The ProteomeXchange consortium in 2017: supporting the cultural change in proteomics public data deposition.

 Cache

The ProteomeXchange (PX) Consortium of proteomics resources (http://www.proteomexchange.org) was formally started in 2011 to standardize data submission and dissemination of mass spectrometry proteomics data worldwide. We give an overview of the current consortium activities and describe the advances of the past few years. Augmenting the PX founding members (PRIDE and PeptideAtlas, including the PASSEL resource), two new members have joined the consortium: MassIVE and jPOST. ProteomeCentral remains as the common data access portal, providing the ability to search for data sets in all participating PX resources, now with enhanced data visualization components. We describe the updated submission guidelines, now expanded to include four members instead of two. As demonstrated by data submission statistics, PX is supporting a change in culture of the proteomics field: public data sharing is now an accepted standard, supported by requirements for journal submissions resulting in public data release becoming the norm. More than 4500 data sets have been submitted to the various PX resources since 2012. Human is the most represented species with approximately half of the data sets, followed by some of the main model organisms and a growing list of more than 900 diverse species. Data reprocessing activities are becoming more prominent, with both MassIVE and PeptideAtlas releasing the results of reprocessed data sets. Finally, we outline the upcoming advances for ProteomeXchange.

Employers’ Perspectives on Workplace Communication Skills: The Meaning of Communication Skills

 Cache

Employers provide their interpretation of the meaning of communication skills in this qualitative study of 22 managers. Employers understand written communication to be types of documents, a way to write, and a mode of communication. Oral communication skills mean a style of interacting, presenting, and conducting meetings. Visual communication skills were understood to be data visualization or nonverbal communication. Electronic communication was interpreted as email. The findings contribute to closing-the-gap research by highlighting areas where meaning converges for employers and instructors. Faculty members in communication disciplines can incorporate these findings into their course design and learning outcome discussions.

Transforming Procurement and Finance to Fuel Business Growth

 Cache

A large swath of corporate processes are undergoing a digital transformation, but the procurement function is lagging far behind in that respect. A meager 3 percent of chief procurement officers (CPOs) said they believe their staffs possess all the skills required to maximize the use of digital capabilities, according to Deloitte’s global survey of 504 CPOs. That said, how can CFOs work with their procurement counterparts to achieve common goals of streamlined processes and data visibility to improve decision-making? Companies need to take a holistic view of financial processes to target those areas throughout the procure-to-pay (P2P) process that can have the greatest impact on efficiencies, costs, and supplier relationships. The procurement and finance functions are tightly intertwined and can be significantly enhanced through a collaborative and cohesive approach to transformation. Back office inefficiencies are often at the root of slow growth.

This ebook will examine some of the challenges of transforming the procurement and finance functions and how automation can deliver value.

PWNing MBEDTLS on ESP32

LimitedResults found vulnerabilities with the ESP32 which allows an attacker to compromise the cryptographic library on the ESP32, MbedTLS. It’s important to note that an adversary will need physical access to the ESP32 module as it’s been compromised using a voltage-glitching attack. While this doesn’t impact hobbyists, it is a an attack on the hardware module (you can not roll out new software to patch it). If you have an ESP32 module in the field, it is potentially vulnerable to this type of attack, given an attacker’s resources and time. It looks like Espressif is following this report. They tweeted after ESP32 was pwned a couple of months ago: “We have upgraded the hardware; stay tuned for ESP32v3 with improved security and performance!”. We are unsure if this impacts the ESP8266 or the upcoming ESP32-S2 module.

Aktier/middag: Mærsk trækker pæn C25-fremgang - Chemometec kommer igen

 Cache

Her faldt aktien med 5,1 pct.
