L á t s z o l: Jégvarázs 2.

 Cache

Viszont a ruhájuk részletei, szövetmintázata sokszor döbbenetesen jó.

Comment on Elizabeth of Hungary by Liz Forest

I am not able to transform my "humble abode" into a hospital to serve the poor sick. Yet I make donations to groups who serve the poor in places and ways I cannot. Her name was Elizabeth, like Mary's cousin, she was open to miracles. My middle name is Elizabeth. I hope for the grace of God to work miracles in my life.

Katarina Duda and Family: Manifest of Kaiser Wilhelm, June, 1912

 Cache

The image of the manifest of the Kaiser Wilhelm, showing the names of Katarina Zatko Duda and her four children, as they emigrated on this ship from Europe to America in 1912. The manifest reveals that ship departed from Bremen on June 20 and arrived at Ellis Island on June 28, 1912.It lists the family's "nationality" as subjects of Hungary and their "race" as Slovak. Former home is listed as Velcice, in Trencin Co and their final destination as Oviedo, FL. Katarina's occupation is noted as 'domestic.' Andrew Duda, Sr., (husband of Katarina and father of the the four children) had emigrated to the US in 1909 and the family was traveling to Florida to be reunited with him.

John Duda: A School Boy in the Austro Hungarian Empire, c. 1910

 Cache

A fascinating image, showing John Duda as a school boy (age 6 or 7) in the village school of Tagkohany, Trencin Co in the 'Kingdom of Hungary,' 1910. Note that this area is now part of the Slovak Republic, but after World War I ended in 1918, it was part of Czechoslovakia for 7 more decades. Young John is at the far right of the middle row(head is circled). Someone in "the old country" mailed this mounted photo to his mother (Katarina) some years later. Note that Katarina brought John and his 3 siblings by boat to the US to join their father, Andrew Duda, Sr. Their ship landed in NYC on June 28, 1912 and John continued his schooling in Oviedo, FL that year.

IV Konferencja „Pole elektromagnetyczne i przyszłość telekomunikacji. Badania. Monitoring. Doświadczenia krajowe i zagraniczne”

 Cache

pole-elektromagnetyczne-przyszlosc-telekomunikacji-konferencja-warszawa-2019-instytut-lacznosci

Przewodnie hasło konferencji, podobnie jak w roku ubiegłym, brzmi „Pole elektromagnetyczne i przyszłość telekomunikacji. Badania. Monitoring.  Doświadczenia krajowe i zagraniczne”.

Organizatorami drugiego dnia konferencji są Ministerstwo Cyfryzacji i Instytut Łączności, tworzące wspólnie konsorcjum realizujące projekt „System Informacyjny o Instalacjach wytwarzających pole elektromagnetyczne”.

To wydarzenie gromadzące najwyższej klasy ekspertów krajowych i zagranicznych, prezentujących swoje najnowsze osiągnięcia i badania.

Review of the Clinical Evidences of Modulated Electro-Hyperthermia (mEHT) Method: An Update for the Practicing Oncologist

Roundup

Background: Modulated electro-hyperthermia (mEHT) is a variation of the conventional hyperthermia which selectively targets the malignant cell membranes in order to heat the malignant tissue and sensitize the tissue to oncology treatments. Although widely applied, the formulation of guidelines for the use thereof is still in progress for many tumors.

Aim: In this paper we review the literature on the effects of mEHT in cancer patients on local disease control and survival.

Methodology: Our review on data presents the collected experience with capacitive hyperthermia treatments with the EHY-2000+ device (OncoTherm Ltd., Germany). A literature search was conducted in Pubmed and articles were grouped and discussed according to: trial type, animal studies, in vitro studies, and reviews. Search results from Conference Abstracts; Trial Registries; Thesis and Dissertations and the Oncothermia Journal were included in the discussions.

Results: Modulated electro-hyperthermia is a safe form of hyperthermia which has shown to effectively sensitizes deep tumors, regardless of the thickness of the adipose layers. The technology has demonstrated equal benefits compared to other forms of hyperthermia for a variety of tumors. Given the effective heating ability to moderate temperatures, the improved tumor perfusion, and ability to increase drug absorption, mEHT is a safe and effective heating technology which can be easily applied to sensitize tumors which have demonstrated benefits with the addition of hyperthermia. Modulated electro-hyperthermia also appears to improve local control and survival rates and appears to induce an abscopal (systemic) response to ionizing radiation.

Conclusion: Based on clinical studies, the method mEHT is a feasible hyperthermia technology for oncological applications. Concomitant utilization of mEHT is supported by the preclinical and clinical data.

Louis C.K. Tells Israeli Audience He’d ‘Rather Be In Auschwitz Than New York City’

 Cache

Disgraced comedian Louis C.K. inserted his foot in his mouth again, telling an audience in Israel that he’d prefer to be in the concentration camp where millions of Jewish people were massacred than be in New York City.

“I’d rather be in Auschwitz than New York City,” C.K. said during a Thanksgiving night performance in Holon, a city south of Tel Aviv, according to multiple reports.

“I mean now, not when it was open,” he added.

Auschwitz was a concentration camp built and operated by Nazi Germany where 1.1 million men, women and children were exterminated during World War II, including 865,000 Jews who were gassed on arrival. Many who were not gassed died of starvation, beatings and disease.

Although many on social media got a belly laugh out of the joke – one Twitter user said they bought tickets to his show because of it – and the Daily News reported that “the audience burst into applause” for the comedian, others on Twitter went berserk:

C.K., who is of Jewish descent, is in the middle of an international comedy tour that includes sold-out shows in Slovakia, along with performances in Hungary and a series of U.S. shows in Detroit, Akron, Reading, Mobile, New Orleans and Houston.

During his Holon set, C.K. also addressed his behavior as being wrong, according to the New York Daily News.

“If they say ‘yes,’ then still don’t do it, because it’s not popular,” he said in apparent reference to the growing #MeToo movement.

But this isn’t the first time C.K. has referenced masturbating in front of women during a comedy set. Earlier this year in a San Jose comedy club, C.K. told the audience, “I like to jerk off, and I don’t like being alone.”

Thank you.
The ancestor did not remember which port and the INS clerk did not double check with the NY Ellis Island arrival. The location is written the way it sounded to the clerk.
There is no Shadan. If we know if the location was in Zemplen, Saros, Szepes megye than we might be able to narrow down.
I'm turning the information from the Intent using one step/gold form www.stevemorse.org but no RUSNAK.
Did the ancestors married in America? If yes, do you have their church marriage record?

Portugal, France, Germany drawn together at Euro 2020 as England get Croatia

 Cache

Reigning European champions Portugal will come up against World Cup winners France and Germany in the standout group at Euro 2020 following Saturday's draw for the tournament in Bucharest, as England came out alongside Croatia. Neither France nor Portugal were in Pot One for the 24-team competition being held in 12 cities across Europe, making them the dangerous teams to avoid for the top seeds. In the event, they came out together in an incredibly tough Group F alongside Germany, who will play group games at home in Munich. That is where Joachim Loew's team will face France in their first match on June 16. Group F will be completed by one of the winners of the play-offs to be played next March, leaving open several possibilities including Hungary, who will play at home in Budapest should they make it. France beat Germany in the semi-finals of Euro 2016 on home soil, before losing in the final to a Portugal side who claimed the title for the first time. Meanwhile, England were drawn with Croatia and the Czech Republic in Group D, with Gareth Southgate's team to play home group games at Wembley, which will also be the venue for the semi-finals and final. That section will be...

The Daily Nationalist: ‘Victim’ Sainted Status Under Judicial Review – DN 112919

 Cache

Sven Longshanks covers two positive news stories, a judicial review into ‘hate incident’ procedures and Hungary pulls out of Eurovision calling it ‘too gay’.

An ex-policeman has started a judicial review calling for hate incidents to be scrapped, as there is no requirement for evidence and no requirement for a crime, the ‘victim’ simply has to be a minority.

