In the United States, it is the day before Thanksgiving, a holiday celebrating our blessings. (Wouldn’t it be wonderful if every day was a day of thanksgiving? It can be!)

For me, it is a time not only to reflect on my blessings and enjoy the company of family and friends, but it is also a time to reflect on the year to this point and consider how I want to spend the remainder of it.

A story keeps circling in my mind, one you might already be familiar with, one I’ve passed along several times before.

A university professor went to visit a famous Zen master. While the master quietly served tea, the professor talked about Zen, holding himself forth as an expert on the topic. The master poured the visitor's cup to the brim, and then kept pouring. The professor watched the overflowing cup until he could no longer restrain himself. "It's overfull! No more will go in!" the professor blurted. "You are like this cup," the master replied. "How can I show you Zen unless you first empty your cup?"

So it is with me. My cup is overflowing with thoughts, plans, activities, ideas, and, sometimes most of all, words. Strange to say that. I love words. I built a career on words, and always felt so lucky to get paid for having so much fun. No one is more surprised than I have been this year to find myself pulling back from what has for so many decades fed my spirit. And yet....

My one month break from blogging in June stretched to two and then three months. I came back in September, but since I’ve been back, I can sense a change. I have enjoyed reconnecting, but my attention seems elsewhere.

Where? Not in a place, perhaps, but in a process. A process of emptying, releasing. Michelangelo said that when he was sculpting David, he chipped away everything that wasn’t David. I have no claim to a masterpiece, but I do have a sense of allowing everything to fall away that isn’t ... hmm, words fail me. I guess that’s the point.

I have loved writing this blog for over three years. I treasure most of all the connections I have made with so many wonderful people whose paths I would not have otherwise crossed. I have appreciated more than I can say (again words fail me!) the friendship and encouragement I have received from the generous spirits that populate my blog world. And of course the fun! This has indeed been a happy place for me. A very happy place.

I have run out of words, at least for now. Thanksgiving seems like a perfect time to say thank you, and to let this blog take a rest. I would like to spend the rest of this year visiting your blogs to say a personal thank you. I will be by to see you soon.

I’m not closing the site, so if there is something here you would like to revisit, the door is always open and you are always welcome. My book will continue to be for sale, and the proceeds will continue to be donated to <a href="; target="_blank">Edwards Center. And if you would like to reach me, please don’t hesitate to do so by email or Facebook.

May you all find your happy place, and live there always.

It is enough.2013/11/it-is-enough.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (Galen Pearl)92tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3302107831896769514.post-7630702417410633829Tue, 19 Nov 2013 05:27:00 +00002013-11-18T21:34:51.859-08:00autismfearparentingStep 6-JudgingStep 7-CompassionYou're Invited!
<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="; width="320" />

God doesn’t call me to judge you. God calls me to love you. ~Joel Osteen

I’ve been thinking about labels and reactions to labels. We sometimes reject the whole concept of labels, because they are often used to limit, or to divide “us” from “them.” We use them to dismiss, to separate, to stereotype, to discriminate, to judge. In the United States, we are all too painfully aware of the damaging and tragic use of labels based on race, gender, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, and physical or mental disability.

So is the answer to throw out all the labels? Maybe. On the other hand, maybe the problem isn’t with the label itself but with how we use it.

For example, my son James is autistic. When he was a boy, he was mainstreamed in a regular classroom. His behavior seemed odd to other children. The children who tried to talk to him or include him in play were confused by behavior they didn’t understand. They were sometimes even afraid of him. They stayed away from him.

I made a decision to give them information, to use a label and explain it. Every year, near the beginning of the year, the teacher and I would arrange for someone to come in and talk to the kids about autism. James was not present for these discussions so that the kids could freely ask questions.

Without exception, once the kids had some knowledge, they showed tremendous acceptance and compassion. They went out of their way to include James.

Towards the end of his last year at that school, the PE department put on a presentation, showcasing the skills that the kids had learned. It was all very impressive, and the parents’ applause was constant. Then it was James’s turn. He started across the stage but then hesitated. Everyone got just quiet enough for me to hear one of the kids near him encourage him. “You can do it, James.” James tucked his head and did a crooked somersault. He stood up beaming. The whole gym erupted in applause. Tears were streaming down my face.

Labels don’t have to divide us. They can invite us in. Knowing that someone is from a different country, or practices a different religion, or is of a different ethnicity can be an invitation to get to know that person. We can be curious instead of judgmental. We can be welcoming instead of fearful. We can celebrate our differences, and in doing so, we can move past all labels and find our common ground.

Enjoy this short video of a dog who sees past labels.

<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='; frameborder='0'>

related posts: The Water Is for Everyone; There Is No Them2013/11/youre-invited.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (Galen Pearl)33tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3302107831896769514.post-2591463789659407848Tue, 12 Nov 2013 20:02:00 +00002013-11-12T12:02:10.404-08:00fearStep 10-NowStep 3-ControlyieldEmbracing Transformation
<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="; width="320" />

What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly. ~Richard Bach

Years ago, I was a mess. Chronic fretting and stress were affecting my health. My determination to control my world was wearing me out, and of course it was a complete failure. I yelled at the kids...a lot. I didn’t sleep well. Relaxing and having fun were out of the question.

After ending up in the emergency room twice with excruciating pain that had no medically detectable origin, I knew that this was my wake up call from life. As Step One of the Twelve Steps says, my life had become unmanageable, and I had to change or die. So I set about to transform my life.

Please read the rest of this post at <a href="; target="_blank">Always Well Within ....2013/11/embracing-transformation.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (Galen Pearl)7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3302107831896769514.post-2533291280767799155Sat, 09 Nov 2013 20:19:00 +00002013-11-09T12:19:11.585-08:00Step 5-KindnessSurprise Blessing
<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="; width="245" />

A few minutes ago, my phone rang. The caller asked for someone who lived in my house many years ago. I happened to have that person’s current number. After reassuring myself that the caller was someone that my former housemate would want to hear from, I shared the current number.

The caller repeated the number back to me, and then said, “Thank you. You are a wonderful human being.”

I laughed in surprised delight. I felt an energy, generous and loving, wash over me. “Thank you,” I replied. “You are a wonderful human being, too.”

I didn’t know this person, but I’m sure that what I said to him was true. He could have just said thank you, but he offered me a gift of blessing, a blessing to a stranger.

Wouldn’t it be great if we took simple encounters with people and turned them into blessings?! [I would be a wolf.] But today, I’d like to raise a different kind of animal question.

Is there an animal that has some special significance to you? For me, the praying mantis has caught my attention this year. As some of you know, my word of the year is Wait. I had not thought of this word in connection to an animal, but the image of a praying mantis kept popping up here and there, so I started looking a little closer.

The mantis is described as an ambush predator because it gets its food mainly by being still and waiting for something to come close enough for it to attack quickly and seize its prey. Patience is key.

Beyond the obvious connection to waiting, the mantis symbolizes stillness and inner peace, insight and divine wisdom. It is the sacred symbol of God to the African Bushmen, or San people.

So these days I have a little glass praying mantis sitting with me as I meditate. It is a reminder to be patient, alert in the stillness, waiting until it is time to act.

What about you? Any special animal speaking to your spirit these days?2013/10/animal-wisdom.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (Galen Pearl)30tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3302107831896769514.post-7186116180577325176Tue, 22 Oct 2013 21:33:00 +00002013-10-22T14:33:09.062-07:00fearStep 10-NowyieldTouching the Earth
<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; />

Each blade of grass has its spot on earth whence it draws its life, its strength; and so is man rooted to the land. ~Joseph Conrad

In Greek mythology, Antaeus was the son of Poseidon, god of the sea, and Gaia, mother earth. As long as he was in contact with the ground, his mother gave him strength to beat anyone in battle. He vanquished all foes until Heracles figured out his secret and held him in the air, rendering him weak and easily dispatched.

In tai chi and kung fu, our teacher repeatedly reminds us to root through our feet into the ground. All our power comes from our connection to the earth. I got a memorable demonstration of that today. Our teacher was showing us how much energy can be generated by “sinking” into our root. Using me as his partner, he stood in front of me with his open palm facing me, his fingers lightly resting on my chest.

Without withdrawing his hand, he made only the slightest visible move, sort of a dropping of the hips and a settling of the wrist. Power exploded from his hand. It felt like a horse had kicked me in the chest. I flew backwards across the room and landed unceremoniously on my behind. It surprised everyone, including, I think, the teacher, who ran to help me up and was very solicitous of me the rest of class.

As I’ve told people about my martial arts practice, it is a practice in humility! Beyond my wounded ego and derriere, though, I learned something today about the giving and receiving of energy.

On the giving side, it is abundantly clear to me that we are the most powerful when we are grounded. This is true whether we are talking about physical power or spiritual strength. When we are connected with an open channel to our source, by whatever name you want to call it (nature, God, chi, the universe), we are able to offer to others the energy that flows through us and out. People who manifest beauty, whether through art or love or martial arts or any other form, often speak of something coming through them rather than from them.

On the receiving side, the same is true. We are the least powerful when we try to block the natural flow of energy. Knowing what my teacher was about to do (even if I did not anticipate the degree of power), I braced myself to resist. I was not rooted, but rather rigid. Whatever harm I suffered was from my own resistance. Had I been able to stay fluid and rooted, his energy would have moved through me and back into the earth.

And what was my resistance but fear? Fear blocks energy. We can neither offer nor receive energy when we are stiff with fear. Fear uproots us because it disconnects us from the ground of the present moment, from the fluidity of our breath, from the loveliness and the lovingness of the universe.

How often in my life do I resist what is? How often do I get pulled from the perfection of the present moment into fearful thoughts? Yes, too often. So I’ll be back in class tomorrow, and I will ask for another demonstration. Because this is where my practice is, on the ground.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain. ~Frank Herbert

related posts: Invest in Loss; Step Away from the Thought2013/10/touching-earth.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (Galen Pearl)24tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3302107831896769514.post-690838144662726189Tue, 15 Oct 2013 23:36:00 +00002013-10-15T16:36:14.398-07:00habitsBaking Bread
<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; />

For the things we have to learn before we can do them, we learn by doing them. ~Aristotle

When I was in my late teens and early twenties, I was a back to the land hippie. I lived in the mountains of northwest Montana, far from neighbors, with a view of Glacier National Park from the front porch of the little shack I called home. Without electricity or running water, life revolved around getting water from the spring nearby and wood for cooking and heat. I hiked miles through the woods with my dogs, and watched the big Montana sky. Life was good.

I prided myself on my self-sufficiency, learning about foods and medicines that grew wild all around me. I learned to cook on the wood stove and fixed some pretty tasty meals, if I do say so myself.

But baking bread was something I just couldn’t seem to master. I bought wheat from a farmer, ground my own flour with a hand cranked mill, and meticulously followed countless recipes. The hard loaves I produced were more useful as weapons or doorstops than for eating.

Finally a woman from a ranch in the next valley took pity on me. She invited me over one day to make bread. First, she taught me the right water temperature for activating the yeast. She taught me by having me put my hand in the water when it was just right. Then she added flour until the dough was ready for kneading. She didn’t measure anything. She just knew from experience. She had me feel the dough and knead it when it was just right.

At every step she had me looking, touching, poking, kneading, pressing, smelling, teaching me not by words in a book and precise measures, but by sight and feel, by the experience rather than intellect. The bread finally came out of the oven. Perfect. We sliced off steaming pieces and slathered them with home churned butter. I think I ate a whole loaf all by myself.

From that day on, I baked delicious bread, all kinds of bread. I never looked at another recipe.

Now I’m not saying that recipes are bad, and I certainly needed instruction, but I couldn’t learn how to bake bread until I could feel it.

Sometimes I look at all the books I have on my bookshelves about happiness, meditation, forgiveness, martial arts, mindfulness, grace, bring present. I’m looking at them right now, in fact. How many more books do I think I need?

Billionaire Rockefeller was once asked how much more money he thought he needed. Just a little more, he replied. I get that. Perhaps I need just one more book.

