The Apple Dumpling Days is an annual festival, held the first Saturday after Labor Day, sponsored by the city of Elroy, Wisconsin. As part of the festivities, the Elroy Lions Club hosts the Elroy Apple Dumpling Day Races. The first races were held in 2007 with a 5K “Apple Dumpling Dash” and a single kid’s race. In 2008 a half marathon “Sliced Apple” was added and in 2013 a full marathon “Big Apple” was added. The 5K, half marathon and full marathon are all USATF certified. Elroy is the center of three abandoned railroad beds that have been converted into bike trails—Juneau County Omaha Trail, the Elroy-Sparta Bike Trail and the 400 State Trail. These trails are ideal for the Apple Dumpling Day Races. Amil’s Inn was privileged to have two guests that were Big Apple participants and two guests that were Sliced Apple participants. Also the Innkeeper and his son were Sliced Apple participants. For more information, visit the Apple Dumpling Day Races at www.appledumplingdayraces.com which was the source of this information. Amil’s Inn also had some special treats for the participants. Organic Valley of La Farge, Wisconsin donated some of their Organic Fuel for the racers. Organic Fuel is a nutritionally balanced, organic milk protein recovery shake. The shake is designed to benefit both endurance and strength athletes. Organic Fuel has an optimal mix of protein, carbohydrates and fats which help an athlete’s body restore glycogen levels while building and repairing muscle. All which help one’s body recover faster and feel less sore the next day. For more information about Organic Fuel and other Organic Valley products visit www.organicvalley.coop which was the source for the information about Organic Fuel. Summer weather is finally here and it should be safe to plant all those vegetables and flowers. This past week eight ladies from the Wisconsin/Minnesota made their annual trip to Amil’s Inn to greenhouse (hop) at 21 possible Amish greenhouses. It is so much fun to greenhouse (hop) when there are 5 greenhouses on one road! Each Amish greenhouse has their specialty with many plants, vegetables, herbs, seeds, perennials, planters, hanging baskets, trees and so much more. Amil’s Inn favorite greenhouse is M & M Greenhouse located at 27920 Newport Road, Cashton, WI 54619. The eight ladies favorite was Green Acres Greenhouse located at S1899 Sandhill Road, La Farge, WI 54639. Stay at Amil’s Inn and take a day trip to find all those vegetable plants and beautiful flowers that your home needs. It is so much fun. Remember to pack light so you have room for all the plants that you will be taking back to your home. We have the 2014 Amish Greenhouse map ready for you to plan your day’s travel. It is still not too late to plan your 2014 visit to an Amish greenhouse since they will have plants until they are all sold out. Selection may be limited but you will still get quality bedding plants at a good price. Remember they are always closed on Sunday. Hope to see you soon. There’s lots of other great lodging nearby though, visit our Dining in Wilton and Nearby post! The Kickapoo Valley is blessed with many great eating establishments. One of our favorite’s for pizza and ice cream is the Blue Goose Ice Cream and Pizza Parlor. Located about 12 miles from Amil’s Inn, it takes approximately 20 minutes driving through some of the most beautiful countryside of the upper Kickapoo Valley and Northern Driftless Wisconsin Area. Once you arrive you will be greeted by Gail and Bill Thomas who remodeled the barn on their property into “The Blue Goose”. You will also be greeted by many farm animals that live on the property as well. You may choose from a variety of pizzas such as Hog Heaven, The Giant German, The Super Blue Goose and a dozen or so more varieties. If you still have room, they serve specialty sundaes, ice cream cones, malts and shakes. They feature Cedar Crest ice cream fresh from the processing plant in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. After dinner you may enjoy Ma’s & Pa’s Toy Shed where a variety of childhood toys live. A vast amount of dolls, trains, dollhouses and trucks are also on display along with Elvis and Santa items. There is a small admission of: Adults–$3.00; Students–$1.50; Children under 6—Free (with a parent). New this year is the Haymow Flea Market