Kreamer Elementary moves full STEAM ahead

 Cache
To celebrate the opening of its new science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics lab later this fall, Kreamer Street Elementary School in the South Country Central School District hosted STEAM Day on Sept. 27. Sponsored by the PTA, STEAM Day hosted Mr. AJ from Mobile Education Productions, Inc. to introduce students to STEAM concepts. “All of what you do each day is made available through STEAM,” Mr. AJ told the students. Students entering the gymnasium had a choice of STEAM centers that were part of an interactive museum, including the building of a Roman arch, modern structures building and gears, robots, a plasma sphere, circuitry, a music maker, a STEAM arcade, 3D printing and more. Teacher organizer Gina Benzie said the goal of the program is to allow the students to explore through doing, introduce them to STEAM concepts and to excite them about having their own STEAM lab this fall.

DesignerCon 2019: Review (Part 1 of 2)

 Cache
By Eric Harris

8.3 miles of arts, toys, collectables and more!!! DesignerCon is one of the biggest names in the Southern California design scene. The Things To Do In LA team spent two days exploring the nooks and crannies of booths and exhibits from 700 vendors and 300+ artists.

DesignerCon is a multi-genre, multi-disciplinary design-related convention. Envision an expensive Designer Toys and collectibles swap-meet. You’ll find $5 enamel pins next to $20,000 drip art robot sculptures adjacent to prints of sloths decorated in the style of Mexican wrestlers. The fun is in the sheer volume and variety of wacky apparel, plush dolls, printed art work, sculptures, fantasy taxidermy, video game art, tiki culture, 3D printing, and good old-fashioned vinyl and plastic toys.

Artists design trends included a notable 1980s and early 1990s USA media influence. Bob Ross, the Gremlins, ET, the Goonies, VHS cassettes, and Japanese manga/anime Akira themes were rampant, much like motorcycle gangs roaming the streets of Neo-Tokyo. We found more Golden Girls merchandise than ever before. Weird! Who buys this stuff?

Sneakers and fantasy taxidermy were some of the biggest surprises of the convention. Sneakers were everywhere this year. Everywhere! There were custom painted shoes, shoe art exhibits, shoe toys, shoe painting kits, free shoe cleaning, and even DesignerCon exclusive sneaker wipes! Also hot in the footwear category were UV-light reactive designs, which will earn you a ton of design points if you spend time under blacklights or impromptu crime scene investigations.

The Anaheim Convention Center, adjacent to Disneyland, is a comfortable venue and offers easy parking. Somewhat centrally located within the Greater-LA area, the Anaheim Convention Center provides travelers from outside the region with multiple airport options and a wide variety of lodging choices. However, on-site dining choices or restaurants within close walking distance are limited. Beware — food truck selections can be hit or miss, and you may experience long waits.

TTDILA fully recommends DesignerCon. If you enjoy the genre of Designer/Art Toys and have a particular interest in vinyl toys and collectables, DesignerCon is worth the trip. Expect to spend a complete day on your feet if you want to explore all the booths or attend artist signing sessions. We classify this event as manageable to do in one day; however, it may be more enjoyable to attend over two or more days. For reference, the TTDILA team spent 13 hours on-location over two days (8.3 miles total walking distance) to adequately cover the event.

Standard tickets will get you through the show. However, the optional VIP upgrade adds flexibility with early access to the exhibit halls on Friday evening and Saturday morning. If you’re hunting for limited edition merchandise, or want to skip the Saturday main entrance queue, consider the VIP route.

beamo Laser Cutter / Engraver Review

 Cache

I dabble in pretty much every bit of tech out there, but there are two bits of tech that really interest me and I’ve never yet got involved with. The first is 3D printing (I still haven’t gone there, but I feel the time is coming) and the second is laser engraving and cutting. I’m not sure what the fascination is with the latter for me (maybe it’s the ‘freaking laser!’ factor), I’m not particularly craft or artistic, but I’ve always just thought the ability to engrave artwork onto stuff is fascinating.

With this in mind, when I was asked if I wanted to review the Flux beamo, a new Kickstarter project looking to democratise laser engraving and cutting, I just couldn’t say no!

Flux? Who?