But I can’t read myself into inner peace unless I practice, just like you can’t read about running and then go run a marathon. I need to actually have the experience of meditating, forgiving, practicing martial arts, whatever. I need to feel the dough.

The doorbell rang just a few minutes ago. Oh good, my new book on tai chi just arrived.

Practice is a means of inviting the perfection desired. ~Martha Graham2013/10/baking-bread.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (Galen Pearl)35tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3302107831896769514.post-5481625499426285015Thu, 10 Oct 2013 21:00:00 +00002013-10-10T14:00:21.551-07:00shineStep 1-PermissionStep 9-GratitudeI'm in Paradise
<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="; width="320" />

I went to lunch last week with two wonderful women. One I had known for years, and the other was new to me. As we were getting settled, our server stopped by with water. He made the perfunctory introduction and asked how we were doing. Fine, we said, in the usual response.

Then I asked him how he was doing. He lit up. “I’m in paradise,” he enthusiastically replied. We all stopped mid-menu-opening and looked up. Was he being sarcastic? I couldn’t read his face.

Our expressions must have suggested we needed further explanation, so he continued. “I’m alive and employed.” We must have looked even more doubtful about his sincerity, because he stopped pouring water and looked at us with his full attention. “I mean it,” he said simply, and moved on to other tables.

We three just looked at each other, aware that the universe had just treated us to lunch.

He who knows enough is enough will always have enough. ~Tao Te Ching

related post: Contentment: Priceless2013/10/im-in-paradise.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (Galen Pearl)32tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3302107831896769514.post-2811504235889988716Sun, 06 Oct 2013 01:30:00 +00002013-10-05T18:30:04.604-07:00Step 2-HappyStep 6-JudgingStep 7-CompassionNeti, Neti
<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; />

To organize is to destroy. ~Lao Tan, quoted by Thomas Merton in The Way of Chuang Tzu

“Neti, neti” is a Sanskrit expression from ancient Hindu texts. It can be translated as “Not this, not this.” The words are meant to express the inexpressible, what the Tao Te Ching calls the name that cannot be named, or the way that cannot be told.

We humans are dependent on language to think and to communicate, at least most of us are. The idea of something that is beyond linguistic representation can be unnerving. We like things labeled and properly categorized, from science to Tupperware containers in our freezers.

Nowhere is this more evident than in matters of faith. We choose one belief and reject another. We seek those who share the beliefs that we have chosen, and we form groups around these beliefs, excluding those who don’t share them. And then we argue, and even fight, to prove by might that we are right. Chogyam Trungpa called it spiritual materialism.

It’s so important to us to believe that we have chosen the right belief that we close our minds, and even our hearts, to thoughts and people who might threaten our inner security. We organize our faith until it’s safe and tidy. Until that which cannot be named or told is lost.

I just finished a book by three women – a Jew, a Muslim, and a Christian. (A Jew, a Muslim, and a Christian walked into a bar.... No, that’s a different story.) These three women, who all lived in New York, were moved by the tragedy of 9/11 to begin a dialogue, a dialogue that was not safe or tidy. It entered the dark shadows of stereotypes and cliches, the Holocaust and the West Bank, the cross and jihad.

They called their group Faith Club, which is also the title of their book. And unlike Fight Club, the first rule of which is not to talk about Fight Club, they talked not only to each other but to their friends, families, and faith communities about Faith Club.

And what they found was their deep and true faith, not in a set of beliefs, but in the openness of their hearts and the willingness of their spirits, in the humility of not having all the answers, and in the grace of knowing that the answers weren’t so important after all.

If you can understand it, it’s not God. ~St. Augustine

related posts: Tapping of the Heart; The Way of No Way2013/10/neti-neti.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (Galen Pearl)30tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3302107831896769514.post-2192063006044495851Sun, 29 Sep 2013 19:49:00 +00002013-09-29T12:49:19.424-07:00Step 5-KindnessStep 7-CompassionGod in Drag?
<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="252" src="; width="320" />

Treat everyone you meet like God in drag. ~Ram Dass

I laughed out loud when I saw this quotation yesterday. And it reminded me of an incident that happened to me several years ago.

I was walking my dog in our neighborhood. As I strolled by one house, a woman working in her yard stopped me to admire Sadie. As she was bent over rubbing Sadie’s ears and talking doggie talk to her, a homeless man walked by pushing his rickety grocery cart piled full of who knows what. The woman jerked up suddenly and bolted for her door, calling back over her shoulder to me, “That man might be Jesus! I have to go fix him a sandwich!”

I was dumbfounded. I waited a moment for the candid camera folks to leap out of the bushes. Then I moved off in the opposite direction, marveling at the bizarre kookiness of people. But before I turned the corner, I paused and looked back at the hunched shoulders of the man shuffling off down the street, oblivious to the commotion his passing had provoked.

I guess the joke was on me after all, because I have never looked at people the same way since. Or maybe I should say I have never overlooked people the same way since. Everybody became real to me that day, imbued with divine identity. I notice people now – in the grocery store, in other cars, on the street, in the news. They all have lives. Just like me. They want the same things I want – to be happy and free from suffering. I’m quicker to smile, to nod a greeting, to send a silent blessing.

Even people who irritate me. Maybe especially people who irritate me. It’s a challenge to see the divinity in the person who cuts me off in traffic, who is rude on the phone. Sometimes I need a little help, so I tell myself, There goes a child of God, cleverly disguised as a jerk [or whatever term seems appropriate]. Irritation melts into, if not compassion, at least amusement.

My Sadie is gone now, and I miss her. But I still walk in the neighborhood, and when I pass that woman’s house, I think about our earlier encounter. Maybe that woman was Jesus. Maybe we all are.

Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. ~Hebrews 13:2

related posts: A Few Leaves; The Kindness Game2013/09/god-in-drag.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (Galen Pearl)41tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3302107831896769514.post-6472620713737642608Wed, 25 Sep 2013 04:32:00 +00002013-09-28T11:57:44.222-07:00fearStep 3-ControlwaitDo Not Enter Fear
<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="216" src="; width="320" />

Don’t push the river; it flows by itself. ~Fritz Perls

Do you ever feel like the universe is sending you a message? Like everywhere you turn you are running into the same words, or image, or experience?

For me lately, the message has been clear: Do not interfere.

This is a repeated theme in A Course in Miracles, in those exact words. I’ve also run across the same message in various wisdom teachings like the Bible, the Tao Te Ching, writings by Christian mystics, the Bhagavad-gita, and more.

The connection to my word of the year – Wait – seems obvious.

Okay, Universe, I hear you!

But it’s not that easy, is it? Even when we know that interfering is not the best course of action, we still feel compelled to do it. We rationalize it in all kinds of ways. Oh, I’m just helping things along. It’s for his own good. If I don’t do it, it won’t get done. I’m only trying to keep this from getting worse. I’m being a good friend [parent, spouse, coworker, child]. I’m sure I’ve used all of these reasons at one time or another. I still do!

But isn’t it true that sometimes we do need to act, sometimes on someone else’s behalf? Sure. So how do I tell the difference between interfering and acting appropriately? When is it, using the term from Buddhism, “right action”?

The answer is in the words: Do not interfere. If you say it out loud, it sounds like “Do not enter fear.” Do not interfere. Do not enter fear. Oohhhh.

If I act because I am anxious, because I am uncomfortable, because I want to escape my agitation, because I am spinning out dire scenarios, because I want, as the airline commercial says, to get away, then my actions are really about me, about my fear and my desire to feel safe. I am entering fear and I am interfering.

In contrast, when I stay centered and not reactive to fear, I’m more likely to respond to a situation appropriately rather than trying to control something, or someone, I can’t control. That might mean acting or not acting, but in either case, I am not interfering.

So “do not interfere” is my current message from the universe. What about you? Have you gotten a message lately?

There is a time for everything, and a season for every purpose under Heaven. ~Ecclesiastes 3:1

related posts: Letting Go; The Things I Cannot Change2013/09/do-not-enter-fear.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (Galen Pearl)34tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3302107831896769514.post-2837281660754393767Fri, 20 Sep 2013 03:47:00 +00002013-09-24T21:32:31.537-07:00habitsshineStep 5-KindnessQuick and Easy Joy Habits
<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="; width="320" />

And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. ~Marianne Williamson

Thanks to <a href="; target="_blank">Vidya Sury and to <a href="; target="_blank">Elle for reminding me of quick and easy joy habits we can incorporate into our daily lives without any fuss and bother. These habits will not add any burden to your busy schedule. You don’t have to practice them to get good at them – we all start out as experts!

Here are theirs, with a couple of my own thrown in.

1. Compliment someone. Someone once leaned over to me in a meeting and told me that I have a beautiful smile. It made my day. Heck, it made my week. And guess what – now I smile a LOT!

2. Smile at someone. See the smooth segue from the last one? The physical act of smiling sends messages to our brains that we are happy. And smiling is contagious.

3. Belly breathe. Just as smiling tells our brains that we are happy, belly breathing (breathing deeply into your abdomen) tells our brains that we are safe. It interrupts the chronic stress cycle that shallow chest breathing creates, and helps us relax and be present.

4. Thank someone. Thanking anyone is great. Thanking someone we often overlook is even greater. Thank someone in your family. Thank a person who serves you or helps you in some way – a cashier, a first responder, a receptionist, a sanitation worker, a restaurant server, a courtesy clerk. So many opportunities throughout the day to express our appreciation.

5. Encourage someone. Let someone know with a few words that you believe in them, support them, are proud of them. Many of us remember decades later a teacher or a neighbor or an older relative who said something encouraging to us when were young. A few words can have lasting impact on someone of any age.

Like I said, easy and quick.

And for your entertainment, enjoy this video that someone sent me awhile back. I can’t remember who it was now, but if it was you, please let me know in a comment. And no matter who it was, thank you!

<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='; frameborder='0'>

related posts: Breathing Like a Baby; Make Someone’s Day2013/09/quick-and-easy-joy-habits.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (Galen Pearl)24tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3302107831896769514.post-4726583417531371465Mon, 16 Sep 2013 03:26:00 +00002013-09-15T20:26:11.310-07:00fearStep 3-ControlyieldBe Careful What You Wish For
<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="210" src="; width="320" />

Life is what happens when you are busy making other plans. ~John Lennon

I’ll start by saying that this is NOT the post I was planning to write today. Where to start? I’ll start with rats. I have rats in my attic. No, I’m not speaking metaphorically. Real rats. In my attic.

It started with a soft scrabbling sound above the ceiling in the kitchen. I thought it was a squirrel. I called the ecological, humane pest control company. Eric, the technician, found a hole chewed under the eave above my front door. Hoping the squirrel was outside, he sealed the hole and set a live trap in the attic just in case. We waited.

More scrabbling ... and chewing. Eric changed his opinion and set rat traps in the attic. I pondered my preference for trapping squirrels live and relocating them alongside my willingness to kill rats. One of life’s mysteries.

More waiting. This went on for several weeks. They chewed through the sealed hole, came and went as they pleased, and partied at night till I was sleeping with ear plugs.

Many calls to the company. Many visit from Eric.

Meanwhile, my son’s birthday dinner was Friday night. I had presents for him. Problem – the wrapping paper was in the attic. To get to it, I would have to open the attic door and reach past several traps. I was afraid. What if I opened the door and there was a dead rat in one of the traps? Waaayyyy too disgusting for my delicate sensibilities.

So I did the reasonable thing. I went to the store and bought more wrapping paper, even though I have enough in the attic to wrap presents for the next decade. Really, what else could I do?

Saturday morning, Eric worked overtime to come for another attempt. By now I knew the names of his kids and he knew too much about what I keep hoarded in the attic. We discussed options. I was over my qualms about killing rats. I wanted a blitz attack – poison and traps. Eric discouraged the poison. They would most likely die in the house, would certainly die in the house if he resealed the hole, and it would smell bad for awhile.

I hesitated only a moment. Do it all, I instructed. Seal the hole, put out poison, and set another trap outside on the roof above the door at the resealed hole, anchored to the roof with a wire around the gutter down spout. I want them gone. Eric complied.