Early signs are that the judge is sympathetic to this common sense viewpoint.

Hungary has pulled out of Eurovision because the promotion of homosexuality in it is harmful to the nation’s mental health.

They say they are going to direct their resources towards helping Hungarians instead. What a novel idea.

Presented by Sven Longshanks

Ki mérte meg az eget? - Bibliai kérdés-mozaik - Gyori István (Szerzo)

 Cache

Asphyxiated neonates who received active therapeutic hypothermia during transport had higher rates of hypocapnia than controls.

Acta Paediatr. 2018 11;107(11):1902-1908

Authors: Szakmar E, Kovacs K, Meder U, Bokodi G, Szell A, Somogyvari Z, Szabo AJ, Szabo M, Jermendy A

Abstract
AIM: We investigated the association between active hypothermia and hypocapnia in neonates with moderate-to-severe hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy (HIE) transported after birth.
METHODS: This was a retrospective cohort study of neonates with HIE born between 2007 and 2011 and transported to Semmelweis University, Hungary, for hypothermia treatment before and after we introduced active cooling during transport in 2009. Of these, 71 received intensive care plus controlled active hypothermia during transport, while the 46 controls just received standard intensive care. Incident hypocapnia was defined as a partial pressure of carbon-dioxide (pCO2 ) that decreased below 35 mm Hg during transport. Multivariable logistic regression investigated the relationship between hypothermia and incident hypocapnia.
RESULTS: Incident hypocapnia was more frequent in the actively cooled transport group (36.6%) than control group (17.4%; p = 0.025). pCO2 decreased from a median of 45 to 35 mm Hg (p < 0.0001) in the intervention group, but remained unchanged in the controls. After adjusting for confounders, hypothermia remained an independent risk factor for hypocapnia with an odds ratio (OR) of 4.23 and 95% confidence interval (95% CI) of 1.30-13.79. Sedation was associated with a reduction in OR of hypocapnia, at 0.35 (95% CI 0.12-0.98).
CONCLUSIONS: Hypothermia increased the risk of hypocapnia in neonates with HIE during transport.

Albania’s search for quake victims ends; death toll up to 51

 Cache
TIRANA, Albania – The search and rescue operation for earthquake survivors in Albania has ended, the prime minister said Saturday, with the death toll at 51 and no more bodies believed to be in the ruins.

Prime Minister Edi Rama said preliminary figures showed more than 1,465 buildings in the capital, Tirana, and about 900 in nearby Durres were seriously damaged in Tuesday’s 6.4-magnitude pre-dawn quake.

About 2,000 people were injured.

A woman in Tirana who had been in a coma died, the health ministry said Saturday. Local media reported the 20-year old was injured by a falling brick while leaving her apartment.

In Durres, hundreds of residents as well as Rama and President Ilir Meta attended the funeral of nine members of a single extended family who were killed when a four-story villa collapsed. One young man survived and has been sent to Italy for medical treatment.

Preliminary figures estimate at least 4,000 people are homeless. About 2,500 people from damaged homes have been sheltered in hotels. Others have been taken to neighboring Kosovo or have moved to eastern areas of Albania.

The prime minister has pledged all homeless will be in “stronger homes” in 2020.

The first seriously damaged building has been demolished, and a dozen others are expected to follow. Assessment experts from Greece, France, Italy, Hungary, Bulgaria, Lithuania and Latvia are involved.

A new draft law will sentence all investors, architects and supervisors to seven to 15 years in prison for violating construction norms. That and corruption in Albania’s burgeoning building industry have been blamed for much of the quake’s effects.

The government has set up financial compensations for families of the dead, including 1 million Lek ($9,000) per family, special pensions for elders and scholarships for children.

Government and private calls for donations have collected about 15 million euros ($16 million) in three days.

Global pop stars of Albanian origin Dua Lipa, Rita Ora and Bebe Rexha also have made appeals via their social media sites.

Ora said she would help build a home for a homeless family and “myself directly help these families as much as I can!”

How to tag rural-suburban residential areas in city edges?

 Cache

In many Hungarian city edges and villages there are suburban landuses with large gardens and small family houses like these:

Rural-suburban areas

In Hungary these are usually tagged as landuse=allotments. That is wrong, since these are houses for permanent residence and many of them doesn't have actual gardens to grow fruits/vegetables. On the other hand, they can be really sparse, with small houses, and such a rural environment that they are closer to farmyards (without an actual farmland) so landuse=residental doesn't seems right either.

How should we tag these lands?

Children as Teachers

“I always turn to children to be my teachers when I come up against new ideas and challenges,” writes Deb Curtis in her popular book, Really Seeing Children. “And, indeed, observing closely and reflecting on how children engage in exploration and discovery reinforced the notion that children, in fact, do more with less.”

Curtis describes what she’s learned from children about not feeling like we have to offer such a wide variety of toys. “Imagine not offering babies any toys until they find their hands for play,” she writes. “My mind started spinning as I heard Janet Gonzalez-Mena describe this approach used by Pikler Institute in Budapest, Hungary, where they have documented over 75 ways that babies learn to use their hands for play.”

Chinese Christian elder on trial on trumped charges

On Monday, Qin Derfu, an elder from Sichuan’s Early Rain Covenant Church in China, faced his trial on trumped up charges, reports International Christian Concern.

Officials have kept Qin along with Pastor Wang Yi in custody since last December on charges of running an illegal business.

Qin’s wife, Xiao Hongliu, was finally able to see her husband at the trial, commenting she “returned home accompanied by the police. The prosecutor accused Qin Derfu of running an illegal business, and the lawyer defended for his innocence. Qin Derfu also testified [for himself] that it is not a crime to have [Christian] faith. We pray and look up to God for the result— justice is in His hand.”

Hungary has given $26 million to help Middle East Christians

On Tuesday, the government of Hungary convened the second International Conference on Christian Persecution, drawing 650 church leaders and politicians from 40 countries.

Hungarian Prime Minister Victor Orbán said, “Christian values lead to peace and happiness,” and “protection of Christianity is an obligation for the Hungarian state.”

Hungary has given about $26 million in aid directly to suffering believers in the Middle East since 2017.

President Donald Trump commended Hungary’s stand for religious liberty as the two countries agreed this month to a rebuilding project in Qaraqosh, the largest city in Iraq with a Christian majority.

Matthew 25:40 says, “Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.”

President Trump will designate Mexican drug cartels as terrorists

President Trump announced Tuesday that he would be moving forward with a plan to designate Mexican drug cartels as terrorist groups.

In a radio interview with Bill O’Reilly, Trump said, “Look, we're losing 100,000 people a year to what's happening and what's coming through on Mexico.”

This comes after Trump promised to “wage war on the drug cartels,” following a deadly attack on U.S. citizens in Mexico earlier this month.

Trump said Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has rejected his offer to “go in and clean it out,” but that “at some point something has to be done.”

70 percent of Americans support religious freedom

new study from the Becket Fund for Religious Freedom found that a solid majority of Americans support robust religious freedom protections.

Across multiple cultural dimensions, the study found public support for religious freedoms to be well above 70 percent.

The report summarized its findings that “Americans are uncomfortable with the idea of the government penalizing groups and individuals for living out their religious beliefs.”

738 babies saved through 40 Days for Life

Pro-life volunteers in 855 cities and 61 countries participated in the annual 40 Days for Life from September 25 to November 3.

40 Days for Life President Shawn Carney said, “It was the largest year in the history of 40 Days for Life” with 738 babies saved from murder in the womb and five abortion workers walking away from their jobs.

Proverbs 24:11 says, “Deliver those who are drawn toward death, and hold back those stumbling to the slaughter.”

Fewer American women having babies

The National Center for Health Statistics announced yesterday that the U.S. fertility rate declined in 2018 for the fourth consecutive year, reaching a record low of 59.1 births for every 1,000 women able to bear children.

The total fertility rate in 2018 was 1.73, below replacement levels for the general population.

The median age for childbearing in the 1970s was 21 for women and 23 for men, but in 2018 it was 28 for women and 30 for men.

