It seems I actually had more innocent wisdom as a younger man than once I become a sexually active adult in other words (my first marriage). What revelations were yet to come, like dealing in the real world and realizing how much was either lies or friendly faces that should never have been trusted! It’s rather amazing once you’ve awoken from your naivety and realize things are just not what they seem!Let’s all take a trip down Bullshit Lane. It’s the arrival at a trek of understanding how the real world revolves and it doesn’t revolve around you, no matter how much you want it to! And, some people live that way their whole lives such species we know as spoiled princesses, narcissists, ego maniacs, self-important executives who like to push their weight around, did I miss anybody besides the psychopaths, and control freaks? But, let me say that it is very humbling to see those who give of themselves so completely to save the lives of others or comfort those who need it.The pitfalls of believing in advertising is amazingly abundant even in a society where supposedly we are protected from false guarantees, false election campaign propaganda, or warranties that are supposed to be honored. Without the threat of government regulation and prosecution we would see none of it and yet, still government refuses to prosecute in favor of the consumer and, as a matter of fact, that very government supposedly by and for the people even becomes the enemy of the people and begins the gradual process of robbing them of their freedoms and taking away their privacy! Now how did that happen? When do people learn that the atrocities of the past are easily repeated when we choose to ignore those lessons! But, far be it from me to point out the obvious truth that today is routinely ignored.Let’s begin with our mainstream media, you know, the vaunted free press we are supposedly guaranteed as our Constitutional Right? How could I have been so stupid? When in reality we get, not the facts objectively reported, but leftist editorializing presented to us as the God’s truth, an agenda that is often anti-American, pro-illegal aliens, with a faux morality that favors Americans losing their tax dollars to causes no American would knowingly fund like say, transgender parties in Pakistan, Democrat cronies being able to buy mansions of their own through NGO’s that are never investigated, Act On recipients of millions of dollars in taxpayer money for non-existent charities that funnel that money into Democrat slush funding! USAID 100’s of billions that allow illegals food, housing, education, and medical treatment causing such steep deficits that the US dollar was devalued by 26% in less than 4 years under the Biden Clown Show! And here’s the worst part-the low information voters that continue to vote for this insanity! Now here’s another illusion! That the convicted thieves sitting in Congress or the Senate that caught red handed never seem to serve jail time, while you and I would be in the slammer for years to come and paying fines on top of that! What a deal huh? But, you see, we are expected to swallow the lies, the illusion of law and order, and the lack of accountability hook line and sinker that a bunch of dumb fish! And this while the cost of living sky rockets thanks to all the theft of government fiscal irresponsibility. This, we are told by the mainstream media, our public servants in office, and our corporate officials is all on the level and our best interests are being looked after. This is the grandest illusion ever perpetrated upon the American people and the nations of the west that has been busy slapping us in the face with insults to our intelligence for decades! And then you might just ask, how do we vote our way out of this mess? If there is no integrity in the voting system and electronic voting tabulators made by Smartmatic and Dominion are found to be cheating while ballot harvesting and fake voter ID’s also tip the results in elections-what do we do? Well, when President Trump, the man hated by the Democrats who don’t want to see any of the abovementioned corruption remedied and done away with, tries to get the “Save America Act” passed that would guarantee fair elections, our Senate refuses to pass the measure with enough votes! Why, if there’s nothing to see here? Let us recall, President Trump in his own words, “The system is rigged!” Oh, and remember for that they tried to assassinate him!The illusion has now become an evil reality that stares right back at us from the mirror and we come to the realization that when the voters refuse to participate in the elections, when we actually believe the lies of a mass media that has been invested in by our enemies through stocks, and when our own supposedly elected officials fail to vote on cleaning up the system, what is the alternative? Protests? Rioting? Civil War? What do we do to preserve the civil society when even our corporate retailers would rather sell cheaper US gas to foreign nations who will pay higher prices than take care of the American consumer who made their businesses and fat profits for them to begin with? How many different ways can we get stabbed in the back?I once heard an excellent meme from a landlord who had rented a vacation cottage to my ex and myself. She was staying in Jamaica at a rental property with a separate bathroom and shower and she got up in the middle of the night to use the toilet. When she flicked on the light she saw that the walls were covered with cock roaches! Epiphanies are like that. Once you see the cock roaches you can never unsee them because even when you turn the lights off they’re still there, and when you see behind the façade you cannot ignore the corruption. So, is it the sadness of realization, or is it the ignorance of bliss? Make your choice! See More]]> Thu, 15 Oct 2026 19:20:31 +0000 1191221918 Doc Vega posted a blog post Doc Vega posted a blog postWhy Was the Movie “The Bedford Incident” Such a Threat? With wars looming in the Middle East and Vladimir Putin making more threats of using nuclear weapons should NATO countries continue to escalate their proxy participation in supplying Ukraine, the movie, “The Bedford Incident” becomes even more realistic and timeless than we might think, but in 1965 in the midst of the “Cold War” the movie not only freaked out audiences, but neither the US Navy nor the Pentagon would approve of this cinematic warning.Starring Richard Widmark as captain of the nuclear destroyer, the Bedford, and Sidney Portiere as an embedded journalist, the story becomes intense very quickly. The fact that the described scenario was not some made up plot just to provoke undue paranoia but was a typical case of routine patrol and enemy sub hunting tactics! The Bedford is under NATO command as it patrols the north Atlantic through iceberg laden waters in the vicinity of the Arctic Circle. Captain Finlander, played by Richard Widmark has a reputation for pursuit of enemy subs and near Cuba, she shadowed one of the Soviet diesel driven submarines until he forced them to surface after running over the snorkel the crew needed to breath with. Now, the obsessive captain sees another opportunity to snare another Soviet sub that they’ve discovered has nukes!Mister Munson, played by Sydney Portiere, the onboard journalist senses that the captain is one hard driving and obsessive skipper who will stop at nothing to achieve his goal. That goal is to paralyze and force Soviets to surface their subs wherever they violate NATO allied waters. But, there’s a problem with this genius US Naval officer was in line to become admiral but was passed over, and Mister Munson wants to know why. Aboard the ship is a Navy Medical Officer played by Martin Balsam, a former German U-Boat commander, Eric Portman, as a Commodore acting as an adviser, and a young maritime biologist aboard the Bedford by the name of Donald Sutherland. This all-star cast of supporting actors serve to solidify the believability of the script. At the time of the movie, all Soviet submarines, even those with nuclear weapons, were driven by diesel fueled engines and had to rely on snorkels that could be spotted on the surface when the underwater vessel was submerged but needed air for the crew. If they could be shadowed long enough by a destroyer even ramming their snorkel, the crew would be forced to surface! Captain Finlander (Richard Widmark) will push his crew and himself beyond d their limits while starting a 24 hour timer on the bridge of the ship that will reveal just how long he has kept the Soviet sub under the waves and eventually starving for air! Martin Balsam, the ship’s doctor, informs the captain that he’s driving his men too hard, and is severely reprimanded by Finlander who has read his file, knows of his numerous divorces, and his need to return to active duty as a result, humiliating his ship’s doctor. The Captain does this to anyone unlucky enough to meet his disapproval!During the course of the mission one of his bridge officers, a young Ensign Ralston, played by James MacArthur, is pressured and ridden by Captain Finlander throughout the mission which causes the executive officer to confront the captain in order to lighten up on the young crewman. Whenever confronted with his own bluff, Finlander tends to soften up and back off with a subtle warning. As for Mister Munson, the journalist, the relationship becomes antagonistic as the captain is obsessive about secretive areas of the ship that Sydney Portiere’s character does not have authorization for. Mister Munson calls out the captain on several