As regulators accelerate the shift to all-IP networks, numbering resources are being rethought from the ground up, including who controls them, how they’re efficiently allocated and how they’re protected from abuse. The trends emerging this year point to important industry shifts that will have implications for how carriers operate and how they keep consumers safe from illegal robocalling and numbering-related scams that the FCC designates as its top consumer complaint and their top consumer protection priority. These are the three developments that highlight how providers should be thinking about numbering and resources in 2026 and what it will take to stay ahead. 1. The Rise of IPES: Carrier-Level Control for a Digital Era For VoIP and cloud communications companies looking to scale, control their network, and operate with true carrier-level authority, one designation matters more than most in 2026: Internet Protocol Enabled Services (IPES). IPES is not just a regulatory checkbox, but a structural shift in how communications businesses operate. It affects how numbering is managed, how networks are built, and how much control a provider has over the customer experience. At its core, IPES allows providers to obtain and manage their own OCN(s) and establish and maintain their own network rather than relying on intermediaries. This greater autonomy simplifies processes like number porting and SPID consolidation, improves workflows, and creates a more predictable service delivery environment. What makes IPES critically relevant in 2026 is regulatory momentum. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is actively driving transformation toward an all-IP ecosystem. On December 2, 2025, the Commission extended the comment cycle on a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) that contemplates transitioning U.S. voice telephone services fully to Internet Protocol — a fundamental shift with far-reaching implications for providers, public safety systems, and consumers alike. This initiative reflects the reality that most voice communications in the U.S. already run over packet-based IP networks such as VoIP; what remains is aligning regulatory frameworks designed for legacy TDM infrastructure with modern architecture. Any service providers serious about long-term competitiveness should pursue IPES designation now. It grants control and flexibility that legacy resellers lack, positions your company for regulatory alignment, and lays the foundation for advanced services that depend on numbering and network autonomy. 2. Canadian Thousands-Block Pooling Drives Efficient Growth Across the border, Canada is initiating one of the most consequential numbering reforms in recent memory: Thousand-Block Pooling (TBP). Traditionally, when carriers expand into new service areas, they are assigned blocks of 10,000 numbers, which is a relic from a time when telecommunications was dominated by circuit-switched PSTN networks. With the explosion of VoIP, IoT, and machine-to-machine (M2M) applications, this allocation method has become grossly inefficient, leaving vast quantities of unused numbering resources tied up unnecessarily. To combat this, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) directed the implementation of TBP in its Telecom Regulatory Policy 2024-26, mandating that carriers begin assigning telephone numbers in blocks of 1,000 rather than 10,000. This change is designed to slow down number exhaustion and prolong the lifespan of geographic numbering resources that analysts once feared could run out before 2030. The policy also includes measures to focus carriers on more responsible use of number resources and increase scrutiny on number requests. Since that decision, industry filings and staff letters show ongoing activity around implementation timelines and operational readiness, including extended industry coordination to enable testing prior to rollout. So why does it really matter? TBP reflects a broader industry imperative to make numbering assignments leaner and more reflective of real demand. For operators that depend on efficient numbering for growth or use numbers for authentication purposes, this policy lays a template for smarter resource allocation. For carriers operating in or expanding to Canada, it’s time to prepare for TBP compliance. Investing now in numbering administration systems and workflow automation that support smaller block inventories and dynamic number forecasting are key, as is adopting forecasting practices similar to those already in use in the U.S. to stay compliant and competitive. 