(Stefano C. Montesi)When Angelina Jolie first read author Alessandro Baricco's book Senza Sangue, it took her on a journey.Jolie assumed she knew what was going to happen at the novel's end. But as she kept reading, the actress, director and writer realized she had made the wrong assumptions about where the story was heading."Knowing all I knew about conflict or anger or what we do or revenge, I thought I knew where it was going. I thought I was quite sure where it was going," Jolie told ABC Audio. "More than that, I thought I knew where I wanted it to go."Not only is Jolie familiar with survivors of real-life conflict through her humanitarian work, she's also directed three films about war and conflict: In the Land of Blood and Honey, Unbroken and First They Killed My Father. She knows the expected story beats in projects like this. Most of the time it's either "you get the revenge or you don't" or "you get the resolution or you just don't," she said. But Baricco's novel does it all differently. Instead, it takes the two leads and has them sit across a table from each other and talk. They learn from each other's experiences and decide they don't actually want whatever revenge or resolution they thought they may have wanted prior."It matured me. It educated me to read the book," Jolie said. "I think it's an important thing to put out there today because there's so much about being absolute on this side or that side or right or wrong or for or against."Jolie hopes audiences learn through this story that it's OK to say "'I don't know' and 'I'm trying to listen' and 'I am trying to understand' and 'I'm still trying to figure out myself.'""For any person that's had any level of trauma or conflict, I think it's important to want to go more deeply and not just sit with being right," Jolie said. "It's an important discussion."Jolie adapted Baricco's book into the screenplay for Without Blood, the new film that is currently playing in select theaters. When it came time to choose who would take on the starring role, Jolie looked to her Eternals co-star Salma Hayek.Hayek said she and Jolie have "amazing creative teamwork" and that Jolie balances her out really well."I put this experience completely separate than any other experience I've ever had. It's just not even, I cannot even compare," Hayek said. "I've had other experiences that have been life-changing experiences in a different way, but this one has to do with the film because I had my judgment about what was happening and the book itself and the character itself. And throughout the process of making the film and being directed by her, I was so open."It wasn't simply that Jolie was "an amazing director," but Hayek said the film was a "very special experience" because of the knowledge Jolie has about the subject matter.Jolie "understands war like very few people, because she has been in those places of conflict. And she understands the big scope. And the intimacy of just being a human in conflict," Hayek said. "On top of it, she's also an actress, so she understands us like no one. It was just ... such a very special set of circumstances coming together that it's very hard for them to happen again." Copyright © 2026, ABC Audio. (Jason Kempin/Getty Images)Charles Kelley, the co-lead vocalist and founding member of the country music trio Lady A, has been diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer. In a video he shared on Instagram Tuesday alongside his wife, Cassie McConnell Kelley, the singer said he has multiple myeloma."Hey everybody, just wanted to give a quick update on some health issues I'm dealing with," he said. "I had this — a couple random rib fractures that happened, which sparked my doctor into having me do several different blood tests."Kelley continued, "And one of the blood tests we did, they found a blood cancer in there called multiple myeloma and it's rare."The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that multiple myeloma is a type of blood cancer where too many plasma cells crowd "out normal cells in the bone marrow that make red blood cells, platelets and other white blood cells."The CDC adds that it's the most common type of plasma cell tumor and develops in the bone marrow and can spread throughout the body. According to the agency, scientists are still unclear about why some people get myeloma and others don't, but age is the most significant risk factor.Men are also more likely than women to develop myeloma, according to the CDC.Despite the diagnosis, the "Need You Now" singer said he is hopeful."I'm young, I feel healthy, and the treatments, I will have to say, have just come so far, even in the past five years that, even a life expectancy is just far exceeds what it used to be," he said, adding that he has leaned on a friend of his who is also diagnosed with multiple myeloma. He talked about upcoming shows lined up with Lady A, including several Christmas shows. He also mentioned that he has the first six months of treatment but didn't specify when that will