Late Saturday night I was in bed reading. Suddenly I heard a “thwack” and some bumping. Then all was still. I knew what had happened. Who could I call at midnight? Or even the next morning since it would be Sunday? Maybe I could just go to sleep and check it out in the morning. Maybe the rat carcass was up under the eave and out of sight, so I could wait until Eric could come on Monday. I turned out the light and tried to go to sleep. The spirit of the dead rat taunted me.

Resigned to my fate, I got up and put my robe on. I dragged myself down the stairs and to the front door. I turned the porch light on. My hand paused on the doorknob. I took a deep breath and opened the door.

Right out of a horror movie. The dead rat dangled in the trap, suspended by the wire, right in front of my face. The trap had exploded its head and there was blood and brains all over my front door, the wall, the window, and the front porch.

I thought about just closing the door and staying in my house until Monday when Eric could rescue me. But then I imagined someone coming up my front walk only to be confronted by this grisly scene. It might be a child. I couldn’t leave it there. I closed the door and sat down for a minute. The squeamishness I had felt about going into the attic to get wrapping paper just a day before now seemed ridiculous. Like life was saying to me, “Oh you think that would be gross? How about THIS?!”

So I did what I had to do. I put on rubber gloves, got a trash bag and some rags, and cleaned it all up. Yep, that was what I did on Saturday night.

Now I’m sure there are some profound insights I can glean from this freakish midnight ratcapade. But at the moment they elude me. Maybe if I take another shower....

What do you think? Any life lessons here?

related post: Night of the Skunk2013/09/be-careful-what-you-wish-for.htmlnoreply@blogger.com (Galen Pearl)60tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3302107831896769514.post-772194744667654417Tue, 10 Sep 2013 18:59:00 +00002013-09-10T11:59:24.143-07:00habitsStep 1-PermissionStep 6-JudgingClean Towels

<a href="; imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="; />
While my grandson was playing with a toy farm, I pulled some clean towels out of the dryer and started to fold them. He had other ideas.

Here is what I now know about clean towels.

You can pile them up and jump in them (at least you can if you are the size of a two year old). You can wear them like capes and run around. You can throw them on each other’s heads and play peekaboo. You can use them as blankets and pretend to go to sleep and then jump up and say good morning. You can hide little toy farm animals in them and then try to find them. You can repeat all of the above with your favorite stuffed animal.

Here is what I learned from what I now know about clean towels.

We limit things with labels. If I label this rectangular piece of cloth a towel, then it serves one function. But when I let go of that label, it can be most anything at all. When I lived overseas, those of us in the expat community realized that many of us were working at jobs that didn’t fit with how we had labeled ourselves earlier. A scientist was an author, a lawyer was a professional development consultant, a homemaker was an expert on local crafts, and a former Playboy bunny was a antiques dealer (no kidding). Those who were having the most trouble getting a job tended to be those who were the most stuck in labeling themselves.

This is especially true when we label something as a problem. I initially labeled my grandson’s towel enthusiasm as a problem because it interfered with my towel folding. When I let go of the problem label, that same enthusiasm became a delight, an opportunity, a gift.

I thought about this today when someone came to me to talk about a challenging situation with a coworker. I saw that she was labeling the situation as a problem (for which she was blaming the other person), so, remembering the towels, I expanded our discussion by dropping the problem label. Before long, she was able to see the other person’s perspective and to see the situation as an opportunity to work together with this person in a positive way. The facts did not change, but she wasn’t stuck by the label anymore and s