located in the old loft of the remodeled barn. Hours of operation are: Thursday- Saturday, 12:00-8:00 P.M.; Sunday, 12:00-6:00 P.M. The Blue Goose is located at S2106 24 Valley Road (North of County Road P), La Farge WI 54639. It is highly recommended to call ahead for a reservation especially if a party of 6 or more (608) 625-4335. For more information visit their website at www.bluegoosepizza.com. After spending the day riding the Elroy-Sparta Bike Trail, canoeing the Kickapoo River or Amish shopping, the Blue Goose Ice Cream & Pizza Parlor will fill any appetite that was created The post The Blue Goose Located In The Northern Driftless Wisconsin Area appeared first on Amil's Inn LLC. ]]> 2014/04/29/the-blue-goose-located-in-the-northern-driftless-wisconsin-area/feed/ 0

Was it a personal expression of faith or a quiet protest? Let’s break down what the hat means, why it’s trending, and what fans — and critics — are saying. Xem bài viết này trên Instagram Bài viết do Christian Athletes(Chris✞hlete) (@_christhlete) chia sẻ What Does “Gen 9:12–16” Mean? The verse refers to Genesis 9:12–16, which recounts God’s covenant with Noah after the Great Flood. In that passage, the rainbow symbolizes God’s promise never to destroy the world with a flood again. It’s a powerful biblical image — and also, in modern times, a universal symbol of LGBTQ+ pride. So when Kershaw wrote that verse on his Pride-themed Dodgers cap, many saw it as reclaiming the rainbow for its original religious meaning. BREAKING: Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw wrote “Genesis 9:12-16” on his ‘pride’ hat. 12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: 13 I have set my bow in the cloud, and… pic.twitter.com/mPU94lYPxk — Leading Report (@LeadingReport) June 14, 2025 Mixed Reactions Online Supporters Say: Kershaw’s fans argue that this was a peaceful and respectful act of faith. It didn’t denounce Pride or LGBTQ+ individuals but simply reasserted his beliefs. “It’s a personal reminder of God’s promise.” “He still wore the rainbow hat, but added his own context. That’s called nuance.” Some Christian fans appreciated that Kershaw used his platform without stirring hate. Critics Respond: On Reddit and X, many saw it differently. A now-viral post in r/Dodgers sparked heated debates. One top comment read: “Wearing the hat says ‘I don’t mind gay people.’ Writing the verse says ‘but I don’t agree with their actions.’”Reddit source Others viewed it as a veiled message against Pride, arguing that mixing a religious rainbow with a queer symbol diluted the night’s intent. Why did Clayton Kershaw add a bible verse to his pride cap? byu/hoagmichael inDodgers Not the First Time: Kershaw’s Faith & Pride Night Back in 2023, Kershaw publicly opposed the Dodgers honoring the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence — a drag nun group many Christians find offensive. Afterward, he advocated for the team to bring back Christian Faith & Family Day. Kershaw emphasized he didn’t hate the LGBTQ+ community, but believed faith and respect for religious values were being sidelined. This year’s hat — with its biblical verse — seems to follow that same path: a quiet, visible stand rooted in personal belief, not overt protest. Final Thoughts: A Hat with Deep Symbolism Clayton Kershaw Genesis 9 12 16 Cap is more than a fashion statement — it’s a multi-layered message. Whether you see it as inspiring or divisive likely depends on your own beliefs. For some, it’s a symbol of religious conviction and quiet strength. For others, it represents an inappropriate interjection of faith into an inclusive celebration. But one thing is clear: Kershaw knows exactly what message he’s sending. And in today’s hyper-connected world, symbols — even small ones like a Bible verse on a baseball cap — carry massive weight. Get the Look: Shop Clayton Kershaw-Inspired Hats at Amoralia! Captured in vivid images across news outlets, the 69‑year‑old pontiff’s fan gesture sparked excitement from sports fans, media outlets, online communities, and even rival fanbases. Here’s why this viral moment transcends fashion and sports to become a cultural phenomenon. Pope Leo XIV Wearing White Sox Vatican Cap A Pontiff with Chicago Roots and South Side Pride Pope Leo XIV, formerly Robert Francis Prevost, was born in Dolton, a