occasions about his tactics and dangerous provocation of the enemy! The tension increases with the crew under full time alert. A sonar technician man, Wally Cox, normally rock solid man that the captain relies on as his go to specialist succumbs to a nervous breakdown and has to be replaced as he is relieved to sick bay! The hours and minutes tick away as the Captain determinedly shadows and hunts down the Soviet sub but exhausts his crew while doing it! Sydney Portiere’s character sees the signs all around him of a destroyer personnel who are being driven to a fever’s pitch. Then, the clock shows 14 hours have elapsed but they have lost the Soviet sub in the clutter of icebergs. The captain consults with his former U-Boat onboard consultant who advises him to let the Soviet crew go, after all he is the hunter, but it may be time to let go!After receiving order confirmation by NATO command to take action according to his own discretion, the Captain orders weapons ready once the snorkel of the Soviet sub is spotted on the surface, but they had departed from the water they violated and are about to get away. Young Ensign Ralston who has activated the anti-missile weapons controls becomes the tragic weak link in the chain of command ridden into submission and all too willing to keep from making another mistake, but over hearing the captain who is speaking to Mister Munson and another officer, he launches the deadly anti-ship missile! Captain Finlander shoves the Ensign Ralston out of the way and pulls the de-arming switch to try and stop the missile, but it’s too late. The ordnance does its job and the Soviet sub is destroyed with the crew momentarily applauding the successful kill, but there’s a problem. The sonar man who replaced Wally Cox’s character picks up a contact at 1500 yards and closing! The Naval sonar technician is tracking a Soviet nuclear torpedo that was launched just before they were destroyed and it’s on the way. Captain Eric Finlander orders typical counter measures, “Right full rudder, all ahead flank!” he then leaves the bridge ominously with the look of a doomed man on his face realizing his actions have led to what comes next, all the while pursued by Sydney Portiere’s journalist character demanding, “What’s next? What the hell do we do now?”Ominously Mister Munson’s desperate inquiry is answered by a steaming mushroom cloud in the North Atlantic! A full nuclear detonation vaporizes the USS Bedford and its crew! The culmination of a deadly duel in the tensions of the Cold War between a compulsive Captain and his opponent, a Soviet nuclear sub crew, has ended in mutually assured destruction! The audience who watched this story of potential annhilation see the ultimate end game of an arm’s race that threatens the extinction of the human race being played real time all across the globe! The grim realization was undeniable! The US Navy refused to back the movie and even lend the actual bridge of any US warship to the film crew adding that to depict any US Naval officer in such a mentally distraught state leading to a disaster could not be supported! Instead of the supposed location of the incident occurring at the Denmark Straight, most of the filming occurred in warm Caribbean waters onboard a British warships.Filming Ships & Location DetailsExterior ship: HMS Wakeful (F159) provided the opening and exterior shots standing in for the USS Bedford.Interior ship: HMS Troubridge was used for below-decks and interior corridor scenes (leaving British equipment like Lee-Enfield rifles visible).Studio & Models: Additional scenes and a large model of the ship were filmed in a water tank at Shepperton Studios in the UK and Malta Film Studios.Fictional setting (waters): The plot takes place in the North Atlantic Ocean, specifically in the Denmark Strait between Greenland and Iceland. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]. Courtesy IMBD. In all likelihood, was this a realistic scenario? Yes! Over the frightening atmosphere of the Cold War, Us reconnaissance planes were shot down by Soviet fighter jets while a cat and mouse game between the US and Russian surface fleets and American nuclear submarines was constantly at play. The Russian Kursk and the USS Scorpion were both sunk under questionable circumstances, and today with the Iran conflict, the ongoing 4 year war between Ukraine and Russia, threats of tactical nukes have been made by Putin’s generals! See More]]> Wed, 14 Oct 2026 19:07:05 +0000 1191209948 Doc Vega posted a blog post Doc Vega posted a blog postHaven't Always Agreed With Him But Bill Maher Get's It Right!See More]]> Tue, 13 Oct 2026 07:23:12 +0000

It was a pale doll with darkened eyes. It was attempting to be a darling little girl partially wrapped in a shawl. In a way he was reminded of the little girl in a tragic Christmas story who burned matches on a cold winter’s night as she stared into a store front window for gifts she would never live to receive. Lionel was tired of walking side by side with loneliness. His family gone, wife dead of tuberculosis, and all after 25 years of loyal service to Her Royal Majesty’s Army. He’d retired with a pension good enough to live on and at 49 years of age, he still had a life left to live, but for whom and what?He touched the porcelain figure that seemed strangely life-like among the tables of other statuettes, trinkets, and simple gifts, lost in his typically reminiscent thoughts when a short, brown skinned man approached him. He seemed humble enough, his hands folded together, his robe typically pastel colored, and his black mustache that was pursed into a smile. “May I be of help Offendi?”Lionel Eldridge emerged from his inner thoughts and glanced at the small man, “I was merely intrigued by this lonely little girl. Who does this doll represent?”“In the customs of my people such dolls are spiritual entities of sorts there to address matters of one’s own state of the soul. She can be a companion with which to fight loneliness. She can merge with your soul as you dream and talk with you about your innermost struggles. She can be the partner from another world never meant to be in this dimension which you occupy.”“So, what’s the point, old man, having a companion that only exists in another realm?” Lionel frowned.“In my culture, these dolls might become surrogates for remedying the grief of a mother who lost a child, a father who has no family left, or of one who desires a lover, but remains alone against his or her will,” the unusual little man explained.“How odd,” the former major replied.“Is it no coincidence that you were drawn to this figurine for some reason you may not completely understand yet?” He smiled humbly.Willing to explore the unusual avenue of the foreign and unexplained, Lionel made a decision,” I think I’ll take it,” he sighed resolutely.“I think you will find this to be fascinating, Offendi. Shall I wrap this for you?”“Yes, of course,” Lionel nodded nervously as if he were embarrassed to have made such an impulsive decision.Lionel glanced at the hand written receipt with the words, “All sales Final” on it. In other words, no refund! He thought that to be odd, “Why the all sales final, on the ticket?”“Oh, Offendi, this is a custom of my people. Once such a doll is exchanged, it can never be returned to the giver.”“I see,” Lionel frowned as he turned to leave.“Oh, and Offendi, make sure that if you ever give this doll away, that you never take it back.”“Why?”“It is considered to be bad luck to the giver,” the Indian merchant smiled nervously and bowed. It was late afternoon and the winter sun was quickly descending into the London skyline. Lionel unlocked his door and strolled tiredly into his flat. His place seemed sad and overlooked by the rest of the world. Dreary furniture, aging framed paintings hung on the walls, mementos of a happier past that seemed somehow irrelevant in the present. He glanced around to make sure everything was normal, lit the fire beneath the burner of a now cold stew left over from earlier this morning, and unwrapped the unusual figure he had been foolishly fascinated over, thinking it would soon be among his collection of forgotten collectibles, but instead he sat down with it and stared into its intriguingly beautiful yet ominous face. “Perhaps you’re as lonely as I.” he murmured and sat it next to the end table alongside his bed.Lionel went to stir his beef and vegetable stew to savor before he got ready for bed. He had fought in many places defending the colonies of the crown from Burma to India, from the Caribbean to Eastern Europe. He had seen many men die, lost many dear friends, and spent long periods away from the woman he longed to share the rest of his life with, but even there, once it was all over, fate had cheated him when his wife contracted TB. It was as though everything and everyone he valued had been robbed from his life. His daughter lived another life somewhere across the world and never approved of the life he had committed himself to as did his son. Curious how the very ones you love simply slipped away in the course of life, he sadly concluded. He sat at the edge of his bed oblivious to the smell of sheets that could have used a freshening up and held the doll in his hands once more before retiring to the land of dreams. What a ridiculous substitute for companionship, he concluded as he gazed at her and then set her back down onto the end table next to the lamp. Lionel exhaustedly plunged into a deep dark crevice of dreamland, hopelessly lost in a death-like sleep. Yet, a strange thing happened. Before him a beautiful young