Most of them have the last name of a famous athlete scrawled across the back. If you aren’t a sports fan, I know you’ve seen these wearable shrines. I’ll admit, I have a few of these jerseys among my wardrobe. Wearing them makes you feel one with the player and the team. You’re showing your support by dressing as your sporting heroes. You’re displaying your respect and admiration for all they have accomplished. At times your allegiance may even transcend the sport. Maybe you are a fan of an athlete because of what they stand for off of the field as much as their play on the field. What’s troubling is, I’m paying to wear the name of a person that I will never meet. They will never know me or even care that I admire them. In fact, if I met them in person and got to know them, I probably wouldn’t like them. That seems to go with celebrity, they are often unpleasant people. This is equaled by any famous person not just athletes. Actors, politicians, and performers may have talents we admire. We wear their name and image and support their cause, but we have no relationship with them. What if we approached fandom from a different perspective? What if you went down to your local t-shirt store (do they exist?? lets pretend they do) and ordered a slew of shirts with the last name of a person you know who is facing turmoil in their lives? Imagine visiting the bedside of a friend waging war against cancer wearing a shirt emblazoned with their name on the back. You admire and respect an elder in your congregation for the advice and guidance he has given you over the years, so you splay his name across your back. Real people you know and have a relationship with that deserve your respect and admiration. To carry it further, what if you plastered the name of your Savior across everything you wore? We are often proud to wear the colors of our favorite teams, but less comfortable wearing our faith on our back. We don’t backdown when proudly sporting our team’s jersey at an unfriendly away game, but do we do the same in a world which is unfriendly turf to all who love God? Are we afraid to proudly show our true colors, who we are deep down, far beyond a sports fan… a Jesus fan? I have no dispute with sports fans, I’m one myself. When I spend $75 to show my love for an athletic club I’m telling the world that my team is important to me. Isn’t it more important that I tell the world that Jesus is the most important thing to me? After all, He is someone I will meet one day and He knows the number of hairs on my head. This is bigger that what I choose to wear. This is about who I am, what I talk about, and how I support those in need. When I live for Jesus, not sports, the world we see my true colors and I might just have a chance of recruiting some more players to His team. How do you show your support for His team? /jersey.html/feed 2 Losing Your Grip on Life? Do you ever want to throw your hands in the air and give up… just walk away and find a dark corner to hide in? You’re not alone. We all face periods of discouragement. Spans of time when things just aren’t going right. Days when we wish we could go back to bed. Strife and turmoil ridden weeks when success seems desperately out of reach. Navigating these turbulent waves appears impossible. Our boat is taking on water and there is no land in sight. The seas get rougher by the minute and the anxiety is crippling. A desperate scan of the horizon reveals no hope. Seemingly, it’s inevitable that we will go down with the ship and be left to drown at the bottom of the sea of life. Life’s storms are turning points. The decisions we make when facing adversity will alter the course of our lives and the lives of those we love. These times that try our souls make or break us. But, real strength is only gained when muscles are pushed to their breaking point. Iron is sharpened not by a soft bed of moss, but by iron. Perseverance must be our watchword. We must maintain emotional acuity if we hope to ever emerge victorious. In his masterpiece, “If” Rudyard Kipling wrote, If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn long after they are gone, And so hold on when there is nothing in you Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’ Life’s curve balls prove we can’t emerge victorious without help. Our will to “Hold on!” is provided from on high. Though we often try, we don’t have the strength to go it alone. If our life is centered on serving God in all that we do, then we have help. Paul said, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Does this mean we will never fail? No. It means we can find the strength to face anything. When you’re losing your grip on life, “Hold On” and gain strength with these four techniques. Pray. Strengthen your relationship with God. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. No matter what you are failing in, if it’s purpose is for God’s glory, He will strengthen you. Study. Strengthen your faith. Read of the battles the brave men and women of the Bible endured for God. Wonder at the perfect life of our Savior and all He bore for you. Encourage. Strengthen your relationships with others. Share what you are going through with someone. Listen to their struggles. Pray with them and gain new courage realizing others are standing with you on the front lines of life. Exercise. Strengthen your physical body. Taking care of yourself gives you the stamina physically and emotionally to soldier on for Christ. You will be healthier and better prepared for a long life in His service. If you follow this simple workout plan, you will strengthen your grip and be able to hold on to God and His plan for your life no matter what you face. How do you find the strength to hold on? /losing-grip-life-hold-on.html/feed 1 Your Money or Your Life /money-life.html /money-life.html#comments Wed, 03 Oct 2012 10:00:21 +0000 /?p=5522 Jack Benny was one of the country’s top comedians in the Golden Age of Radio. His character was a penny-pincher that rarely parted with his precious money. A routine often revisited on the show is Jack being held up by a robber. The thief demands, “Your money or your life!” Jack responds with silence. Upon the criminal repeating his command Jack cries, “I’m thinking it over!” How would you respond in a similar situation? We would all quickly give all the money we have to save our lives. But, how do you respond to this demand in your daily life. When you are called upon to serve, do you respond with your money or your life? The accounts of many charities and churches are overflowing. They have money to do great things. What they lack are enough people who are willing to devote their life in service. Throwing money at a problem is the easy solution. We leave the answers to someone else. Money can be the salve to sooth our guilty souls. We rationalize that we have made a sacrifice by giving financially not realizing that cash is often secondary to the cause. When asked the greatest commandment, Jesus replied, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” All of the Law hangs on one word… LOVE. Not money! What does this love for God demand? Is it filling the church treasury? While financial support for the church may be part of it, what God wants is for us to be about His work, which demands our LIFE… our TIME. Is that putting money in the collection each week and then leaving the heavy lifting to someone else? That doesn’t sound like loving with all of your heart, soul, and mind. That’s avoiding responsibility with money. The same way a father may spoil his children to allay his guilty conscience for not giving them the time they need. The second command is to love our neighbor… in the same way we love ourselves. How do we show love for ourselves? Buy spending time doing the things we enjoy. That’s what we are to give our neighbor… our time. It’s not just donating money when a member of our church is in need, but preparing a meal and going to their home and visiting with them. It’s not handing a struggling family $20 and quickly rushing by, but being a friend… talking and praying with them and helping them overcome the obstacles in their lives. Money will always be a necessity, but when we value it more than relationships our perspective is skewed. “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” Giving up your life has nothing to do with money and everything to do with what you value most… your time. Share this time by showing love, friendship, and support and you will accomplish far more than a fortune ever could. /money-life.html/feed 2 Perspective vs. Reality – Who Wins? /perspective-vs-reality-wins.html /perspective-vs-reality-wins.html#respond Mon, 30 Jul 2012 10:00:37 +0000 /?p=3889 A cursory evaluation of the world we live in is terrifying. Everywhere we look, it seems, we see man and nature racing against one other for one purpose… to kill us. Death is ushered into life through sociopaths, terrorists, and natural disasters. It makes some of us want to hole-up in the safety of our homes, until we hear of the latest home invasion. Our perspective becomes skewed. There is no safe room. Every place and every person are a threat to our lives. We become consumed with “what if” and reject “what is.” If we allow our perspective and reality to battle “Mano-a-Mano”, who emerges the victor? Who lasts the 10 rounds and comes out on top? Usually… perspective. Our inaccurate perspective becomes reality in our eyes. Every stranger is a killer, every foreigner a terrorist, and every storm cloud a tornado. We shatter our rose-colored glasses and examine the world through a magnifying glass. We enlarge the bad and myopically overlook the good in people and nature, both blessings from God. Think about it, why are mass-murders, terrorist attacks, and natural disasters so mind-numbing to us? Because they are rare. They don’t happen every day, but when they do, they are major news items. We become transfixed and must read and watch, in horror, every detail. In turn, we begin to believe that these tragedies await us around every corner. We ignore reality. The innumerable days that have passed without incident. The kindness we have received from complete strangers, the lessons we have learned from people from far off lands, and the breathtaking handiwork that God has surrounded us with. God be praised, most of us will never be the victim of a violent crime or natural disaster. Many of us, however, fear we will. 20% of Americans worry about being murdered. From their perspective, the chances of it happening are high, but reality is only 1 in 18,690 people will become victims. The odds of becoming a terrorist victim on an airline flight are 1 in 10,408,947 yet 36% of Americans fear themselves or a family member becoming a victim of terrorism. Like an artist who is too close to his canvas and steps away to view the entire painting, aligning his perspective with reality, we need to take a step back and view life accurately. Do bad things happen every day? Yes! Does that mean they will happen to you? Absolutely not! Does that mean we throw caution to the wind? No, but irrational fear, stress, and worry lead to high blood pressure and heart disease, and possibly early death. When our perspective alters reality, we live irrational, unproductive lives. We fail to act even in the smallest ways. Our perspective is that we are just one person and there is very little we can do in our small corner of the world. We lose sight of the fact that it takes just one person to change the world, for good. If we aren’t careful, our perspective of God can be skewed in the process. We see all of the bad in the world and begin to question Him and His creation. We must never do this, because there is nothing more real than God’s Love. This indisputable fact should align your perspective with reality. Despite the problems we face every day, God loves each and every one of us and will never stop. So, when you begin to lose touch with reality through a skewed perspective, race back to the arms of God and the reality of His everlasting love. However, if the leaky valve interferes too much with normal blood flow, congestive heart failure can occur. The 4 valves of the heart control the flow of blood as it moves through the chambers of the heart. Since the heart is the distribution system of this vital substance to all parts of the body, it is essential that it is kept operating properly. Like our physical heart valves, our emotional “heart valves” regulate the flow of our affections. If these valves begin to leak, the vital flow of compassion, service, patience, and joy are interrupted. Not only is our emotional heart damaged, those that are fed by this fundamental flow suffer as well. Our heart valve leaks when we fail to channel our time, talent, and resources to where they are needed most, others. We may “leak” a dribble of ourselves to those that need us, but it isn’t enough to do them any good. While this is occurring the health of our emotional heart suffers. It’s working overtime to serve one purpose, gratifying ourselves. This may seem rewarding, but this neglect actually engorges the heart so that it demands more and more. We end up completely unhealthy. Our heart is swollen with our excesses while our other vital organs, humanity, suffer from the anemic concern they are given. This condition demands immediate treatment. Similar to the way the medical condition is approached, the leak needs to be plugged and the flow of blood needs to be channeled in the right direction. We can easily diagnose a leaky valve by simply listening to the sounds of our hearts. Place a stethoscope to your heart and listen carefully. If your conversation and time is dominated by your wants and desires, you’ve got a leaky valve. The repair of the physical aortic regurgitation will result in improved physical health. Similarly, restoring our emotional hearts will advance our spiritual health. Here are 3 Remedies for A Leaky Heart Valve: Medicine. The heart can be renewed by filling it with the restorative power of God’s word. When we meditate on the selfless love of our Lord and Savior our hearts can be healed. Open your heart and allow the restorative power of this drug to flow through it. Repair. Through diligent prayer and constant effort we can repair the leak in our heart. This is an invasive procedure which demands deep soul searching. For this remedy to be effective, you must be willing to alter your behavior and be prepared to reexamine its health daily. Replacement. This is the most extreme treatment, but may be necessary. Your heart valve may have become so unhealthy that it needs replacement. You just might need to tear yourself down so you can be built up again. Similar to the life of Jesus, his journey wasn’t completed until his physical life was destroyed and then begun anew. When your heart is functioning properly it can effectively serve others far better than yourself. Monitor it daily to make sure there are no leaky valves. You’ve not ... When was the last time the battered and bruised victim of a robbery blocked your path? How often do you pass a person lying on the side of the road in the clutches of death? I would guess, depending on where you live, this has never happened to you. You’ve not had to choose between helping the victim of a violent crime and passing on the other side of the street. Aiding a person in this situation is the perfect example of showing love to your neighbor. Taking the time and risk to help is true sacrifice and the ultimate fulfillment of Jesus’ admonition. It is love in action. Society has evolved dramatically since Jesus first shared the Parable of the Good Samaritan. Most of us don’t journey on foot through wilderness and expose ourselves to bands of robbers. We travel in the safety of our locked cars, or in the company of hundreds of commuters on public transportation. Even if there is a problem, help is usually nearby and we can leave the helpless in the hands of the police or some other form of public assistance. It seems, opportunities to love our neighbor are dwindling. Our Great Society has taken care of our problems. Is there anything an individual can do to aide his neighbor anymore? Of course there is! In fact, it has never been easier. Even as relationships continue to fragment as we isolate ourselves from one another in the comfort of our homes, there are more opportunities for us to use modern technology to love our neighbors. Here are 3 ways to use technology to expand your neighborhood and serve more. 1. Financial support – Fundraising websites have made it convenient and secure to help people financially across the world. The days of extended correspondence and writing checks and waiting for them to clear are fading in the rear view mirror. Almost instantaneously, a need can be shared and money can be raised. It may not even be someone we know directly, but we can become a member of their tribe through a common connection. We can help a neighbor we have never met and may never know. 2. Awareness – Social tools like email, Facebook, and Twitter have simplified communicating needs to multiple people at one time. Depending on the number of contacts or “friends” you have, you can share a need with hundreds of people with one click. This opens the door for others to serve in areas they would never know of otherwise. You can love your neighbor simply by informing people about a need. 3. Adoption – There have always been an abundance of orphans needing loving homes. In the United States, we are blessed with a system that ensures these children have a safe place to stay and plenty to eat. Although less than ideal, they are at least protected and off the streets. Most children across the world don’t enjoy this luxury. Many live in filthy conditions with little food and even less love. It has never been easier to reach an orphan in a third world country and make them a part of your home. Travel is now relatively easy