suburb of Chicago. His brother John Prevost confirmed his longstanding allegiance to the White Sox, dispelling rumors that he was a Cubs fan. The moment captured on camera during the Vatican audience confirmed what many already suspected: he’s a proud South Side supporter. Media outlets like Monday’s Fox Sports and Sports Illustrated confirmed that he wore the iconic black cap emblazoned with the White Sox “Sox” logo during the address  echoed the moment as a welcomed show of fandom. White Sox Nation Rejoices The White Sox organization was quick to celebrate their most high-profile fan. On June 11, their official X (formerly Twitter) account shared: Pope Leo XIV, a Chicago native, stuns in a White Sox cap. pic.twitter.com/AeSP4ZYEFQ — The Washington Post (@washingtonpost) June 11, 2025 Further demonstrating the newfound pope-team connection, the Sox recently unveiled a graphic mural at Guaranteed Rate Field, placed near Seat 2 of Section 140—the exact seat where Prevost sat during Game 1 of the 2005 World Series sweep over Houston. White Sox exec Brooks Boyer has extended a playful invitation for the pope to throw the ceremonial first pitch (or even take an at-bat!), an offer he joked might happen “when he’s in full vestments”  Ripples Beyond Baseball This moment resonated far beyond Chicago’s south side or baseball fans. New York Post highlighted the Pope as “Chicago’s hometown hero,” embracing both local identity and global curiosity. CBS Sports noted that the Vatican formerly used this platform to connect with global audiences—now enriched by a loved hometown image . Even Cubs fans appreciated the moment, with Vanity Fair noting the unity during a heated Cubs–Sox rivalry. Moreover, The Washington Post and viral meme pages spotlighted how this lighthearted twist humanized papal tradition, sparking pop‑culture buzz and memes across social platforms  The Stats Story: Sox Performing Better with Papal Support? Interestingly, the Sox’s on‑field performance has seen a surprising bump during Pope Leo XIV’s tenure. Before his election on May 8, the team posted a dismal 10–28 record. Since then, they’ve improved to around 13–17, a stretch some are jokingly calling “divine intervention”. While no causal link obviously exists, this statistic has fueled playful narratives, especially among fans hopeful of celestial advantages. What It All Means Why does this viral moment matter? A Symbol of HumilityThe Pope—leader of 1.3 billion Catholics worldwide—chose fandom over formality. A baseball cap rather than papal headgear humanized him in a global media moment. Civic and Cultural ConnectionAs the first American pope, Leo XIV bridges religious authority with everyday American culture—highlighting civic pride, local roots, and urban heritage. Global Media MagnetThe story dominated sports and general news: Fox Sports, CBS Sports, Sports Illustrated, and even New York Post and Vanity Fair picked it up, showing its wide resonance across audiences . What’s Next: Papal Pitch at Guaranteed Rate Field? Mark your calendars for June 14, when the Archdiocese of Chicago hosts a celebration for Pope Leo XIV at Guaranteed Rate Field. Though he won’t be physically present, he’ll speak via video and—who knows—there might even be talk of a visit involving that iconic hat and a ceremonial pitch. Former U.S. President Donald Trump and billionaire tech mogul Elon Musk have turned on each other in a public feud that’s gone viral across platforms like X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, and Reddit. The Elon Musk vs. Donald Trump conflict has become a full-on war, but remember, when billionaires fight online, just remember there’s always a business behind it. Elon and Trump fighting is like WWE for the rich scripted, strategic, and sells merchandise.