call 1-800-411-PAIN - They will give you peace of mind by helping you secure the medical and legal services for your needs.

411 PAIN - Hazardous Intersections

Intersections can be overwhelming at times. They remind us that we need some time off and inspire us to plan our next vacation. Traffic lights changing and the constant noise of vehicles coming from every direction somehow invade our sense of privacy. A variety of things happen at intersections. There are enough stories to fill our news every day: people yelling at each other, car accidents, homeless asking for money, the lovely old man with a bright smile selling flowers. It makes us think about how lost our world must be that the old and the forsaken wander in our streets begging for a chance to live while the younger crash into each other. Dial <a href="; if you have been injured in an accident in the state of Florida.

The human brain can’t perform well when involved in too many tasks. It can only do so many tasks at once. Don’t let your guard down when approaching an intersection. Look both ways and don’t run red lights. The most common cause of intersection crashes is driving too close to the vehicle ahead and failing to yield to another car. In order to avoid traffic collisions you must follow the traffic signals. Sometimes, when traffic lights are not working properly or the red light is flashing, you must proceed with caution as if it were a stop sign.

You should always stay alert and avoid distractions when approaching intersections. Distracted driving will definitely lead to accidents. The most common distractions are texting and phone calls. Both require your mental and visual attention which is indubitably needed to drive properly. Other common distractions are applying makeup, eating, talking to people in the car, watching a video and changing a radio station.
Slow down before you enter an intersection. Accidents that occur on these parts of the roads may cause severe injuries. Road Debris Accidents

Accidents caused by trash on the road can be catastrophic. You might suddenly have to break to avoid the debris which can be dangerous especially if you are speeding. Injuries sustained in these aggressive accidents can be fatal. Each state has agencies responsibly for the proper maintenance of the roads. These organizations are often blamed for these types of accidents. If you become the victim of an accident caused by debris, contact <a href="; at 1.800.411.PAIN.

Vehicles braking all of a sudden because of debris on the road might cause the car behind crash into it. Debris on the road can also cause tire blow outs. When a tire blows out, especially in a speeding vehicle, rollover is inevitable. The driver loses control causing the vehicle to leave the road and end up who knows where. It’s all about the laws of physics. Turning your steering wheel successfully will fix the problem.
Claims against government agencies can be complicated at times. Each state has specific rules to file a claim. The claim must be made during the specific time otherwise it won’t be valid. Some states require the claim filed within 30 days of the accident and some others might even allow you to file the claim after the period has lapsed as long as you show some prove for the delay.

Try to reduce your speed when driving close to debris. Besides having a longer reaction time you’ll also avoid unnecessary accidents. In South Florida debris can be overwhelming: fallen trees, corpses of wild animals, tourists’ trash, etc. Take control of your steering and don’t allow someone else’s rubbish ruin your day. Is It Safe For Pedestrians?

Pedestrians can also get severely injured in car accidents. Most injuries affect the head and limbs and can cause deaths, head injuries and can often impair victims for life. Drivers and pedestrians are both responsible for the safety of our roads. To avoid accidents, everyone must exercise care and concern when on the road. Seniors and kids are usually fragile and unaware of their surroundings; therefore they tend to experience <a href=" accidents more often. They are more vulnerable to accidents and don’t have any protection against them. Children and older people are often left unattended and they can wander onto the streets. This could be very dangerous especially during rush hour. Some of the common injures pedestrians sustain in traffic collisions are: broken bones, head injuries, burn injuries and also spinal cord injuries. Call 1-800-411-PAIN if you have been struck by a car, bicycle or any other vehicle.

Thousands of pedestrians suffer fatal injuries each year in traffic collisions. Accidents resulting from vehicles turning or backing are the worst. Many of these accidents, especially in Florida, happen during bad weather, heavy rain or thunderstorms. Think about things you can do to avoid these deadly accidents. Pedestrians must be on the lookout. Crosswalk timers are great but sadly they are not going to always be there for you. Crossing with other pedestrians is a great idea. You’ll feel safer and drivers usually respect crowds. 2013/07/is-it-safe-for-pedestrians.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (Anonymous)tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7182457920998602672.post-9087242609152983513Mon, 01 Jul 2013 04:23:00 +00002013-07-04T21:23:33.571-07:00Miami Florida - GPS Systems