to destinations that were once near impossible to reach. We can work through the safety of adoption service websites and view pictures of the children in need. As Jesus concluded the parable of the Good Samaritan he asked the lawyer, “So which of these do you think was a neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?” He answered, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.” Today, there are so many ways to show mercy… so many ways to use technology to love our neighbors. Find one that fits you and get to work. Your community will grow and you will have neighbors all over the world. What other ways can you use technology to show mercy on your neighbor? /3-ways-love-neighbor-technology.html/feed 0 There is No Freedom, We are All Slaves /freedom-slaves.html /freedom-slaves.html#comments Mon, 02 Jul 2012 10:00:17 +0000 /?p=3847 There is no freedom in life. As much as the patriots of our great land may deny it, life is about servitude. We are bound as slaves in our mortal coils. We have no choice. Man’s inclination is certainly not to be anyone’s servant. Much blood has been shed for independence and liberty. Brother has killed brother over the very concept of slavery and its consequences. But God makes it clear that our time on His great blue marble is captivity. We are each obligated to bondage, but the good news is, we can choose our master. We can select who we are bound to and who we serve. We are not forced into the relationship. In fact we have been purchased by our true Master. A great price has been paid, but many run away from Him to serve another that makes empty promises of freedom, rights, and tolerance. Our true Master has one simple promise, life everlasting. The other, a great liar, promises a temporary life of fulfillment, pleasure, and satisfaction, but his reward for your service is eternal death: permanent separation from your true Master and from His promises of eternity with Him. Our true Master expects hard work, dedication, and our undying commitment. He is honest and tells us how difficult the work will be. The other promises a life of ease and riches. Not only can he not deliver what he promises, his service results in great dissatisfaction, depression, and misery. Everyday we have the choice of who we will serve. No one binds us in chains and forces us to bow the knee in front of them, but our decision can bind us. It is our choice who we kneel before, but you better believe we submit to one or the other. We either yield to the will of our true Master or abandon Him and run to the other. We bow before him as he promises all our heart desires. The wiles in his armory can even trick us into thinking we are serving the true Master by corrupting His message. Like an evil advisor we listen to him telling us what God expects, wants, or offers, rather than going to the Source and finding out what He desires, deserves, and promises… all clever manipulation. Our loyalty will be seen in our actions. Or service to our true Master will result in serving others. We will live to serve. Ministry to the other will result in living only to ourselves. Jesus makes it clear there is no middle ground. “No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” You must choose this day whom you will serve. Who will it be? How do you find joy in your service to your true Master? /freedom-slaves.html/feed 2 7 Kinds of Suffering You Can Stop /suffering-you-can-stop.html /suffering-you-can-stop.html#respond Mon, 25 Jun 2012 10:00:43 +0000 /?p=3803 “Please, stop!” How often do you hear these words? I hear them most often when I’m doing what I call singing, and usually utter them when my boys are tearing the house apart. It certainly has a negative connotation. Something is annoying us and we want it to cease and desist, immediately, so we share our opinion, often accompanied with yelling. The please portion is not a requirement. In fact, it’s probably rarely used. It’s an additional word that prolongs the suffering, so we shorten it to just “STOP!” It may be impolite, but we get our point across in one simple word. This curt phrase has positive applications as well. There’s tremendous suffering in our communities that we have within our power to quell. All it takes is for us to act. Here’s a list of 7 kinds of suffering people you know are dealing with, along with an extra bonus of solutions to the problems. Please, stop… 1. Hunger – In your community, there are thousands of people without the basic needs of life. You can fill several empty stomachs with a small donation. Better yet, you can fill those same hearts with the food that will never leave them hungry. Share the Good News of Jesus with those with famished souls. 2. Loneliness – Be a friend to the friendless. We all know people who have no one to talk with. Take time and show them you care. While you’re at it, introduce them to a friend who will never leave their side, Jesus. 3. Homelessness – Homelessness is not just for the outcasts of society any more. People in your neighborhood and those you sit next to at work are facing foreclosure. Open you home to them, provide them with a place to stay while they get back on their feet. Bring them into your church family. Give them a refuge from the perils of life. 4. Fear – Uncertainty in life can be paralyzing. When we know there’s hope for the future we sleep better at night. Give someone promise for tomorrow. Share your blessings. Relieve their fear by sharing the joy that comes from knowing the Lord. 5. Depression – One of the the great pandemics of society today is depression. The stress of life becomes overwhelming and many see no hope for the future. Help people navigate this storm by giving them perspective. Although they may be in the midst of a downpour, help them see the silver lining in the clouds. Give them hope for tomorrow in the promise of a glorious eternity with Jesus Christ. 6. Strife – We all have the friend to whom bad things always happen. It seems if something can go wrong it always happens to them. Their life is filled with turmoil and trouble. Provide a place of stability for them. Be a rock they can lean on and help them to stand by providing a firm foundation of friendship. Show them the peace that comes from the hand of Almighty God. 7. Doubt – Like fear, doubt, leaves people dreading tomorrow. They begin to ponder the meaning of life and if they serve any purpose. Suicide may even creep into their thoughts as they see no reason in living another day. Show them their value in your life and the lives of those around them. Help them understand life is most gratifying when we are serving others. Teach them that God knows them personally and how in Him each day has new meaning. Look at the suffering around you and shout, “Please, Stop!” It’s within your power to change lives and change the world. What else can you do to stop the pain in peoples’ lives? /suffering-you-can-stop.html/feed 0 Are Your Relationships Focused on the “Big Fish”? /big-one.html /big-one.html#respond Mon, 18 Jun 2012 10:00:25 +0000 /?p=3779 Our desire is usually for the biggest and the best. We have been convinced by advertising and the world around us to never settle, always look for something bigger and better. This is how my boys and I approach fishing. Every time we hit the pond we hope to reel in a really big fish. Unfortunately, we haven’t hooked that trophy bass yet, so we are always looking for new techniques, baits, and locations to help us reel in larger fish. Still, most of our catches are pretty small. Life is a lot like fishing. Whether we recognize it or not, we are always casting our line of relationship. Each person we encounter decides whether to take our bait or move on to something more tempting. We are always hoping to reel in a “big fish”, but they are few and far between. These “big fish” are the friendships that we deem rewarding because of what they provide to us. They usually involve little work and lots of fun. We like our bonds to be pleasant, free of turmoil and trauma. Often, unintentionally, we hook people we measure as “small fish.” A relationship begins to develop that we weren’t looking for. It’s takes up a lot of our time and is unpleasant. Maybe the person is too needy and we don’t want to take time to help with their problems. We relate briefly, but then seek to throw them back in the pond as quickly as we can. We determine our time is better spent somewhere else: with the “big fish” we have already caught, or out seeking a better catch. We seek relationships where we can receive rather than give. However, those “small fish” that grab hold of our lines have an acute need for strong, giving relationships. They have troubles in their lives they don’t know how to deal with. They are hoping desperately that we will help. Your bait was appealing and they have grabbed on and won’t let go. Are you avoiding these “small fish” so you can focus on the “trophies” you already have on your wall? Are you releasing despondent people that need your companionship because the affiliation lacks a pleasant fragrance? Are you focusing on relationships that give rather than take? Life’s not about what we need, it’s about who needs us… a life we can touch by casting in their direction. We need to reel in those fish that need us and grow the relationship into one we can proudly display. When we focus on our needs, the needs of others go unmet. We can miss opportunities to change peoples lives and help them grow. Keep the fish you catch, despite their size. Feed them. Nurture them. Help them grow into trophies. Then, teach them to fish. Show them mercy, so they can go out and do likewise. How do you nurture the “small fish” you reel in? /big-one.html/feed 0 Is God Your Backup Plan? /god-backup-plan.html /god-backup-plan.html#respond Mon, 11 Jun 2012 10:00:11 +0000 /?p=3740 I’m very cautious when it comes to my electronic files. Having a hard drive crash will make you that way. I meticulously backup my files to ensure I am protected in case of a computer nightmare. I rely on my primary hard drive for accessing and saving my daily work. I trust that it will operate properly, but not completely, that’s why I have a backup. I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve had a failure, but those were catastrophic times. I didn’t always have backups to save the day. My backup is just that, a place to go in case of emergency. My first resort is my primary drive, if that fails, I access my back-up and life is rosy again. I’ve got a backup plan in place. Is God your backup plan? Do you turn to Him only in case of emergency? Too many of us rely on ourselves or other people rather than on God as a first line of defense in this world. We may not even consider God until things become dire and we need a backup to restore order to the lives we have crashed. We turn to doctors to repair our broken bodies, counselors to mend our battered marriages, and self-help books to save our bankrupt spirits. Then, if these things don’t work, we turn to God. That, my friends, makes God our back-up. If we can’t fix our problem or if we can’t find someone else who can, then we turn to God. We make Him the “In Case of Emergency” alarm on the wall. When our problems become too big, we pull the alarm hoping to have Him rush in to our rescue. Don’t get me wrong, medical science can do wondrous things, counselors can provide great advice, and the experience of man is a great resource, but none of them trump God. God should be our primary source for restoration, repair, and salvation. Long before and long after man and his solutions is God. As Genesis 1:1 tells us, “In the beginning, God…” Bring this powerful statement into your life each day and gain reassurance in the existence and power of God as your first option. Dwell on these things: 1. In the Past, God… Meditate on what God has done. Look at how He has gotten you through the times your life has crashed. 2. In the Present, God… Consider what God is actively doing in your life now. The new day He has granted and the air with which your lungs continually swell. 3. In the future, God… Put tomorrow in God’s hands. Worry only begats more worry. The sooner we learn to trust God and His plan for our lives, our primary hard drive, the better off we will be. Never relegate God to the roll of back-up in your life. Keep Him in the foreground and the troubles of life will fade into the background. They will become unimportant when compared to His power and love. Let go and let God. My brother decided, after years of sharing a room with me, he wanted his own place. Now, that place was just across the hall, but it was a million miles away to me. I was heartbroken. What had I done? Why wouldn’t he want to go on living with me forever? The delusions of a younger brother, I know, but it was agonizing. Now, I hadn’t done anything. My brother still loved me, as much as a pre-teen boy can love his adoring younger brother, but he wanted his own room. One of the luxuries of our modern age is space. Not the far reaching universe explored by daring astronauts, “personal space”… what my brother wanted. Just a couple of generations ago, families, even extended families, lived in homes composed of one large room. Everyone was very close, physically, there was very little privacy, and almost everything was shared… from clothes and shoes to chairs and beds. You always had someone next to you, invading your personal space. This idea of “space” is a relatively new concept. It’s a product of our blessings. As we attain more, we spread out and want the independent area to do our own thing. In essence, the more we acquire, the further removed we become. Most people I know dream of a day when they can have enough money to move out of the suburbs and get some land. They are tired of the zero-lot lined subdivisions or apartments in which so many of us live. They want to get away from the crowds, from the people, and be out on their own. They don’t want isolation, they just want to be able to chose when to invite people into their world, their space, and when to keep them out. How many people do you know who buy a big house on a large tract of land so they can “entertain”, yet, they never do? Being hospitable and interacting takes a lot of work, especially when you have a big house to prepare and clean afterward. It’s not like having the neighbors over for coffee, everything become a big production. This reverse of this concept was recently a reality for me. My family attended a conference that required us to share a one-room hotel room and, worse yet, one bathroom. I was really dreading this. I just knew we would drive each other crazy, but it was actually wonderful. We were together, in one small room, at the dawn and close of each day. We talked and laughed and no one was able to go to their room and close the door. There was no personal space, no isolation. We shared everything, a TV, a bathroom, and beds. We grew closer emotionally through the physical proximity. These few days helped me realize this concept of having our own space is driving a wedge in our relationships. Our efforts to be by ourselves keeps us from intimately knowing those around us, from sharing the defeats and victories in our lives, and prevents us from serving one another. How can we reach those that need us most, physically and spiritually, if we are separating ourselves? As we are blessed, we need to think of greater ways to serve others, bring us closer, rather that spreading out. This will mean less personal space and independence, but will reap greater personal rewards than an empty 50 room mansion ever will. How do you balance personal space with building relationships? /give-space.html/feed 0 Life is Good? Depending on the day, depending on your mood, your answer may vary. Each day we live, life presents new opportunities and challenges. One day is filled with joy and celebration, while the next is beset with grief and mourning. That’s life… through and through. We don’t control the assignments life hands us. We wake up in the morning and our inbox is full. We can’t go through the paperwork and pull out the things we want to face and throw the others in the trash. We have to deal with the good and the bad. It can often seem that the requirements of each day are insurmountable. Day after day, the burden becomes heavier until we are physically stooped under its weight. Our attitude and outlook begins to tarnish. Sunny days are filled with rain. Dark clouds hover over us wherever we go. We grow negative, pessimistic, and angry toward life. We are consumed with what is wrong, not what has gone right. We are like the Children of Israel after God had performed wondrous signs and freed them from their captivity. We complain and obsess over the journey ahead forgetting who delivered us to this point in our life. Our faith is evaporated. We refuse to look at what God has done and continues to do, we myopically focus on our current condition and say, “Why me?” We may not have control over the lemons we are handed in life, but we determine what we do with them. We can bite into life and pucker at it’s bitter taste or sweeten a sour situation with the proper outlook and make life more palatable. Effective living is all about attitude, perspective, and most importantly faith. If we wake up each morning with a heart of acceptance, understanding our purpose in life and God’s plan for us, we can better handle the challenges we face. Start each day completing the sentence in a uplifting manner. There is a bumper sticker I like that states it pretty simply… Life is Good. After all, life comes from God. We read in Genesis 1 that looking upon his creation he saw that it was VERY GOOD. Who are we to question Him and the works of His hand? This needs to be the vision for our lives. Go out and make it good. It’s within your power, no matter your situation, to make life good. Prioritize your perspective and order your life properly.

