It was actually extra slow and extra sweet...dancing and Nutella toast were both involved. :) Later I took Brooks to preschool, and while he was there, Ava tagged along for my--hopefully last--OB appointment for this baby growing in my belly. He or she was looking great, and I was just looking [and feeling] 39 weeks pregnant. ;)

After that appointment Ava and I enjoyed a quick target run together, then grabbed Brooks after preschool...to go home?...Or more grocery shopping? Well, I chose the latter. I had plenty of things needing to be checked of the to-get list for baby's arrival. Procrastination is my middle name. It was while shopping that I felt contractions. At first I assumed they were just the strong Braxton hicks I had been feeling the past few week...but then they started happening in my lower stomach, they were getting stronger and just 10 minutes apart. Could this really be happening??

I called Adam as I was loading the groceries in the car...telling him the contractions were closer together and much lower than I've felt before. And we should plan to go to the hospital tonight to check things out. :) Part of me was giddy on the drive home, but a another part of me was thinking, "Wait little one, please! Just a few more days!" I still had some things to get done and clean at the house, items to buy, my bag to pack, and I was mentally and emotionally prepared and looking forward to enjoying "one last weekend" with my little family of 4, and a date night with Adam. I felt sad I was being so selfish, but goodness those feelings wouldn't go away.

After getting home, putting away the groceries, and showering, with plenty of contractions through it all, I called my mom. I told her this could be it! And through tears I asked for her to pray for me. Anxiety and the fear of not feeling totally prepared was smothering me. And I'm not even the always-prepared type! That angel woman shared encouraging words, and told me she'd book a flight to come Friday, which was such a relief.

Later, while Adam was putting the kids to bed and I was packing my bag for the hospital, thoughts of doubt in my ability to mother THREE children had crept into my mind and I wanted those thoughts out! I stopped and knelt to pray, practically begging Heavenly Father for comfort and strength. I heard my three loves laughing in the kids' bedroom. :) And an incredible feeling of calm washed over me. It was all going to be okay...the house didn't have to perfectly clean, I may not get my "last weekend" but instead I'll be enjoying my "first weekend" with our new family of 5, and I'm not a perfect mom but I'm doing my best. This baby would come home to a family that was ready to love and cherish him/her, and that's all this baby really needs. Well, that and a few fresh diapers and mama's milk. ;) The excitement I had felt through my pregnancy was back and I could hardly wait to meet this little boy or girl!!

Adam's sweet mom came just before 10:00 and we headed to the hospital, knowing Brooks and Ava were in the best hands. On the drive there, we shared our final guesses as to who this babe was...we both said girl. Upon getting to the hospital, we found that a room had been made ready and waiting for me, thanks Doc! :) I was at a 4 and fully effaced. The contractions were staying consistent (now less than 5 minutes apart) and, like Ava's birth, focusing on my breathing helped me get through each one.

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="424" width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="424" width="640" />

I was anxious to know how I was progressing so my nurse checked me again (laying down for those checks made for some HARD contractions) and I was now 7 cm dilated. In between contractions I could feel baby moving...and I was suddenly overwhelmed with sadness knowing how much I'd miss being pregnant. This go-around giving birth I was buckled down tight on an emotional roller coaster! But Adam put a smile on my face by talking about how awesome it's going to be when we finally hold our son or daughter. That desire to meet our babe and find out if it is a boy or girl has given me extra motivation to get through the contractions and push harder--with all three of my births.

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="424" width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="424" width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="424" width="640" />

Midnight came and went and I felt like pushing was right around the corner. I asked my doctor to break my water (it doesn't break on its own) and as soon as he did that a wave of contractions came, and came hard. Within minutes I told them I needed to push...at 12:18am, with everything I had, I focused low, and pushed..."There's a head!" the doctor said. To say I was shocked was an understatement! I took a few breaths and pushed again..."It's a boy!!" Adam said! I could hear the joy and some laughter in his voice (remember, we had both guessed girl;) but I couldn't get my eyes to open for what felt like eternity, shock maybe? But when I did, oh my goodness it was LOVE. Heaven and Earth touched, and our BOY was here.