3. The Growing Security Layer: Smarter Threats Demand Smarter Defenses One thing that’s unfortunately not going away in 2026 is fraud risk related to unwanted illegal robocalls, texts and SIM swap and porting fraud. Based on the latest SIM swap fraud reporting, the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center tracked $25,983,946 worth of losses from SIM swapping in the U.S. Globally, the numbers can be even more alarming. Cifas, the UK’s fraud prevention service, reported a 1,055% increase in SIM swap fraud cases, for a total of nearly 3,000 cases in 2024. Robocalling is where the numbers become truly staggering. U.S. consumers received more than 4 billion robocalls in December 2025 alone, with a total of nearly 52.5 billion unwanted telemarketing or scam calls reported annually. These numbers point to the fact that SIM swap, porting and robocalling fraud aren’t fringe problems; they’re multi-million-dollar threats that exploit weaknesses in validation systems. Industry research reveals that poor phone validation practices lead to widespread vulnerabilities, enabling fraud attacks that cost businesses and consumers heavily. Legacy networks that have not fully migrated to IP continue to be a weak link. According to industry reports, Tier-1 carriers that have largely adopted SIP and STIR/SHAKEN protocols deliver much higher authenticated traffic than smaller operators still reliant on antiquated infrastructure — underscoring that number security is tied to technological modernization itself. Regulators are responding too. At the end of 2025, the FCC proposed tougher standards for call labeling and authentication aimed at combating unlawful robocalls, including requirements that would improve caller identity verification and transparency. Combatting fraud will be an ongoing theme for 2026, and carriers that implement real-time validation and advanced fraud detection tied to their numbering systems are the ones who will get ahead of the problem. 10x People is Here to Help Are you navigating any new telecom challenges as a result of the changing landscape? 10x People is here to help. Transitioning to Internet Protocol Enabled Services, or IPES, isn’t just a regulatory checkbox — it’s a structural shift in how your business operates. It changes how you manage numbering, how you build your network, and how much control you have over your customer experience. If you’re evaluating what it takes to move beyond dependency on other carriers’ infrastructure, understanding IPES is the first step. What is IPES? The Internet Protocol Enabled Services (IPES) is a designation in U.S. numbering that allows Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and cloud-communications companies to operate with carrier-level authority. IPES providers gain greater control over numbering, porting and customer experience by providing telephone services over IP networks rather than legacy TDM infrastructure. Becoming IPES-certified enables a carrier to own and manage its own telephone numbers, consolidate multiple Service Provider IDs (SPIDs) into a single SPID, simplify network management and directly control number porting and routing. At its core, an IPES provider can: Obtain and manage its own Operating Company Numbers (OCN[s]) Establish and maintain its own network Directly participate in Local Number Portability (LNP) Request and manage its own telephone numbers Control its customer experience In short, it gives service providers greater operational control, scalability and compliance alignment as the industry transitions to all-IP voice networks. IPES 2026: The Latest from the FCC What makes IPES designation so critical in 2026? The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is fueling change by taking a major step toward moving the US voice telephone infrastructure to a fully IP-based system. On December 2, 2025, the Commission issued an order extending the comment cycle for its Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) aimed at transitioning voice telephone services to all Internet Protocol (IP) — a technical shift with wide-ranging implications for service providers, public safety and consumers alike. At its core, this initiative acknowledges a reality that already exists: many voice communications in the U.S. have already migrated from legacy circuit-switched networks to packet-based IP networks such as VoIP. However, regulatory frameworks built decades ago still require carriers to maintain costly, outdated infrastructure and interconnection obligations rooted in the era of copper and Time Division Multiplexing (TDM). The FCC’s NPRM seeks to change that. Benefits of Becoming an IPES For service providers, this rulemaking represents both an opportunity and a strategic inflection point. Becoming an IPES presents several key benefits for service providers: Greater control of numbering resources: Faster provisioning, fewer fallouts, and the ability to manage DIGs and LNP directly without relying on an upstream carrier. Streamlined Porting: Simplifies porting workflows, reduces errors, speeds up order handling, and improves customer experience. Streamlined inventory management: Easier ordering, cleaner telephone number records, and efficient number utilization lead to lower costs and more accurate forecasting. Improved customer experience: Direct control of the network and full telephone number lifecycle means quicker turn-ups, consistent quality, and fewer handoffs that could create