It’s probably worth starting with a few words on Flux themselves. Of course, when backing a Kickstarter project, the first concern is often ‘am I going to see the product I’m backing’? Thankfully, Flux has a solid pedigree in this regard so for once this is a Kickstarter you can enter with confidence. Taiwan based Flux was founded in 2014 with the goal of making 3D printing accessible to all. $1.6m of Kickstarter funding later saw the release of the critically acclaimed Flux Delta, a modular 3D printer that combined laser engraving and drawing.

So what is the beamo?

The beamo laser cutter and engraver packs a powerful 30W CO2 laser into an impressively small footprint that’s barely bigger than 4 sheets of A4 paper. It weighs in at 22Kg and it’ll fit in nicely with the most compact of homes or offices, not least because of its smart industrial design. Utilising the classic Flux approach, the design blends cutting-edge technology (pun intended) with impressive approachability, quality and functionality. While it might look like a well thought out consumer product, Beamo actually includes features only normally found in industrial-grade laser cutters including closed-loop, maintenance free water-cooling, a 1,000 DPI laser that is smaller than the width of a human hair with 0.05mm layer depth, an optional rotary add-on for engraving curved objects and even an optional diode laser and CO2 laser for improved cutting speed and efficiency.

But what’s it like?

By far the best way for me to review the beamo is to talk about my experience as a complete engraving / cutting / 3D printing novice. Honestly, it couldn’t have been any more straightforward.

The machine comes well packed in a huge box with everything you need to get started included. Take the beamo out of the box, plug in the Wi-Fi adaptor if required, affix the extraction hose to the back with a jubilee clip (it’s just like a tumble dryer hose), plug it into the mains and turn it on. It really is as simple as that to set up.

At this point the huge display on the right of the device (which looks to be Raspberry Pi powered by the way!) springs into life and you’ll quickly arrive at a straightforward touchscreen UI for controlling the machine. From here you can configure Wi-Fi details or view the Ethernet connection details, which will provide you with an IP address you’ll use to connect from your PC.

beamo-working.png

On your PC or Mac you’ll need to download the Beam Studio application which connects to the beamo using the IP address displayed on your machine. A standard sample print is included (together with a small piece of wood in the box, a lovely touch!) to let you quickly and easily see the machine in action. It’s rather impressive!

The sample project loads up and has a beamo logo set to engrave and a circle around it set to cut. When kicking it off for the first time and seeing the engraving in action, it’s incredibly cool and exciting, but when it cuts – wow, that’s when it really gets taken to the next level. This thing is AWESOME!

beamo-bitmoji.png

After trying the demo project, setting up your own is incredibly easy. The Beam Studio app can import all types of files (including bitmaps, not just vectors), it can convert to monochrome or grayscale and it includes a wide range of presets for different types of materials. After starting the job, the display on the machine itself helps you keep track of progress and there’s a handy ‘abort’ option on the touchscreen display should things go awry. The beamo can engrave and cut cardboard, wood, bamboo, leather and acrylic and engrave fabric, rubber, cement (!), glass, stone, anode metal or stainless steel (with the diode laser). I’ve been a bit of a maniac and shoved all sorts of things in the machine from phone cases to Moleskine diaries to wallets and its handled everything with aplomb. It’s so easy to use and fun, you won’t be able to help yourself.

beamo-moleskine.png

By far my favourite beamo feature is its built in camera. This allows you to take a picture of the bed with your material in place to allow you to perfectly align your image and ensure that things get engraved or cut in the correctly place. The only other action that needs to be completed before kicking off the job is focusing the laser, which is as simple as raising / lowering the laser unit against an acrylic guide (an autofocus mod is available for an additional cost).

The reviewers guide for beamo suggested keeping a fire extinguisher nearby was a good idea, which makes sense, but on the whole beamo is designed to be as safe as possible. All fumes are vented out the back by a powerful fan and the machine pauses immediately if the lid is opened.

beamo-phonecase.png

Should I buy a beamo?

The $849 cost of entry for beamo is no small chunk of change, but my word, what a machine you get for your money. You’ll quickly find yourself inundated with requests from friends to engrave things and you’ll find yourself looking at everything in a new way with a ‘does it engrave’ thought in your mind.

Flux have done an astonishingly good job of making laser tooling available to everyone and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend adding the beamo to your arsenal.

Head on across to Kickstarter to back the campaign!