Texas Governor testifies to God's goodness, despite wheelchair

And finally, Texas Governor Greg Abbott testified to God’s goodness in his life even through an accident that put him in a wheelchair.

The 62-year-old governor has been paralyzed from the waist down since 1984 after an oak tree fell on him while he was jogging.

Last Friday, Abbott posted an inspiring video of a man in a wheelchair doing a climbing wall with just his hands to which a Twitter user responded that if he ever ended up in a wheelchair he would commit suicide.

Abbott replied, “That’s what I thought before I ended up in a wheelchair. I’ve done more AFTER the accident that left me paralyzed than before that accident. With God, all things are possible.”

1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."

 Cache

Heavy rain and snow affects southern parts of Europe through the next two days Monday Heavy outbreaks of rain affecting southeastern Spain on Monday. Drier and brighter to the northwest and for Portugal. Heavy rain continues too for northern Italy and spreads into the northern Balkan states turning to snow over the Dinaric Alps. Increasing cloud over Greece with isolated showers to the west. Dry and sunny for much of Turkey. A mostly dry and bright day for France, the Low Countries and Germany. Feeling cold with isolated showers for northern coasts. Some snow showers over Switzerland, Austria, Hungary and Slovakia while it stays mostly dry but cloudy for the Czech Republic. A cloudy day for Poland too with scattered snow showers. A dry day for Denmark with varying amounts of cloud. Snow clears east from the Baltic States to leave a bright but cold end to the day here. Continuing windy for much of Norway, Sweden and Finland with snow becoming confined to northern areas and to the western coast of Norway. Plenty of good spells of sunshine here.

Tuesday Heavy outbreaks of rain continue for southeast Spain, spreading to the Balearic Islands later. Dry and bright for the rest of Spain and Portugal. Showery rain and cloud clear to the south from Italy with dry and sunny conditions following from the north. A band of rain affects northern portions of Greece and Turkey but it stays dry and bright to the south. High pressure brings dry and settled conditions to a large part of Europe on Tuesday. A chilly but sunny day for much of France, the Low Countries, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia. Any early snow showers over eastern areas quickly clear away. A band of showery rain spread across Norway, Denmark and Sweden. This turns to snow over higher ground and to the north. Rain reaches Finland later but ahead of this it's a dry and bright day. Dry and sunny too for the Baltic States though cloud builds form the west later.

18 Wind and Solar Markets to Watch in 2020

 Cache

The world’s total renewable power capacity will grow 50 percent between 2019 and 2024, according to the International Energy Agency. For investors keen to tap into this growth, mostly driven by solar and wind, the question is where to look.

To find out, GTM asked a range of industry experts and insiders for their recommendations on wind and solar markets to watch in 2020. We ignored those markets that already made the list last year.

What follows is a smattering of mature markets returning to form and some that are brand-new.

Without further ado, and in alphabetical order...

Australia: Wind

We listed Australia as a solar market to watch last year, and the country remains one of the more interesting places to invest in PV. But it’s also a big deal for wind power, said Karin Ohlenforst, director of market intelligence at the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC). Even though the country’s large-scale renewable energy target has been reached, she said, “the fundamentals for wind are so good a market of up to 2 gigawatts is expected by 2020.”

Brazil: Wind

Brazil is another maturing renewable energy market where GWEC sees ongoing opportunities for wind in 2020. The wind industry group expects growth in Brazilian installations, along with those in Argentina and Chile, that will come from the execution of auctioned capacity and growing opportunities for bilateral power-purchase agreements.

Chile: Solar and wind

Chile has long been seen as one of Latin America’s strongest markets for renewables, and the country continues to attract investment from solar developers such as Spain's Solarpack. “Opportunities can still arise for new solar capacity” in the country, said Solarpack’s CEO, Pablo Burgos, although it remains to be seen whether investor confidence might be dented by the anti-government protests that erupted in October.

China: Solar and wind

China is hardly a new market for wind and solar, but the offshore wind market “is expected to almost double [in 2020] compared to 2019,” said Rolf Kragelund, director for global offshore wind at Wood Mackenzie. GWEC estimates the offshore wind market could hit 4 gigawatts of capacity. Turning to PV, Wood Mackenzie believes a subsidy-free project pipeline could add 9 gigawatts of capacity to the grid in 2020.

Ethiopia: Solar

Ethiopia’s hydro-heavy generation mix means the country already has enviable levels of clean energy on the grid. The trouble is that most of the country's residents aren’t on the grid, which is why Ethiopia is looking to boost solar development, said Global Green Growth Institute Director General Frank Rijsberman. “You can put solar on the rooftops, and [then have] mini grids and smaller independent systems” sited in rural areas, Rijsberman said. “Small...utility-scale solar that can deal with secondary cities and so on: That, I think, is the future.”

Greece: Solar

Greece is one of several European markets that Solarpack's Burgos is keeping an eye on in 2020. Renewables investment could benefit from the Greek administration’s decision to phase out coal generation by 2028, announced in September. “Greece is the only country in Southeast Europe to have announced a coal phaseout date,” noted advocacy group Europe Beyond Coal in a press statement. “Details of the strategy to achieve the target will be announced by the end of 2019."

Hungary: Solar

Like Greece, Hungary in Eastern Europe has announced plans to abandon coal, with a switch-off date of 2030. In November, the Hungarian Energy and Public Utility Regulatory Authority launched the nation’s first renewable energy auction, giving clarity to the future project pipeline. Burgos said Hungary is now among the European markets “putting solar schemes at the forefront of their renewable energy commitments.”

India: Solar

India’s massive and multifaceted solar market continues to deliver opportunities for investors, with Wood Mackenzie’s Q2 2019 Global Solar PV Market Outlook reporting on “auction activity starting to pick up now that [the] election period is over.” Long-term solar growth in the country is likely to be buoyed by a government target of 500 gigawatts of renewable generation by 2030.

Indonesia: Solar

With its vast population and 6,000 or so inhabited islands, Indonesia harbors massive potential for solar developers. So far, progress has been sluggish, with a rooftop net metering scheme failing to stimulate interest. However, lawmakers changed the rules for rooftop PV in October, potentially paving the way for increased growth. Indonesia only had around 60 megawatts of solar installed at the end of last year but plans to boost capacity to 6.5 gigawatts by 2025.

Netherlands: Solar

Although relatively mature, the Dutch solar market still has plenty of room for near-term growth, with 5 gigawatts of capacity expected to be installed between 2019 and 2020. Despite the country’s low irradiance, its "support mechanisms, in the form of feed-in tariffs and tax incentives, help to boost solar” there, said Burgos.

New Zealand: Wind

Wood Mackenzie’s wind power outlook for Asia-Pacific gained a lift from an unusual source in September. The analyst firm reported that contract wins in New Zealand would “boost an otherwise dormant market” in Asia-Pacific. Just two large projects, Waipipi and Turitea, added 252 megawatts of capacity to New Zealand’s wind industry pipeline this year. The question now is whether that momentum will be sustained in 2020.

Oman: Solar

Middle Eastern markets remain a magnet for PV developers thanks to their excellent solar resource, growing energy needs and often favorable regulation. In its Q2 2019 Global Solar PV Market Outlook, Wood Mackenzie singled out Oman for special treatment. “Competitive state tenders continue to be launched at a fast clip, including 1,100 megawatts of new project sites at Manah,” WoodMac said.

Poland: Solar

GTM highlighted Poland’s growing wind potential last year. Despite previous setbacks, the country now seems earnest in wanting to foster renewables, with offshore wind in particular looking to benefit. Solar developers are keen to grab a piece of the action, too. Burgos said the Polish solar market had much in common with Hungary. Both states “have committed to reduce their carbon footprint and both are supporting PV with feed-in tariff models,” he said.