delays or fallout. Ability to operate on your own network: Better margins, faster order-to-service delivery, and the flexibility to launch new features or services without carrier dependencies enables you to choose the who and the how. Scalability and geographic expansion: Operating under your own IPES designation eliminates the need for multiple OCNs or region-specific carrier relationships, making growth straightforward. Regulatory compliance control: Direct access to update EMD, and ongoing RND and NRUF reporting ensures compliance and reduces your risk because your team owns the data and the workflow. Lower operating costs: Transitioning away from TDM and legacy interconnects reduces ICA complexity, COLO/POP spend and hardware requirements. Why the shift to IPES matters Today’s Internet Protocol networks — the same underlying architecture that powers the modern internet — offer clear advantages over legacy systems. They support richer services (including video and data alongside voice), improve reliability and call quality, and enable next-generation capabilities such as enhanced 911 (NG911) that deliver location data and multimedia information to public safety answering points. The latest Voice Telephone Services report shows that traditional circuit-switched lines are a shrinking share of fixed voice subscriptions, while IP-based services dominate. Rather than having a patchwork of legacy and IP systems, the FCC is proposing a unified regulatory and technical framework to reflect this market reality and foster broader network modernization. For service providers, the transition not only showcases newer technology but removes regulatory barriers that currently force incumbent local exchange carriers (LECs) to interconnect via legacy systems under old parts of the Communications Act. The FCC is proposing to forego these outdated interconnection obligations and the related legacy interconnection requirements by December 31, 2028. What’s next The December Order extended deadlines for public input on the NPRM, giving stakeholders more time to submit comments and reply comments. Under the extended schedule: Comments were due by January 5, 2026 Reply comments were due by February 4, 2026 The FCC is also exploring whether and how related regulatory timelines for features such as caller ID authentication (e.g., STIR/SHAKEN) and NG911 transitions should align with the proposed 2028 date to avoid conflicting obligations. For forward-thinking service providers, that dialogue should start now. Understanding the technical challenges, customer impacts, and regulatory nuances of an all-IP transition will be crucial as the industry moves toward a fully modernized voice ecosystem. Ready to start talking IPES? 10x People can help. As we reflect on the NANC’s important legacy, we feel deeply grateful for the countless professionals, companies, and organizations who, alongside 10x People, lent their expertise and time to this critical body. As NANC’s chapter closes, we’re left both proud of the progress made and mindful of the complex challenges ahead as the industry faces an evolving regulatory landscape and unresolved issues that still demand our attention. The Role and Impact of NANC The NANC was established in 1995 by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to act as a federal advisory committee, bringing together representatives from across the telecommunications ecosystem. Its mission: to advise the FCC on telephone numbering policy and to provide consensus-based solutions to complex technical and operational issues. FCC Chairman Brendan Carr outlined the importance of this work well, as recently quoted by Communications Daily: “Numbering is an issue that, all too frequently, people just take for granted. They just assume it’s going to work without much oversight or thought at all. But it takes a tremendous amount of work behind the scenes to oversee this complicated system with so many different parties and issues in the mix.” Over the years, NANC became a cornerstone of industry collaboration and regulatory innovation. The council’s responsibilities spanned a wide spectrum of issues, including: Number Portability: Facilitating seamless service transitions for consumers. Numbering Resource Optimization: Addressing number exhaustion and conservation strategies. Numbering Administration Oversight: Including selection and review of the North American Numbering Plan Administrator (NANPA) and Pooling Administrator. Transition to IP Networks: Advising on numbering implications in the evolution from TDM to IP-based systems. Caller ID Authentication & Robocall Mitigation: Supporting implementation of STIR/SHAKEN and addressing numbering fraud. Toll-Free Numbering Modernization: Including auctions and administrative reforms. Reassigned Numbers Database: Contributing to the development of mechanisms to reduce unwanted calls and improve data hygiene. The Council also housed several key working groups, including the Numbering Administration Oversight Working Group, Local