lady with a shawl barely wrapped around her. Her white shoulders and slender arms visible. She stared hypnotically into his eyes and then dropped the shawl revealing her angelic figure! She held his face in her hands along with his unwavering attention and undressed him. There they made passionate love until he awoke gasping for breath with beads of sweat on his brow and a moist chest as though he had actually been in the act!The retired major glanced to his left and looked into the face of the doll and thought that it was actually watching him! That startled him! He then glanced again and the doll had reverted back to what it was supposed to be! He breathed deeply to calm himself down! There was simply no logical explanation for this! He had just made love in another dimension to the spirit of this doll? Was that it? Was this what the funny little shop owner had been trying to explain to him? He got up slowly, walked to the kitchen, and reached up into a cupboard producing a bottle of brandy. He poured himself a couple of drinks, gulping down and savoring the warmth of the liquor while trying to make sense of it all.The next day, Lionel stopped by the local “caff”. It was the “Piccadilly Eatery” and grabbed a corner table among those who were indulging in tea and crumpets, perhaps fish and chips, or shepherd’s pie, and glanced at the menu. Ann, a young widow, attractive yet shy, had arrived, but had to search for a table being that the lunch hour was in full swing and the buzz of patrons talking amongst themselves made it even more intimidating, when she spotted a single chair unoccupied. She nervously approached unsure of herself. “Sir, I hate to intrude, but is this seat taken?”“Why not at all,” Lionel stood and pulled the chair backward to help her sit down.“I’m so sorry. It’s just that I couldn’t find anything else available,” Ann apologized.“Don’t even mention it. You are welcome Dear lady,” Lionel smiled.“I am famished,” Ann explained. “I picked a bad time to be searching for a place to eat.”The two made some small talk as Ann awaited her chicken salad sandwich order while Lionel ordered clam chowder and crackers. It seemed they both enjoyed each other’s company. Ann explained that she owned a small dress shop and worked as a seamstress there after the untimely death of her husband and sudden rejection by his family that left her with little money to start a business. It seemed they had much in common. Before they both knew it 2 hours had flown by with Lionel asking her if she ever did tailoring or repair for men and she said yes! “Well, how convenient,” Lionel grinned. “I shall bring a couple items of mine that could use repair.”“I would be honored,” Ann smiled delighted to be able to see him again. When the waitress came with their tickets, Lionel snatched Ann’s bill from the table, “Allow me, Dear!”“Oh, I can’t let you do that,” Ann blushed.“Don’t worry, I shall expect the finest quality of work from you then,” Lionel smiled amiably.“Forgive me, Sir, but I’m not accustomed to such generosity,” Ann blushingly explained. “I must say though that I feel that I’ve known you for a long time.”“You have, you have!” Lionel assured her. “How about I stop by tomorrow late morning. Would that be convenient?”“I will make a special arrangement to accommodate you then and there, besides many of my customers who drop there items off will wait weeks before returning.”This told Lionel that the poor young lady was often pressed for cash flow. When he got home he quickly went about gathering several of his jackets and slacks that he would see that she could make money working on no matter if they needed work or not. He’d make sure that she made some money!”Was this doll a good luck charm or what or what? Lionel thought as he climbed into his bed and glancing at the doll, clicked off his lamp, and plunged into the dark waters of dream land once again! As he slept he felt the warmth and smooth skin of a young body climbing on top of his. He felt the sensation of warm kisses, a tongue in his ear, and the gentle bite upon his neck, and he was aroused as the two intertwined and made love in the privacy of his dreams once again. He writhed in his bed sheets and passionately wrestling with the youthful body that sent chills into his erotic senses. Once again, Lionel awoke breathless and spent as though he had just reached the climax of his life! This was uncanny! How could this have been possible, he thought as he lay wide awake and glanced over at the nymph sitting on his end table. Was this satanical, a blessing, or the work of his lonely imagination?Over the next few days the intensity of Lionel’s interest in Ann continued and the two of them had made time to share lunches together. Lionel could tell Ann was most likely 29 to 32 years of age, in his estimation not too young for him if she were interested in romance. Ann found Lionel to be a true gentlemen unlike younger men, brash, pushy, and bad listeners. Lionel was patient, and attentive, this she found refreshing, and he hadn’t even made a move on her yet which she was surprised over, but she wanted this to take time anyway. He had mentioned being in the military but hadn’t used that as a demonstration of his manhood or as a bragging right. As a matter of fact, she had no idea the kind of action he had seen, and didn’t know how badly he was trying to distance himself from it. All in all, the two seemed a good match for each other. Lionel was not too old for her at all, she felt safe in his presence. He exuded a quiet and unassuming confidence that she could feel.Again, Lionel came home alone and back to the familiarity of his quiet isolationistic existence but for this bewitching doll that he knew would enchant his dreams once again. In a very strange way, Lionel felt like somehow he was committing unfaithfulness for some uncanny reason that defied all logic. Never the less, Ann was the best thing that had happened to his waking existence in years and when the question of her coming over to his place to spend some time, Lionel welcomed the opportunity, but first he had to do some major cleaning up as he didn’t want to seem like a typical sloppy bachelor. So, he made up an excuse to delay her from coming over until he’d had a couple days to do come cleaning and organizing especially washing his bedding!Once again after an exhausting day of house cleaning, Lionel rewarded himself with some brandy and after a phone conversation with Ann, got ready for bed. The only thing he hadn’t cleaned, organized or hidden, was the doll that seemed to be glaring at him from time to time. He chalked that up to his imagination, but little did Lionel know that it wasn’t just his imagination. The doll was becoming more and more part of him and his life, and it sensed something too, that this young porcelain skinned beauty that only existed in the sleep realm could not compete with-the physical realm that Lionel dealt with during the day and the majority of his time. That night as Lionel slept there came the presence of his dream lover caressing him, kissing every inch of his body, until he was aroused. Once again the two spirits were entwined as one making love with more intensity than ever before, but with a twist! Lionel blurted the name “Ann”. This shocked the dreamy enchantress! Suddenly she realized that there was another woman only in the worst possible way, in the physical reality, the real world, that Lionel occupied each and every day! This could not be! This would have to stop somehow and some way! She could not be allowed, whoever this Ann was, to take her place!Friday night was the big night that Ann was going to come over. Lionel had taken it upon himself to buy Riesling White German wine to go along with the baked smothered chicken recipe he had done some recipe research on. Now it was already, the chicken dish was perfectly done, the yeast rolls were ready to be popped into the oven, and the white wine was chilled. Ann was special. He knew this. She wasn’t some frivolous tart who took nothing in life seriously and lived by the seat of her pants like most younger women, as he saw them. She had class. He could feel his heart pounding when he heard the knock at his door.It was over a glass of wine that Lionel finally made his move, gently pulling her close and caressing her cheeks as his lips met hers. It seemed like a fire had lit up in Ann as she responded with a passionate physicality that surprised Lionel. She became a real tigress and before he knew it Ann had pulled him to his bedroom and began tugging at his shirt so she could get her hands on his chest! This was unbelievable! This surpassed Lionel’s greatest expectations. They hadn’t even eaten dinner yet! She clung to him with sincere desire and they were soon making love on a bed of clean linens he had made sure to wash! Ann was enthralled with this man of the world who had led such an interesting life and shown her so much interest like a true gentleman. She felt as though she had been waiting for man like this her whole life, especially since she had not been with another man since her husband had died! The love making had left both of them spent and they both drifted off to a pleasant sleep. The box that the bazaar owner had wrapped the doll in made a rattling noise that woke up Lionel. It was under the bed. At first, he didn’t know what was going on until he finally figured it out! It was the doll in the box making that sound! He panicked! Ann was still sleeping soundly so he reached under the bed and grabbed the box and lifting himself off the mattress, he took the doll and its cardboard prison and put it outside on his patio leaning it against the privacy fence. When he turned around to go back inside, there was Ann rubbing her eyes and frowning suspiciously. “Whatever are you doing out here?” She asked.