South Africa: Wind

South Africa’s once-vibrant renewable energy market has had a rocky few years courtesy of Eskom, the nation’s beleaguered electricity behemoth. But with the too-big-to-fail state utility slowly getting its affairs back under control, the picture for wind is improving, said Ohlenforst. “After two years of pausing, installations are [set] to pick up again in 2020,” she predicted, with the market poised to top 700 megawatts next year.

South Korea: Wind and solar

South Korea “would like to scale up” on renewables, said Rijsberman of the Global Green Growth Institute. “They have the money [and] the government has the targets.” The problem for developers is finding affordable land in the crowded country, he said. This is hampering efforts to scale up solar development and increasingly putting the focus on offshore wind as a major contributor to South Korea’s clean energy plans.

Ukraine: Solar

Last year the Ukraine was enthusiastically hyped as a wind destination. And in October the market delivered with the announcement of Europe’s largest onshore wind farm, a 750-megawatt monster in the southeast of the country. The country’s PV market, which is now approaching 3 gigawatts of capacity, also remains buoyant despite moves to replace feed-in tariffs with an auction system. Developers such as Solarpack and Scatec Solar are eyeing the market, with the latter installing its first Ukrainian plant in August.

U.S.: Wind and solar

Even as the renewables industry waits to see if there will be an extension to the supporting federal tax credits, developers are bullish about the U.S. market. In the immediate term, the country is in the middle of its biggest-ever build-out of onshore wind capacity, and the offshore market is taking off as East Coast states increase their targets.

Vietnam: Wind

The end of a generous feed-in tariff in June this year saw developers rushing to connect almost 4.5 gigawatts of PV capacity to the grid in a matter of months. Now that the solar rush is over, the government is looking to repeat the trick with wind, also offering enticing incentives, said Rijsberman. “A lot of companies are now doing the same thing for wind in Vietnam as they were doing for large-scale solar,” he said. “What hasn’t really happened yet is rooftop solar, partly because the regulation doesn’t favor it.”

European Pirates voted against the new European Commission

 Cache

In today’s vote, Pirates MEPs voted against the new European Commission under the leadership of Ursula von der Leyen. Neither the digital policy, nor the personal composition, nor the process of Commission setup are satisfactory.

Pirates disagree on the program, which is often in direct contradiction with the principles of free internet and respect for fundamental human rights and freedoms, such as the right to privacy. “Ursula von der Leyen advocates upload filters, and even on such a simple matter as promising not to deepen the interference with the privacy of Europe’s citizens (surveillance moratorium), she failed to make a clear commitment,” said Marcel Kolaja, head of the Pirates’ delegation. “Freedom of the Internet and digital rights are key issues for our voters and us, which we have come to defend in the European Parliament, and this Commission does not have our confidence,” said Pirate MEP Patrick Breyer.

The newly elected Commission shall act as defender of the Treaties in the member states. “Commissioners nominated by Hungary, Poland or Czechia remain in close contact with the ruling nationalistic parties of the countries. Such a conflict of interests effectively prevents independent actions on behalf of Commission to protect the Rule of law in the countries,” comments Mikuláš Peksa, chairperson of the European Pirate party. “French commissioner Breton responsible for IT industry is close to the board of a major digital company thus establishing a danger for data protection of European citizens. ” adds Peksa.

The nomination of Ursula von der Leyen to the position of Commission President is a major problem. We support direct involvement of citizens in European affairs. The Councils decision to appoint a person who was not participating in the European election is not acceptable. “The citizens of Europe did not have enough opportunities to form and express their opinion on von der Leyen because she was not a Spitzenkandidat. It is an arrogance of the Council to withdraw your Spitzenkandidat and nominate someone else. That is why I say that Ursula von der Leyen’s nomination has a democratic deficit,” said Markéta Gregorová, vice-chairperson of the European Pirate Party.

14.12. Tupu Ylä-Anttila: Habsburg Female Regents in the Early 16th Century

 Cache

In this work, I examine the education of princesses and forms of female power in the 16th -century through three women of the Habsburg family – Margaret of Austria (1480–1530), Mary of Hungary (1505–58) and Juana of Austria (1535–73) – all of whom acted as regents for Emperor Charles V (1500–1558) either in the Netherlands or in Spain. Great hopes had been laid on Charles, in his youth, as the ruler who would unite Christendom and bring peace. Erasmus of Rotterdam dedicated his Institutio principis Christiani to Charles in 1516. My work asks, what happened when the Habsburg princes shared their power with their sisters and daughters?

I argue that female regency in the Habsburg family needs to be considered as a form of queenship. The three princesses studied in this work reflect the changes in the expanding empire of Charles V. At the same time, the image of an ideal queen was evolving. One aspect of the queen-like regency was their status as childless widows combined with a motherly role towards royal children in their care. This, I argue, reveals how they used the regency to resist marriage plans, and in turn, remained unmarried to maintain their regency.

This work gives a new interpretation to previous studies that have considered these women mainly as parts of the Habsburg imperial political machinery. Here, the means and limits of female political power are investigated by asking how they acquired the skills they needed for governing, persuading the emperor and arguing their viewpoint.

I want to challenge the view of the princesses as exceptionally cultivated women and offer instead a more variable picture of how the regents, with inadequate education for ruling, faced the challenges of governing. The principle of hereditary rule gave the Habsburg princesses unforeseen possibilities as regents. However, all the dynasty's princesses were educated to become queen consorts. On the one hand, I study the influence of the regents’ advisors. On the other hand, I consider the impact of the contemporary ideals on queenship, as well as the influence of humanist thought and religious reformers. Through a case study of these three regents, my work shows how and with what tools the Habsburg women were able to act as alter-egos of the emperor and to adjust to the changing political situations.

The princess regents’ correspondence forms the central part of the sources used for this work. The regency formally required the princess only to represent the authority of the absent ruler. The crucial role of the princesses was, nevertheless, to use their correspondence as the ruler’s connection to the region’s government. The correspondence was also their channel for persuasion and influence.

FabLab Hungary

Using Innovation to bridge inequality gaps among children and youth in the city of Győ**r.**

Terms of Reference

*Feasibility study on the inclusiveness, operation and outreach to the target communities of the FabLab project in the city of Győ**r.***

Background information:

With a population of just under 10 million inhabitants, Hungary is made up of contrasting regions when it comes to economic and social development. It hosts one of the top ten most disadvantaged micro-regions in the EU and the unemployment rates vary from over 10% to as low as 3%. These disparities are further exacerbated by low economic mobility and insufficient professional reconversion strategies. The city of Győr belongs to one of the most developed regions in Hungary (Western Transdanubia). With a vibrant economy (and one of the highest GDP score in the country, outside Budapest) and several industries and service sectors well developed, it boasts an unemployment rate of just 4%. Against this background of apparent prosperity, the most economically disadvantaged group of the population in Győr is the Roma minority which is estimated at up to 7 000 people. Disadvantaged children from the Roma community despite this favourable context do not reap its benefits and their current and future cultural, social and economic opportunities are significantly below that of the majority. Significant difficulties are apparent in schooling, integration and pathways to employment. In order to capture those at risk of being left behind and increasingly marginalised there is a need to provide new and creative leaning and development opportunities that can provide a complementary development path

The initiative will set up a FabLab in Győr and use this as the center of several activities targeting disadvantaged children with the aim of fostering their inclusion and development.

A FabLab (coming from the contraction of the words ‘fabrication laboratory’) is a physical space putting various tools related to digital fabrication at the disposal of its visitors. A FabLab is generally equipped with an array of flexible computer-controlled tools that cover several different length scales and various materials.

First and foremost the project will offer an innovative way to engage with and develop disadvantaged children who are at risk of exclusion and reduced life opportunities. Schools and social services are increasingly exploring new ways in which the individual educational and development needs of disadvantaged children can be met.