Number Portability Administration Working Group, Future of Numbering Working Group, Interoperable Video Calling Working Group, and the Call Authentication Trust Anchor Working Group — each composed of experts from across competitive carriers, incumbents, VoIP providers, public interest groups, and technology vendors. A Void With No Clear Roadmap With the NANC now dissolved, the FCC faces the challenge of maintaining the momentum and continuity of these critical functions. While staff at the FCC are working diligently to absorb the Council’s tasks, there is currently no clear or public path forward for how these responsibilities will be handled in a coordinated and transparent manner. The loss of an established collaborative framework raises important questions: How will numbering policy be evaluated and implemented without a unified forum? Will working group structures be replicated or reimagined within the FCC? Can the industry maintain the same level of open, multi-stakeholder dialogue without a central body like the NANC? The Challenges Ahead Even as the structure of engagement changes, the challenges facing numbering policy remain as complex as ever. Among them: Combatting Numbering Fraud: The misuse of numbering resources, such as spoofing and untraceable illegal robocalls, continues to erode consumer trust. Addressing Number Exhaust: Despite conservation measures, the industry faces ongoing pressure from IoT expansion and regional demand hotspots. Maintaining Interoperability and Innovation: As networks evolve, numbering policy must remain forward-looking to accommodate emerging technologies and services. These are not problems that can be solved in silos. They require cross-industry coordination, expert input, and thoughtful policy design — principles the NANC embodied throughout its existence. A Grateful Goodbye With Eyes on the Future To all NANC participants both past and present we offer a sincere thank you. Your service exemplified the best of what industry-government collaboration can achieve. From large carriers to small providers, from policy advocates to technologists, your collective efforts helped shape a resilient and forward-looking telecommunications landscape. As we navigate the uncertainty of a post-NANC era, we must remain vigilant. The work is not done. The industry will need new collaborations, new voices, and renewed commitment to continue the legacy of informed, inclusive, and effective number policy development. Let us honor the Council’s 30-year history not only by looking back, but by continuing to move our work forward, together. ]]> The Five Tools You Need in Your Telephone Number Management Software Toolkit /the-five-tools-you-need-in-your-telephone-number-management-software-toolkit/ Mon, 14 Apr 2025 14:46:01 +0000 The world of telephone number management can be overwhelming, often entailing complex challenges such as tracking, monitoring, and reporting on vast inventories, ensuring accurate resource utilization and guarding against potential fraud. Dan compares AI to the invention of zero, a cognitive shift that took Europe roughly 300 years to absorb, and reveals the daily scoring system he has run for 217 straight days. Joe explains why the $2 million marketing archive sitting in his rented house has generated over $3 billion in tracked sales, and why no version of AI will ever replace a hug. Here's what you're about to discover in this conversation: Why Dan Sullivan says AI is the biggest cognitive disruption since the invention of zero, and how a concept dreamed up by philosophers in India took 300 years to reach Europe once it did. The $2 million marketing archive sitting inside Joe Polish's rented house, why it looks like hoarding from the outside, and how it has generated over $3 billion in tracked sales for his Members and Clients. Why Dan has scored every single day for 217 days straight on a scale of 1, 5, and 10, and what his highest day (250 points) actually looked like hour by hour. The direct mail letter Joe wrote for Bill Phillips back in 1998 that got reposted on Facebook decades later and pulled in $20,000 in sales in under an hour. Dr. Ned Hallowell's "right difficult" framework, and why finding yours might matter more than any AI tool on this list. If you'd like to join world-renowned Entrepreneurs at the next Genius Network® Event, apply today for your invitation to attend at geniusnetwork.com. Show Notes: AI as a Cognitive Disruption: The Invention of Zero Dan compares AI's arrival to the introduction of zero into mathematics, invented in India but not adopted in Europe until around 1200 AD, once Arab traders carried it west. Once zero arrived, it made double-entry bookkeeping possible and let European commerce and science take off. Dan's takeaway: it took 300 years for zero to become widely accepted, and nobody actually knows how fast AI adoption will play out. "It's all guesses and bets." The $2 Million Swipe File Living in a Rented House Joe describes the marketing library and swipe file he has collected