“Thought I heard something and I was checking,” Major Eldridge lied. There was a telltale rattling that came from the box, but Ann didn’t have X-ray vision. All she heard was the noise. “I think I’ve got a beastly rodent out here. I apologize! Let’s get in! I don’t want the bastard getting into my place!” Ann seemed convinced. They both were hungry now and Lionel served the chicken dish after heating up the dinner rolls while serving up the two of them another glass of wine. Ann curled up next to him as he sipped from his wine glass. “You’re the most thoughtful man I’ve ever known, and most romantic too,” Ann admitted as she kissed his neck and made him feel aroused all over again. By now, it was after midnight, and they were both enjoying a very late meal that their fiery passion had brought their appetites to the surface over. Lionel felt truly happy for the first time in years as he gazed into the eyes of this wonderful lady. Was marriage a possibility here, he wondered. Maybe it was too premature to be fantasizing about, but he was indeed satisfied.Suddenly a flickering light shown through the glass sliding door that led to the patio! The box was on fire! Lionel went outside to quell the flames, worried that his fence might ignite. As he tried to stamp out the fire, Ann, with quick thinking brought out a pitcher of water and doused the flaming box! “My God! How did that happen?” Ann shouted in disbelief.“No earthly idea!” Lionel sighed, worried that there was something paranormal here that could spook Ann away from their situation.“Oh, look!” Ann said as she bent over and cleared the cardboard ash away. “It’s an unusual doll, and it’s not even damaged, no char, no singe, it’s in perfect condition. What was it doing out here, Lionel?”“Oh, I’ve been doing a lot of re-arranging lately,” He lied. “That’s an old doll that my daughter had when she was younger.”“Curious. It’s very unique,” Ann said as she gazed at the face. “What could ever have started the fire,” She wondered aloud.Lionel just shook his head unable to think of any kind of a logical explanation, but he knew! The doll was evil! He cringed at the thought of what might have happened had the two of them gone back to bed before that box had caught on fire! Lionel knew he had to get rid of it, but how? They went back to bed but Ann kept the doll with her. She had no idea what she was holding.“You come with me young lady,” she laughingly spoke to the doll. “We’re going to keep an eye on you.”She placed the doll on the end table and snuggled up to Lionel who held her in his arms. Slowly, they drifted off again. The darkness closed in around them and an hour or two rolled by when suddenly Ann sat straight up in the bed gasping for breath with beads of sweat on her cheeks and forehead!Lionel grabbed her,” Are you alright?”“No!” Ann gasped. “I had this horrible nightmare, and, and, that doll of yours was in the dream!” She replied catching her breath. “Perhaps it was the fire that broke out and recovering it from the burned up box. I don’t know, but I can’t sleep anymore!”“Can I get you something, dear?” Lionel asked as he rubbed her arm.“No, no, “Ann replied. “I think I’ll go home get ready to go into the shop. I have work to do.”Ann jumped out of bed, glared at the doll for a moment, dragged a brush across her hair, and began getting dressed as Lionel looked on speechless and worrying that Ann would be spooked off. He grabbed the doll, clenching his teeth and stuffed it under the bed. Something has to be done fast, he thought, or this damn doll would ruin his life! “Let me buy you some breakfast, dear,” Lionel offered.“No-no!” Ann shot back. “I need to take care of some business. Just call me later.” Ann rushed off and left Lionel wondering if this incident had screwed things up between the two of them! After showering, Lionel, got dressed, and grabbed the doll as he walked out the door to climb into his little Austin Healey sports car and steering into the early morning traffic! He knew what to do! He took A302 to the Westminster Bridge then turned off on A100 Road leading to a circular drive that ended at an observation point where he got out of his car with the doll in hand! “I’m giving you away to the River Thames!” Lionel said as he tossed the doll with all his might into the waters! Lionel drove to a pub and ordered a brandy as he mulled over the situation and then decided to go back to his place! He heard his phone ringing and rushed to pick it up. It was Ann. He was relieved to hear her voice, but was not happy to hear what she was calling about!“Lionel, I just opened the door to my shop, and guess what I found? Your godforsaken doll was right there at my steps! Is this some kind of a joke? And it’s soaking wet too. Are you playing tricks on me, Lionel?”“No! No!” Lionel shouted in disbelief, “Why would you accuse me of that?”“Well, if it’s not your doll it must be an exact double!”“This is impossible!” Lionel cried. “I just threw the damned doll into the River Thames not more than an hour ago!”“Well no wonder it’s wet!” Ann shot back! “How do you suppose it got here? Walked?”“Ann, I need to seriously talk with you. Please hear me out! I’ll be right over!” Lionel responded and slammed the phone back down on the hookLionel made a mad dash for his car and put the Austin Healey through its paces as he drove to see her! He pulled into a line of parking spaces across the street from Ann’s little shop, hopped out of the driver’s seat, and began to hurriedly cross the street, when all of the sudden a car nearly stuck him as he leaped out of the way! The driver stopped. “You trying to get yourself killed Mate? Are you alright?” He said without getting out of his Ford Cortina MK-2 four door.“I’m alright. Sorry,” Lionel apologized as he brushed off his clothes and walked toward Ann’s shop! He burst through the door breathlessly! “ We need to talk!”“What happened to you?” Ann shouted as her eyes fell upon a disheveled man.“I was almost struck by a vehicle just now!”“I wondered what that screech of tires was all about,” Ann replied as she frowned at him not bothering to ask if he was okay or not.The scorn of a woman, thought Lionel as he stared at Ann. “That doll is evil, and I lied to you and I’m sorry for that. It was never my daughter’s but I didn’t know how to explain it to you.”“Why did you lie to me about it then?”“I didn’t want to waste our time together talking about that damned doll!” Lionel glanced at it noticing its eyes seemed to follow him, and that spooked him. “I bought it at some foreign bazaar owned by some little Indian fellow. He saw I was looking at it and told me in his culture’s tradition that it can bring love and good luck, and at the time, lonely and unhappy, I bought it just for the hell of it, Ann. I had no idea what powers this thing has.”“So it’s super natural then,” Ann nodded. “Just great! Look what you’ve brought into my life! Just get rid of it then!”“It’s not that easy. He told me that in order for me to get rid of it I must give it to someone who really wants it or it will never leave me!” Lionel explained.“Oh, just great, Lionel,” Ann replied frowning. “I knew you were a man of the world, but you brought this curse with you?”“Ann, I need your help. I don’t have any friends or acquaintances I would want to give this to. It has to be someone who deserves this for the injustice they’ve done to others, and I just don’t know anyone like that.”Ann pointed to a table, “Sit down. I have to tell you something.”“First, whatever you have to say let me put the thing outside so it doesn’t overhear us,” Lionel replied.“Do you know how crazy all this sounds?” Ann asked dumbfounded.“Yes, but I know what it’s about. It has haunted me in my dreams for several nights!“Yes,” Ann agreed. “In my dreams last night the doll came to me as a grown young woman but I knew it was the doll, and it tried choking me to death! Now since I’ve had time to remember.”“Was it a porcelain skinned and slender young woman with fair hair?” Lionel asked with raise eyebrows.Ann nodded.“You see! I know!”“Then what do we do?” Ann asked.“Is there someone you know who has harmed you, threatened you, someone who is exceptionally cruel?” Lionel asked as he grasped Ann’s wrist.Ann grabbed Lionel’s hands. “I’ve never told you about how my husband died, the scandal it caused, and how I was ostracized from his family. All they cared about was not losing any of their wealth!” Tears flooded her eyes.“Yes my dear. Tell me! “Lionel prodded her.“My husband was Nigel Allen Burk, part of a wealthy family of trading brokers who profit off all of the British export and imports from the Royal Crown colonies. When my husband died he was caught having an affair with a married man’s wife her husband murdered him! It was a big scandal that caused a great deal of controversy! Somehow I was blamed by his family that I wasn’t woman enough to keep my man.”“That certainly wasn’t true!” Lionel laughed.“I would have rightfully owned half of my husband’s wealth had the courts ruled justly, and I didn’t even want all of it! I just wanted enough to start my life over again, but his greedy family apparently paid off the courts to minimize whatever settlement I was due. To add insult to injury over what my own disgrace, came what little money that I was forced to accept and begin anew, and I did it!” Ann broke down and cried unashamedly as Lionel grabbed her and held her in his arms.