411 PAIN Grieving a Wrongful Death

Every human being is entitled to leave this world only after having lived a full life. Thousands of lives are taken each year by the irresponsible lifestyle of others, forcing family and friends to go through deep grieving stages. Feelings of loneliness and despair are common in people that have recently lost loved ones as victims of unexpected accidents. Most people don’t know what to say or do during these trying times. Grieving can be more difficult and even turn into anger when the death was caused by someone’s negligence. Contact <a href=" PAIN at 1-800-411-PAIN to get help at this painful time. We have offices in Atlanta, Macon, Columbus, Brunswick, Albany, Savannah, Brunswick, Marietta, Roswell, and The Blue Ridge Mountains.

We all go through grieving stages after a loved one has passed away. Whether it is depression, anger, denial or isolation, our skies can become pretty dark when we grieve. Depression is one of the most common stages. If the deceased person was a relative or spouse we’ll miss them terribly every time someone says something that reminds us of our loved one, and every time we visit his or her favorite restaurant, museum, library, or any other place they enjoyed visiting. You’ll eventually get to the last stage of grieving, acceptance; but that’s going to take some time.

Grief counseling might help or perhaps the encouraging words of a friend or maybe visiting a support group. You may want to be left alone for a while and that’s ok. Grieving is a natural process. Don’t avoid it. Your healing might take longer if you resist it. It’s ok to take time. 411 Pain Small Cars Rock

Small cars have become very popular over the years. There are many reasons why this is happening and mainly they are gas prices being off the chart, health care costs rising and unemployment or loss of wages on the increase. I’m not trying to paint a pessimistic picture here but small cars aren’t luxury. They are a necessity. They are affordable, spend less on gasoline and help reduce traffic congestion and issues with parking space. For help after a vehicle collision, contact 411 PAIN.

Automakers have found a way to meet their sales goals. They are now creating smaller cars that provide as much comfort and attractiveness as the larger versions. Ford, General Motors and Hyundai have an amazing selection of fully equipped compact cars available in a variety of colors and designs. GM emerged from the ashes with a compact car and I’m pretty sure many other car manufacturers will greatly benefit from the production of small vehicles.

Other factors influencing the popularity of small cars are loss of wages and unemployment. Although the unemployment rate has slightly dropped in 2013, there are still thousands of people that still continue to be unemployed since last year. Sadly, many people quit looking for jobs. That’s the reason why they were not counted as unemployed and the unemployment rate seems to have slightly dropped. The other factor is salary. Taking advantage of the bad economy, some companies decided to lower their salaries and hire younger people in order to pay less. This, coupled with health insurance costs rising, forces many to operate smaller vehicles.

Small-car sales are definitely going to bit up larger vehicles sales. Let’s face it. It’s very annoying parking next to a truck or SUV. Those things take up almost two parking spaces. Dial 1-800-411-PAIN after a car crash in the state of Florida.
2013/06/411-pain-small-cars-rock.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (Anonymous)tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7182457920998602672.post-1489457642755900848Fri, 21 Jun 2013 06:55:00 +00002013-06-20T23:55:14.553-07:00Best Bicycle Picnic

Best Bicycle Picnic

Most men think winning a woman’s heart is hard work but it’s quite the opposite. It’s often the small details that are the ones that leave a lasting impression. Bicycle picnics are one of the most romantic and fun activities out there that allow you to spend quality time with your significant other. I know what you are thinking right now: I need a nice bike, blanket, food, etc. Those things are not as important as the picnic itself. An old blanket is all you might have. Or maybe all you can afford is Pringles and Spam but she’ll still appreciate that you took the time to plan it all out. Dial 1-800-411-PAIN if you suffer a bicycle accident in Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Gainesville, Ocala, Orlando, Tampa, Clearwater, Fort Myers, Naples, West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale or Miami.

Florida is great for picnics all year round. Its natural beauty and pristine beaches attract thousands of tourists every year. If you live in this beautiful state why not have a bicycle picnic? There is a whole list of nice parks where you can slowly ride your bicycle so that the time you are close to each other lasts a little longer, especially on first dates. It might be time for a picnic after all the extensive chatting and getting burnt by the sun during your bike ride!