over decades, roughly $2 million in courses, books, and direct mail archives housed in a rented property. Properly organized and applied, that archive has generated over $3 billion in tracked sales for Joe's Members and Clients. He compares it to a goldmine that, until AI came along, was nearly impossible to organize and distribute at scale. Digitizing Decades of Marketing History Joe used Claude to convert old Flip Video files from the early 2000s that would not open in QuickTime. He interviewed Mark Rukavina of iMemories, a media digitization company later sold to Ancestry.com, about digitizing consumer photos, film, and tape at scale. How a 1998 direct mail letter Joe wrote for Bill Phillips (Body For Life) generated $20,000 in sales in under an hour on Facebook. The Ocean Metaphor: You Cannot Get to All the Water Dan's analogy: you step out of the ocean, someone asks how the water was, and you realize you only touched a fraction of it. AI opportunity works the same way. It is vast, and no one will ever capture all of it. The real skill now is deciding which part of the water actually matters to you, instead of chasing every possible use case. Working Wiser: Quarterly Books and Claude 4.6 Dan has written a new small book every quarter since he started at age 70. This conversation covers book number 47. Structuring a book idea used to take about three weeks. With AI, the same process now takes about three hours. He started with Perplexity, then switched to Claude 4.6 for the quality of language it produces. The Hospitality Business: Humans for Hugs, AI for Thinking Joe's operating philosophy for Genius Network: let AI absorb everything that can be done with AI, finance, marketing, and calculations, so the Team is freed up to do only what humans can do. "Until I can figure out how to have AI give somebody a hug, I want a human that's actually caring to give somebody a hug." Handwritten Thank You Cards and the Return to Real Connection At recent Genius Network meetings, Members were asked to hand-write three thank you cards, no AI, and mail them from a mailbox outside the office. One Member in his mid-30s did not know how to address an envelope. Joe's point: as AI-generated content becomes ubiquitous, genuine human touch points become an unfair advantage. Yesterday Creates Tomorrow: The 217 Day Scoring System Dan's daily practice: score every activity 1, 5, or 10 points, built around one morning question. What can I do today so that tomorrow, looking back, this was a great yesterday? He has done this 217 days straight. His highest day scored 250 points. He credits it with reduced anxiety about the future and a near total elimination of what he describes as ADD-like scattering, chasing 20 imagined future outcomes that compete for today's attention. The idea anchors his next quarterly book, Yesterday Creates Tomorrow, due out the first week of September. Finding Your "Right Difficult" Joe reads Dr. Ned Hallowell's concept of a "right difficult," a creative outlet challenging enough to hold your attention and exciting enough that you actually want to return to it. Genius Network Team Members share their own: woodworking, oil painting, and sculpting with heavy equipment. Dean connects this to Steven Kotler's flow research: the activity has to sit just above your current skill level to produce real flow. The Jobs AI Will Not Replace Writing and communication is reportedly one of the hottest jobs in tech right now, with companies like Netflix paying up to $775,000 for people who are genuinely good with words. Robin Farmanfarmaian points to live events and in-person gatherings as a growing counterweight to screen time, and warns that over-reliance on AI is already measurably affecting cognitive skills people no longer exercise. Sales, influence, persuasion, and work requiring real empathy (a surgical practice is cited as one example) are flagged as durable, human-only domains. DOS: Dangers, Opportunities, and Strengths Joe revisits Dan's long-standing DOS framework: every market, community, or industry has its Dangers, Opportunities, and Strengths. The job of an Entrepreneur is to use their strengths to convert dangers into opportunities. Applied to AI: fear and disruption in a given space is often a signal pointing straight at the opportunity. Closing Wisdom: One Sentence Each Dan's closing tip for working wiser: "Focus on buyers and subscribers when it comes to making money." His final piece of advice for the group: "It's better to have happy days than unhappy days." Dean shares his own "1,000 minutes a day" time budget, built on the same idea that time is a currency you either spend proactively or lose by default. Resources: Zero Was Just the Beginning | Dan Sullivan's Strategic Coach article comparing AI's rise to the historical adoption of zero. Together they unpack the shift from Founder-dependent businesses to scalable ecosystems, the finite-vs-infinite game divide, and why AI is less a technological revolution and more a cognitive one. Here's a glance at what