“I’m so sorry!” He replied feeling his eyes well up.“I know who we can give this godforsaken doll to but I don’t know how,” Ann said. “My former sister in law. She deserves it as much as the devil! She is greedy, jealous, and more vain than anyone I’ve ever known. She always resented me because she felt I was a threat to her sense of self-worth, always trying to undermine me, but I don’t know how to present it to her.”Lionel already had an idea, “Leave it to me. Just give me their address and I will take care to deliver the gift of vengeance. You just wait and see,” he assured her.“I’ll leave it to you then,” Ann dried her face with the handkerchief Lionel had offered her.Chapter IILionel stood at the gates of a plush manor and an impressive archway. There was a hand set looking like a telephone that he picked up. “This is the Burk residence. May I help you?”“Yes, my name is Eldridge, you should have a reservation for my time to meet Mrs. Nataly Burk?”“What is your business and purpose here?”“I thought I already explained that yesterday.”“I’m sorry, but I have no notes on that. Please state what your business is.”“I’m a salesman for a local merchant who is giving away a free promotion, a free gift, to acquaint local potential customers with their products. It’s completely free.” Lionel claimed as a boastful sales person would do.There was the sound of a buzzer. “Please come in and I will inform Mrs. Burk.”Lionel came to the large carved wooden door of the estate and it swung open revealing a spacious interior of luxurious artifacts, rugs, and marble flooring. It was almost breath taking. A woman came to the door dressed in a drab gray tight fitting blouse that did nothing to accentuate her flat chest, with a matching gray skirt, that flowed above a narrow pair of black leather winklepickers, that were sharp toed. She almost looked like the wicked witch of the North, Lionel noted.“How are you today, Madame? I’m so glad to be able to present you with my free offering.”She viewed him with a doubtful expression and replied, “Nothing’s for free. What is the catch?”“Oh no catch, Madame, besides, I am Mr. Eldridge and I am here to offer you a free promotional item, no cost, no obligation, the bazaar that I represent would merely like to acquaint you with its merchandise so that if you are curious and would like to browse, you will have gotten a taste of the kind of products my employer carries.” Lionel handed her a decorative box tied together with a bow and ribbon.Nataly Burk took the box with unappreciative gesture and tore open the packaging that she handed to a housekeeper standing alongside of her wearing a white cap and apron, appearing rather feeble. When she was done unwrapping the unique doll her eyes opened wide as did Nataly’s. The dismal expression on the greedy woman’s face suddenly lit up with interest. “I have an extensive doll collection that I began when I was a little girl, and this stunning figurine would go nicely with the rest of my collection.”“It is all yours,” Lionel smiled. “But, first I’ll need you to sign off on your free item just to show that you own it free and clear with no further obligation. You know how with all the fraud that goes on nowadays, that it’s good to have proof of ownership.”Nataly took her greedy eyes off the doll for a second giving Lionel a thoughtful expression, “you have a very good point there. Do you have something I can write with?”Lionel felt around his pockets and acted flustered, “I’m so sorry Mam, and I must have misplaced it.”“And you call yourself a salesman,” Mrs. Burk replied contemptuously. “Emily, would you go and get that fountain pen of mine off my desk, and throw that packaging away too,” She ordered. “And this business you represent is?”“It’s that “Curios and Antiques” Bazaar on Carnaby Street in Soho near King’s Road in Chelsea.”“Yes, I know the area,” Mrs. Burk replied dismissively as she signed for her package.“I hope you enjoy that gift and please come see us! “ Lionel replied as the housekeeper began closing the heavy door and Nataly disappeared inside without as much as glancing back at Lionel with any kind of grateful expression! God, was Ann right, this woman is a true money grubbing wench! Lionel thought as he turned to leave. It was later that evening after drinking her fill of brandy and eating a helping of the Shepherd’s pie that her chef had made that Mrs. Nataly Burk had headed for her lavish master bedroom at the top of the winding stairs. The children, her 18 year old son, and 16 year old daughter were playing the “Cluedo” mystery murder board game as their mother retired for the night. Her husband was out of town on a business trip making more foreign trade deals for the family brokerage. She fell asleep quickly having put the doll aside next to her bed on her Fresco teak wood afromosia accented end table! Just another uneventful night but for a new addition to her doll collection. So accustomed to getting whatever she wanted, the woman had little appreciation at all. When was that obsessive work horse husband of hers going to get back in town? She thought, as dream land enveloped her senses!Deep in the black void of the night as all her windows were heavily draped with flowing patterned silk fabric and lining, not one bit of starlight dared enter the darkness of the room at night. Then it happened. Nataly sat upright in bed, trying to catch her breath! A nightmare had visited her in the form of some female demon! She was chased around, hiding from her assassin and breathing hard as she awaited potential death! Now she was fully awake, gasping in her Revival Brass and iron framed “Slumberland” spring mattress bedding could not comfort her enough to overlook the horrors that had been visited upon her as she dreamt. She got up dripping with sweat from her face and leaned against her chest of drawers with beveled mirrors and glanced deeply into the glass. There, she saw a pathetic, pampered, and spoiled woman in her early 40’s as scared as any little child could have been when she saw it! There were two glowing points of light in the inky blackness of the background. She turned to see the unique doll given to her that morning, glaring like some kind of monstrosity as it penetrated right though her eyes! She whimpered as she turned, trembling with terror, and felt short of breath! Nataly then collapsed falling forward upon the plush Oriental rug she took for granted like everything else in her life. Her breathing went shallow as her heart faltered. The fright she’d experienced had done her in.In the morning her housekeeper found her. She summoned the children, too caught off guard to think of shielding them from death! Her son pulled her over on her back as she had been slumped over. The expression of horror upon her face left her son astonished as he stared in shocked amazement at her. “Mommy?” Elizabeth, her daughter mumbled in confusion as the housekeeper frantically called for a doctor on the house phone! Neither child shed a tear. They simply sat silent even as the ambulance arrived. It was later that day that Mr. Alias Nathaniel Burk arrived from his so-called business trip which had, in reality, been merely a soiree with his Mistress Francine, whom he intended to marry, but up until now, he hadn’t arrived at a comfortable solution, but with this unexpected turn of events-how convenient! And, it wouldn’t even amount to a costly divorce settlement! What more could a man like him ask for? He learned of which hospital her body had been carried off to and it would require the appearance of respect and decency for him to take a ride in his Bentley downtown to pay his respects which would be required of course of action.Meanwhile, the Mortuary at the London Hospital on Whitechapel Road on the East End would fast be autopsying the corpse of Mrs. Nataly Burk. The coroner had been puzzled. The blood work was normal with a presence of alcohol but not in great quantities. No, tranquilizers or other drugs were present. All organs appeared normal, even the heart that had apparently failed had not been diseased! That was strange! When filling out the Post Mortem Report, the examiner listed Cause of Death Unknown. However, the attending physician could not help but note the expression of horror on the face of the deceased and found that to be very unsettling.Alias Nathanial Burk, thought he had a new lease on life and, being the practical and unsentimental man that he was, he gave the mysterious doll he found in his wife’s bedroom to his fiancé as a gift, thinking she might be impressed with such an exotic present. However, as the weeks went on Alias, who had informed his new squeeze that it would take some time to transition her into the estate for the sake of public opinion and to prevent any undue rumors of scandal! However, it seemed that fate took a very bad turn for the Burk family as Francine exhibited a strange transformation in mood, complaining about strange dreams about a doll. In three weeks the mistress even in the lap of luxury that Alias Burk was keeping her in, committed suicide by drug overdose! From this point on in, the Burk Family experienced a series of personal tragedies, untimely accidents, and unlikely deaths. For some reason that no one but perhaps Ann and Lionel Aldridge could have known, the mystery of one of the wealthiest families in Great Britain suffering such sudden downfalls would remain the stuff of speculation, rumors, and occult documentaries that never arrived at the truth behind these unprecedented calamities other can some kind of curse! As for Lionel and Ann, at first there had been an awkwardness after the doll incident that had raised red flags for the woman that he loved. Ann had to step back for a while until she was assured that everything between she and Lionel was now solid and free of any other surprises. An unexpected windfall of money came from the Burk estate owed to Ann once investigators had uncovered irregularities that should have been legally settled but were apparently violations. He had been in America for a few months now as an exchange student. The US was a fascinating mixture of fashion, American self-indulgence, and politics. The Americans didn’t realize just how fortunate they really were, he thought. The abundance they enjoyed was also blinding them to the general condition of the rest of the world, but be that as it may, he had met Jenna, a 2nd year co-ed. They had been dating and had planned on a three-day weekend holiday. Jenna loved the outdoors so they would end up in nature to do some hiking. Since he didn’t know much about American geography so he left the choices up to his little princess.