FabLab offers an exceptional opportunity to provide an alternative and complementary educational and development setting. The Fablab provides a controlled and safe environment for children and youth to engage with technology in creative processes which develop skills, confidence and individual and team awareness. The project will build on the existing Fablab work of Terre des hommes, existing FabLabs in Hungary and also look to other projects of relevance such as the transnational and cross border work of the Interreg pilot FabLab projects FabLab intends to provide an inspiring example of what can be achieved

This two-year project seeks to achieve the following specific objectives:

● Skill-building: Engage and familiarize disadvantaged children and youth to use innovative methods and specialized equipment to produce wide range of objects and at the same time work towards developing soft skills

● Social Inclusion: The social inclusion of disadvantaged children and youth increases as well as their connectedness through the establishment of positive social networks

● Empowerment: The self confidence of disadvantaged children and youth is increased through their participation in the project and the acquisition of new skills and friendships.

Objective of this consultancy:

This consultancy will deal with the first key activity of this project by conducting an assessment of the accessibility and inclusiveness that a FabLab can provide for the target group.

The objectives of this work are :

To conduct an assessment related to the accessibility, inclusiveness and safety of the chosen space where the FabLab will operate and of the overall approach towards the participation of the disadvantaged children and youth in the city of Győr

➢ To assess the project outreach strategy with regards to the direct and indirect target groups in the city of Győr;

The research should include at a minimum (list not exhaustive):

  1. Inclusiveness of the approach towards the participation of disadvantaged children and youth in the city of Győr.

  2. Physical accessibility of the space by children and youth, encompassing all the barriers that might make this space unaccessible for children and youth.

  3. Safety and child safeguarding considerations that the space may (or not) generate

  4. Assessment of the chosen technical equipment for the implementation of the project

  5. Assessment of the curricula and methodology chosen to achieve the objectives of the project

  6. Assessment of the established partnerships and collaborations geared towards the implementation of the project

The research methodology will include at a minimum:

  1. Review of background documents and curricula proposed

2. Field visit to Győr and observation

3. Focus groups discussions and/or semi structured interviews with children and other actors involved in the project ( Győr and Budapest)

Expected deliverable of this consultancy:

● A draft feasibility study on the accessibility, outreach and impact the FabLab project can have on the disadvanted children and youth in the city of Győr.

This will also include:

a. a set of recommendations geared towards maximising the impact of the space potential to reach out to the most marginalised and disadvantaged childrenin the city of Győr, factoring in contextual and cultural hindrances to be overcome.

b. A set of recommendations for an outreach strategy towards the participation of disadvantaged children and young people in the city of Győr.

● A corresponding final feasibility study after review of first draft by implementing organisations

No reason given for withdrawal from show, called ‘homosexual flotilla’ by pro-Orbán journalist

Dr. Nagy Zsigmond: Országos jelentőségű a Giro d’Italia

 Cache
Dr. Nagy Zsigmond: Országos jelentőségű a Giro d’Italia A GiroHungary2020 csapata szerdán a rajt- és célvárosok (Budapest, Győr, Székesfehérvár, Nagykanizsa), illetve a fővárosi kerületek vezetőinek tartott prezentációt a Millennium Házában, a Városligetben. A Nemzeti Sportügynökség által szervezett rendezvényen a városvezetők bepillantást kaphattak a jövő májusban hazánkban rajtoló Giro d’Italia kulisszái mögé – természetesen többen közülük már eddig is sokat tudtak a világ egyik legnagyobb országúti versenyéről, hiszen hónapok óta folynak az egyeztetések –, kikérték a véleményüket, és a közös munka részleteiről is szó esett sportszakmai, marketing és turisztikai szempontból egyaránt. Dr. Nagy Zsigmond, a Nemzeti Sportügynökség ügyvezető igazgatója elmondta, a Giro magyarországi rajtja hatalmas lehetőség az érintett városok számára, ezért is volt fontos, hogy személyesen is találkozhattak velük. „Országos jelentőségű eseményről beszélünk, így az együttműködés, a jó partneri viszony közös érdek – mondta Dr. Nagy Zsigmond. – A szervezett magyar sport 1875, vagyis a Magyar Atlétikai Club megalakulása óta datálódik, ami nyilván hatalmas mérföldkő, de majdnem ugyanilyen lesz a kerékpársport szempontjából 2020, hiszen ilyen szintű országúti versenyt először rendezhetünk. – Ennek megfelelően ezek legszebb részeit kell megmutatnunk, a legjobb pillanatokban, a legjobban feldíszítve, s ami talán a legfontosabb: a legnagyobb biztonsággal.

Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Suffered at the Hands of Her Own Family

 Cache

"Priests, my Son's ministers, priests, by their evil life, by their irreverences and their impiety in celebrating the holy mysteries, love of money, love of honor and pleasures, priests have become sewers of impurity. Yes, priests call forth vengeance, and vengeance is suspended over their heads. Woe to priests, and to persons consecrated to God, who by their infidelities and their evil life are crucifying my Son anew! The sins of persons consecrated to God cry to heaven and call for vengeance, and now here is vengeance at their very doors, for no longer is anyone found to beg mercy and pardon for the people; there are no more generous souls, there is now no one worthy of offering the spotless Victim to the Eternal on the worlds behalf.

"God will strike in an unparalleled manner. Woe to the inhabitants of the earth! God will exhaust His anger, and no one will be able to escape so many evils at once. The heads, the leaders of the people of God, have neglected prayer and penance, and the devil has darkened their minds; they have become those wandering stars which the ancient devil will drag with his tail to destruction. God will permit the ancient serpent to sow divisions among rulers, in all societies and in all families; both physical and moral punishments will be suffered. God will abandon men to themselves and will send chastisements one after the other for over 35 years.

"Society is on the very eve of most terrible scourges and greatest events; one must expect to be governed by a rod of iron and to drink the chalice of God's wrath. (The Message of Our Lady of La Salette.)

The era of apostasy and betrayal in which we live has indeed sown divisions all across the vast expanse of the ecclesiastical divide, especially in our families. There is hardly a family in the Church today that has not been riven by the events of the past fifty years. A state of "cold war" exists in so many families over the most important matter in their lives: the salvation of their immortal souls as members of the Catholic Church. Husbands and wives, parents and children, brothers and sisters are estranged from each other as the adversary seeks to embitter hearts in the midst of his advances in the popular culture and within the counterfeit church of conciliarism itself.

These family divisions exist even in families who are immersed in all things conciliar, including their "full, active and conscious" participation in the Protestant and Masonic Novus Ordo service. A wife, for instances, might see, at least in shadow form, "problems" with the Novus Ordo while her husband does not, considering that any discussion of "problems" is a sign of "disloyalty" to the "pope" and to the Church. A husband might want to enforce standards of modesty within his household, only to find that his wife has received carte blanche from their local conciliar "pastor" to dress herself and her children as she pleases. Some other wife, fearful of the curriculum found in their local conciliar schools, might want to home school her children while encountering deep resistance from her husband. Other families in the conciliar structures are torn apart on matters of whether to watch television at all, no less the offensive programming that is broadcast around the clock each day, and whether to consider "rock music" evil, finding little comfort and support from their local "pastors," especially when "youth" "Masses" feature "rock music" and immodesty.

Some families are riven over the most basic issues of the Faith: Who is God? Why should I obey Him? Why are His Commandments unchanging? Why should I believe that there is one, true Church? What can't I dress as I want and watch what I want on television at at the movies? Why don't all people go to Heaven no matter what they believe or how they behave? Why do I have to pray to Mary when I can go "straight" to Jesus Himself? Who says there is a Purgatory? What's the big deal about shopping on Sunday? Why can't women be priests? Why can't I limit the number of children I want to have? Who says women can't wear pants and short skirts and sleeveless blouses? Why can't men walk around shirtless or sleeveless themselves?

Such has been the triumph of the conciliar revolution that large numbers of baptized Catholics get married even as they have been denied a true understanding and love of the Holy Faith, leading to untold amounts of grief in the future in the event that one spouse actually grows in the Faith and wants his family's life to revolve around It so that each family member can strive for sanctity and be in Heaven for all eternity. All manner of "mixed marriages" exist even between baptized Catholics as one spouse's belief in and commitment to the Faith varies from the other spouse's. A desire to grow in sanctity on the part of one spouse can clash with the other spouse's desire to be worldly and to be accepted as "normal" by others who are equally worldly.