be. However, Kelley said that he doesn't believe that it will be "too super invasive.""I can still work," he said. "I think physically I will feel like myself. I'll have tough days, but you know, I wanna keep working. Even going out last weekend after even knowing the news, it was like this is where I belong."Kelley continued, "I need to be happy and doing what I love to do and spending and soaking up as much time with my family as I can as well. But I'm hopeful, I really am and we just want to let you all know and I'll try to let you in when I feel like it's appropriate throughout the journey and it's just another hurdle and you know I'm pretty confident that we're going to get through it."Previously, Kelley has been open about his sobriety journey. After starting recovery in August 2022, he has spoken in depth about the process with his fans."It helped me so much," he said. "I think in the same spirit of the way we've kind of shared a lot of my sobriety journey just getting this stuff off your chest is so freeing and it takes the power away from it a little but that we wanted to let you know what was going on."He added, "We're going to get through it. I think in sobriety, it's all about one day at a time and that we're not in control and so that's the way we're looking at it.In the comments section of Kelley's post, his fellow band members shared their support.Hillary Scott wrote, "The strongest duo right here! Love y'all so much! You've got this!"Dave Haywood added, "Covering you in prayer brother. Love y’all. We’re all here for you!"Copyright © 2026, ABC Audio. (David Becker/Getty Images for CinemaCon)After the expected close of the Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery merger, the company will take on a brand-new name.CEO David Ellison has revealed that the company will be known as Skydance. He made the announcement in a post shared to social media on Friday."What once was the peak, is now just the beginning. Paramount and Warner Bros. shaped over a century of culture. By combining them, we aren't rewriting history — we're equipping these iconic studios with a more powerful engine. Together, we are Skydance: a creative-first home for bold, quality storytelling," Ellison wrote. The $110 billion merger is expected to finalize on Tuesday. Ellison pursued the merger for approximately a year. Additionally, a two-month delay was caused by antitrust lawsuits from 12 states and the Writers Guild of America.Ellison explained why the name Skydance was chosen."First and foremost, as we bring Paramount and Warner Bros. together, we wanted to preserve what has made each of these studios iconic. Both have distinct identities, extraordinary legacies and brands that have resonated with audiences for generations. We never wanted a new corporate identity to diminish, alter or overshadow either one. Instead, we wanted a name that would give the combined company an identity of its own while allowing Paramount and Warner Bros. — and all our extraordinary brands — to remain in the spotlight," Ellison wrote. He continued by writing that he has big goals for Skydance and that he "intends to purse them with passion, imagination and a willingness to take smart risks.""At the same time, we will honor what makes Paramount and Warner Bros. special — giving both studios the opportunity to grow, tell more great stories and bring those stories to even broader audiences around the world, powered by the scale and capabilities of Skydance," Ellison wrote. Most of the time it's either "you get the revenge or you don't" or "you get the re

Following up on the success of the band’s previous radio singles, 2020’s “Sail the Silence” and 2021’s “Bring Me Back”, the band has several new releases slated for 2022, including the first single “Fear”, produced by Chris Dawson (SAUL, Any Given Sin, Lines Of Loyalty). It’s an anthem that reaches out to the heart of the listener with a rallying cry of both hope and strength. “Life has been very difficult recently for a lot of people,” said Rhodenizer. “Fear has been this massive weight that people need to shed as they return to ‘normal life’, and we want to be there singing this song with them as they do.” With a heavy slate of shows scheduled this summer, with bands including Badflower, 10 Years, Any Given Sin, and more, the band is happy that shows/tours have resumed to normal levels. “This gives us back the opportunity to share face-to-face the emotion that a song like “Fear” creates within our fans” added Rhodenizer. Last Friday, officers were called to a home on the 100 block of Arlington Avenue for a dog that died while living in deplorable conditions. Officers secured a search warrant at the home of 49-year-old Eric Dobson, and then went inside the home and found a German Sheppard that was so thin his backbone and rib cage were visible. Upstairs in the home was a dead dog that was malnourished and face was mangled. According to charging documents, the home was covered in feces, trash, and had no water for the dogs. Dobson told police that