“I was going to make a reservation for a hike in the national parks system, but I was reading about these disappearances that kind of concerns me,” she said with cute little worry lines on her brunette features. At 5 ft. 4in. she was very fit and trim. She was confident most of the time.Being that Werner was amazed at the naivety of Americans, their pre-occupation with trivial subjects, and simply different than Germans, Werner brushed off Jenna’s concerns, “Come on! What are the chances anything could happen in your pristine forests? You have park rangers and your big deputy sheriffs, stop being a superstitious child!” He laughed.“The nearest national park is 30 miles from campus then,” She replied. “That will give us more time to explore!” She added enthusiastically.“Well, let’s get this vacation going!” Werner urged sounding a bit like Arnold Schwarzenegger. That was what initially attracted Jenna to him, his solid physique and sense of invulnerability! One Week LaterBen Diamond was a seasoned park ranger and with hands folded behind his back as he greeted the new arriving hikers as he also instructed them on safety. Sometimes he could be aggravated by some of the self-assured city dwellers who had no idea what they were getting into! Often they were the ones found stumbling incoherently through the woods, dehydrated and disoriented if they were lucky! Sometimes they were found dead? What bothered Ben was that even when some of them had survival gear, their tents and supplies were found intact, but they had vanished, but this was privileged information that was filed away or confiscated by the federal special agents on duty in the national parks. He kept silent on that subject!“I’m going to say this one time so listen up! Ask questions if you don’t understand!” He bellowed! “Do not leave the hiking trials under any circumstance! Is that understood? This keeps you from being the next victim disappearing in dense forests, lost, hypothermic, and prone to die if not rescued in a very short period of time! Is that understood?” Ben asked as he scanned the hikers and campers who were about to enter the interior of the park.Werner smirked thinking that Ben was being melodramatic, “So, does this mean your Bigfoot is on the loose?” He chuckled.“No!” Ben Diamond shot back. “It means that some cougar might just make lunch out of your sarcastic butt, or that some mother black bear might maul you if you get near her cubs! Is that clear?”Werner nodded silently as Jenna jabbed an elbow in his ribs. He had a feeling that the park ranger knew more than he was letting on. These Americans could be very cunning and sly, he thought.Jenna looked up at Werner, “He’s just doing his job!”Ben went on for some time emphasizing how hikers should behave and respect nature as he passed out brochures that illustrated all things he had discussed. Ben was the senior park ranger on site and took his job seriously though some people thought he was dramatizing occasionally. Of course, they had not seen the aftermath of a bear mauling or the body of a careless hiker who had been stalked by a puma and not lived to tell about it! People always thought it could never happen to them!Ben glanced over at Dolly, his dispatcher, “I think we got a green bunch in here this week! We’re going to have to be especially on the alert.”Dolly just raised her eyebrows, “You’re such an alarmist!” she playfully punched him in the shoulder. As Jenna and Werner prepared to go to their assigned campsite and begin their vacation, Ben walked over. “Did you guys have any other questions?” He asked.Ben was about the same size as Werner, broad shouldered, a bit overweight compared to the younger German student but imposing no less. Werner regarded the park ranger calmly as if he were not intimidated, “I think you made us quite aware of all the idiots who fall victim here!” He spoke laughingly.Ben, glared at Werner, “You need to be aware of what you’re dealing with here, okay? I don’t want to have to lead a rescue searching for you two.”Werner nodded his head as if amused, “Point taken,” he replied.“Have a nice day then,” Ben responded almost contemptuously. It was early afternoon as the group of hikers anxious to get started flocked in different directions reading the trail markers and signs as they went. The two headed for their campsite first to get situated! Jenna was the expert at this as Werner hadn’t done any overnight camping though he had hiked in the Northern Region of Germany but not camped. He allowed Jenna to structure their approach! She was a take charge type of lady, Werner thought, so he let her have her way. By the time they ha dup camp with a couple of other sites visible but some distance away it was late in the day. They had gathered firewood, set up their bedding and tent, while clearing the area for rocks or anything that could have caused them to fall or stumble. Suddenly, as Jenna strolled across the sandy forest soil, a ruffling noise like a rush of disrupted air came from overhead as it did a shadow was cast from above! It caught her by surprise but whatever made the shadow was big like some kind of aircraft! Maybe it had hit a tree top, she thought as she squinted up into the sky not knowing whether to duck or dive for the ground, but just as suddenly as the strange sound had been made, it was gone, and whatever it was seemed so far in the distance she couldn’t get a fix on it! “Werner!” She screamed. “Did you see that?”“Whatever are you talking about Fraulein?” He asked doubtfully.“Something just flew overhead! Didn’t you hear it?” Jenna explained.“No, I think you have a frayed imagination!” He replied back impervious to her confusion. She slammed a fist impotently against his huge chest, “You are such a pain!”“I think you could use a shot or two of the schnapps that I brought along to calm your nerves!” Werner offered. She blew her hair out of her face frustratedly, “Maybe you’re right!”Werner grabbed her like a mama bear would grab a cub in her arms and carried her to their tent, then administrated the peppermint liquor that surprisingly did help. She was surprised and then fell into a nap in Werner’s arms. The next thing she knew she was waking up, seeing the campfire flickering and Werner standing near looking up into the night sky. He seemed calm and reassured until she saw a worried look in his eye as he bent over and crawled into the tent as he smiled unsurely. “I’m so glad you got some rest. Apparently you needed it. Now we can enjoy the stars for a while!”“Are you okay?” Jenna asked.“Oh fine,” Werner sighed. “I have some boiling water for tea and some heated up rations for us. Now I think I’ll have some of that schnapps.”“Oh, I feel like I wasted some of our precious time off!” Jenna added ruefully.“What did we come here for? To relax” We’re relaxing no?” Werner replied as he took a mouthful of the schnapps and allowed the blast of strong mint to drain down his throat!A shooting star flashed through the inky blackness illuminated by a cluster of gem-like points of light that glinted against the night sky. Werner kissed her tenderly and rounded up a couple of sandwiches he had at the foot of the fire along with the tea pot. Jenna knew he had something on his mind anyway. She knew him that well. They filled their tin cups with hot green tea and unwrapped their melted cheese and ham sandwiches. Jenna made a satisfied sound as she munched into the toasted treat. Things seemed serene and peaceful as she sipped the tea. “I know there’s something on your mind, Werner. Spit it out!”Werner was sitting upright finishing his sandwich as he gazed at the sky propped up by one arm, and gazed at her momentarily. “I was just thinking about strange articles I used to read about science and mysteries in Der Spiegel, when I was younger that really intrigued me,” He replied thoughtfully. In Oberstufe, high school, as you call it here, I would sit and read about scientific mysteries like flying disks, your Bigfoot, and other strange species not acknowledged by the academic world and some stories originated right here in your state of Maine!”“Oh really?” Jenna clutched his muscle bound arm. “Tell me.”“The Allagash Abduction (1976): Widely considered Maine's most famous UFO case. On August 20, 1976, twin brothers Jack and Jim Weiner, along with friends Charlie Foltz and Chuck Rak, were night-fishing on Eagle Lake in the Allagash Wilderness Waterway. They spotted a brightly colored, silent sphere in the sky, tried to signal it with an SOS flashlight beam, and then they were abducted!” Werner recited dutifully. “And then there was this article about this medical experimental facility here in Maine run by the US Army that makes many people living here believe that the Bigfoot sightings have something to do with that center.”