you'll discover in this episode: The number that reveals whether you're winning or losing the only game that matters... and why 94.6% of Entrepreneurs are optimizing a game that's already coming to an end (you've probably already done 10x without calling it that — what you do next is the whole point) Dan Sullivan's quiet observation after 52 years and 7,000+ Entrepreneurs... the exact moment a successful person stops growing isn't failure — it's something far more seductive, and almost no one catches it in themselves (the first exercise he runs at Strategic Coach is designed to show you you've already crossed the line once) Joe typed a question into AI and got back the most brutal case study in modern business history... Blockbuster, Kodak, Borders, Toys "R" Us — and the one invisible shift every company on that list missed before it was too late (this isn't a technology story — it's a thinking story) Why John Bowen started three new companies on his 70th birthday... and the dashboard he and Dan built for roughly $2,000 that a top vendor quoted them $50,000 a year to provide (his tech team called after the first meeting and said "we'll just build it and give it to you tomorrow") The four-hour version of something that used to take Dan Sullivan four weeks... and what it reveals about the only AI upgrade that actually changes your trajectory (this isn't about using AI more — it's about using it in the right direction entirely) What Joe Polish teaches Genius Youth Members that no business school has ever covered... and why writing handwritten postcards in an age of AI might be the single highest-leverage thing you do this week (the killer app of 2026 is not what anyone is selling you) If you'd like to join world-renowned Entrepreneurs at the next Genius Network Event or want to learn more about Genius Network, go to www.GeniusNetwork.com. Show Notes: The Book: The Greater Game and the 5.4% Dan and John's new book — published by Hay House and instantly a #1 Amazon bestseller — grew out of a 25-year research partnership to study what separates the highest-performing Entrepreneurs from everyone else. Their research across 7,000+ Entrepreneurs found that 94.6% are still optimizing the game they're in — while only 5.4% are architecting a completely different one. The book maps out exactly what those 5.4% are doing. The book's central premise: "Every system that got you here is optimized for a game that's coming to an end." From 10x to 100x: Dan's Framework Dan has been coaching Entrepreneurs to 10x since the 1990s — starting with an exercise where he had Clients identify when they were one-tenth of where they are today. Everyone in his program had already done 10x without labeling it that way. When he challenged a Client who said they couldn't go 10x in three years, the Client responded they could do it in 15 — and then voluntarily suggested doing it again. That's when the 100x idea crystallized. Dan's thesis: give yourself a long enough time horizon, use AI as a genuine collaborator, and constant growth becomes the natural state — not the exception. The Four Levels of The Greater Game Level 1 — Foundation for Freedom: Vision, security, and financial confidence. Getting off the couch. Level 2 — Energy for Expansion: Motivation and IP development. Dan has built an extraordinary amount of intellectual property; John and Joe have too. Level 3 — Platform / Ecosystem: Moving from Founder-dependent to a scalable system. John's own company grew 58% while writing the book — by walking the talk of this level. Level 4 — Agency: Creating markets. Courage, commitment, and building an ecosystem where you're generating the category itself. Finite vs. Infinite: What the Game Shift Really Means Finite game: competing for market share, managing dependencies, staying indispensable personally, reacting to market pressure. Business value: 3–5x EBITDA. Infinite game: designing an ecosystem, multiplying unique genius through others, engineering your own absence, redefining the market. Business value: multiples that reflect systems, not the Founder. Joe's examples (finite → infinite): Blockbuster → Netflix, Kodak → Apple, Borders → Amazon, taxi companies → Uber, Toys "R" Us → Lego. The pattern: finite players optimize the current game; infinite players keep changing what the game is. Dan's real-world example: Paul Van Dyne came to Strategic Coach planning to retire at 65. He went on to take his engineering firm from #40 to #1 nationally in nine years through M&A — and now plans to build his gourmet coffee shop inside one of his medical centers. AI as a Cognitive Revolution Dan's framing: AI isn't a technological revolution — it's a cognitive revolution. He compares its impact to the introduction of zero in mathematics, which made economics, double-entry bookkeeping, and science possible. Practical example: Dan used to need four weeks to structure a new book. With AI, the same work takes four hours. He now writes a new book every quarter. John's vibe-coding story: his Team built the entire Greater