Omega + ethernet + wifi + Class D Audio Amplifier = DIY Musiccast speaker

 Cache

"Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back before the morn."
-- said the RAF pilot who never returned...

Pretty simple to say it out loud, I want to use my existing passive stereo speakers from the 20th century incorporating Onion components (CPU, wifi, ethernet) with a stereo component like the Adafruit MAX9744 (or, one from parts-express) into a franken-cast speaker.

Basically, the easiest way to make a speaker work with Musiccast is to connect the speaker to the network through ethernet, connect it to the app, change the connection to wireless, then disconnect from ethernet.

I know how to create bluetooth speakers but I have all these nice Onion components lying around collecting dust, so...

  1. Make sure I can replicate https://onion.io/2bt-omega-i2s-audio/
  2. Create the circuitry to dry run it on a breadboard with small throwaway speakers
  3. Create a 3D printer internal case for the speaker cabinet
  4. Solder everything up and hope it works?

Any advice?

Mini John Cooper Works GP revealed at 2019 LA auto show

 Cache

Mini has revealed its fastest road-going model yet, the John Cooper Works GP, at the 2019 Los Angeles auto show. Limited to just 3,000 units globally, the GP features a number of mechanical and cosmetic changes to make it lighter and faster than the standard three-door John Cooper Works (JCW).

Starting with the engine, the 2.0-litre turbo petrol now develops 306hp and 450Nm – significantly exceeding the output of the same unit in the 231hp/320Nm JCW model. The GP is capable of sprinting from 0-100kph in a claimed 5.2sec and has a top speed of 264kph.

Most of the GP’s extra power comes from the new turbocharger. The motor’s compression ratio is reduced to cope with the extra boost pressure, and a new intake duct and new multi-hole injectors (with up to 350bar of pressure) also feature, as does a GP-specific oil sump.

A new exhaust system is said to bring sound effects 'inspired by motor racing'. Also taken from the firm’s racing expertise is a newly developed cooling system.

Power is sent to the front wheels through an 8-speed automatic gearbox with steering-wheel-mounted shift paddles. A mechanical differential lock helps channel the healthy power output smoothly.

Externally, the most notable additions are a giant roof spoiler with double-wing contours, a new front apron design and special wheel-arch extender panels made of lightweight carbonfibre-reinforced plastic and dubbed ‘spats’ by Mini engineers.

The material for the spats is recycled from the production process of the i3 and i8 of Mini parent company BMW. With an exposed matte finish, the front arch panels each feature the car’s specific build number. The body itself is available exclusively in metallic grey, with silver and red details.

The GP’s body structure is said to be “extremely rigid”, with new supports, members and strut braces. The suspension was developed from extensive Nürburgring testing. The track widths are increased and the body is lowered by 10mm over the standard JCW, while a host of new parts and extra front camber reduce roll and improve grip.

The dynamic stability control setup has a GP-specific mode that relaxes the system’s intervention. The new sports braking system (in conjunction with lightweight forged wheels) features four-piston front callipers for greater stability and braking power.

Inside, the John Cooper Works GP gets just two seats. Combined with less acoustic insulation, the shedding of its rear seats contributes to a reduced, 1,255kg kerb weight – 85kg lighter than the normal JCW. New 3D-printed honeycomb metal shift paddles feature, and 3D printing has also been used for the passenger dashboard panel, where the car’s build number is displayed.

Despite the pared-back approach, the GP can still be equipped with sat-nav, wireless charging and heated front seats. It also gets the digital instrument cluster from the Mini Electric as standard.

Mini marked its 60th anniversary this year along with rolling out its 10 millionth car from its plant in Oxford UK. For the Indian market, the company has had a relatively quiet year which saw the introduction of the above mentioned 231hp JCW model and a limited-run Black Edition iteration of the Countryman. Mini could bring the JCW GP to India but expect numbers to be very limited and the price to be higher than the standard JCW.