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="424" width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="424" width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="424" width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="424" width="640" />

Our doctor handed him to me and with tears in my eyes I said something like, "Hey little guy, you sure are messy. Goodness I love you!" Haha ;) I kissed him and snuggled his tiny body, looked at his Dad, and soaked in the euphoric feeling that WE DID IT. There's nothing like it! After the umbilical cord stopped pumping, Adam cut it, and they took our little boy to be measured, weighed, and get prints of those tiny feet. :) He was 6 lbs 13 oz and 19 inches long. He was calm during all of that, and then came over to cozy up with mama. That first feeding, with Adam by my side...I'll treasure it forever.

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="424" width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="422" width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="424" width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="424" width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="424" width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="424" width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="424" width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="424" width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="454" width="640" />

My two handsome boys went off so the littler one could get his first "bath" and then they met me in the room we'd be staying in the next few days. Adam headed home to get a good night's rest, I stayed and enjoyed the magic of our first middle of the night feeding (trying to enjoy those still, but it's getting harder, haha). I went to sleep looking forward to introducing Brooks and Ava to their new baby brother in the morning!

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="424" width="640" />

When they came I was so so excited to see them and squeeze their little, but not-so-little-now-compared-to-baby-brother, bodies! And they were happy to be with Mom. :) Dad and I introduced them to their brother, Ava was more than excited to snuggle the "Beebee!" I suspected that, she's always been a little mama. We giggled and counted his toes and found his tiny nose. I was in heaven! Brooks just wanted Dad at this time and was very hesitant. I could see he was almost getting upset and not wanting anything to do with the baby. It was then I remembered I had a tiny "gift from baby" for them. I pulled out two Pez Candy toys and told them their little brother wanted to give these to them. Brooks was thrilled with his Buzz Lightyear Pez, and I think it warmed him up to our new addition. ;) His little heart melted a bit, and watching him be so tender with his brother was magic! Adam helped Brooks be "so careful" with the baby, Ava was coloring, I was beyond content watching it all, and in that moment our little family was complete. I'm so glad I have these photos--physical records of memories I'll never forget.

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="424" width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="424" width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="424" width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="424" width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="424" width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="424" width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="424" width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="424" width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="424" width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="424" width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="424" width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="424" width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="426" width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="424" width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; height="424" width="640" />

It took us a week to decide on his name...Boston Karl Kjar. Biggest and best: we added another member to our family! But before I can share details on that little miracle, here are some awesome and awkward memories from my pregnancy. :)

Awkward:
- Losing my breathe when tieing shoes and buckling sandals, or bending down to do anything really. ;)
- Feeling like my ya-hoo is going to fall off due to funky pressure "downstairs". Umm. Tmi? Not sure how else to explain it.
- Trying to squeeze past someone, thinking there's enough room and definitely forgetting my width, so I bump them with my bump. Oops.
- Being asked by a stranger at the park if I was going to have a boy. I answer, "We'll see! We like to wait and be surprised. What makes you think boy?" She looked down at my ankles, "Oh, you're swollen." Well, thanks.
- Squatting down to pick up the receipt I was handed then dropped, and feeling the crotch of my pants rip. Greeeaaaaat.
- Walking out of the doctor's office with splotches of the belly-jelly (ultrasound gel) on my shirt. I was feeling all sorts of classy.
- Much of the time I walked around like an old woman because of my intense lower back pain. I won't miss that.

Awesome:
- Feeling and watching the baby kick and stretch in my belly. Never loses its magic!
- Brooks turned 2 the week before his little sister was born, so he wasn't really aware of what was happening...but this go-around he's much more excited about baby brother or sister! And I think it's rubbing off on Ava. :)
- Knowing Brooks' or Ava's clothes will be used by this second boy or girl!
- Closing my eyes and imagining bringing this babe into the world. I treasure my experiences giving birth, and my heart can hardly wait to open up and feel love for another little one after laboring to get him or her here.
- I was nervous to be pregnant through the summer, but it hasn't been as dreadfully hot as I expected. Plus I don't have to suck in for even a second in my swim suit. Haha, I'm ridiculous. ;)
- Brooks and Ava love to feel the baby move (okay, sometimes I move it so they think it's the baby;) I get to watch them get so excited, and then I feel their bellies. Sweetest back and forth interaction. :)
- I had this little "vision" of Brooks and Ava helping me rub lotion on our freshly bathed babe...it was a boy, and his little arms and legs were wiggling around and big brother and sister were giggling the whole time.