This is a problem that exists across the ecclesiastical divide, but it is heightened considerably when one spouse embraces the Immemorial Mass of Tradition while the other "prefers" the Protestant and Masonic Novus Ordo service, no less when one spouse comes to understand that the Catholic Church cannot be responsible for the novelties and abominations and sacrileges and blasphemies of the past fifty years while the other spouse thinks that such a conclusion is a sign of "mental illness." Hard feelings are sometimes engendered. Battle lines are drawn. Phone calls are made to relatives and friends to convince the "wacko" spouse who is committed to that "old Mass" and/or who believes that the "pope" is not the pope that he is wrong and in need of psychological, if not psychiatric, assistance. Imagine being "different from others, especially when somewhere around 99.99% of people completely reject any semblance of a view that the "Vatican," of all places, is wrong about the "new" "Mass" and false ecumenism and religious liberty and separation of Church and State?

The battles that have been and continue to be fought within families as a result of the loss of the Faith are tragic. Children are sometimes told that their father or their mother (whichever the case might be) is in need of "help" because he or she has been inspired by Our Lady's graces to quit the ways of the world and to grow in sanctity. People who have studied nothing of First and Last Things and who have a contempt for the glories of the lives of the saints consider themselves "expert" about the Faith, being reaffirmed these days in their utter ignorance by men masquerading as "bishops" and "priests" in the conciliar structures.

What?

Embrace a life of Holy Poverty?

Renounce the acquisition of more material goods?

Vacation only where one can find a true offering of the Mass at the hands of a true bishop or a true priest who makes no concessions to conciliarism?

Throw out the television?

Don't participate in the devil's holiday on October 31?

Don't participate in "holiday" parties during Advent?

What?

Be different from the rest of the world?

Why, why, this is, this is, this is crazy, isn't it?

Being "misunderstood" by one's closest relatives is certainly a difficult cross. So what? Nothing we suffer in this passing, mortal vale of tears is the equal of what one of our least Venial Sins caused Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to suffer during His Passion and Death as those Seven Swords of Sorrow were plunged into His Most Blessed Mother's Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart. Rejected, misunderstood?

So what?

Everything gets revealed on the Last Day at the General Judgment of the Living and the Dead. The intentions of all hearts and the circumstances of each life will be revealed then. While we pray for those who we believe have misunderstood us in this life and those who might even have rejected us, we may have to wait, barring Divine intervention in many cases, until the Last Day for a reconciliation with those from whom we have become estranged as a result the events of our current circumstances in the Church and the world.

For those who are suffering at the hands of family members because of their embrace of the Faith and/or because of their having come to see the truth of our ecclesiastical situation, the great and wonderful and humble saint we commemorate today, Saint Elizabeth of Hungary, one of the earliest followers of Saint Francis of Assisi, should be embraced as a model and intercessor par excellence. Saint Elizabeth of Hungary, who was married at the age of fourteen to her husband, Louis of Thuringia, was misunderstood by most of those who lived in Wartburg Castle. Saint Elizabeth was held in particular disdain by her brothers-in-law during her husband's life because of what was considered to be her "eccentric" habit of giving away everything that she had to the poor. These same brothers-in-law drove her out of the castle entirely after Louis, known in the German language as Ludwig, and then spoke against her to the very poor people who she had assisted so generously when her husband was alive.

Consider this passage from Blanche Jennings Thompson's magnificent Saint Elizabeth's Three Crowns:

It was the third hard winter in village and castle. The weather was bitter cold, food was scarce, and tempers short in the Wartburg. Henry and Conrad [Louis's brothers] meant very well, but they did not understand Elizabeth. Without Louis to protect her, they treated her with little respect. Henry scolded and Conrad sneered. To them she was just queer and unreasonable. She made everybody uncomfortable, they said. Nobody likes to have his conscience prodding him constantly, and that was the effect that Elizabeth seemed to have on other people.

Landgravine Sophie [Louis's mother] stayed at the castle and tried to defend Elizabeth. there was now a strong bond between them. They had both loved Louis deeply. But, in spite of Sophie's sympathy, Elizabeth was ill-treated in the castle. It is hard to say whether or not Henry and Conrad deliberately turned people against her, but they certainly did nothing to protect her. Guda and Ysentrud shuddered at the cruel talk they heard again, just as in the olden days when Elizabeth was the little strange princess from Hungary. Even then she disturbed the ladies of the court by being "too pious," "too religious," or by "trying to act holy."

Down in the village the people whispered what they had heard from the servants in the castle.

"She wasted all the landgrave's money--gave it to undeserving beggars."

"Yes, and remember how she gave away the precious grain right and left? She should never have been trusted with money."

"It is a good thing that Prince Henry knows how to be firm with her. He has put strong locks on the granaries and gives her no money at all. Louis was always too lenient."

The minds of the people were poisoned against Elizabeth. The very ones whom she had nursed and cared for turned against her now.

One dark, cold night she suddenly made up her mind. She walked down the icy path to the village, leaning on cane for safety's sake. She planned to find some place for herself and the children to live. There were lights in several houses, and she tried one after another.

"Who is there?"

"The landgravine, May I come in?"

Silence. No one would open. At last a tavern-keeper took pity on her and let her stay in an old tool shed.

"I will drive out the pigs, my lady," he said, so that you can sleep."

Some old work clothes hung on a hook. These he put on a bench and over her knees and left her. There she sat in the cold until dawn. Then she heard the Mass bell from the Franciscan church.

The friars were chanting their morning prayers when they saw in the half darkness the figure of the landgravine. She walked toward the altar, surrounded by the light of their candles as by a glory, and began in a clear voice to sing the Te Deum. After a startled moment the friars joined her. She was welcome in the House of God.

Elizabeth had always wanted to give up everything and be a beggar like Brother Francis [of Assisi]. This was her change Guda and Ysentrud [her loyal attendants] brought the children down to her, and she took them with her as she begged from house to house. But door after door was shut in her face. The royal princess, Elizabeth of Hungary, Landgravine of Thuringia, accompanied by the royal children, were turned away by her subjects. Guda and Ysentrud wept bitterly.

A poor priest gave them shelter and a bed of straw, but orders came from the castle that they must all move immediately to the home of a certain nobleman who was an especial enemy of Elizabeth. Unwilling to offend Henry, he did give them a small dark room, but refused food, heat, or any other comfort. The next day Elizabeth took her little family back to the friendly tavernkeeper's shed. Before she left, she touched the walls of the room as she used to as a child in the Wartburg Castle.

"Thank you, kind walls," she said, "for sheltering us against the weather as well as you could. I should like to thank you master, but I have nothing to thank him for."

Of course Elizabeth could not keep the children with her in the kind of life she was leading. She had to send them to trusted friends of their father--at least for a time. She herself continued to live in the shed, supporting herself by spinning and weaving. Something deep in her heart had made her turn from the medieval idea of servant and master. Long, long before the rest of the world would accept the doctrine of brotherhood, she, like St. Francis, believed in the equality of men. She preferred poverty to luxury made possible by the misery and labor of serfs and slaves. In spite of her sufferings, she was happy to be like Christ. [Blanche Jennings Thompson, Saint Elizabeth's Three Crowns, Vision Books: Farrar, Straus and Cudahy, 1958, pp. 150-153.]

Yes, many even in a Catholic world at the beginning of the Thirteenth Century thought that anyone who took the Faith too seriously and saw the very image of the suffering Christ in the faces of the poor was just a little "nuts," a little "crazy" in the head. What? Pray a lot before the Blessed Sacrament? Practice severe mortifications? That's just not quite right, huh? "Normal" people don't do such things. Ah, may we all be as crazy as Saint Elizabeth of Hungary and suffer much from those around us for being so! Such is the path to sanctity by dying to self and disordered self-love.