Study Compares Resource Consumption of Additive and Conventional Manufacturing

 Cache
In a study called Ecological and Economic Assessment of Resource Expenditure: Additive Manufacturing Processes in Industrial Production, the VDI Centre for Resource Efficiency (VDI ZRE) in Berlin, Germany, used a damper fork for a passenger car to compare the resource consumption of an additive manufacturing process with a conventional manufacturing process, examining a medium-sized series production. Conventionally, this consists of a dropforged aluminum-casting alloy and weighs 1.3 kg. Production includes the casting production steps of drop forging, deburring, heat treatment and milling. For the additive manufacturing process, laser beam melting (LBM) was chosen. For this process, two different aluminum powders were melted locally and applied layer by layer on a base plate. The result 3D printing consumed more energy, more raw materials, more water and more space and produced more greenhouse gas emissions than conventional production. The report goes on to say that expected technical improvements to the LBM plant in the future will greatly reduce the environmental impact and costs and that the gap between conventional and additive manufacturing will narrow in the medium term in terms of economic efficiency and resource efficiency. The study shows that it is necessary to evaluate carefully additive and conventional manufacturing processes. In the case of the damper fork, the mass reduction achieved by additive manufacturing is negligible and has no effect on the fuel consumption of the car. However, the situation is different in aerospace, medical technology and bionic product concepts. In these cases, lighter components can achieve greater savings during the utilization phase.

[ Recent Exhibitions ]Digitized Traditional Artistry

 Cache
With rapid development of technology, digital culture has become an inevitable element in social, cultural, artistic, and economic dimensions. The application of “digitization” transforms the existed achievement of traditional arts through various digital technologies for the purposes of archiving or exhibiting. In recent years, art galleries, museums, and private institutions around the world have all strived for digital archiving, exhibition and promotion; regardless of formats, the interdisciplinary integration of traditional arts and contemporary digital technologies has made media technology a unique creative medium, which utilizes the interactive and participatory nature of digitalization for production, exhibition, archiving, and display. From the perspectives of technology, aesthetics, and related concepts, digital media technologies have become kinds of “visual interpretive programs.” As for how to represent the images of traditional cultural arts? In what formats? How do the chosen formats of representation connect with exhibition designs of museums? What hidden meanings are added to important information and images? When creators integrate technological images into existing formats of works, how do they give traditional cultural products deeper meanings, so that the cultural products and other elements of exhibitions fuse to create perfect proportions? These are all important topics in contemporary digital translation.

The combination of contemporary arts and culture and the development of digital technology brings transcending changes to the originally one-on-one relationship of artistic creation between “the creator and created.” “Re-creation” is the reinterpretation of existing works of art; in addition to manifesting the transformation of traditional cultural arts into contemporary cultural spirit, re-creation is really the self-actualizing process from perception, interpretation, to creation of art. In Taiwan, in terms of technological translation, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) has allocated significant R&D budget to focus on the execution of digital humanities projects, and achieved great results. Furthermore, in the area of cultural conservation, the MOST has also invested substantial resources to promote the conservation of works of traditional art, and strives to consolidate two major domains of culture and technology to build the foundation of social education and promotion. Thus, traditional artworks are converted through digital technology for display, archiving, and value-added utilization, bringing closer learners (viewers) and artworks in the age of technology, enhancing co-participation and social interaction, and conducting participatory “content delivery” through the expansion of interactive information. Domestic and overseas digital archiving and display, as well as means of presentation where digital technologies are applied on archived works, can be categorized into eight major types: archived works as techno-arts, online display of archived works, interactive display, augmented reality, virtual reality, mixed reality, 3D scanning combined with 3D printing, and immersive projection. Applying different display technologies on different cultural artifacts signify the unique characteristics of diverse display technologies and applications. In light of the rapid development of digital technologies, the MOST has supported domestic innovative R&D and research projects of digital technology through research programs and digital humanities programs over the years, hoping to demonstrate the expressiveness of converting traditional culture and folk arts through contemporary technologies, and to explore the textual meaning and temporal significance of these creative practices of techno-arts through related studies.

Therefore, the focus of this curatorial project is on the interwoven dimensions of “research projects of the MOST” and “achievements of display technologies and applications,” in order to depict “the co-constructed and fused picture through intervention of contemporary digital technologies in traditional folk arts” under the theme of “Digitized Traditional Artistry.” In other words, this exhibition targets relative research projects funded by the MOST to focus on research outcomes and related discussions, and sets representation of “traditional folk arts” through different digital technologies as the motif to re-examine how artists in recent years have enhanced Taiwan’s contemporary digital humanities and pluralistic looks of techno-culture through research and practical-based projects.