There are a few things you should never forget when going on a picnic. Sure, spontaneity welcomes adventure, but it might not be a great idea if this is your first picnic. First, think about places you both enjoy. Don’t torture yourself and your date with a cloud of mosquitoes dancing under your picnic tree. Remember, perfume is not a repellent. The sweet scent of perfume actually attracts insects. It’s wise to check out the place not only virtually but also physically. Second, try keeping it simple: sandwiches are easy to prepare and lighter to carry. You don’t want her to think you are homeless when she sees that huge bag of food hanging on your bike. Think about games you can play together. Card games are the best. Finally, bring umbrellas and drinks. These two things are very essential in the sunshine state particularly during the rainy season.

Enjoy your picnic! And don’t get distracted on our busy roads. Contact 411-PAIN if you or a loved one has suffered injuries from a bicycle accident in the state of Florida. Bon appétit!

411 PAIN After the Crash: Dealing with Pain and Suffering

Pain and suffering damages are the mental and emotional distress caused by an accident. Chronic pain, physical or mental limitations and depressions are the most common pain and suffering damages. Victims are entitled to compensation under some circumstances. Insurance companies have various ways of calculating how much they will offer for pain and suffering. To successfully present your pain and suffering damages to the jury call <a href=" PAIN - car accident help.

Chronic pain often follows a crash. This type of pain is more likely to increase with age and it usually lasts three months or longer. People are more likely to suffer pain after a car crash than any other physically distressing event. About 84% of the people participating in a research in Scotland reported being in chronic pain due to a car crash. Other physical traumatic events did not cause as much pain.

Victims of car accidents are usually entitled to full compensation for his or her injuries and damages suffered at the hands of a wrongdoer. Courts and juries consider different factors before granting an award for pain and suffering. Some of the factors include: the severity of the injury, the kind of medical treatment received, complications due to the injury, time of recovery, permanent injuries or results, how the injury affects the victim’s life, and the mental and emotional response to the injury.

Pain and suffering may include broken bones and internal ruptures. Also the aches such as pain, temporary and permanent limitations on activity, potential shortening of life, depression and embarrassment from scarring. If you or someone you know is suffering physical and mental distress due to an injury sustained in an automobile accident in the state of Georgia dial 1-800-411-PAIN.
Reduced speed limits, especially during rush hour, are definitely not fun. Rush hours in south Florida, for instance, are generally 6-10am and 3-7pm. Traffic in Florida, unlike other states, is avoidable. There is a variety of traffic routes you can take to escape congestion at certain times. One thing hard to avoid is the school zone. It’s overwhelmingly everywhere in the early hours of the morning and mid afternoon. Driving 15 miles per hour is no joke but clearly a good way to avoid a $555.50 fine. If you have been pulled over and issued a ticket for an offense <a href=" PAIN can help.

The speed limit around most Florida school zones is 15 mph. Signs usually have flashing lights to show when the speed limit is in effect. There is also a sign to indicate when you have left the school zone. It makes sense lowering your speed around schools. Many kids and parents are crossing the street during this time and school buses enter and exit schools. Remember to stop when a school bus stops. The minimum fine for passing a school bus is $250. Other things that might happen if the offense is repeated are a 30 day license suspension and maximum of 6 months in jail.

A good way to avoid traffic jams in Florida or any other state is finding alternative routes. Look at least two ways to complete your commute. You may also want to play with your time. Talk to your boss, perhaps changing your work schedule might help. Check for traffic updates on the radio. GPS and Map Quest are a most. Some people find riding a motorcycle or bicycle a viable option to avoid congestion. Others simply move out to a less congested city but that could be quite expensive. Do what’s best for you and for your family.
411 PAIN - Driving in the wee hours

Driving in the dark might be very stressful for your eyes. Because colors tend to fade at night it’s very difficult reading warning signs. Except for urban roads, most roads don’t have sufficient light to illuminate these gloomy streets. It’s good to turn your car lights on before it’s completely dark. Many drivers make the mistake to wait for the street lights to turn on first. If you or a loved one is injured in a car accident when driving after dark, call 1-800-411-PAIN.