Saint Elizabeth forgave her persecutors, her own brothers-in-law. She forgave the poor people whom she served so generously when she was their queen. Imbued with the spirit of Saint Francis of Assisi, who said "Deo Gratias!" whenever he was spat upon or beaten up by thieves or insulted by worldly Catholics, Saint Elizabeth never harbored grudges. She willed the good of those who insulted her, those who calumniated her, those who subject her to homelessness and a life, if for a time, of begging from door to door. She imitated her Divine Redeemer, who forgave and made excuses for His executioners, namely, each one of us by means of our sins, as He hung on the gibbet of the Holy Cross. We can do no less. We must will the eternal good of all men, especially those of our own households who may, for one reason or another, hold us in the same contempt with which Saint Elizabeth of Hungary was held by her brothers-in-law (and by her mother-in-law before she had a change of heart over the years) and her fellow countrymen who had benefited so much from her selfless acts of generosity in their behalf.

Our Lady of La Salette predicted that families would be torn apart. As noted before, we must pray for a happy reconciliation in eternity with all of those from whom we are estranged in this life. Nothing matters save that we save our immortal souls as members of the Catholic Church who die in states of Sanctifying Grace. No amount of misunderstand, ridicule, ostracism, rejection, humiliation or other injustices at the hands of others matter at all. Our sins did far worse to Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and His Most Blessed Mother. We must accept the sufferings of the present moment with joy and with gratitude, always remembering friend and regrettable foe in the Memento for the Living in the Canon of the Mass and remembering those who have died in the Memento for the Dead in the Canon.

Saint Elizabeth of Hungary, who was indeed an exemplar of the Social Reign of Christ the King (and suffered for it in her own castle!), can help reunite divided families in eternity, if not before, if we turn to her Heavenly intercession.

The Divine Office for today's feast highlights the virtues of this truly wondrous daugher of Saint Francis of Assisi:

Elisabeth, daughter of Andrew II., King of Hungary, was born in the year 1207. She began to fear God even from a little child, and grew in grace as she grew in years. (In her fourteenth year) she was married to Lewis, Landgrave of Hesse and Thuringia, and thenceforth gave herself up to the things of her husband, with as much zeal as to the things of God. She rose in the night to make long prayers. She consecrated herself to works of mercy. She waited continually on widows and orphans, the sick and the needy. When a sore famine came in the year 1225, she provided corn bountifully from her own house. She founded an house of refuge for lepers, and would even kiss their hands and feet. She built also a great hospital for the suffering and starving poor.

After husband died (on his way to the Holy War, on the eleventh day of September, 1227.) Then Elizabeth, more utterly to be God's only, laid aside all the garments of earthly state, clad herself in mean raiment, and entered the Third Order of St Francis, wherein she was a burning and shining light of longsuffering and lowliness. (Her brotherin-law) stripped her (and her three little children) of all their goods, and turned them out of their own house. She was deserted by all, and assailed with insults, gibes, and calumnies, but she bore it all with patience, yea, even rejoicing that she suffered such things for God's sake. She gave herself to the meanest services toward the poor and sick, and sought for them the needfuls of life, while she lived herself only on potherbs and vegetables.

In these and many other holy works she prayerfully passed the rest of her life, till (in the twenty-fourth year of her age,) the end of her earthly pilgrimage came, as she had already foretold to her servants. With her eyes fixed on heaven, absorbed in the thought of God, by Him wondrously comforted, and strengthened by the Sacraments, she fell asleep in the Lord, (upon the 19th day of November, in the year of salvation 1231. ) Forthwith many miracles were wrought at her grave, which being known and duly proved, Gregory IX. numbered her name among those of the Saints. (Matins, The Divine Office, Feast of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary.)

Dom Prosper Gueranger summarized the life of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary as follows in The Liturgical Year:

Although the blessed in heaven shine each with his own peculiar glory, God is pleased to group them in families, as he groups the stars in the material firmament. It is grace that presides over the arrangement of these constellations in the heaven of the saints; but sometimes it seems as if God wished to remind us that He is the sole Author of both grace and nature; and inviting them, in spite of the fall, to honour Him unitedly in His elect. He causes sanctity to become a glorious heirloom, handed down from generation to generation in the same family on earth. Among these races none can compare with that royal line which, beginning in ancient Pannomia, spread its branches over the world in the most flourishing days of Christendom: ‘Rich in virtue and studying beautifulness’, as Scripture says, it brought peace to all the royal houses of Europe with which it was allied; and the many names it has inscribed in the golden boo of the blessed perpetuate its glory.

Among these illustrious names, and surrounded by them as a diamond set in a circle of pearls, the greatest, in the esteem of the Church and of the people, is that of the amiable saint, who was ripe for heaven at the age of twenty-four years, and who ascended on this day into the company of Stephen, Emeric, and Ladislas. Elizabeth was not inferior to them in manly virtues; but the simplicity of her loving soul added to the heroism of her race a sweetness, whose fragrance drew after her along the path of sanctity her daughter Gertrude of Thuringia, and her relatives Hedwige of Silesia, Agnes of Bohemia, Margaret of Hungary, Cunigund of Poland, and Elizabeth of Portugal.

All the poetry of those chivalrous times appears in the beautiful pages of contemporaneous writers, as they describe to us the innocent child transplanted like a tender flower from the court of Hungary to that of Thuringia; and her life of devotedness there, with a bridegroom worthy to witness the ecstasies of her lofty but ingenuous piety and to defend her heroic virtue against her slanderers. To the stewards who complained that during the absence of Duke Lewis she had, in spite of their remonstrances, exhausted the revenues upon the poor, he replied, ‘I desire that my Elizabeth be at liberty to act as she wishes, provided she leaves me Wartburg and Naumburg.’ Our Lord opened the landgrave’s eyes to see transformed into beautiful roses the provisions Elizabeth was carrying to the poor. Jesus crucified appeared in the leper she had taken into her own apartments that she might the better tend him. If it happened that illustrious visitors arrived unexpectedly, and the duchess having bestowed all her jewels in alms was unable to adorn herself becomingly to do them honour, the angels so well supplied the deficiency that, according to the German chroniclers of the time, it seemed to the astonished guests that the queen of France herself could not have appeared more strikingly beautiful or more richly attired.

Elizabeth indeed was never wanting to any of the obligations or requirements of her position as a wife and as a sovereign princess. As graciously simple in her virtues as she was affable to all, she could not understand the gloomy moroseness which some affected in their prayers and austerities. ‘They look as if they wanted to frighten our Lord,’ she would say, ‘whereas He loves the cheerful giver.’

The time soon came when he herself had to give generously without counting the cost. First there was the cruel separation from her husband, Duke Lewis, on his departure for the crusade; then the heartening scene when his death was announced to her, just as she was about to give birth to their fourth child; and thirdly the atrocious act of Henry Raspon, the landgrave’s unworthy brother, who, thinking this a good opportunity for seizing the deceased’s estates, drove out his widow and children and forbade anyone to give them hospitality. Then, in the very land where every misery had been succoured by her charity, Elizabeth was reduced to the necessity of begging, and not without many rebuffs, a little bread for her poor children, and of seeking shelter with them in a pigsty.

On the return of the knights who had accompanied Duke Lewis to the Holy Land, justice was at length done to our saint. But Elizabeth, who had become the passionate lover of holy poverty, chose to remain among the poor. She was the first professed Tertiary of the Seraphic Order; and the mantle sent by St. Francis to his very dear daughter became her own only treasure. The path of perfect self-renunciation soon brought her to the threshold of heaven. She who, twenty years before, had been carried to her betrothed in a silver cradle and robed in silk and gold, now took her flight to God from a wretched hovel, her only garment being a patched gown. The minstrels, whose gay competitions had signalized the year of her birth, were no longer there; but the angels were heard singing, as they bore her up to heaven: ‘The kingdom of this world have I despised for the love of Jesus Christ my Lord, whom I have seen, whom I have loved, in whom I have believed, whom I have tenderly loved.’