Avasin osakesäästötilin Nordnetiin

 Cache

Jan Hurrin mielestä osakesäästötili on verotehokas tapa omien säästöjen sähläämiseen. Tämä viittaa siis siihen kun tätä tiliä mainostetaan hyvänä treidaamiseen. Tunnetusti treidaus on monelle hyvä tapa hävitä rahansa hetkessä. Mutta toinen näkökulma on osakesäästötilin olevan hyvä työkalu tällaiselle sivuharrastukselle.

Tästä pienestä aasinsillasta päästäänkin ainoaan tarkoitukseen minkä keksin itselleni osakesäästötilille. Tällä hetkellä minulla on muutama prosentti kokonaissalkusta aika spekulatiivisissa sijoituksissa, vertaislainoissa.

  • Euroopan parhaaksi palkitun, riippumattoman osakeanalyysipalvelu Inderesin Premium-palvelu on maksutta käytössäsi 1.12.2019–29.2.2020.

Evaluating Saudi Aramco’s Green Investments Ahead of Its IPO

 Cache

Investors in Saudi Aramco’s upcoming IPO could be purchasing a stranded asset if the oil behemoth sticks to its guns on fossil fuels.

Despite Saudi Arabia’s big plans for solar and Aramco’s own impressive spend on renewables, the state-owned petrochemical behemoth largely views clean energy as a means to improve the efficiency of extraction, said Bloomberg New Energy Finance oil specialist David Doherty.

That’s not likely to change as Aramco seeks to attract outside investment, Doherty told GTM.

While other major oil and gas firms have started diversifying into clean energy fields ranging from offshore wind to electric vehicle charging, Aramco has “pretty much focused on technologies that can push demand for their products,” he said.

This includes 3D printing, which could boost the market for petrochemical-based composites, as well as carbon capture and storage. The company has invested significant amounts into renewable energies such as solar, but almost entirely with a view to powering extraction or refinery operations, Doherty said.

In terms of diversification, Saudi Aramco has "been pretty lackluster compared to other companies of that size,” he said.

“They’re moving toward using solar panels to power their refineries,” he said, and “looking at securing demand for their products — as opposed to jumping into wind like Equinor or everything like Shell.”

In September, Aramco trumpeted a collaboration with Saudi Arabia’s Power Systems Renewables Department to deploy renewable energy in on- and off-grid oil extraction facilities.

“Over the years, technological improvements and decreasing costs in the energy storage field have made the use of solar photovoltaics and off-the-grid solar photovoltaic energy storage systems preferable to more traditional forms of energy at industrial sites,” the company said.

"The greenest possible barrel"

Aramco’s media relations department confirmed that the company is committed to deploying renewables as a way of reducing emissions from its current operations.

“In order to achieve a low-carbon future, we believe it is necessary to meet both global energy demand for ample, reliable and affordable energy and lower emissions,” the company said in an email.

“That must include responsible investments which reduce the overall carbon footprint of the oil and gas industry and end-use markets.”

Saudi Aramco's clean-energy achievements include “near-zero gas flaring and the lowest carbon intensity of any major oil producer," the company said.

It's researching low-emission transport systems, including next-generation internal combustion engines, “as well as the fuels to power them.”

A tough sell

None of this amounts to an admission that the company intends to diversify away from oil in the future. Instead, said Doherty, “they want to find the greenest possible barrel.”

This does not mean Aramco’s cleantech investments should be ignored. In areas such as carbon capture and storage, a concerted spend by an investor the size of Aramco might have a material impact on the pace of progress.

So far, there is no evidence that a more determined diversification strategy has made companies such as Shell any more palatable to environmentally conscious investors.

In September, Danish pension fund MP Pension joined a growing list of institutional investors divesting from the oil sector, blacklisting 10 companies — including rapidly diversifying majors Shell, Equinor and BP.

Growing animosity toward the oil sector could be a problem for Aramco as it seeks to carry off the biggest IPO in history.

In theory, the fact that it is the most profitable company on the planet would seem to make Aramco a magnet for investors after the Saudi administration announced it was putting 1.5 percent of the business up for sale on Dec. 4.

So far, however, the listing looks likely to be heavily reliant on local investors, having not yet drawn big interest from investors around the world, Reuters reported on November 22.

Concerns over the response to the IPO have already led Aramco to scale back its listing ambitions. On Nov. 17, the company lowered its proposed valuation from $2 trillion to between $1.6 trillion and $1.7 trillion.

