2019-20 WHL First Month Recap
Fri, 18 Oct 2019 02:01:14 +0000
With a month in the books of the WHL season, Andy, Carl and Ryan are back with the latest in the WHL! Prince Albert remains atop the Eastern division again/still. How are they doing it? With the season underway, some trades have already happened, with Cole Fonstad off to Everett and Ryan Hughes off to Kamloops. What made them expendable? The Central division features goals by Medicine Hat, depth by Edmonton and an injured Calgary squad that's still getting by. Where will the dust settle here? The Vancouver Giants have a slow start and a problem of too many overaged players. Who will be the odd one out? Meanwhile, youth is ruling in the US division. Kirby Dach is currently not back with Saskatoon, but will he be returning soon? All this and more on The 4th Line WHL Cast #16! The 4th Line WHL Cast #5 - The Memorial Cup Preview Congratulations to the Swift Current Broncos on winning the WHL Championship! Andy, Carl and Ryan are back to review the WHL final between the Swift Current Broncos and the Everett Silvertips. What was it that Swift Current had that Everett didn't? (Aside from goals) Swift Current joins host city Regina as two of the four Memorial Cup teams come from the WHL. What can the WHL teams expect to face in the Mem Cup and what are the chances that they can win? The WHL Bantam Draft took place and a trend continues of players looking outside of the WHL for places to play. Why is this and should something be done to make the WHL more enticing? As the WHL turns to the offseason, which coaches could be on the move to new jobs, and who could replace them? The 4th Line WHL Cast #4 - The WHL Championship
Thu, 03 May 2018 01:32:49 +0000
With the WHL Championship about to start Andy, Carl and Ryan are back with a preview! But first, Andy has good news about a scary situation that happened to him after game 6 in Tri-City. We're thankful that everyone is healing up after the accident! The Everett Silvertips and Swift Current Broncos are ready for the WHL finals, but first we take a look at how they got there. Swift Current had tough matchups the first 2 rounds, facing Regina and Moose Jaw and each series going 7 games, while Everett won each of their first two series in 5 games. In the third round, Carter Hart stumbled for Everett, while Swift Current used their depth to beat the Lethbridge Hurricanes, leading us to the finals. With the obvious Carter Hart/Stuart Skinner matchup in net, which goaltender is likely to have the best series? Outside of the net, does Everett has what it takes to beat the depth of Swift Current? The WHL Bantam Draft is this week. Outside of the great names being drafted, what else can be expected from the teams that loaded up on draft picks at the trade deadline. We'll all find out Thursday! You can find Andy on Twitter at @AndyEide and Ryan at @RyanNPike.