Your eyes need time to adjust to the dark roads and you pupils a few minutes to dilate. The more light the better vision you’ll have. The less light, the less you’ll see. Minimizing glare might be a great way to concentrate while driving in the late night hours. Some headlights can be quite annoying. Try avoiding them by looking to the bottom right of the road when they approach. It’ll take you time to recover from glare, especially the blinding type. Likewise, turn off any interior lights you might have on. These lights also make it extremely difficult to see.

Injuries from poor lighting are common in mountainous states such as Georgia, Minnesota, Tennessee and Texas. In the state of Georgia hilly cities such as Columbus, Blue Ridge Mountains, Macon and Providence usually have accidents due to poor lighting on the lonely roads. Pedestrians might also be hard to see when crossing these dusky streets. Try to approach pedestrian crossings with caution. When driving at night on lit roads switch your headlights to dip. Full beam headlights should be reserved for roads with some light or roads completely dark.
Crashes & Disasters in USA history

It doesn’t hurt to remember a few calamities impacting the history of our nation. We build a memorial every time we remember the innocent lives we lost in these devastating tragedies. Accidents and disasters are something we don’t want to deal with. If you need to fight a traffic ticket, call <a href=";.

Let’s start with the tornado outbreak of 2011. There were about 162 tornadoes affecting states such as Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Kentucky, Illinois, South Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and many others. This tornado was soon surpassed on April 27th by a much stronger outbreak of 358 tornadoes. As many as 348 people died in this disaster.

What about the aircraft accident of American Airlines flight 587? About 260 lives (all people on board) were lost that day. Although the cause of the crash is supposed to be mechanical some rumors are spread that it was a terrorist attack. The airplane had crashed in Belle Harbor, NY only a month after 9/11.

Deadly Katrina was another natural disaster causing about 1,833 deaths in 2005. I still remember being in shock as I watched the news: bodies floating lifeless on the water, homes destroyed, debris, and power lines lying on the ground like dried up veins disconnected from life. Katrina made landfall in Florida between Hallandale Beach and Aventura. I remember being without electricity for a whole week. Canned food and batteries were in high demand that week.

We can’t leave behind the tragedy of 9/11. How can we forget the 2996 people who died on that horrible day? Imagine waking up early in the morning to go to work and clocking in to soon realize your workplace it’s on fire and about to collapse. Life is taken abruptly from you and you can’t even tell the story. Out of the 4 passenger jets hijacked, two crashed into the World Trade Center, the other hit the pentagon and the last headed to Washington. Thanks to an act of heroism, the last didn’t succeed. It reminds me of the 1982 Air Florida Flight 90 crash originated in Washington and schedule to terminate in Fort Lauderdale, FL with a stopover in Tampa, FL. 78 lives that on that day.

Avoid car crashes. 411-PAIN advices you to drive safely!

2013/05/411-pain-crashes-disasters-in-usa.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (Anonymous)tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7182457920998602672.post-3433324451005323382Mon, 20 May 2013 02:18:00 +00002013-06-01T13:43:44.437-07:00Cars on Fire

Cars on Fire

Many factors contribute to car explosions or cars getting on fire. If a car gets hit on its gas tank or engine, a slight spark such as the rupture of batteries may cause a fire. Poor maintenance on your car or defects may also contribute to the fiery accident. Teens and young adults are more likely to be involved in these types of accidents, males usually more often than females. If you or a loved one has suffered serious injuries during a collision-induced car fire contact <a href=";.

Many times fuel system structural errors contribute to the malfunctioning fuel system in a car. Common defects include leaky fuel lines and improper protection of the fuel tank. Pull off the road if you smell gas. Leaking fuel will ignite with a fire. Sometimes replacing a gas cap it’s all you need but the problem might be more severe. Never restart your engine if you suspect there is a fuel leak in your car. Call a tow truck instead.

Automobiles have maintenance requirements. You can make your own check list: tires, oil, windows, brakes, fluids and everything else you can think of. Most engines are water-cooled. If your engine overheats you should wait until it cools down naturally. Try not to overfill your fuel tank. Fuel spillage might be very dangerous for other drivers, especially bikers. Remember after an accident, call 911 then 411 PAIN.