But here is a part of the story that is being largely overlooked; and it is grotesque and gruesome. Here is the report from Health Impact News:Now that we have a full year of injecting people with an experimental gene altering shot for COVID-19, we can conclusively state that this is most definitely a weapon of mass destruction, as it not only kills and cripples people in the present, but it destroys unborn children in the womb as well, and is most likely making an entire generation of child-bearing aged females infertile. And the facts that support this statement are found in the government’s own database of Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS), as incomplete as that data set is.To arrive at the number of fetal deaths recorded in VAERS I had to test several different searches on listed “symptoms” and then see if the search results documented fetal deaths, since there is no demographic for “fetal deaths.”The following is the current list of “symptoms” in VAERS that reveals fetal deaths: Aborted pregnancyAbortionAbortion completeAbortion complicatedAbortion earlyAbortion incompleteAbortion inducedAbortion induced incompleteAbortion lateAbortion missedAbortion of ectopic pregnancyAbortion spontaneousAbortion spontaneous completeAbortion spontaneous incompleteEctopic pregnancyEctopic pregnancy terminationEctopic pregnancy with contraceptive deviceFoetal cardiac arrestFoetal deathPremature baby deathPremature deliveryRuptured ectopic pregnancyStillbirthThis list may not be exhaustive. (Source.)Using the under-reporting multiplier of 41X, the truer number of fetal deaths following COVID-19 injections becomes 129,027 fetal deaths.Using the under-reporting multiplier of 41X, we have 876,662 deaths after the COVID-19 shots, and that is in addition to the 129,027 fetal deaths.THAT’S OVER 1 MILLION DEATHS IN JUST THE FIRST YEAR OF THE COVID-19 “VACCINES”!You don’t believe it? Just look around you at the so-called “supply chain” bottlenecks that are getting worse, not better, and understand that there is NOT a shortage of products, but a shortage of HUMAN LABOR!Using the “apples to apples” analysis of the VAERS data, I performed the exact same search on the symptoms listed above for all FDA-approved vaccines in the database prior to December, 2020, which is the month the first two COVID-19 shots were issued emergency use authorization. That search returned a value of 2,479 fetal deaths following ALL vaccines for the previous 31 years, or an average of about 80 fetal deaths per year. (Source.)*Fetal deaths following FDA-approved vaccines: 80 per year*Fetal deaths following experimental COVID-19 shots in first year: 3,147That’s a 3,834% increase in fetal deaths, using just the government data reported in VAERS.Stop calling this a “conspiracy theory” and wake up!This is population reduction planning. This is genocide. These are crimes against humanity.THIS IS PURE EVIL!EVIL is exactly what it is! As I keep saying: The entire Covid narrative is a devilish antichrist attack against the lives and liberties of all humanity. The sheer size and scope of the Covid tyranny proves that the source is supernatural: satanically supernatural.Obviously, we have only begun to see the vast numbers of people who will eventually die from these kill shots, as it will take months and even years for some people to succumb to the experimental gene therapy drugs—but succumb they will. But the focus of the report above magnifies another element of the fallout from these foul and felonious pharmaceuticals: The Covid shots are sterilizing a generation.Young women are mostly not aware that they have been sterilized, and both they and their young husbands will learn the shocking truth a few years down the road. And, at this point, we are not even yet aware of how the shots may be affecting the ability of young men to reproduce. But we have already read reports of how the U.S. birth rate has dropped significantly since the shots were rolled out. Here is a report from the U.S. Census Bureau:The U.S. population grew at a slower rate in 2021 than in any other year since the founding of the nation, based on historical decennial censuses and annual population estimates. The year 2021 is the first time since 1937 that the U.S. population grew by fewer than one million people, featuring the lowest numeric growth since at least 1900, when the Census Bureau began annual population estimates. When you think about it, this is a staggering report. Remember that immigration is at an all-time high in this country—adding multiple millions of people to the population. For the overall population to increase by LESS than one million means that the death rate—and non-birth rate—in 2021 skyrocketed beyond historical measures. And the only thing that could have contributed to this alarming anomaly was the Covid “vaccine” rollout. The long-term psychological, emotional and spiritual trauma being caused by these demonic drugs is both incalculable and unfathomable. Heart-wrenching doesn’t begin to describe it.See More Sun, 20 Mar 2022 17:42:34 +0000 1120153808 Less Prone favorited Sweettina2's blog post Covid Shots: Sterilizing An Entire Generation Less Prone favorited Sweettina2's blog post Covid Shots: Sterilizing An Entire Generation Sun, 20 Mar 2022 17:42:29 +0000 1118200718 cheeki kea commented on Sweettina2's blog post Covid Shots: Sterilizing An Entire Generation cheeki kea commented on Sweettina2's blog post Covid Shots: Sterilizing An Entire Generation Sun, 30 Jan 2022 07:11:11 +0000

