Happy Saint Jimmy Glass day – a sacred day for all Carlisle United fans. The greatest ever goal by a goalkeeper. I nearly had a combined hernia and heart attack when it went in. Got drunk for a week and proposed to a horse. #cufcpic.twitter.com/JmR8JdQSOs
With the Grand Steeplechase de Paris this Sunday, wishing all runners a safe trip & may the best horse win! I was meant to be flying out to Paris today, primarily to experience my first ever Grand Steeplechase De Paris weekend at Auteuil, plus enjoy return visits to ParisLongchamp, Saint-Cloud and Chantilly. It was a busman’s holiday in fact, as I was actually intending to do some elements of work whilst in Paris.
The trip was 11 months in the planning, a timescale I use with all my major trips, as the earlier you book everything, the cheaper it all works out.
However, after some far from satisfactory email exchanges with FG, I decided to cancel the entire trip last week, plus my forthcoming Arc Trip in October 2026. In fact, I’ve taken the personal decision not to travel to France to watch racing for the foreseeable future.
I have been blessed with a good long run of Parisian horse racing visits, including witnessing a magnificent list of Arc winners, but now I shall just watch events unfold, avidly as ever, but from the comfort of my own home. Maybe one day I’ll return?