“Well, aren’t you the studious one,” Jenna playfully mocked.Werner turned to stare at Jenna when he asked,” What did you think you saw earlier in the air? I’m sorry I did not take you seriously.”“Why are you interested all the sudden?” Jenna asked probing his eyes.“I think there’s something flying around up there that’s not an airplane or meteor. I saw something while you were asleep.”“Oh!” Well now I’m not so full of shit, huh?” Jenna reacted.“I don’t know, but whatever it was it wasn’t natural!"Are we going to tell boogey man stories now, Sweetie?” She said with a nervous laugh.“Maybe these experimental labs can pull off genetic tests making man apes or even prehistoric giant birds,” Werner speculated with an ominous tone in his voice.“What did you see, Werner?” Jenna demanded as she stared into his eyes.“I-I don’t know what it was. I was thinking it through when you woke up. I saw something big and black up in the sunset sky with a huge wingspan! At first, I thought it was a small plane but then it flapped its wings and it made like a rushing sound like it was pushing air,” He frowned but she couldn’t see that in his face at the moment.“Yes-yes,” She agreed. “A kind of whooshing sound!”Werner nodded as if he got confirmation of something he didn’t want to believe. He was not easily startled but was curiously cautious over what he was seeing in his mind, “I’ve seen very old photos of hunters holding these huge birds that look nothing like what we consider predators like eagles or condors, or even owls! These were much bigger.”“And you’re telling me that’s what you saw?” Jenna insisted.“I have no other explanation,” Werner quietly admitted. “I think we should be careful.” He said slowly as though something had made an impression upon him.“Whatever you say, Captain,” Jenna playfully replied as she grabbed the back of Werner’s neck and pulled him down on top of her as their lips met.The night morphed into black infinity and into the mystery of dreamscapes. A veil of a Maine forest night fell like the ceiling of an unlit cave and the tent became still. Only their breathing disturbed the nocturnal wilderness. From above there came a strange rattling noise that echoed from a huge pair of lungs belonging to an ancient raptor that only American Indian legends had hinted at. Against the background of stars and the pale light of the moon, it drifted to a tree top and perched as its heavy weight caused a rustling of branches and leaves. The couple did not stir as they succumbed to the need for rest there at the edge of the unknown and the waking world of denial.Bruce Fletcher had rotated to early morning duty on this day and had left the park ranger office in the jeep, headed for the campsites on routine patrol. The morning was crisp in the lower 40’s and he could see his breath inside the cab. Light was barely making its way over the horizon as the clouds would not burn off for hours if at all today. The coffee had helped give him some stimulus but the chill still bit through his green, light, park ranger jacket as he made a left turn on the sandy gravel road headed for the outer campsites and a steep fall off to the right side of the road from an angled slope that bordered one side of the trail. He glanced over the horizon wishing he’d gotten more sleep when it happened!A large airborne shape moving in a peculiar way, seemed to head straight for his jeep head on! He could not make out clearly through his frosted windshield just what the hell it could be! He squinted through his glasses then slammed on his brakes! Whatever it was had been flapping huge wings and smashed right into the auto-glass! Trying to dodge the weird mid-air collision, Bruce swerved to his right and inadvertently skittered into the edge of the shoulder and over the steep slope that only led to a steep drop off and an end over end tumbling ranger jeep! Park Ranger, Fletcher screamed in disbelief, still trying to hold onto the steering wheel as his world violently rolled in a cloud of dust down the hilly face of rocky out cropping! The huge shape that had crashed into the Jeep flew up into the air and glided over the unsettled dust of a fatal wreck. The Jeep laying on one side, crumpled, wheels still spinning, partially hiding the broken body of Bruce Fletcher. The windshield was collapsed, and a huge bloody claw mark seemed painted on the front edge of the roof!“Did you hear something?” Jenna yawned as she stretched out her arms.Werner listened intently, sensed something was wrong, but lay still without a world just looking at the tent ceiling trying to understand what might have happened. “What did it sound like to you?” He sleepily groaned.“Was like something metallic crashing. Maybe a wreck,” Jenna yawned as she crawled out of the tent to look around. Then she saw it up in the air above the tree tops, a huge flying form that cast that same shadow she remembered from yesterday!“Werner quick!” She yelled.Werner hadn’t had time to straighten up and was on his hands and knees, “What?” He stubbornly muttered still trying to wake up. Glanced into the sky where Jenna was pointing and saw something that reminded him of a dragon or flying dinosaur of some kind. ”Oh my God!”Jenna also spotted a cloud of rising smoke not too far from their location rising up from the opposite roadside further down from their campsite. “What in the hell is going on?” Jenna wondered aloud. Is this some kind of nightmare?”Werner grabbed her and pulled her down into the tent, “Don’t give this damn thing a target! We don’t need to attract its attention!” he hissed. The two of them clutching each other backed away from the open end of the tent now keeping very quiet and still. Werner closed the flap to the tent and held Jenna hoping the creature would not see them. Every once in a while they heard the rush of air over the top of the tent, telling them that something big and powerful had just passed over them! It was unnerving! They waited in silence, listening for any possible inkling of danger. Finally, Werner hearing the sounds of vehicles, lifted the flap of the tent opening a watched as a line of park ranger jeeps stood at the should of the road where Jenna had seen the telltale signs of a cloud of smoke not knowing about ranger Fletcher’s jeep crashing over the slope.Checking up into the sky, Werner got up and began walking toward the small convoy of vehicles followed by Jenna. Park Ranger, Ben Diamond was standing over what was left of Bruce after having been rolled over by his capsized Jeep. The paramedics were clearing the body and loading it on a stretcher. “Please stay back!” Diamond warned Werner and Jenna, this is an accident scene!” Ben moved toward the two startled campers with his arms outstretched.“I think we may have seen what might be responsible for this earlier, “Jenna stammered.“What did you see?” Ben asked, “Or may I say, what did you think you saw?”Just then, what appeared to be US Army personnel drove up in two Humvees, camouflaged, and appearing armed with 50 caliber mounted machine guns. One of the soldiers, face covered in a green mask, walked over, “Have you secured the site?”“Just now arrived. We have one body being removed,” Ranger, Diamond replied.“Then what are these two civilians doing here?” The soldier asked.“We haven’t gotten the areas fully cordoned off yet!” the park ranger replied defiantly.“No matter! My men and I will take over from here!” The soldier replied forcefully.“And who are you with?” Ben asked.“US Army experimental lab division! We have federal jurisdiction please disburse!”“Does anybody give a damn about what we saw and how it could have been responsible for the death of this park ranger?” Jenna huffed back at the ranger and the soldier.“Care to tell us?” The soldier coldly replied.Werner silently stood aside not knowing what these Americans might do to a foreigner, not trusting them. He listened carefully and eyed the soldiers who were clearly taking charge.“My boyfriend and I were just getting up this morning when we first saw a cloud of smoke coming from this location,” she said pointing to the camp. “We were sleeping over there but when we got up we saw this flying creature of some kind and it threatened the two of us. We stayed down on the ground trying to keep from being snatched up by that thing!”“When was this? What time?” The soldier replied.“I don’t know! I was too freaked out to check my cell phone! We were trying to keep from getting attacked!”“What did this thing look like?” The soldier asked as two of his men brandishing weapons approached. That was when Werner broke in, “I thought it was a dragon at first, huge like a lizard or maybe like one of those Pterodactyls! It was a giant flying predator!”The soldier nodded to his men, “How long ago would you estimate?”“A good guess would be 2 hours ago I’d say,” Werner speculated.“From what direction did this thing come?”Jenna pointed, “That’s where I saw it first before it began flying overhead!”“You sure this wasn’t a drone of some kind or other airborne vehicle?”Jenna glared at the soldier, “I know what I saw!”“There!” One of the soldiers pointed. “There it is!”“Mount your weapons men! Prepare to fire!”“Yes Sir, Sergeant!”“What the hell does this have to do with the US Army labs?” Jenna shouted.