Teen drivers tend to disrespect the rules of the road more than adults. As more accidents arise, the need for education in the state of Florida increases too. The lack of driving experience, among other factors, is the common cause for these accidents. Male teens usually like to speed more than female teens. Contact 411-PAIN if you have been injured in a teen crash in Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Gainesville, Ocala, Orlando, Tampa, Clearwater, Fort Myers, Naples, West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale and Miami.
Vehicle Rollover Genesis

Vehicle rollovers are among the deadliest road accidents. There are many factors that might contribute to a rollover but the most common ones are aggressive driving, tire grip, over-correcting your vehicle, vehicle stability and carrying too much weight. If you have been injured in a vehicle rollover in the state of Florida, contact 1-800-411-PAIN. We have successfully represented hundreds of victims and obtained successful results in most of our serious vehicle rollover claims.

The most common cause of a vehicle rollover is aggressive driving, a driving hitting a tree, ditch, tree, guardrail or any other uneven ground. Rollovers are usually not caused by a steering maneuver. Vehicles usually trip on something before the rollover occurs. As much as 95% of rollovers result from trips. Tall vehicles such as SUVs, pickups and vans are more sensitive. The auto industry and government don’t want to assume responsibility for these huge-car fatalities therefore the blame usually goes on the driver and road conditions. Remember after an accident, call 911 then 411 PAIN.

Over-correcting your vehicle and tire grip might also contribute to a rollover. Tires in SUVs, for example, have less grip therefore the chance of rollover might increase. Make sure your tires are always inflated to the pressure recommended. Replace them when worn out. Balding tires are more prone to slide in the rain. Excessive steering or over-correcting might also contribute to the driver’s loss of control. Reducing speed might be safer than over-correcting. About 40% of rollovers involve excessive speeding.

Your vehicle’s lacking stability will also lead to a rollover. Millions of automobiles on the road don’t have Electronic Stability Control (ESC). This feature is necessary to guarantee the safety of your vehicle. If you or someone close to you has been injured due to lack of ESC, contact 411 PAIN. Carrying too much weight on top of your car might also increase the risk of rollover. Your vehicle might be weighted down affecting its stability.

Vehicle rollover accidents are the most dangerous type of accidents. They are more likely to occur in rural areas. These roads tend to be narrower leaving less margin for errors. Be alert and drive safely on these type of roads. Stay calm and call 1-800-411-PAIN .
Driving After the Storm

There are hundreds of hurricane-driving safety tips out there but very little or no information about how to drive after the storm. You will never see a bumper sticker that reads: How is my driving after the storm? Sadly, after having major storm insomnia your body begins to relax and trust your surroundings. Water begins to reside forming the annoying puddles which have the potential to damage your car. You might need to drive after a hurricane for safety issues or evacuation purposes. Be careful with downed power lines, fallen trees or any other blockages in the roads. If you suffer any injuries or damages while driving on the unsafe roads call 1-800-411-PAIN.

Exposure to water can harm your brakes. If rotors are hot they will definitely warp and your car will start vibrating. Also, only a small amount of water sneaking into the crevices of your engine can cause damage. The water gets into the cylinders where pistons compress the air. Water doesn’t compress, therefore piston rods will eventually bend to the amount of pressure. In other words, your engine is ruined.
Remember after an accident, call 911 then 411 PAIN.

Something else to think about when driving after a storm it’s power lines. High winds and flooding rain can often destroy them. When everything is wet around power lines even non-conductive materials such as pieces of wood become a path for electricity. Metal security fences, poles, mail boxes and even standing water can also serve as vehicles for electricity.

The state of Florida has the longest list of hurricane occurrences. Around 488 cyclones have affected the sunshine state. These nasty storms happen all year round except on January and February. Key West and Pensacola are the two cities with most occurrences in Florida. However, major hurricanes made landfall on cities such as Miami Beach, Jupiter, Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Naples, Panama City and countless others.

Drive safely after the storm. Avoid tree branches and liter as power lines often get entangled in these branches. If you are a victim of a car accident, make sure you contact 411 PAIN. 2013/05/driving-after-storm.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (Anonymous)tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7182457920998602672.post-3208065719101066800Tue, 07 May 2013 07:26:00 +00002013-06-01T13:45:54.967-07:00The Hangover: Driving After a Party

The Hangover: Driving After a Party

Most of us might not have a problem with a few drinks but the truth is many Americans over drink when going to a late night party. In the United States 21 is generally the legal age to purchase alcohol. It can’t be any lower than that... Any state that lowers the alcohol consumption age will lose 10% of federal highway funding, up to $150 million in funds for any single state. Remember after an accident, call 911 then 411 PAIN.

