As an illustrative reference point, a year ago I was expecting Rev/EPS for this FY of $431.4b/$7.12, which now ended up at $385.6b/$6.11 (-11%/-14%), and FY24 projected EPS of $7.61 now down to $7.06 (-7%) might still be slightly optimistic. But I feel the downward revisions are getting smaller (see vertical revision arrows in chart detail below).Nonetheless, the mid/long-term projection has been more resilient, holding up at mid/high single-digits growth in Rev/EPS, in essence the only change being it stalled for the last couple of years, as the expected post-pandemic growth slowdown turned out more like a pause.Product-wise, need a strong lineup for Mac and iPad to overcome this post-pandemic dip. This concern is just silly. Apple will generate over $90b in free cash flow (excludes capex) this year and that will continue to grow with earnings. Regressing back into the black hole of hoarding it is out of the question, and returning it all through dividends would require an immediate 6x increase on the current level this year, which is ridiculous. However, I do expect a slight pick up in the dividend raise pace to double-digit growth from the mid-high single digits growth of the last several years.In the short term, last quarter appears to me a temporary plateau in growth, mostly due to one-time manufacturing stoppages and slowing Services growth. However, Services should continue to grow faster than company-wide growth, surpassing 20% share of revenues this year and reaching $100b by 2024. Overall, I expect high single digit/strong double-digit growth in revenues/EPS for the remaining 3 quarters of the Fiscal Year.Analysts have shifted from a weak first half of 2023 to now expecting a flat or declining full year and even continued weakness into next year, but I think they've overdone it given Apple's historical resiliency during weak economic cycles. It's anyone's guess, so I'll just share my impressions without much justification (you should research those issues and derive your own conclusions). I do not see a long-term effect on demand, but I do believe management must be asking themselves a big, structural question around manufacturing diversification involving a relatively modest but potentially longer-term impact on current cost structures.This question is far from exclusive to Apple, impacting the whole electronics industry (and cars, toys, apparel, among many others). The good thing is Apple uniquely has a hefty gross margin cushion from a rising Services mix which allows it to execute almost any product manufacturing transition they may decide to take on with minimal impact on overall profitability. That doesn't mean it would be an easy decision to make, nor easy to execute. It's possible they've already set sail on this course. In any case, don't expect any visibly drastic changes in financial performance, nor dramatic measures or decisions announced. It's a long journey, and the destination isn't necessarily 180 degrees from the current situation. So I've modeled around 1% headwind on the long-term (beyond the next 3-5y) growth projection now at high single-digits, and a bit larger short-term impact over the next quarter or two. I'll leave it at that.This is the time Apple always updates their Capital Return Program. A brief review of what it's done so far: $484 billion spent to retire 11.4 billion shares at an average cost of $42.59 per share, so almost quadrupled that investment. I expect at least another $25b spent during last quarter, leaving about $15b authorized for buybacks. So, given current $80b in net cash and projected near $110b in FCF over NTM, I think the authorization should be extended by over $120b more until next year, and the quarterly dividend raised by 13.6% to 25 cents per share from the current 22 cents. However, I wouldn't be surprised if management feels no need to be as aggressive (so as not to tip their hand so much) and instead decide on $100b extra for buybacks and 24 cents for the dividend (+9%).As I promised last time, I'm bumping the long-term valuation multiple to 24x, and plan to take it to 25x for the December quarter preview at the earliest, depending on financial results through the rest of the Fiscal Year, and what's announced in the Summer and Fall events. If my March quarter estimates align with whatever guidance clues are provided, then I most likely will raise the multiple to 24x next time, with still one more nudge to 25x hopefully later this year. I'll leave the discussion of potentially huge upside from new product categories to other analysts, but the effect on financials will be gradual over the next 3-5 years, and not felt this year at all. Starting NTM due to easy iPhone comps and resilient "work/learn from home" trends, followed over next 2-3 years by 5G and Apple Silicon adoption, further compounding even longer term into all lines due to ecosystem synergies (my so called "loopy" modeling). And all that is even before considering potentially huge initiatives in new devices such as tags and glasses, or new services tackling transportation and health.Bear in mind I could be wrong, overly optimistic about iPhone in particular, which if instead stagnates or keeps declining from here, as it has the last 5y amid declining smartphone and PC markets (yet there was a pandemic last year and tariff wars the prior two), it would likely throw a wrench in the cycle's gears. However, I sense the next 5 years won't be as tough as the last. Granted there might be increased regulation, government intervention, and higher taxes, but I think none of it will amount to much in the end. Besides Deborah and an anonymous man in <a href=" style="font-weight:bold;">Judges 6:7-10</a>, he is the first prophet mentioned after <a href=";, although we could consider some of the other judges among the prophets. He lived during the 11th century B.C. Samuel's mother Hannah was unable to have children and she prayed desperately before the tabernacle that the Lord would grant her to bear children to her husband Elkanah, an Ephraimite. Because the Lord heard and answered, Hannah called her son "Samuel," which can be translated "heard by God." This account is in <a href=" first chapter of 1 Samuel</a>. In response to God's love for them, Samuel's parents dedicated him to the Lord's service: "And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, along with a three-year-old bull, an ephah of flour, and a skin of wine, and she brought him to the house of the Lord at Shiloh. And the child was young. Then they slaughtered the bull, and they brought the