“Corporal get these civilians the hell out of here! Ranger, withdraw your people! We’ll handle this!” The sergeant barked more orders to his men.“What are you going to do?” Werner shouted as a soldier grabbed him.The flying monstrosity came swooping down on the sergeant as the others moved away. “Fire!” he yelled just before being snatched off the ground.“We can’t fire with the sergeant in the claws of that thing!” One of the gunners cried out!“We have our orders! Now fire!” Another gunner mounted atop his Humvee called out as a loud burst of automatic ordnance flared from the muzzle of his weapon! The flying beast dropped the body of the sergeant and dodged the streams of bullets fired at it with incredible agility! Everyone but the two gunners ran from the scene. The paramedics drove off. Werner grabbed Jenna and they crouched behind one of the ranger’s jeeps, but the park ranger who jumped in, drove off leaving them stranded! Werner took Jenna by the hand and led her to her car. Jenna fumbled for her keys and the loud rattle of machine gun fire continued! Like watching flak trying to knock a fighter plane out of the sky, orange tracers of bullets followed the flying beast as it rolled and dived toward the ground. Werner and Jenna watched in horror as the aerial monster sheered the top of the gun mount and its gunner right off the Army Humvee, but the other gunner revolved into position and fired a burst that struck the animal directly and sent it to the ground as a horrid and shrill screech pierced the air. The huge body thumped onto the forest floor, torn by the bullets that had raked into it. Jenna watched the huge body spasmodically breathing its last breaths, blood spurting from its beak.“Let’s get the hell out’ve here!” Werner screamed as Jenna finally steadied herself long enough to insert her keys into the ignition to start up her car.As Jenna sped away, Ranger Ben Diamond tried to wave them down, but Werner lowered his window and extended his arm with a middle finger clearly visible like the sale on a boat into the air! Jenna watched as the sky seemed to erupt with more dark flying figures from the unknown as they descended upon the soldiers and park rangers who were unable to escape! Werner had his head cranked around watching the rear, “Keep going they are all goners!”“Do you think we should go to the authorities to tell them what we saw?” Jenna’s voice quivered.“And get interrogated by your American police and military? No way! Just keep driving! They’ll figure out a way of covering all this shit up!” Werner sighed resolutely.Tears streamed for Jenna’s eyes, “That was horrible! I can’t believe what we saw!” She stammered.“Get a hold of yourself!” Werner tried to reason with her. “Be thankful we got out alive.”Little did Jenna or Werner realize that a large shadow was hovering above them pacing the speed of their runaway vehicle and slowly descending upon it. Jenna was too freaked out to realize it and Werner was much too distracted trying to console her! Just seconds later the eerie telltale sound of a claw scraping against the sheet metal atop the car began! As she pressed her foot further against the gas pedal.Ten O’clock EST“This is Roland Pearce with the late night news reporting from our Portland affiliate! Wars cause deaths to civilians and young men who will never live to raise a family, your rights may be erased for very vague reasons like national security, your privacy has been destroyed for the sake of corporate interests, and the looming threat of militia men and alleged white supremacists whether they are truly threats or not. You may be forced to take an untested vaccine and potentially harmful serum for the sake of public health! All for what? So, that you can feel safer as long as more of your Constitutional rights are compromised? The year is 1942 just weeks after Pearl Harbor is devastated by a surprise Japanese aerial attack. Some 2500 people are dead, 8 American battle ships are sunk or severely damaged, and almost 200 US warplanes lay burning wrecks on the runways, strafed and bombed by Japanese Imperial combat aircraft. Now we have heard how cruel and inhuman it was to force 227,000 Japanese naturalized Americans to be sent to detention camps. Yes, they lost their homes, property, businesses, and some even their sanity, why? Here is the story. So put yourself back in that moment in time when the public was desperate, angry, and afraid for their country, and what happened to set the events that followed off.Of over 356 Japanese attack aircraft, only 29 pilots and their planes will never come home, but the damage done to Pearl would set back the defense of American territory for bloody months to come and many more lives would be lost as the ruthless tactics of Japanese army, navy, and air assets continues. With Pearl Harbor, Guam, Wake Island, Clark AFB on Luzon, and General Mac Arthur’s last stand at Corregidor, falling to the Japanese in quick succession, the coast of California is feared to be the next enemy conquest. This incident takes place on the island of Niihau, a sparsely populated place that the Japanese government thought was unoccupied. A Japanese pilot in his Mitsubishi Zero is forced to crash land due to flak damage to his aircraft! Petty Officer First Class Shigenori Nishikaichi thinks this island is uninhabited. The islanders there are confused over what has happened but take no action initially, but a Japanese couple living on the island offered aid to the pilot. At the time, news of the attack had not even reached the island people there. Soon they will learn! The pilot, armed with a pistol is taken in by a man and wife who are not on the side of American interests, hide the pilot, feed him, and treat his wounds while hostages are taken by the pilot. After 6 days knowing that the pilot wants to hold islanders against their will, destroy his plane before the US Navy captures it and burn the documents he had in his cockpit! Once the people on the island learn of the Pearl Harbor attack and realize that an enemy pilot has crashed on their island and a Japanese couple living there, the Harada’s have taken sides against America, one islander confronts the pilot and is shot three times in a scuffle by the Japanese aviator, his wife jumps the Japanese flyer and in the struggle it all ends and the pilot is killed. Mr. Harada who aided the enemy commits suicide. Ben Kanahele, the Hawaiian rancher who fought the Japanese pilot will receive a Medal for Merit and Purple Heart for his bravery in 1945.This incident demonstrated in the minds of military intelligence that some Japanese Americans could be spying and willing to aid and abet that enemy so the decision to detain Japanese Americans was made! Add to this witness reports of a Japanese person who was signaling the enemy pilots where to bomb during the Pearl Harbor attack and paranoia was now at a fever pitch resulting in the overriding of their Constitutional rights! At the end of the war, Japanese Americans were released but their property had been not been returned. It took until 1988 under President Reagan that reparations were awarded to those Japanese interned in 1942. The incident on the Island of Niihau was the spark that ignited an overreaction. Executive Order 9066 which authorized Japanese American detention was enacted. As we know, there were many things that FDR did using government overreach in the name of preserving “National Security” such as the confiscation of gold owned by citizens, bank closures, and the Emergency Banking Act of 1933, that put America into a permanent state of undeclared bankruptcy. We like to think that incidents like this could never happen today then we realize that they still do! The political imprisonment for the J-6 allegations by Democrats, Prosecutor Jack Smith ordering investigations of MAGA hat purchasers, The FBI conducting surveillance at catholic Churches because they don’t support abortion, blatant election fraud in 2020 hidden by the Democrats who used lawsuits and legal actions to protect corrupted electronic tabulating machines, Lois Lerner of the IRS denying charitable status to Republican groups attempting to educate voters, heavily armed ATF and FBI agents harassing parents of school children where ISD’s have defiantly allowed pornography in children’s curriculum, our nation’s borders being opened to an invasion of illegals who have no allegiance to American values! Yes, it still goes on! See More]]> Fri, 16 Oct 2026 20:52:53 +0000 1191235001 Sandy posted a video Sandy posted a videoPentagon's LifeLog vs. Facebook: Same Day Shutdown? #shortsLifeLog, the Pentagon's ambitious data collection program, was shut down by DARPA on February 4th, 2004. See More]]> Wed, 14 Oct 2026 19:07:05 +0000 1191209948 Doc Vega posted a blog post Doc Vega posted a blog postHaven't Always Agreed With Him But Bill Maher Get's It Right!See More]]> Tue, 13 Oct 2026 07:23:12 +0000 1191204867 tjdavis posted videos tjdavis posted videos ]]> Mon, 12 Oct 2026 15:18:42 +0000 1191189564 cheeki kea commented on cheeki kea's photo cheeki kea commented on cheeki kea's photoOil News ( not good )]]> Sat, 10 Oct 2026 10:55:40 +0000 1191186887 Doc Vega posted a blog post Doc Vega posted a blog postThe Death Doll-Halloween Story Two Retired Major Lionel Eldridge was browsing items in a bazaar of relics, antiques, and curios when he happened upon a strange artifact. The two lovers would end up being married and a future arose from the ashes of unexpected misfortune.See More]]> Fri, 09 Oct 2026 21:09:33 +0000 1191170329 cheeki kea commented on cheeki kea's photo cheeki kea commented on cheeki kea's photo