due to back taxes and nursing home bills he did not have the necessary time to care for the home and dogs. Dobson was charged with two counts of animal cruelty and is awaiting a preliminary hearing. The post Butler Man Facing Animal Cruelty Charges appeared first on ButlerRadio.com – Butler, PA. The Thursday evening meeting of the township’s planning commission was held in the maintenance building and attended by around 400 people. The meeting began with a presentation by the developers of the Misty Hollow Energy and Data Campus that included information such as a 274 acre site featuring a one million square foot natural gas powered data center. Although representatives have been reviewing property and requirements for three years, many elements of the plans still seemed to be undetermined including waste water, environmental impact, and final design. Township residents were then allowed to give public comment with the tone of 45 speakers overwhelmingly negative regarding the plans. Many expressed concerns that a large number of issues could not be clarified such as heat, noise and vibrations, air quality, and fire concerns. At the conclusion of the public comment, planning commission members voted to table their consideration of preliminary approval until the developer answers questions from a review letter by the township engineer. The meeting of the Forward Township Supervisors next week will not include this plan on the agenda with the next time it is expected to be considered at the next meeting of the planning commission on October 22nd. Jury selection will begin on November 16th and the expectations is 41-year-old Joshua Rivera’s trial will start in the afternoon on the 17th or in the morning on the 18th. But during a hearing yesterday, Rivera’s defense attorney Joseph Smith argued in court that due to a mailer that went out during District Attorney Rich Goldinger’s 2023 re-election bid might have poised potential jurors. The mailer sent out by Goldinger’s opponent in that race in an effort to damage Goldinger’s image included Rivera’s previous criminal record. Smith also floated the idea of potentially subpoenaing Goldinger’s opponent to get a better understanding of who in Butler County received the mailer. Smith argued a redacted version of the flyer be shown to potential jurors to see if they had received the flyer. But Assistant District Attorney Ben Simon argued this would intentionally poison a potential juror. Discussion was also held on the possibility on what would happen if not enough jurors would be available due to the Thanksgiving Holiday that leads into the end of week two of the trial. According to Simon 100 to 200 potential jurors will be called in an effort to secure the needed 12 jurors and 4 alternative jurors. Both attorneys agreed that if after Monday’s jury selection they believe they will be unable to secure enough jurors and alternatives a debate if the trial should move to another county will be held. If a jury can be selected, Simon said he would need three days to present the case, Smith would need one or two in defense, time has to be set aside for jury instructions and court clerical duties, then deliberation can begin. This would leave one to two days of deliberation. No decision was made on what would happen if deliberation expanded past the Thanksgiving holiday. No formal motion or request to sequester the jury was made during the hearing. In an effort to have the trial go as quickly as possible, the newly assigned Judge James Arner asked both the defense and prosecution to reach agreements on certain facts to avoid having to call every witness to the stand and avoid the rehashing of arguments. Both attorneys will need to file all final arguments or documentation by October 15th before another hearing is held before the trial. That hearing is expected to take place in late October or early November. The post Trial For Man Accused Of Killing Teen Set For November appeared first on ButlerRadio.com – Butler, PA. Auditor General Tim DeFoor released a report last month criticizing the aging department, saying vulnerable seniors fall through the cracks and the department is resistant to changes. At the Butler County Area Agency on Aging, Secretary Jason Kavulich said he is open to criticism and is always seeking to improve. “I don’t think trading barbs in helpful. What I think about is what are we going to do to get better results. We have the new CAPE system that is almost finished with its first iteration. The system is helping and there are improvements we need to make. But we need constructive and objective input to make those improvements,” Kavulich said. Kavulich was in Butler earlier this week hosting a round table discussing how the department can improve services, as well as discussing the CAPE system’s overhaul on how local Area Agency’s on Aging are evaluated. The Butler AAA received high grades in their first evaluation. The post Aging Secretary Responds To Critical Audit appeared first on ButlerRadio.com – Butler, PA.