Don’t forget your Osterhase Eggs!!EostreThe Easter Bunny, ah, is not ‘bunny’ or 'Bunnywabbit' at all, but is actually an Hare. The Hare was the sacred animal of Eostre [or Oestra or Ostera], the ancient Teutonic Goddess of the Spring Moon. At the time of the vernal equinox [March or April] the hares are famed for going ‘mad as a March Hare', and it was at this time of the year that out of character for its species, one of Eostre’s hares laid an egg.Not just any old egg, for this was the Egg of a New Life - the Eostre Egg.From Kit Williams - Masquerade, that made me and 1000's of others dig up country Manor lawns, golf courses and wherever we thought the "Golden hare" was buried!Though isn't Easter a Christian festival marking Jesus Christ’s resurrection after dying on the cross, and not a ceremony to a Pagan hare-headed goddess?Well of course it is, as actually it’s both.[Please note, for some reason 'advertising', certain words seem to be getting highlighted in red and underlined. - I have tried erasing them and retyping and again in edit mode, but them it seems to randomly select another word? - So do ignore them, as you'll see if you place your cursor on the word, up pops an advert, which has fuck all to do with me, and I'm not on any commission!]Synod of WhitbyAfter much debate at the Synod of Whitby in the 5th Century, the ‘Christian Easter’ is destined to fall roughly around the same time as the ‘Pagan Easter’ due to its association to the Judaic Passover, - which is also fixed by the lunar cycle. Both these festivals could also be said to reflect new life, either Christ’s return from the dead or the blossom and birth of Spring. So with that in mind, it was not too much of a stretch of the imagination for the "Christian Church" to merge both festivals together. And this is what is known as ‘assimilation’ and was a habit frequently employed in those times to ease and encourage, rather than to force it down the throats in their conversion of wild heathens that trod these lands.Easter - The East-Star, is all about fertility, reborn, rebirth and the Lions Paw and all that; “...the raising of Hiram Abif” in Freemasonry, - what Faberge's eggs symbolise and why Lady Gaga came on stage in an “egg”.Rebirth of Hiram AbifLady Gaga goes to work in an Egg Like I say, it's not really a Rabbit, as pagan tradition fits more comfortably with the Hare, for “eggs”, like hares and rabbits are also fertility symbols of ancient times. Since birds lay eggs and hares and rabbits give birth to large litters in the early spring, these became symbols of the rising fertility of the earth at the Vernal Equinox. The Vernal EquinoxThe origins of an egg-laying bunny wabbit in the USA came about in the 18th century, when German immigrants in the Pennsylvania Dutch area told their children about the "Osterhas", also spelt “Osterhase", ‘Hase’ means "hare", and in Northwest European folklore, the "Easter Bunny" indeed is a hare, not a rabbit.Has, Has, Osterhas - Musik: Volkslied - Text: Paula Dehmel [1862-1918]Has, Has, Easter Bunny, We do not want to wait any longer. He was once accompanied by strange and ill-tempered dwarves such as Knecht Ruprecht and Balck Peter, who would whip impatient, greedy and badly-behaved children with birch-wood canes.St. Nicholas and Black Peter..."Dave, is that you Dave, Dave..."Papa Lazarous - "Hello Dave" from the series 'League of Gentlemen'Knecht RuprechtIn America and in modern day in general, there’s been what we could call a rather misconception about the Christmas character that is largely unrecognised, as Knecht Ruprecht, is the scary and even sinister companion to Saint Nicholas. The red cloak of Saint NichlosWhat does Ruprecht do with that rod of his? Is this not where the origins and traditions of corporal punishment, such as the Birch on the Isle of Man, or the Cane at school came from?As he beats children who have been bad, naughty and not that very nice!Knecht RuprechtKnecht Ruprecht, who has different personas in different nations. In some eastern European countries Knecht Ruprecht is called "Krampus", an horned beast, - and perhaps where we get the term; "He's got the horn", or is that a gun in his pocket"?Bush and other world leaders love giving it the Krampus greeting!!The KallikantzaroiThe Kallikantzaroi, are a kind of deformed Greek fairy/ies that appear during the 12 days of Christmas '...my true love said to me...; At night they make a procession through the streets in good old Rodeo fashion riding on animals or chickens backs. They are the size of small children, but monstrous little buggers with oversized heads, tusks and other attributes of animals - and the film; Gremlins comes to mind. They will torment those they encounter, though they finally leave at the Epiphany, to return the following Christmas!"Only Coca-Cola" - "That dam Cocaine goes everywhere...slurp!Modern day Santa Claus has been so watered down, it's like American beer, as we actually love the old toad, so much so my aunty Bess often helps "Santa" empty his sack, as he's been known to have the odin, I mean odd accident, and could often be seen to shed his load! From an Odin archetype, we now have a fat Coca-Cola styled jolly old chap alongside his frightening little helper, who has been transformed into a harmless elf toy maker of Lapland, "We had to sell-out, we had no choice, have you seen the price of Raindeers" Odin KingYet there is something primal about the combination of the original version of the European Saint Nicholas and old Knecht Ruprecht, though it's said there’s a true-life message behind all this folklore, and after all it’s what gives fairy tales their influence. Children are taught that life does not always provide gifts and joy. Side by side with happiness is desperation and despair, and that on that one day we might have plenty to eat, when the next we may be starving. Appreciate it when there is plenty, for hard times are always lurking nearby, like Ruprecht with his rod of punishment, - life’s duality is indeed a hard lesson and bitter Blue or Red pill to swallow.According to the legend, and like that of Santa Claus, it’s only good children who receive “coloured eggs” in the nests they made in the form of their caps and bonnets before Easter, and like at Christmas time when an old stocking or sock is used. One of the Brothers Grimm, Jacob, wrote in 1835, of a long-standing myth in Germany itself. Grimm suggested that these derived from legends of the reconstructed continental Germanic goddess Ostara.Jacob with Shriner like Fez [1785 - 1803] & brother Wilhel Grimm [1786 - 1859] Ostara, Bunnies and Eggs; 'Sanctuaries without Walls'That it’s hardly surprising that rabbits and hares should become fertility symbols, or that their springtime mating antics should enter into realms of Easter folklore.Chocolate Easter BilbyThe Aussies have Easter Bilby’s, - Bilbies are native Australian marsupial, as they had no "European" rabbits until some idiot introduced them into the wild, and they did what they do, which is breed like rabbit's and ravaged the continent for decades.Myxomatosis is a disease discovered in 1896, in Uruguay, where it causes sporadic lethal infections in the American cottontail species (Sylvilagus sp.). The virus has spread over the entire American continent, and has become endemic in some regions. It was soon discovered that the European rabbit, (Oryctolagus cuniculi) was very sensitive to this virus, causing severe skin abscesses, infections, and ultimately death. In the 1950se, the myxomatosis virus was introduced and spread among wild rabbits in Australia, in order to reduce its population. This operation decimated almost all the wild rabbit population, except a few individuals that seemed resistant to this virus. The surviving rabbits started to reproduce offspring and colonised the country anew. In Europe, the virus spread rapidly and has now become endemic in some regions, which are populated by the European rabbit. Many Christians to this day typically dye their Easter eggs red, in recognition of the blood of the Christ, thus the renewal of life in springtime. If green in colour, it’s in honour of the new leaves and foliage emerging after the dead of winter.German Protestants wanted to retain the Catholic custom of eating coloured eggs for Easter, but did not want to introduce their children to the Catholic rite of fasting. Eggs were forbidden to Catholics during the fast of Lent, which was the reason for the abundance of eggs at Easter time, the end of Lent. Many of my Catholic "friends", do this each year, then they scoff their little appy faces off with chocey running all down their chiny chin-chins as soon as the time arrives! However my droogs, if we are trying to uncover the truth of the matter, we have to go back even further and before the likes of “Christ” was even contemplated and created by man.The “Eastern Star” in Christian tradition, is the same Star of Bethlehem, also called the Christmas Star, which revealed the birth of Jesus to the Magi, that later led them onto old Bether’s. The star appears in the nativity story of the Gospel of Matthew, where Magi "from the East" are inspired by the star to travel to Jerusalem. The Magi [and where surely the origins the word Magic derives from], are also referred to as the Three Wise Men, or Three Kings, or Kings from the East or Orient, okay droogs let's pump up the volume;"We three kings of Orient are Bearing gifts we traverse afar. Field and fountain, moor and mountain, Following yonder star. O star of wonder, star of night, Star with royal beauty bright, Westward leading, still proceeding, Guide us to thy perfect Light". The only one of the four Canonical gospels to mention the Magi, states that they came "from the East" to worship the Christ, "born King of the Jews."Though in the East, the “Magi” traditionally number twelve, and their identification as “Kings” in later Christian writings is probably linked to Psalms 72:11, “May all kings fall down before him”. Which is rather a nice and convenient way and clause to then slip into the writings of the Bible, that makes it perfectly acceptable that “Kings” should rule “us” on “behalf” of thy “Lord”, - how dumber can you get, yet around a billion people love to play this game, - though I don’t blame them, as they have been lied to after all.The Star of Ishtar from Al Manning's "The Magic of New Ishtar Power"All droogs have to know, as it was a long time ago and before baby Jesus was even invented; there were these bad boys and girls:Bast"What the hell you talking about, it's the Virgin Mary and Child", - well actually it's Isis and baby HorusNergalRAIshtarOsirisMardukThoth as IbisTo understand ancient “Star” symbolism, and let’s not forget the Sun is a star, our Sun is our major Star, that without it we’d all be brown bread, - is to understand the major religions. In the ancient world they used one particular symbol for the Sun’s journey through the year. And this is still a fundamental symbol used by the Babylonian Masonic Brotherhood whom too are of course part of the Catholic Church. It symbolised both the Phoenician depictions of Barati and was on the shield of her British expression – Britannia, which found its way on that countries coinage. The ancients took the circle of the zodiac [a Greek word meaning animal circle] and inserted a cross to mark the four seasons. At the centre of the cross, they placed a symbol of the Sun. Many of the pre-Christian deities were also said to have been born on December 25th merely because of this symbolism, which is between December 2lst-22nd, we have the winter solstice when in the northern hemisphere, the Sun is at the lowest point of its power in the annual cycle. The ancients see this as the Sun had symbolically ‘died’. Then by December 25th, the Sun had demonstrably begun its symbolic journey back towards spring, then summer the peak period of its power. Ra the Sun GodThe ancients therefore said that the ‘Sun was born’ [the Sun of God, the Son God, which to the Egyptians is Ra], on December 25th. The Christian Christmas the ‘Son was born’ is merely a renamed Pagan festival, as indeed are all the Christian festivals. Easter is another one, as around March 25th, the old fixed date for Easter, the Sun enters the astrological sign of Aries the Ram or the Lamb, ready for the slaughter, for its this time the ancients used to sacrifice lambs because they believed this would appease and please the gods, most notably the “Sun God”, thus ensuring an abundant harvest and a jolly spring.TammuzIn ancient Babylon, Tammuz, the son of Queen Semiramis was said to have been ‘crucified’ with a lamb at his feet and his body was placed in a cave. It was through the merger of Sun worship and Christianity that the day of worship was moved to Sun-day. Every day of the week in our Roman calendar is devoted to a different pagan deity:Sun-day: the Sun Mon-day: the Moon Tues-day: Tiews (The Nordic equivalent of Mars) Wednes-day: Woden (equivalent to Mercury) Thurs-day: Thor (Equivalent to Jupiter) Fri-day: Freya (Equivalent to Venus and Aphrodite) Satur-day: Saturn Because Constantine was a Sun worshiper, he moved all worship to Sunday, forbidding Christians and Jews to worship on the Sabbath. Today the church has been so indoctrinated into this practice that they refer to Sunday as the Sabbath day. This is but one more example of the corruptions of Babylon. The corruptions of Christianity due to its merger with Sun worship are many, and few realise the extent of them. Many Christians speak of “Sun-day worship” and “Sun-day school,” not realising the origin and meaning of what it is they are saying. Even depictions of the Christ bear the marks of Sun worship. Jesus - No, it's Apollo This above picture is easily mistaken as a painting of Christ, I always thought that's who it must be, or some Saint. It is actually a painting of Apollo. The “solar halo,” also called a nimbus, was very common in depictions of deities that were related to the Sun and Sun worship.ApolloDue to Catholicism’s deep ties to Sun worship, symbols of the Sun are found in its abundance This is a picture of the Pope carrying what is very obviously an image of the Sun. The sacrament of the Mass observed by Catholics is rife with Sun images. Even the wafer that is supposed to represent the body of Christ is in the shape of a solar disk. It is this which is held in the center of the image above. These solar wafers were used in the observance of pagan rites. In contrast, at the Passover supper the Lord took unleavened bread and "broke" it, he tore it to pieces, and didn't not carve it into neat little thin circles that represent the Sun and pass it out to all his buddies and say; “This is My body broken for you. Eat this in remembrance of Me.” Nor did they mark this observance on Sun-day. That fish symbol you see on the back of many a "believers" car, had long been employed in pagan religions, for it was a symbol of Venus [yes that lil ol planet often refered to as the Morning Star, - Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, or just good ol Lucifer to others], as well as Bacchus. In The Two Babylons, Alexander Hyslop writes, "Icthus, or the Fish, was one of the names of Bacchus." Bacchus was another name for Tammuz, the Sun-deity. The worship of the fish deity is found in Scripture as we read of Dagon, the fish god of the Philistines. The priests of Dagon wore fish shaped hats. It is from this that the Catholics obtained the Mitre. Note that this priest of Dagon is sprinkling water, just like the Catholics do in their rituals. Did you ever stop to question where the Catholic Church gets all of its costumes and symbols? The Catholics say they trace the lineage of the popes back to Peter, yet you show me where Peter can be found dressed in such a way. Remember droogs, I'm an agnostic borderline atheist, so don't give a toss what he wore, I'm here to help you seek the truth that's all. Regarding the appearance of the Ichthus symbol in Christianity, Alexander Hyslop writes: About the very time that the Bishop of Rome was invested with the pagan title of Pontifex, the Savior began to be called Ichthys, or “the Fish,” thereby identifying Him with Dagon, or the fish-god; and that, ever since, advancing step by step, as circumstances would permit, what has gone under the name of the worship of Christ, has just been the worship of that same Babylonian divinity, with all its rites and pomp and ceremonies, precisely as in ancient Babylon. - Source: The Two Babylons, page 370. So why is it the Catholic church eats fish every Friday?Where did this custom come from? When the Constellation of the Bull [Taurus] was rising at the Equinox, folks were “washed in the blood of the bull” - The Egyptians also annually slew a sacred bull in atonement for the sins of the realm. The concept was that the blood of one god, or the symbol of that god, could cleanse the sins of many. However, after two thousand or so years the spring equinox slipped from Taurus, the Bull, into Aries, The Ram, and this heralded the birth of yet another new god, this time emerging from the Israelites.Aries taking the Bull by its horn and nose; the most sensative part of this beast of an animal and why the 'ring' it.They distinguished themselves from the bull-worshippers by using the blood of the lamb as a sacred fluid and symbol. For Moses was leading his people, chosen with lamb’s blood, to a new religion. This was the new world age marked by Aries and thus a new god was required.Let's take a bucthers hook at the Romans, they worshiped Aphrodite Salacia.Pisces began the lead position in the Zodiac around 2,000 years ago when the spring equinox heliacal rising slipped from Aries the Ram to Pisces the Fishes. However this was never a clear distinction, as Pisces is such a large constellation and its two fish reaching through the sky actually encompass the stars of Aries. The coming of the age of Pisces, the "new world order", was eagerly awaited as it was heralded by a triple conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter in Pisces in the year 6 BCE and Virgil, in his Fourth Eclogue, announced it would be the return of the Golden Age. This conjunction was the astronomical highlight of the time, eagerly awaited and then watched and was later named, in Christian mythology, the Star of Bethlehem. But the fish was an ancient symbol long before it was adopted by the new god. The Greeks incorporated the Fish as a sacred symbol through Aphrodite in her form as a fish-goddess called Aphrodite Salacia. Aphrodite Salacia - "Fish anyone?"Freya was the Scandinavian equivalent of Aphrodite.Aphrodite Salacia was a fertility goddess. The worshipers of Aphrodite ate fish on Fridays and engaged in orgies, alright some it could be argued. Fish is considered an “aphrodisiac.”, any Oysters and Champange come to mind, as does a line of Charlie, - from the name of 'Aphrodite Salacia' we also get the word “salacious,” which is defined as “intended to arouse people sexually", as one can easily get a boner under such conditions. Outside the oldest Roman Catholic church in Macon, Georgia, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. This shrine outside the church contains the Pyramid and All Seeing Eye of Freemasonry [note the sunburst behind the cross.] It includes the cross, which is a symbol of Tammuz, who is Nimrod reborn, the god of the Sun. This is signified also by the solar burst behind the Tau-cross. It has an image of Mary, who is modeled after Semiramis, the Queen of Heaven, the mother of Tammuz and wife of Nimrod. "Macon" is the French word for Mason. Both Freemasonry and Roman Catholicism trace their roots back to Babylon. The city of Macon was laid out by its Masonic founders after the street design of ancient Babylon, a fact attested on the local Chamber of Commerce, but isn't that what they say about the layout of Washington and London among many other cities."Owl! What Owl? I see no bloody Owl on the layout of Washington, you talk a load of Molochs, - must be some crazed conspiracy theorist!" When one opens ones eyes, they can clearly see the incredible influence of the Babylonians within the Catholic church, as it's found everywhere, though strange how a billion or so can't?The Rock that was Rolled from Jesus' tombRolling StonesJay Z's RocawearRockefeller, Rock n Roll, Roll Away the Stone, the Rolling Stones and even Rocawear comes to mind, as it's said that a rock was rolled away from the cave’s entrance three days later, and his body had disappeared, but no I’m not talking about “Jesus”, this is the legend of Tammuz, as that's what allegedlly happened to them as well!! You really couldn't make this kind of shit up, you really couldn't, well surely you wouldn't be able to get away with such a farce, - could you?Circa 400BCThe ancients also symbolised the Sun as a newborn baby in December, as a youth at Easter time and as an immensely powerful and strong man in the summer, whilst becoming an ageing olded man losing his power in the autumn period, then an actual old man by the time of the winter solstice.Old Father time present New Blood for the SpringThe modern depiction of ‘Old Father Time’ is a version of this event. They also symbolised the Sun as