#ElonMusk #DonaldTrump pic.twitter.com/91e2yNBBqm — Hemant Batra (@hemantbatra0) June 5, 2025 From Power Duo to Public Enemies Trump vs. Musk were once close allies. Musk donated over $290 million to Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign via America PAC and even served as a senior advisor in Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), created to streamline federal spending. But that alliance began to unravel this week when Trump proposed the “Big Beautiful Bill” (BBB), a sweeping spending plan that would gut renewable energy and healthcare programs in favor of defense budgets and tax cuts for the wealthy. Musk didn’t hold back. He called the bill “disgusting,” claiming it would add $3.8 trillion to the national debt while slashing innovation and public support programs. His posts ignited a political firestorm—and Trump fired back almost instantly. A Social Media Meltdown In less than 12 hours, Musk published more than 20 critical posts on X, calling out Trump for “betraying American innovation” and even suggesting that the only reason Trump won in 2024 was “because I backed him financially and digitally.” Trump responded with a scorched-earth statement on Truth Social, expressing his “great disappointment” in Musk and implying that Musk’s criticism was just about losing government EV subsidies. Musk shot back, saying, “I don’t need subsidies to be relevant—I’m the one building the future.” He even hinted that Trump had ties to the Epstein scandal and called for impeachment proceedings. The Economic Fallout Beyond the political drama, the economic consequences have been swift and brutal. Trump reportedly instructed federal agencies to begin reviewing—and potentially canceling—contracts with Musk-led companies including Tesla and SpaceX. These deals are worth tens of billions in government funding. In response, Musk hinted that he could pause NASA’s access to SpaceX’s Dragon launches. That could throw America’s space program into disarray and leave the U.S. temporarily dependent on international partners. Tesla stock fell 14% in a single day, as investors began fearing regulatory retaliation and disruption to federal EV incentives. Is Reconciliation Still Possible? White House aides have reportedly scheduled a private call between Trump and Musk for June 6 in an attempt to ease tensions. But insiders suggest that the relationship is likely beyond repair. As of now, Musk shows no sign of backing down, and Trump has already begun fundraising off the fight, painting Musk as “a tech tyrant who thinks he’s above the Constitution.” When Power Collides The Trump vs. Musk fallout isn’t just celebrity gossip—it’s a high-stakes collision between two of the most powerful egos in America. What happens next could reshape the country’s political and technological landscape. From billion-dollar contracts to the future of space exploration, this feud is far from over. During his time at Villanova, he immersed himself in Augustinian teachings, studied languages like Hebrew and Latin, and even worked as a cemetery groundskeeper in Havertown, Pennsylvania. His academic and spiritual journey at Villanova laid the foundation for his future roles within the Catholic Church The Iconic Hat Moment On June 4, 2025, during a meeting with the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) at the Vatican, Pope Leo XIV was presented with a white Villanova baseball cap featuring the university’s signature blue “V.” With a smile, he briefly swapped his traditional zucchetto for the cap, delighting attendees and sparking a flurry of excitement across social media platforms. The cap, identified as a version of the ’47 Brand adjustable hat, is available for purchase on Villanova’s official bookstore website for $16.00. Embracing Heritage and Faith During the NIAF event, Pope Leo XIV addressed the attendees, emphasizing the importance of preserving Italian-American culture and faith traditions. He remarked, “A hallmark of many who emigrated to the United States from Italy was their Catholic faith… This faith sustained them in difficult moments, even as they arrived with a sense of hope for a prosperous future in their new country.” His words underscored the deep connection between cultural heritage and spiritual identity, resonating with many in the Italian-American community. Villanova’s Pride and Joy Villanova University has been abuzz with pride since the election of Pope Leo XIV. The campus community celebrated the historic moment with events, social media tributes, and even themed gatherings. Father Peter Donohue, the university president, expressed his astonishment and joy, noting the pope’s embodiment of Villanova’s Augustinian values: truth, unity, and love. The university anticipates a surge in interest and applications, reminiscent of the 22% increase following its 2016 NCAA basketball championship.