child to Eli [the priest in the Lord's house]. And she said, 'Oh, my lord! Because of Saul's continuing, flagrant disregard for God's Word, Samuel repudiated Saul's leadership and traveled to the house of Jesse, where he anointed <a href="; to be king in place of Saul (<a href=";). Samuel's loyalty to God, his spiritual insight, and his ability to inspire others made him one of Israel's great leaders. Born into a noble Burgundian (Fontaines, near Dijon) family in 1090, he was drawn toward the Church by his own nature and encouraged by his mother's desire. His family opposed His desire to enter a monastery and sent him to study at Châlons in order to qualify him for higher ecclesiastical office. However, Bernard left his affluent heritage, entering the monastery of Citeaux at age 22. He persuaded four of his brothers, an uncle, and 26 other men, mainly the sons of nobles, to join him. After two years he and several others were sent to a new monastic house at Clairvaux, where Bernard soon became its abbot. His work there was blessed in many ways. The monastery at Clairvaux grew in mission and service, eventually establishing some 68 daughter houses. During the disputed papal elections between Anacletus II and Innocent II, he took the side of Innocent. From 1130-38, Bernard worked to solidify the papal claim through ecclesiastical and secular politics. He battled against the "New Teaching" espoused by Pierre Abélard at the University of Paris, resisting a broad-based liberal arts education using the philosophy of Aristotle. Instead, Bernard insisted that such an education was only to be used in preparation for the priesthood. At the command of Pope Eugenius III in 1146, Bernard preached in favor of a new effort to free the Holy Land from the Mohammedans. This gave life to the previously moribund Second Crusade. While the results of the campaign were certainly mixed, events during it served to enhance Bernard's perception among non-Christians: When a monk named Radulf (or Raoul) incited the populace of Mainz against the Jews, Bernard vigorously opposed him, calling the monk arrogant, without authority, a preacher of mad and heretical doctrines, a liar, and a murderer. Radulf slipped away, the riots ended, and Bernard became known as a "righteous gentile." His reputation among Rhine valley Jews remained so good that his name is still given to some of their descendants. The most famous of these would probably be American businessman and presidential advisor Bernard Baruch. Certainly, we remember St. Bernard for his charity and political abilities. After all, my flesh and blood sits in heaven above. I expect He will not be my enemy.' For St. Bernard to apply this to himself and to boast this way is certainly a genuinely spiritual, heavenly, and divine thought, derived from his faith. For he had also amounted to something in the world. He had been rich enough, noble, learned, and holy. But before God St. Bernard knows no other boast or comfort than this Lord. (LW 13:245)" Where Bernard lapsed into exalting the office of the papacy or waxed eloquent on the merits of the saints — particularly Mary — Luther condemned these works as false and misleading. Yet the reformer appreciated and held close the monk's death-bed confession of personal unworthiness and total reliance on Christ's merits: "That is how St. Bernard was saved. He was an exemplary monk; he observed the rules of his order scrupulously, and he fasted so assiduously that his breath stank and no one could abide his presence. But on the threshold of death he exclaimed: 'Oh, I have lived damnably! Both of these passes were later named for him and and the large rescue dogs for these places where they were stationed. Many still consider his Loci Theologici in 23 large volumes to be the most definitive statement of Lutheran orthodoxy. Born in Quedlinburg, Germany, Gerhard was stricken with a life-threatening illness at age 15. Following this experience, coupled with with guidance from his pastor, <a href=" Arndt</a>, Gerhard experienced a turning point: He devoted the rest of his life to theology, serving many years as the Superintendent of Heldberg and, later, of the Duchy of Coburg. Eventually he become a professor at the University of Jena. With a sharp, critically trained mind, Gerhard also possessed deep evangelical piety and love for Jesus. He wrote exegetical and theological works, devotional literature, history, and polemics. Many of his sermons remain in publication, still exercising wide influence upon confessional Lutheran thought. Since its writing and subsequent translation, his <a href="; title="Online translation by Wade R. Johnston, 815kb PDF">Sacred Meditations</a> probably outsold every book in the Western world except the Bible and The Imitation of Christ by <a href=" à Kempis</a>. In his old age, Isaac became weak and blind. Before he died, he desired to give his blessing and the chief inheritance to Esau, his elder and favorite son, even though the Lord had promised Rebekah that their birth order would be reversed in the blessing and <a href="; would be the favored son (<a href=";). However, Rebekah showed her favorite, Jacob, how to deceive his father and gain the blessing for himself (<a href=";). Of course, this resulted in years of bitter family strife, although Jacob and Esau later reconciled (<a href=" 33</a>). Mary was also present with the apostles in Jerusalem following the Ascension, waiting for the promised Spirit (<a href=" 1:14</a>). One is Pontius Pilate, Roman procurator of Judea from 26 to 36 AD. Knowing that Jesus was crucified by Pilate's order pins down the date of His death within a few years, certifying that we are not talking "once upon a time," like worshipers of some mythical god. His death is an historical event, something that really happened. The other name in the Creeds is that of Mary. They say that Christ was "born of the virgin Mary." That is, they assert that he was truly and fully human, born of a woman and not descended from the skies like an angel. Jesus was not a spirit temporarily cloaked in a robe of human-seeming flesh. Telling us that His mother was a virgin excludes the theory that Jesus was an ordinary man who was so virtuous that he eventually, at His baptism, became filled with a "Christ Spirit" by God. His virgin birth attests that He was always more than merely human, always one whose presence among us was in itself a miracle, from the first moment of His earthly existence. In Mary, Virgin and Mother, God gives us a sign that Jesus is both truly God and truly man.