At the same time, it canceled investor roadshows in Europe and pulled marketing in American and Asian markets to focus instead on local investors. It remains to be seen whether Middle Eastern backers will be put off by Aramco’s apparent lack of diversification plans.

For any investor looking to put money into Aramco in the long term, the decreasing attraction of oil as an asset should give pause for thought.

"Shell wants to become a big energy company," Doherty said, whereas Aramco's approach amounts to this: "The last barrel to be taken out of the ground will be the cheapest."

Potential Astron power supply failure solved!

 Cache

One of my blog readers informed me regarding the Astron linear power supply that the outer case on the pass transistors at the rear of the supply are live with about 24 volts.  These pass transistors are isolated from the case and the heat sink so the potential is there to inadvertently via a PL259 connector, USB cable or any other conducting item at the rear of your setup to short the pass transistor and destroy them.  This morning I once again was searching the internet to see if anyone had devised a solution for this very issue. I came across a web page . This individual has the RS-35A power supply and came up with a great solution using a 3D printer. Now I am not at all up on the whole 3D printer thing but click on the link  above (web page) and have a look at the pictures they posted. The covers look great and are very professional looking. It would look to me the plans are available to those who have access to a 3D printer to produce the guards them self.  I would really like a set of these for my RS-25 but just short on the 3D printer part of things.
To my fellow bloggers have a look at the above link and do post any 3D printer info you may have as well.

As a side note below are some links to great information regarding Astron power supplies.

Scanning services

I think this can be useful for someone. I've found a list of companies who (https://www.artec3d.com/3d-scanning-services) offer 3d scanning services. It's made like a map. Interesting design I think... Not that comfortable however but might be useful. There's also 3d printing services map (https://www.artec3d.com/3d-printing-services), but it's quite similar.

3D Printing a Skateboard with Carbon Fiber Reinforced PLA Filament

 Cache

James Bruton is an ex-toy-designer (coming from the EE side, not the ID side) who now shares videos of his experiments and inventions on YouTube. Bruton recently got his hands on some of MatterHackers' carbon-fiber-reinforced PLA filament, and 3D-printed it alongside regular PLA to see how it measured up.

His simple test showed the CFR PLA to be roughly 20% stiffer. Then, to put the stuff to more practical use, he printed up an unusual design for a multi-part skateboard, then took it to a skatepark:

By the bye, if you're interested in buying some carbon-fiber-reinforced PLA yourself, here's a link. (Today being Black Friday, MatterHackers' site states that they're offering discounts from today through Cyber Monday, but they don't specify what the discount is.)

Aleph, in response to layoff suit, says it was fundraising before cuts

 Cache
LOVELAND — 3D printing company Aleph Objects broadly denied that it violated federal layoff laws when it cut 90 of its 113 jobs in October, prompting a class-action lawsuit from a former worker. In a response filed with the U.S. District Court of Colorado Friday, Aleph denied allegations by former employee Zachary Hergenreder that the company violated the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act by not giving employees 60 days notice that they were being laid off. Companies with more than 100 employees are required to file advance notices with their state labor departments when laying off more than half of their workforces at a single site. Aleph did not file a notice with the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment, and Hergenreder alleges the company owes back pay and accrued vacation pay to him and about 90 other former workers. Loveland-based Aleph later sold itself to North Dakota-based Fargo Additive Manufacturing Equipment 3D in November for an undisclosed price. The company did not offer any explanations or counter-arguments toward any of the lawsuit’s specific claims. However, Aleph said it was in the middle of seeking funding and new business leads and believed filing a WARN notice would harm its attempt to save the struggling company. The law does offer exemptions for the 60-day warning threshold if it is in the midst of trying to right itself by trying to get new customers or investors. The company also said it gave as much notice as it could to employees who were tapped for layoffs outside of making a public notice. “Defendant gave plaintiff and any unnamed putative class members as much notice of termination and basis for the length of the notification period as was practicable following its unsuccessful efforts to seek capital or business,” Aleph said in its filing. It also said some of the employees laid off were hired on a temporary basis and are not eligible to join a class-action lawsuit. Aleph also argued that employees demanding back wages should be offset by their termination package, and requested the court dismiss the lawsuit with prejudice. Hergenreder’s attorney Mary Olsen did not respond to a request for comment Monday.