In the 1970’s states such as Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana and Tennessee lowered the level of alcohol consumption to 18 years old. It didn’t last long though and it went back to age 21 in the 1980’s. Underage consumption is allowed in some states under specified circumstances. About 9 States: Alabama, Arkansas, <a href=";, Idaho, Kentucky, Missouri, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and West Virginia have no exceptions on alcohol usage laws.

You might be responsible for drunk drivers if you serve alcohol at your social event. Call 411 PAIN if any of your guests is driving under the influence. You shouldn’t continue to serve a guest after they're visibly intoxicated. It means their physical coordination and judgment are impaired. A minor should not be served alcohol. The best alternative is to host the event at a restaurant or bar licensed to serve alcohol. You can provide everything except the drinks, have a limit on drinks or else measure the amount of alcohol put into punches and mixed drinks. You may also want to encourage your guests to assign drivers or call a red cap. A red cap is a personal driver designed to drive your car whenever you need it.

Speak to your guests before they leave the event and make sure everyone gets home safe. 411-PAIN wants you to have a safe and fun party! 2013/05/the-hangover-driving-after-party.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (Anonymous)tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7182457920998602672.post-8375305959672261870Thu, 02 May 2013 05:53:00 +00002013-05-01T22:53:23.583-07:00Famous Sun-shiners

RED MEANS STOP... GREEN MEANS GO

As young as kindergarten children are taught about traffic lights and its 3 signals.
Green means go, yellow means slow down, and red means stop. It's that part of
the concept that millions of drivers struggle with every year. Using elementary math
that adds up to millions of red-light running wrecks annually.

RED LIGHT ROULETTE

411 Pain calls this traffic hazard avoidable and recommends against taking the risk.
Drivers who play the game of red light roulette are not only gambling with their lives,
but also the lives of the public at large. The Federal Highway Administration
estimates half of the people killed in red-light running crashes are not the offenders
but innocent victims forced to share the roads with the dangerous drivers.

CAUGHT ON CAMERA

Florida is among half the states in the country implementing photo enforcement
technology to put the brakes on red-running and to slow speeders. The two violations
work hand in hand leaving us all vulnerable on roads where we have the right
to expect to ride safely. 411 Pain points out, while municipalities are spending millions
for "Caught on Camera' technology, the problem can be resolved without spending a penny.
If drivers could let their conscience be their guides and simply stop when they see red lights
or red octagon shaped stop signs.

THE TROUBLE WITH TECHNOLOGY

While red light camera and video technologies can prove to be a deterrent, they
also bring with them the potential for other serious motor vehicle accidents.
Fearing a pricey fine that can come with running a red light, many drivers stop abruptly
at noticing the cameras only to wind up a catalyst in a rear end crash.
411 Pain warns rear-end crashes, even at low speeds, can leave all involved with a range of
chronic and painful injuries. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety,
those injuries include brain insults, head and neck trauma, and spinal chord injury.
Newer model vehicles now come equipped with impact protections like head restraints and
airbags. The measures are preventative but failure to use them properly can leave drivers
and passengers vulnerable to serious injury or even death.

ARRIVE ALIVE

411 Pain's final recommendation, drive to arrive alive. 411 Pain Presents: The Truth About April Fool's Day

On April 1st, people traditionally play pranks and jokes on one another.
But why? When did this start and for what reason?

April Fool's Day is celebrated in England, France, Scotland and the USA. It began in England in the 1600s where an April Fool is called an April Noddy. In France it is the April Fish or poisson d'Avril. In Scotland, it is the April Gowk.

411 Pain found that one theory as to the origins of the holiday is the change to the Gregorian calendar that we use today. Under the old calendar, or Julian calendar, New Year's Day was celebrated at the Spring or Vernal Equinox at the end of March. Since this would sometimes coincide with Easter, the church changed New Year's to April 1st. In 1582 when the new calendar was adopted, some people would forget about the switch. Some people would pay their New Year's Day visits on the original day of April 1st knowingly and shout "April Fool" to those who forgot that this was not now the New Year!

To this day youn