The babe's birth story will be coming tomorrow. Feeling beyond blessed thinking back. :)2014/11/bumping.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (Haley)11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8949614731237417456.post-4166253514581038878Thu, 08 May 2014 16:25:00 +00002014-05-10T15:27:34.154-07:00Avabathtub babesBrookssibling loveLate night tub time
Lots of tickling and kisses happened during Brooks and Ava's tub time last night. Two and a half weeks before going back to work, to be precise. So what better way to use it than to plan a little tea party. And since we'd been to America (duh), I decided to theme it on the US of A.

Which mainly meant lots of red, white and blue and a large dose of sugary, fatty food. Nom nom, etc. Here's the most part of the spread.

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="434" src="; width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="430" src="; width="640" />

Yup, my apron has my name on it.

And that bunting? It goes all along the length of the other wall and it took me a few hours to make. But it was worth it when a lovely friend said it was the neatest bunting she'd ever seen. I didn't have enough time to sew proper bunting (I started it the day before the party, whoops), so I made it out of coloured card and punched holes to thread string through. Easy peasy.

When it comes to cooking, I'm no chef. I can handle one-pot dishes and a roast dinner but that's about your lot.

Baking, however. That's my thang. I follow the recipe to the T and - huzzah! - the cakes come out almost like the picture in book. That's the sort of cooking I like. So I made cakes. Many many cakes. So many that we had some left over (YAYS).

And when I say I like baking, I also like the glory that comes with it. There was a little surprise when I cut into that rather large (and slightly wonky) beast of a cake your saw above...

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="; width="640" />

EEK, IT'S AN AMERICAN RAINBOW CAKE!! There were gasps of delight all around and I was very chuffed indeed. It tasted pretty dang good, too. The cupcakes were either red velvet, white or blue vanilla, too, but I couldn't have told you that earlier or I'd have ruined the surprise.

Other tasty American-style treats included (but not all in the pic above) these stinky corndogs, pastrami sandwiches, pepperjack cheese sandwiches, beef and veggie slider burgers, pretzels, cheese puffs and pickles. Mmm.

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="; width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="; width="640" />

Oh, and this incredible American flag pie made by Adam's fair hands - arguably even more impressive than the rainbow cake. I'd like to take credit for finding the picture of the pie and the recipe on the interweb (it's my party and I'll boast if I want to!) but credit where credit's due: the boy done good.

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="; width="640" />

Here's a close-up of the cherry and blueberry delight.

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="; width="640" />

It went down a treat with some squirty cream.

Altogether a successful little party. Oh, and in case you're wondering, there were actual real people in attendance. We just didn't have the camera out because we were too busy stuffing our faces.

Can you blame us?2011/06/foody-celebration.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (Lucy)0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2336529699305894632.post-5927286961970616945Mon, 30 May 2011 16:30:00 +00002011-05-30T09:31:54.171-07:00foodmartha stewartMartha, I love youMartha Stewart, that is: high priestess of homemaking.

Last autumn I got Martha's 2010 Halloween Handbook and wanted more more more. But I've struggled to find other Martha-branded mags over here so I was super excited (yes, I even squealed) when I found the May edition of Martha Stewart Living in Borders in Ann Arbor.

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="; width="640" />

It's FULL of pretty pretty things, recipes, party ideas... and because this one was based around florals, it had a section on Northern Californian flower growers and markets. We planned to find some around San Francisco but didn't get the time (great story, I know). I also managed to nab the June issue before we flew back, this one with a summertime theme.