Game Dashboard for roughly $2,000–3,000 using Lovable — after being quoted $50,000/year from a top vendor. They own the code and iterate freely. Joe's counterpoint: the killer app today is being fully human — knowing how to bond, connect, and think for yourself. "Write with your hands, think with your brain." The Greater Game Dashboard John built this free interactive tool at TheGreaterGameDashboard.com to put the book's framework into action. The 15-minute assessment shows you exactly where you stand relative to peers and the 10 Greater Multipliers. The dashboard automatically calculates what your company is worth to a buyer today — and shows how each improvement raises that number. Dan calls it the greatest tool he's seen in 52 years of coaching Entrepreneurs. Monthly updates include an Entrepreneur Pulse confidence index. Useful whether you ever intend to sell or not — knowing your number changes how you invest in your business. Building Great Teams: Cast, Don't Hire Dan's principle: Strategic Coach treats itself as a theater company — with backstage and front-stage roles. They don't hire for jobs, they cast for roles. Every new hire is there to free up someone already in the company. Babs Smith built the Strategic Coach Team around Dan from the start — several Team members have now been with the company 20–30+ years. Beware the Founder-as-salesperson trap: if you're great at selling, you'll hire the wrong people — you'll confuse their excitement for the role with fit for the role. John, Joe, and Dan all find talent primarily through communities — mastermind groups, Genius Network, Strategic Coach — rather than ads. Great people seek out great people. Dan's upcoming book (Hay House): Casting Not Hiring. IP as a Strategic Asset Dan has had 82 thinking tools patented by the US Patent Bureau (none rejected), with 75 more pending. Each patent is a borrowable asset — you can borrow up to half the appraised value, creating a private intellectual property bank. Joe Polish's company operates as an ESOP — all Team members become equity owners after a vesting period, creating a true ownership culture without requiring employees to buy in upfront. Genius Youth and the Human Connection Advantage Joe's Genius Youth program focuses on skills AI can't replicate: human connection, handwritten notes, cold plunges, cooking and hospitality, ethical influence. Joe's 2026 Genius Network Annual Event — features Peter Diamandis and Steven Kotler (Authors of We Are as Gods), live robots, and a mystery musician on 300M+ albums. Dan also shares his 85-day "Yesterday Creates Tomorrow" experiment and why it may be his most powerful personal breakthrough yet. Here's a glance at what you'll discover in this episode: How Unique Ability is the center of your entrepreneurial system, and how to create a team that supports it so you can focus on what energizes you (instead of draining you). Why most entrepreneurs are one-person shows...but how building a real company/team will set you free to focus on what you do best. The 4 freedoms that Dan teaches, and how mastering them can change your life. Why trying to get better at your weaknesses could be creating "really strong weaknesses", and what you can do instead. The powerful shift that happened when Dan stopped working in his "office" and built his business around what he loves to do. A simple, but powerful question you can ask yourself to avoid distractions and do less but achieve way more. Why pain often drives behavior more than motivation, willpower, or discipline... and how you can turn it into your biggest advantage. If you'd like to join world-renowned Entrepreneurs at the next Genius Network Event or want to learn more about Genius Network, go to www.GeniusNetwork.com.]]> Joe Polish and Dan Sullivan go live to cut through the AI noise and deliver real value on unique ability, reclaiming your time, and staying front stage. From creating a "great yesterday" to redefining ambition, connection, and progress, this episode delivers practical wisdom for building a better business—and a better life. Here's a glance at what you'll discover in this episode: The unexpected question Dan asks people that immediately changes how they think about their future, their health, and what actually matters. A subtle shift in how Dan thinks about time which he says is helping him stay present and surprisingly calm, even as everything accelerates. Why Dan believes most people misunderstand chaos, and how accepting a few uncomfortable truths can actually be stabilizing. How AI changes what it means to think well, and why being human may become more valuable, not less. A different way to think about ambition that challenges the idea that you eventually "run out of gas." A single question that can interrupt overwhelm and open up options you weren't seeing before. Why pain explains more human behavior than motivation, discipline, or willpower ever will. Dan's personal definition of a well-lived life and why progress, contribution, and self-acceptance all matter.