Four years later, Elizabeth, now declared a saint by the Vicar of Christ, behold all the nations of the holy Empire, with the emperor himself at their head, hastening to Marburg, where she lay at rest in the midst of the poor whose life she had imitated. Her holy body was committed to the care of the Teutonic Knights, who in return for the honour made Marburg one of the headquarters of their Order, and raised to her name the first Gothic church in Germany. Numerous miracles long attracted the Christian world to the spot.

And now, though still standing, though still beautiful in its mourning, St. Elizabeth’s at Marburg knows it glorious title only by name. And at Wartburg, where the dear saint went through the sweetest episodes of her life as a child and as a bride, the great memorial now shown to the traveller is the pulpit of an excommunicated friar, and the inkstain with which, in a fit of folly or drunkenness, he had soiled the wall, as he afterwards endeavoured with his pen to profane and sully everything in the Church of God. (Dom Prosper Gueranger, The Liturgical Year: Time After Pentecost, Book VI, pp. 295-298.)

That friar, of course, was none other than the hideous heretic named Father Martin Luther, O.S.A., who has been praised by the conciliar “popes,” including, of course, the “restorer of tradition,” Joseph Alois Ratzinger/Benedict XVI, and Jorge Mario Bergoglio (see  and .)

Saint Elizabeth of Hungary embraced a life of asceticism as she, disdaining her royal privileges and accepting the injustices visited upon her by her mother-in-law and brothers-in-law, preferred to store up treasures in Heaven by her service to the poor and her humble acceptance of suffering for the love of Our Lord Jesus Christ Crucified. Saint Elizabeth of Hungary was humble and devout.

The hideous drunkard and lecher named Martin Luther was filled with pride and impiety, which are the exact same curses that afflicted each of the conciliar "popes."

May we make our own Dom Prosper Gueranger’s prayer to Saint Elizabeth of Hungary:

What a lesson thou leavest to the earth as thou mounted up to heaven. O blessed Elizabeth! We ask with the Church for ourselves and for all our brethren in the faith: may thy glorious prayers obtain from the God of mercy that our hearts may open to the light of thy life’s teaching, so that despising worldly prosperity we may rejoice in heavenly consolations. The Gospel read in thy honour to-day tells us that the kingdom of heaven is like to a hidden treasure, and to a precious pearl. Thou didst well understand this ‘good traffic,’ as the Epistle calls it, and it became the good fortune of all around thee: of thy happy subjects, who received from thee succour and assistance for both soul and body; of thy noble husband, who found an honourable place among those princes who knew how to exchange a perishable diadem for an eternal crown; in a word, all who belonged to thee. Thou wast their boast; and several among them followed in thy footsteps along the heavenward path of self-renunciation. How is it that others, in an age of destruction, could abjure their title of children of saints, and draw the people after them to deal so wantonly with the sweetest memorials and the noblest traditions? May our Lord restore to His Church and to thee the country where thou didst experience His love; may thy supplications, united with ours, revive the ancient faith in those branches of thy stock, which are no longer nourished with that life-giving sap; and may thy glorious trunk continue, in its faithful branches, to give saints to the world. (Dom Prosper Gueranger, The Liturgical Year: Time After Pentecost, Book VI,pp. 301-302.)

It might be a very good idea to send this prayer to a man is perhaps even more hideous and irresponsible than was Martin Luther, namely, Jorge Mario Bergoglio himself.

More importantly, of course, we need to invoke the heavenly intercession of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary every day so that we can have a happy reconciliation in heaven with all of those from whom we may be estranged, perhaps irreparably so, in this life because of the state of the world and the state of the Church Militant on earth in this time of apostasy and betrayal.

We would do well today to pray a Rosary in honor of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary as we ask the Queen of the Friars Minor, Our Lady herself, to exhibit the love of the Most Sacred Heart of her Divine Son that was exhibited so perfectly by Saint Elizabeth of Hungary, who now rests in the abode of that same Sacred Heart as she, Saint Elizabeth, gives praise to the Heart out of which It was formed, the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

The Holy Spirit "has come" - Faith Church, Hungary (90's)

 Cache
Faith Church is a megachurch and a Pentecostal Christian denomination in Hungary, established in 1978 (officially in 1989). Pastor S'andor N'emeth tells the prophecies to his believers and their strange reaction comes to them (jerking, excitement, running, trembling, raging), these reactions are similar to Satan's occupation (for someone else it can be funny or creepy). These recordings were not seen by many as they were quite rare and the first recording was deleted on one of the video sharing portals. You can see the dark secrets of the Faith Church from the past. About the uploader: I am not atheist, but I see this is a not very normal ceremony there.

The Site is formed of four separate areas composed of artificial fishponds, permanently flooded marshlands, a seasonally flooded sodic-alkaline pan, flooded woodland, and oxbow lakes lined with gallery forests. The sodic-alkaline pan is a type of continental saltwater body which is a typical wetland type in Hungary and characteristic of the Pannonic biogeographic region. The area is an important staging ground for waterbirds during the breeding and migration seasons, regularly supporting over 20,000 individuals. It hosts several noteworthy plant species and communities, including several endemic species. The Site has an important role in the retention and storage of inland water and regulation of the groundwater levels of the surrounding area. Land use is dedicated to extensive agriculture, forestry and aquaculture, as well as a research station, information centre and several observation hides. The main threats to the ecological character of the Site include decreasing groundwater levels and extensive agricultural pollution. In 2000, a cyanide spill caused by a gold mining company near Baia Mare in Romania leaked into the River Someş. The polluted waters eventually reached the Tisza and then the Danube, causing severe water pollution and killing large numbers of fish in Hungary and Serbia. A few small-scale habitat restoration programmes have been carried out on the Site and further restoration measures are planned.

**Comment of the Day**: _Graydon_ : 'Yup. Suleiman has a unified state; Suleiman has a sort of post-classical central bureaucracy able to make and sustain policy. Suleiman has a professional army. (And a less professional army.) And yet Suleiman couldn't quite take Vienna or make the conquest of Hungary stick; the result is not stable control of Hungary, but a hundred and fifty years of conflict which the Ottoman Empire eventually loses. This isn't the pattern Brad's talking about with Babur; that's an example of someone able not so much to achieve victory as to change the local rules of warfare in the process of achieving victory. Afterwards, the things which conferred power no longer do so. (Napoleon isn't usually thought of as an example but would be one.) Suleiman specifically and the Ottomans generally can't do that in Hungary; they're using the same rules the various European powers are using. They start with a significant advantage in application, but not a sufficient advantage; they haven't got the ability to change the rules... >...What's going on with Suleiman might be as simple as poor choice of objectives; a wiser commander would have attacked, not Vienna, but the reasons for a...

A comparative study of the gap between de-jure and de-facto language policies: the case of Kyrgyzstan and Hungary

 Cache
Title: A comparative study of the gap between de-jure and de-facto language policies: the case of Kyrgyzstan and Hungary Author(s): Mambetaliev, Askar Abstract: The purpose of this study was to find the main factors that guide language policies and discover correlations between top-down and bottom-up ideologies in the context of Hungary and Kyrgyzstan. To accomplish this, the study created a database of relevant official documents, photos of linguistic landscapes and qualitative data. The study analyzed the documented top-down decisions from historical perspectives, and then compared them with the data collected from interviews and surveys, and from the collection of photos. The participants included both high-ranking political figures, professors, students and random citizens. Results showed that the official policies often do not comprehensively match with the people’s beliefs, attitudes and desires. Findings also imply that using either document analysis, or the method of linguistic landscape, or qualitative methods alone, might not sufficiently validate the results in the absence of each other, since errors may top up from various discrepancies between top-down and bottom-up arrangements, as well as from overt and covert ideologies.; Šio tyrimo tikslas – nustatyti pagrindinius faktorius, kurie nulemia kalbų politiką, ir atrasti koreliacijas tarp ideologijų „iš viršaus į apačią“ bei „iš apačios į viršų“ Vengrijos ir Kirgizijos kontekste.