In other trip-related Martha news, I found out about Martha Stewart's line of products at Macy's department store on <a href=" favourite food blog. She has a whole selection of bakeware and accessories, but what I was after was this little piece of genius.

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="; width="640" />

Breakfast To Go. This baby takes Tubberware-type containers to a whole new level. It has two clever compartments where you can separate the different elements of your breakfast. Stick cereal flakes or granola in the bottom and it won't go all mushy by the time you get to eat it because that naughty yoghurt has its own little level.

There's more. It comes with a spoon! It lives under the top layer, and you just click the two bits together. So you don't have to have a rogue piece of cutlery knocking around your handbag, clanging against your sunglasses case and getting caught up in your keys. So clever.

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="; width="512" />

Adam was jealous of my find so I bought him one, too. Oh, and one for big sis. I'm starting a UK Martha Stewart Breakfast To Go revolution, me.

But I couldn't leave Macy's with just a a handful of Breakfast To Go pots. Oh, no. I wanted MORE. (Well, I wanted all of it, to be precise, but there's only so much you can sneak onto your boyfriend's credit card account and indeed fit into your suitcase.)

This marvellous invention came home with me, too. Lunch On The Go? Yes, please.

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="446" src="; width="640" />

OK, so same concept: the different parts of your meal stay separated in their own little plastic homes. Stick your sangers in the bottom and then have your fruit and some cookies in the top two sections. Lovely.

But the most exciting part about this set is that it contains a REMOVABLE ICE PACK. Come on! (Notice also how the little tubs have measurements on them. Nifty.)

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="; width="640" />

No longer will the full fridge at work render my sandwiches office temperature as they sit under my desk (no one likes sweaty cheese, do they?).

I will simultaneously have the coolest lunchbox and smuggest pre-lunch face my office has ever seen.

Lunchtimes will never be the same. Especially if I use my Breakfast To Go pot as a clever snack receptacle. Carrot/cucumber/celery sticks and houmous. Raisins and crackers plus peanut butter. Oatcakes on the bottom, cheese and grapes on top.

Oh, the possibilities... I can't wait to use them. Is it time to go back to work yet?2011/05/martha-i-love-you.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (Lucy)0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2336529699305894632.post-5475384054863395887Mon, 30 May 2011 10:57:00 +00002011-05-30T03:57:53.557-07:00foodholidaysLALA: revisitedVenice Beach gave us a pretty nice 'welcome back' in the form of this beautiful sunset.

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="; width="640" />

As crazy and lively as the beach is in the daytime, I think it comes to life most in the evening when the masses depart and the beach can speak for itself.

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="; width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="; width="640" />

Pretty huh? But let's pretend they're The Hoff's. Some of Baywatch was filmed here, after all.

So that was Wednesday evening. Thursday was a bit of a write-off. We slept in, left at lunchtime to go to Newport Beach, drove around trying to find anything that looked like The OC and then gave up, sat on the beach to eat a soggy tuna sandwich (Whole Foods let us down this one time), then drove two hours back through rush hour traffic on the freeway and that was that. The evening, however, was better with a little trip to a Santa Monica cinema to see Thor. FYI, Milk Duds rule.

Friday was more eventful. Universal Studios!

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="; width="640" />

First thing we did was take the Studio Tour, on a big trolley. And then finished up near this big blue screen. In front of it is the (currently dry) lake where they film water/lake/sea screens, like the one from Pirates Of The Caribbean where Cap'ain Jack is floating in a little row boat. Kinda take the Hollywood wonder away...but cool all the same.

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="; width="640" />

That night, our last in America, we went to an awesome Mexican restaurant in Santa Monica called <a href=" Cocina. De-lish. I had fish tacos and a mojito (I meant to order a margarita but got confused). Muchos tequila and cool paper decorations. On a par with the Taco Joint in Chicago, I'd say. Well, nearly.

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="; width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="; width="640" />

On the way back to Venice, we passed this. Not that it had been sunny all the time, but the weather did what it should do where we were when we were there.

Apart from for the drive down Highway 1, that supposedly picturesque cruise past turquoise waters through Monterey, Big Sur and down to LA.