having long golden hair, the ‘rays of the sun’ which got shorter as he lost his power in the months of autumn. Now look again at the Old Testament story of ‘Samson’ = ‘Sam-sun’, he was incredibly strong and had long hair, but he lost his power when his hair was cut. Samson bringing the Masonic pillars to the ground... Samson about to lose his bacon from DelilahHis problems started when he entered the House of Delilah - the astrological ‘house’ of Virgo, the virgin, through which the Sun passes as autumn approaches, summoning his last burst of power, ‘Sam-the-Sun’, pushes down the two pillars, which are classic Masonic Brotherhood symbolism going back at least to ancient Egypt and are still used by the Freemasons today. Samson is ‘Sam Sun’ – a symbolic story of the Sun’s annual cycle. The Bibles version of Samson is purely fictitious there wasn’t really any such person. In Hebrew, Samson = the ‘God of the Sun’. To the orthodox Christian, Jesus is the only begotten Son of God who died so our Sins could be forgiven. But you will find exactly the same claims for a stream of other ‘gods’ in the ancient world ‘long before’ the name of ‘Jesus’ was even heard of. Indeed, we know his name wasn’t Jesus because that’s a Greek translation of a Hebrew name. The term ‘Son of God’ would seem to originate at least as far back as the Aryan Gothic kings of Cilicia who took the title ‘Son of the Sun God’, a tradition adopted by the Pharaohs of Egypt. ‘Jesus’ to others he was claiming to be the King of the ‘Jews’ by right of his King David bloodline. But did Jesus, Moses, Solomon and King David actually ever exist, anymore than that of Alice in Wonderland? Apart from the texts in the bible, there is not much credible evidence they actually did, so if this is the case where perhaps did they spring from and more importantly were they not more metaphoric symbols, as it’s much easier for the ‘common man’ to be able relate to by simply putting a name to a person ‘in the image of man’, than it is to name and describe a celestial body such as the Sun, as a deity or God to man, and then count on non educated people to be expected to understand complex issues such as astrology and astronomy, it far more easier to put it across as a, metaphor disguised as ‘fable, tale and story’ with the ‘once upon a time there were three kings, a virgin mother and an immaculate birth as opposed to trying and explain Equinox’s, various dates, seasons, centres of the cross, solstices etc. etc. and besides they didn’t want the ‘low life scum’ to know the truth, in fact they still don’t want ‘us’ to know the truth! And why many will scoff at this article, like as if I'm worried ;-)"Can you see Alice?" - Said the Mad March HareAh what a wonderful wonderland we live in, so with all this in mind my fellow droogs, have a lovely Eastern Star this Ēostre, though try not to go too mad!See More Sun, 31 Mar 2024 15:44:03 +0000 1135140809 Exposure favorited DTOM's discussion British Govt caught 'censoring' report that suggests it’s using drones to assassinate people Exposure favorited DTOM's discussion British Govt caught 'censoring' report that suggests it’s using drones to assassinate people Thu, 28 Dec 2023 23:20:57 +0000 1134071556 Exposure's blog post was featured Exposure's blog post was featuredCANNIBALISM - 21st CENTURY FINE DINING...Most folks think of cannibalism as something straight out of a B-Movie or Mayan and Polynesian ancient cultures and that the practice died out long ago. Though many more will be shocked to see that it’s probably as prolific today as it was when both Queen Mary II and her uncle King Charles II first too participated in such “fine cuisine.” Accounts of cannibalism date back as far as Biblical times and it’s quite obvious cannibalism was common in human societies and has been taking place since “man” first stepped onto the earth. Like many others, I too have had my share of fine dining, done the Ritz, Hilton, Ivy, Kettner’s. So I’ve tasted all types of cuisines; from sheep’s eyes to testicles, insects, snakes, eels, and basically most kinds of meats and fish dishes from around the world. Now I’ve never quite sat around a dining table and discussed what human meat would taste like, nor ever enquired for a ’Special Fried Leg.’ Though the conversation of eating another “person” has on occasion come up, say following watching a film about the survivors of the Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571, also known as the Andes flight disaster, in South America. On 13 October 1972, a chartered flight carrying 45 passengers crashed in the Andes. Only 16 survivors were rescued on 23 December 1972. Faced with starvation, the survivors ate some of the dead passengers who had been preserved in the snow. So, it’s at times like this I’ve talked about it, and questioned myself ‘What would I do in a similar life or death situation?’ I assume I would have succumbed to what those survivors of Flight 571 had to. It’s a hard call to make, and until you're in such dire straits, how can you possibly tell? But hey, this is far from sitting around a candlelight table and wondering what the hell a baby’s arm or leg may taste like - and how would it be best to prepare and cook? Suckling pig, when cooked to perfection, is indeed very succulent and tasty. And following on from what some folk, like William Seabrook, have said about what human flesh tastes like and that the Cannibal Club recommends, “The meat we serve is selected only from the young and healthy,” - then I suppose the suckling pig route would perhaps be the best way to go. But that’s just discussing the matter here; Would I want to actually eat another person? Then I’m not so sure. ‘Not so sure!’ You may gasp and ask. The reason I have to be totally honest and open is that this taboo subject of cannibalism is indeed very real, so I’m putting the questions to myself to save others from having to do so. Have I ever wondered what we [humans] taste like? - Yes. Have I ever tasted one of us? - No. Would I? - No, but... ....in particular circumstances, such as those on Flight 571, then yes, I probably would. Though I'm sure I'd feel sick in the process, as it’s more in the mind than in the taste. I understand there is a morality issue here and that's one of the reasons I decided to take a look closer at the subject. Though if someone cooked you a dish and told you it was pork or veal, then you’d very likely be none the wiser and enjoy it, unless, of course, you were a vegetarian. The Royals and Elites have long been famed for their love of lavish banquets and rich recipes. Though what is less well known, according to Dr Sugg, in his book Mummies, Cannibals and Vampires, which delves into the dark world of medicinal cannibalism, the British royals loved the taste of human flesh. As recently as the end of the 18th century, British royalty swallowed and ate parts of the human body. However, this was not a practice reserved for the monarchy only, no, as it was widespread among the well-to-do in Europe, and I take it the rest of the world, and why and when would they have stopped this practice? It's hardly as if someone is policing this "underworld" of "fine cuisine" - and that no one has stood up and declared such practices ought to be abolished. And like said, ‘Why would they stop this practice today?’Despite they were denouncing those ‘barbaric cannibals’ of the New World and calling them savages, they were themselves feasting, drinking, or wearing ground-down Egyptian mummies, human fat, flesh, bone, blood, brains or skin; -'...the finest thinnest of crackling.' Dr Sugg said, ‘The human body has been widely used as a therapeutic agent with the most popular treatments involving flesh, bone or blood.’ Whilst James I had refused to take the human skull, his grandson Charles II loved the idea so much so that he bought the recipe. Having paid £6,000 for this, he often distilled human skull himself in his private laboratory. Dr Sugg's research was featured in a Channel 4 Time Team documentary with Tony Robinson, in which they reconstructed versions of older cannibalistic medicines with the help of pigs' brains, blood, and skull, when surely all they had to do was go to The Cannibal Club. In the Channel 4 documentary - Cannibals of Stone Age: - It showed us that in the German Hamlet of Herxheim, archaeologists excavating a 7000-year-old mass grave of up to 1000 Stone Age people have concluded that the site was not a Neolithic graveyard, as previously assumed, but a killing field where hundreds of men, women, and children met a grisly fate.Scholars now believe that Stone Age Europe was much more violent than previously thought, and some scientists believe the bodies in Herxheim were murdered, cooked, and cannibalised in sacrificial rites that drew participants from hundreds of miles away. It's a possibility that calls into question much of what we thought we knew about civilisation and forces us to face the fact that cannibalism and human sacrifice may be undeniable parts of our human history. The Cannibal Club According to an article in the Financial Times by Gillian Tett, December 1, 2017In 1863, a group of Victorian men assembled in a London club. They were there to create the Cannibal Club, a so-called anthropological society that, its members hoped, would explore far-flung cultures to uncover what made humans tick, even cannibals. This might seem like a strange snapshot of long-forgotten Victorian history, but it has considerable relevance today. The club was not composed purely of professors with an academic interest in exploration. Many members belonged to the so-called Corporation of Foreign Bondholders, which was linked to the London Stock Exchange. In the 19th century, the British Empire was expanding, creating new trade and business opportunities around the globe. That prompted London financiers to extend credit to remote parts of Asia, Latin America, and Africa, as well as parts of North America."The Cannibal Club is such a source of shame that its existence has been airbrushed from most university courses." - Gillian Tett. The creepy truth of cannibalism is that it‘s never gone away. Knowing that many of the elites and royalty love to tuck into a medium-rare human butt-cheek or thigh, one can't help but wonder if following the French Revolution. (One must ponder: - 'Did any of the royals or elites get eaten in revenge, necessity, or sheer want during this period in time?) In WWI and WWII, the "food" available for their banquets must have been abundant and immense, though they are hardly going to step forward and admit that’s what they have done and still do so today. Modern-day Cannibal Club According to the proprietor of the Cannibal Club, Elspeth Blake (seen below), she states, “Cannibalism, as traditionally practised, usually shows respect to the deceased, who is desired to be reborn into the living, or offered as a worthy sacrifice to some deity. It is never our practice to debase or objectify human life. Arguments against cannibalism are typically grounded in ignorance, cultural prejudice, and nonsensical spiritual beliefs.” So, like most things in this world, it’s kept well secret and hidden behind guarded doors. Until now, that is and with the resurrection of places like the Cannibal Club, which has already been trading for over six years. We know how some folk are particular about everything in life, they want the best of this and the finest of that; that’s why the best cuts of meat of an animal can be extremely expensive. To give you an idea as to what the rich are willing to pay for "everyday" food dressed up, here's an American example: A day spent indulging in the world's most expensive meals will set you back a stonking $95,065 more than the average American household's annual income. In New York City, The Big Apple, it will cost $1,000 for a frittata at Norma's Restaurant, made with potatoes, a pound of lobster, and ten ounces of caviar. Other items on the menu include sushi wrapped in 24k gold leaf and topped with pearls, truffle salad and 'bacon-bling' - a sandwich served with black truffles, gold leaf, gold dust, and saffron. Some of the foods have such a hefty price tag because they are rare or "difficult to source" - like the Wagyu ribeye lunch at Craftsteak restaurant in New York City. This expensive cut, which costs $2,800, comes from cows raised in Hyogo, Japan, which are fed beer and are regularly massaged to make their meat extra tender. And Albarragena Jamón Iberico de Bellota, a ham that can be purchased at a London restaurant for an incredible $2,682, is made from pigs fed exclusively on acorns and roots. The pigs are then slaughtered and cured for three years before consumed by diners. The bill for all the breakfast items amounts to $5,200, and the total cost of the five-course lunch - including appetiser, first course, soup, second course and dessert - would be $63,670.The decadent dinner would cost you $31,395, and the total cost of all the dishes adds up to an eye-watering $95,065. SourceEvery meat has its own texture, flavour, aroma and taste. Smoked, and it will produce a strong, potent, full-bodied flavour that can be altered in taste according to which type of wood you use to smoke it. Slaughtered - then cooked-smoked Gorilla Bush-Meat. The same must be said about “Bush-Meat” and where there’s a huge black-market for animal meat from the jungle-bush, and of every species of animal, including primates, are slaughtered and sold. The Vietnamese and Chinese have long loved the delicacy of Monkey brains as much as many an African loves the taste of Gorilla or Chimpanzee meat.So it must go without saying; if human meat is supposed to be the sweetest and tender of all meats, especially if young, then they are going to want to prefer to eat that, as opposed to the fillet steak they have long grown weary of. Though we can see it’s a very small sector of society who participate in cannibalism, as otherwise, we wouldn’t have such mass burial sites and graveyards all over the world; and you’ll probably find it’s those who live in remote parts of the world, psychopathic serial killers or the elite who do so. Take Sagawa, a Japanese student completing an English Literature degree in Paris. He met a fellow student, shot her on June 11, 1981. After her death, he proceeded to cannibalise her over the next two days. Due to an alleged paperwork error, it allowed Sagawa to simply check himself out of a mental institution after a little more than a year in confinement. He is now a free man living in Japan! The counter argument and those in favour of cannibalism think we should eat our loved ones; that as a direct result, we wouldn’t need to produce so much meat, beef, lamb or pork, thus it will reduce carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and ozone. Elspeth BlakeThe Cannibal Club specialises in the serving-up of human flesh, described on their website, “Specialising in the preparation of human meat, the Cannibal Club in Los Angeles brings ‘the cutting edge of experimental cuisine’ to the refined palates of L.A.’s cultural elite. We celebrate artistic excellence as the natural and inevitable expression of the unbridled human spirit.” Their master chefs hail from around the world for the opportunity to practice their craft free of compromise and unbounded by convention. Their exclusive clientele includes noted filmmakers, intellectuals, and celebrities who have embraced the Enlightenment ideals of free expression and rationalism. On event nights, avant-garde performance artists, celebrated literary figures, and ground-breaking musicians entertain their guests, such as Diamanda Galas (above video), whom musicologist Susan McClary writes that, “Galas heralds a new moment in the history of musical representation.” Focusing on themes of suffering, injustice, and despair, her works are characterised by visceral shrieks and wails reminiscent of glossolalia or “tongues.” She has collaborated with Led Zeppelin and her work has appeared in such mainstream films as Natural Born Killer and Francis Ford Coppola’s Dracula. Galas, trained in the Wagner school of opera, calls her work, “…a very, very ancient form of Satanism”. The other staff of the Cannibal Club is Chef de Cuisine, Sophie Laffite (above), who regularly updates their menu with “new and daring dishes.” It’s said she gained notoriety in culinary circles when she prepared Ortolan, an endangered bird thought to represent the soul of France, for the last meal of President Francois Mitterrand in 1996, and one can’t help but wonder: what was next on the menu? Procurement; Raven Chan (above) is known as the “Service Manager and worked with Elspeth Blake and Vincent Sardi, Jr. in New York before travelling to L.A. with Blake to start Cannibal Club. As service manager, she actually procures the bodies that will be eaten. Apart from Raven Chan doing her bit, according to Elspeth Blake, their avenues of procurement vary. Most of the businesses and institutions that supply them prefer to keep those relationships discreet. On the individual level, bodies are often bequeathed to them. For some, this is a way to supplement life insurance and offset funeral expenses. For others, such as Cannibal Club member Gwendoline Fenwick, who was served to her friends and relatives at the Club in January of 2008. Blake said; “…being prepared as a meal, and thereby reborn into the bodies of the living, is an attractive alternative to the more than traditional practices; some folk bury their dead, others cremate them, - whereas in some pagan traditions they ate them in the belief they are reincarnated into the bodies of those who have eaten them and where they can continue to live and experience not just one life, but multiples. The more who eats you, the more your “own” life is expanded.” Moloch- Bohemian Grove Bohemian Grove comes to mind, though, as Satan does not exist in Judaism, Moloch does. Moloch was the pagan God of the Ammonites and Phoenicians to whom parents sacrificed their children; “extra relish on that, sir?” Though I shan’t start raising the topic of Cabalist Talmudism and blood-curdling rituals. This is strictly looking at the fundamentals of fine dining! One of the club's regular dishes is Placenta Lasagna, described as: “an otherwise traditional Lasagna with one layer of cheese substituted by minced placenta in heirloom tomato sauce, seasoned with garlic, onion, and oregano.” Without a doubt, full of nutrition.Human Placenta Apart from Sweeney Todd coming to mind, one can only guess the contents of the country cottage sounding Mrs Lovett's Meat Pies; "A delectable pot pie in a genuine puff pastry crust with locally-grown vegetables - and tender strips of meat.” Blake says, "Human flesh, the Chefs gush, and blush, when prepared by them, tastes unbelievable. Of the meats you are likely to find in stores, pork is the closest match." "The club insists that they take care to ensure that all of their meat is produced legally and ethically, with some correctness in older, more primitive cultures, that cannibalism, as traditionally practised, usually showed respect to the deceased, who is desired to be reborn into the living, or offered as a worthy sacrifice to some deity." She further states that: “It is never our practice to debase or objectify human life. Arguments against cannibalism are typically grounded in ignorance, cultural prejudice, and nonsensical spiritual beliefs.” The Question of Real Procurement? My main question to the Cannibal Club is: Under what circumstances does a person qualify to be the type of meat you wish to serve; "…selected only from the young and healthy.” Cancer of the Human Liver After all, if a person is dying and riddled with disease or pumped with intoxicating drugs or radiation, then that’s the last thing anyone would wish to digest. The same could be said about older meat, mutton dressed up as lamb. Old muscles would perhaps take on the same toughness and darkness as chicken legs can do, and that's why they’re normally sold as ‘Boilers’. So it makes me wonder, who are these people, such as Gwendoline Fenwick, making up the dishes? I appreciate that you prefer to keep those relationships discreet, though I don’t expect names. I just want to know, who are the type of people you are eating? You’ll not be going to admit; "...some could be innocent victims, such as stillbirths and freshly deceased babies. Though I should imagine, …businesses and institutions supply you, that can surely only be places like abortion clinics, doctors, hospitals, prisons, mental institutions, morgues, and funeral directors. It's said this first attack was religiously motivated, and he admitted that he and his group battered the man because he had killed his pregnant wife, sister-in-law, and her baby. CANNIBAL: Magloire (above) told the BBC how he cut into a man's leg before eating it. He said that he and a mob of 20 other Christians forced the bus driver to stop before pulling the victim out of the vehicle, stabbing him and setting him alight before taking a bite out of the victim's leg. He said, "I stabbed him in the head. I poured petrol on him. I burned him. "Then I ate his leg, the whole thing right down to the white bone." "That's why people