Picturesque it was, but the water was not turquoise. In parts, we could barely see it! So here's how you do wet weather days out on the Pacific Coast...

Buy taffy, and lots of it.

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="; width="480" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="; width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="; width="640" />

Find the pretty pink flowers in Pacific Grove.

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="; width="640" />

Take arty pictures of your hire car by the beach (I took this one, despite it looking like one of Ad's).

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="; width="640" />

Have your photo taken on a big rock in front of an even bigger rock (Bird Rock, to be precise) that's covered in birds and seals.

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="; width="426" />

Cough up $9.50 for the 17-mile drive. You could stay in the Lodge if you had $500 to spare per night (we didn't).

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="; width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="; width="640" />

Drive round to Carmel Mission and don your history hat.

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="; width="640" />

Battle the rain along Big Sur.

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="; width="640" />

Get your woodsman pose on in the State Parks.

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="; width="640" />

Become mesmerised by the waves in the bay at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, but less so by McWay Falls at low tide (I hate to say it but it kinda looks like someone's having a big wee from behind the cliff).

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="; width="640" />

Discover that you can never fully plan your route when you've driven right up into the clouds on a detour around the landslide on the way to Hearst Castle only to find out that the US army have literally just closed the road you're driving on and you've got to go back to where you started to get to where you're trying to go (a laboriously long sentence to describe a laboriously long drive).

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="; width="640" />

Still, get to where you're going you will - San Luis Obispo (the happiest town in America, no less) - and stay in a swanky hotel to mark the near-end of your trip. Celebrate the fact that that hotel provides fluffy white robes, unlike anywhere else you've stayed in the past six weeks.

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="; width="640" />

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="; width="640" />

And finally, finally, you'll find that the sun does shine on the coast at Santa Barbara.

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="; width="640" />
2011/05/central-coast.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (Lucy)0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2336529699305894632.post-2385635722809614662Sat, 21 May 2011 05:57:00 +00002011-05-20T22:57:37.572-07:00fancy dressflowerssan franciscoSan Fran: the whole shebang - Bay To Breakers<!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:LatentStyles DefLockedState="false" DefUnhideWhenUsed="true" DefSemiHidden="true" DefQFormat="false" DefPriority="99" LatentStyleCount="267"> <w:LsdException Locked="false" Priority="0" SemiHidden="false" UnhideWhenUsed="false" QFormat="true" Name="Normal"/> <w:LsdException Locked="false" Priority="9" SemiHidden="false" UnhideWhenUsed="false" QFormat="true" Name="heading 1"/> <w:LsdException Locked="false" Priority="9" QFormat="true" Name="heading 2"/> <w:LsdException Locked="false" Priority="9" QFormat="true" Name="heading 3"/> <w:LsdException Locked="false" Priority="9" QFormat="true" Name="heading 4"/> <w:LsdException Locked="false" Priority="9" QFormat="true" Name="heading 5"/> <w:LsdException Locked="false" Priority="9" QFormat="true" Name="heading 6"/> <w:LsdException Locked="false" Priority="9" QFormat="true" Name="heading 7"/> <w:LsdException Locked="false" Priority="9" QFormat="true" Name="heading 8"/> <w:LsdException Locked="false" Priority="9" QFormat="true" Name="heading 9"/> <w:LsdException Locked="false" Priority="39" Name="toc 1"/> <w:LsdException Locked="false" Priority="39" Name="toc 2"/> <w:LsdException Locked="false" Priority="39" Name="toc 3"/> <w:LsdException Locked="false" Priority="39" Name="toc 4"/> <w:LsdException Locked="false" Priority="39" Name="toc 5"/> <w:LsdException Locked="false" Priority="39" Name="toc 6"/> <w:LsdException Locked="false" Priority="39" Name="toc 7"/> <w:LsdException Locked="false" Priority="39" Name="toc 8"/> <w:LsdException Locked="false" Priority="39" Name="toc 9"/> <w:LsdException Locked="false" Priority="35" QFormat="true" Name="caption"/> <w:LsdException Locked="false" Priority="10" SemiHidden="false" UnhideWhenUsed="false" QFormat="true" Name="Title"/> <w:LsdException Locked="false" Priority="1" Name="Default Paragraph Font"/> <w:LsdException Locked="false" Priority="11" SemiHidden="false" UnhideWhenUsed="false" QFormat="true" Name="Subtitle"/> <w:LsdException Locked="false" Priority="22" SemiHidden="false" UnhideWhenUsed="false" QFormat="true" Name="Strong"/> <w:LsdException Locked="false" Priority="20" SemiHidden="false" UnhideWhenUsed="false" QFormat="true" Name="Emphasis"/> <w:LsdException L

Agile here equals with just installing a dozen frameworks after each other and skim another programming or markup language in a row spiced with some algos and stats. You gonna be exposed to SQL, NoSQL, Python, Avro, Pig, Flask, Bootstrap, Jinja, D3.js, nvd3.js, MongoDB, ElasticSearch, GitHub, dotCloud, S3, Elastic Mapreduce, Google Analytics, Mortar Data, ElasticSearch, Wonderdog, TF-IDF and Naive Bayes, all in 178 pages.

Thinking positively this is the quickest possible intro for a workflow with all typical phases, although weapons of choice seem arbitrary, never a why, never a pro or a con nor any alternatives. If you're lazy to understand the landscape and want a pre-cooked menu that you can cook, but can't change the recipes, go for it.

Check for yourself at <a href="; target="_self">O'Reilly.

Score: 2 of 5.

<a title="Megosztom Facebookon!" href=" src="; alt="Megosztom Facebookon!"> <a title="Megosztom Twitteren!" href=" src="; alt="Megosztom Twitteren!"> <img src="; alt="Megosztom Tumblren!">

/2013/12/28/agile_data_science/full_commentlist/1 soobrosa book oreilly 2013 0 Adatkelet Review: Python for Data Analysis (O’Reilly Media) /2013/05/08/review_python_for_data_analysis_o_reilly_media Wed, 08 May 2013 20:04:00 +0200 5618571@
<img src="; alt="" />Mea culpa, but I was waiting for THE Pandas book given its author. I believed that pandas deserve a good intro book with decently built examples and learning curve, but I was wrong. This book is a very uneven kind of batched together webreference chapters. Most of the material is not meant for beginners sometimes even can get kind of scary. No pun intended, it smells like good intent, bad execution for me. As a starter Chapter 2 contained non-working code snippets while Chapter 3 exposed such inner workings that could confuse readers. Why is this here, I mean all editors went on strike? Truth to be told the 2nd edition fixed some of the most annoying bugs. Strictly appendix stuff is edited in as the main course. Videos from Strata 2011 was already featured in this blog as they condensed such wit and knowledge with good presentation that I believe it's a must to consume them for any serious data nerd. This video product is not perfect - see my struggle with talking head videos before -, yes, in general it would make more sense to show the overhead projection in a big and the talking head in a small crop, but the Strata 2012 video compilation is actually more than you can handle and I'm not just talking about the 106 hours equaling gigabytes of MP4 movies. Yes, if you lurk around Youtube, you can find some of the best presentations out there, for free, but this product also contains the materials of the workshops that you definitely shouldn't miss. Please find below three of my favourite presentations from Avinash Kaushnik, Ben Goldacre and Jeremy Howard.

Check for yourself at <a href="; target="_self">O'Reilly.

Score: 5 of 5.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="; frameborder="0" allowfullscreen=""> <iframe width="560" height="315" src="; frameborder="0" allowfullscreen=""> <iframe width="560" height="315" src="; frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="">

<a title="Megosztom Facebookon!" href=" src="; alt="Megosztom Facebookon!"> <a title="Megosztom Twitteren!" href=" src="; alt="Megosztom Twitteren!"> <img src="; alt="Megosztom Tumblren!">

/2012/08/11/o_reilly_strata/full_commentlist/1 soobrosa 0 Adatkelet Magyar közösségi slágerlista az Artisjus-nak /2012/08/01/artisjus_314 Wed, 01 Aug 2012 14:26:00 +0200 4747864@
<img src="; alt="" class="imgnotext" width="600" />

Ahogy erről az <a href="; target="_self">Index is beszámolt, a Youtube és a Facebook adatai alapján zenei slágerlistát készítettünk a 3G Multimédiával az Artisjus zenei jogvédő egyesület számára. The topic of machine learning is both generally hot and personally interesting to me as I try to mangle recommendation approaches in the music domain and just finished with all worthwhile heuristics-based methods. I thought that this book could provide me with a good entry and could be a newer, more up-to-date approach than the classic <a href=" Collective Intelligence by Toby Segaran. Nonetheless I was a bit surprised to realize that the hackers' language should be R instead of Python - so this meant that the book would also serve me as an intro to R. As learning R is also on my long to-do list, I was hoping that I could kill two birds with one stone.

The book has a solid structure, the first quarter is covering basic statistics showcasing the capabilities of R. Typical starter exercises of ML are well versed: Bayesian spam filtering, weighting schemes for ranking, regression, overfitting and optimization is explained and demonstrated with a down-to-earth and hands-on approach. The authors also touch some of the more complex topics: principal components analysis, multidimensional scaling and the k-nearest neighbours algorithm are introduced with real world data. I was really delighted to see a longer chapter dedicated to social graph analysis and I totally give kudos for the inclusion of Gephi, the powerful open source graph visualization and manipulation software that I also enjoy using more and more.

The authors come from a social science background and although this book seems to be avoiding 'programming' or providing code that could be incorporated in a runtime environment, I believe the goal they set, to provide machine learning tools for tinkering, has been reached with great success. It's short, concise and not scary at all. However, I’m not totally sure how it should be consumed as I found it a bit middle-of-the-road, too detailed for a reference book, but not covering all the razorsharp workhorse approach of UNIX commands.

<a href=" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px" title="qordowi yahudi" border="0" alt="qordowi yahudi" src="; width="333" height="246" />

Maulana Mohammed Taqi Amini menyatakan:

The end of Shariah is equity and justice and every measure which may be employed therefore, shall be a part of the Faith and not a violation thereof

_______________________________________________________________

Rujukan: Fiqh Jihad-Dr.

Kesaksian wanita separuh kesaksian lelaki.

__________________________________________________________
Rujukan:

Majalah Fatawa Vol.III/No.04 dengan sedikit perubahan
Majalah Fatawa Vol.III/No.04 dengan sedikit perubahan
Kuliah Dr Juanda Jaya
<a href="; “Aurat Wanita Lebih : Adilkah ? Sungguh betapa ingin rasanya aku memerintahkan orang-orang untuk solat kemudian aku memerintahkan seseorang untuk mengimami mereka. Lalu aku pergi bersama beberapa orang laki-laki dengan membawa kayu bakar menjumpai orang-orang yang tidak menghadiri solat berjemaah, lalu aku bakar mereka bersama rumah-rumah mereka dengan api."(HR. Al-Bukhari dan Muslim)
<a href=" style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="akhilhayykembarasufikch8" border="0" alt="akhilhayykembarasufikch8" src="; width="375" height="244">

Muhammad Fakhruddin Ismail
2009/08/jadikan-artis-sebagai-imam-solat.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (DIN)0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4684407839567131904.post-824707492509507919Wed, 22 Jul 2009 22:27:00 +00002009-07-22T15:27:25.423-07:00Hanya Satu Klik Dosa Mencurah-Curah

Oleh
Muhammad Fakhruddin Ismail

<a href=" style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="komputer" border="0" alt="komputer" src="; width="330" height="264">

Muhammad Fakhruddin Ismail
2009/07/hanya-satu-klik-dosa-mencurah-curah.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (DIN)0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4684407839567131904.post-3978514475563212513Fri, 17 Jul 2009 04:46:00 +00002009-07-16T21:46:40.652-07:00Politik dan Realiti

Oleh

Muhammad Fakhruddin Ismail

<a href=" size="3" face="Times New Roman">;

<a href=";
