How to work with cookies in ASP.NET Core

 Cache

A cookie is a piece of data typically used to store information about the user and is stored on the user’s computer. In most browsers each cookie is stored as a small file, but in Firefox they are stored all together in a single file. Cookies are represented as key-value pairs, and you can take advantage of the keys to read, write, or delete cookies.

ASP.NET Core uses cookies to maintain session state; the cookie that contains the session ID is sent to the client with each request. This article presents a discussion of how we can work with cookies in ASP.NET Core.

To work with the code examples provided in this article, you should have Visual Studio 2019 installed in your system. If you don’t already have a copy, you can download Visual Studio 2019 here.

You Can't Submit an Electron 6 (or 7) App to the Mac App Store? — Electron is a popular cross-platform app development toolkit maintained by GitHub. The bad news? It uses Chromium which uses several ‘private’ Apple APIs and Apple aren’t keen on accepting apps that use them for a variety of reasons.

Dart 2.6: Now with Native Executable Compilation — Dart began life as a Google built, typed language that compiled to JavaScript but is now a somewhat broader project. Node v13.1.0 (Current) - Node.js Blog

 Cache

Notable Changes

  • cli:
    • Added a new flag (--trace-uncaught) that makes Node.js print the stack trace at the time of throwing uncaught exceptions, rather than at the creation of the Error object, if there is any. This is disabled by default because it affects GC behavior (Anna Henningsen) #30025.
  • crypto:
    • Added Hash.prototype.copy() method. It returns a new Hash object with its internal state cloned from the original one (Ben Noordhuis) #29910.
  • dgram:
    • Added source-specific multicast support. This adds methods to Datagram sockets to support RFC 4607 for IPv4 and IPv6 (Lucas Pardue) #15735.
  • fs:
    • Added a bufferSize option to fs.opendir(). It allows to control the number of entries that are buffered internally when reading from the directory (Anna Henningsen) #30114.

Microsoft: Visual Studio Online launches ( IGNITE )

 Cache

Ignite Visual Studio Online, launches

Microsoft has blank a truckload of recent product announcements at this year’s Ignite, together with a launch date for Edge metal, new integration for the facility Platform together with a recently renamed Flow (it’s Power automatize now), new tools for Microsoft groups, and a replacement service from Azure referred to as Arc, that lets IT execs manage cloud services across cloud platforms (read: on AWS). Microsoft looks out to broadening the scope of Ignite because the scope of IT itself broadens, not being keep regarding Surface product placements and developer targeted news.

Along that front, Microsoft created 2 important dev connected announcements these days. 1st up is that Visual Studio on-line has launched.

This extension of Visual Studio Code Remote Development permits devs to figure from anyplace there’s a browser. Trends in today’s development setting heading towards a lot of remote and freelance work, with a lot of collaboration, and dealing with cloud based mostly workloads that don’t need a robust dev machine, and Visual Studio on-line is made to handle that new approach of operating.

You'll be able to learn a lot of regarding Visual Studio on-line over at Microsoft Docs, and check out it out currently within the browser, connected via Visual Studio Code, or with the Visual Studio non-public Preview.

In addition, Microsoft took time to show some recent enhancements for developers, together with the Alpha of WinUI three, the developer implications of Edge metal nearing launch, and enhancements to WSL2 (the Windows system for Linux). you'll be able to browse a lot of regarding all of the newest developer news on Kevin Gallo’s diary post.

[RESOLVED] Re: How to learn c#

 Cache
---Quote (Originally by Arjay)--- rather than going C++/CLI, I would put my C/C++ code inside a dll and call the dll inside a C# .Net assembly using pinvoke. That way, you can have the code written in C/C++ utilized and get the benefits of coding in a .Net tailored language like C# ---End Quote--- Many thanks Arjay (and 2kaud) for all your help with this. I tried my first tentative steps with C# this morning by building the ConsoleApp sample which comes with VS2019 (it just prints out *Hello World* if run from a Command Prompt). But of course, the generated app is an exe file so it'll only run in Windows. Suppose I wanted to build it so it'd run under OS-X. Can that be done from within my Windows version of VS (i.e. by cross-compiling)? Or can it only be done by building with the Mac version of Visual Studio in OS-X?

D365 Code upgrade - The Model specified on the project cannot be found

 Cache

I've seen an earlier thread discussing the same error, one suggesting that the absence of a model descriptor folder can be an issue, and the apparent MS issue thread, but I don't think I'm encountering either of the first two, so hope someone could please offer guidance.  Example of models that can't be found: (1) "ApplicationSuite.VAR Model" (2) "ApplicationFoundation.VAR Model".

Having gone through the AX 2012 > D365 code upgrade & configured my mappings, I'm at the point of attempting to load the CodeMergeSolution or UpgradedSolution VS projects from the Relase folder created in Azure DevOps.  When I get latest on the Metadata folder, the Visual Studio output window shows that it's getting objects such as AosService\PackagesLocalDirectory\ApplicationFoundation\ApplicationFoundation.VAR Model\AxTable\Delta\PrintMgmtReportFormat.xml  or AOSService\PackagesLocalDirectory\ApplicationSuite\ApplicationSuite.VAR Model\AxTable\Delta\VendTable.xml which suggests to me that the code upgrade has created "sub models" within the standard Application Suite or Application Foundation models.  Should I be trying to merge these change 'down' to the standard models somehow?  I'm pretty confident this isn't yet at the point of merging into the Main branch, though the instruction "If you are migrating from Dynamics AX 2012 R3 or earlier, you will be mapping to the metadata folder under the Main branch." within Configure VSO solution mapping section leaves an element of doubt.

Need advice on how to get Visual Studio 2013 Tools for 2012 R3 installed

 Cache

Greetings all,

I am currently trying to install Visual Studio 2013 Tools for 2012 R3 CU13. After researching the issue, I figured out the reason I can't get it to work is that the administrator who set up the development server I am trying to install the tools on installed AX2012 R3 RTM first and then applied the CU13 update. When I attempted to install the VS 2013 Tools via the setup.exe I had access to, it was the RTM setup and even though it listed VS 2013 Tools as something I could install, it would fail, stating that it couldn't find the package (which makes sense, since the RTM had tools for working with VS 2010 and the package shouldn't exist.) However, since the RTM installer doesn't work, I am at a bit of a loss as to how to get VS Tools 2013 installed, as I also tried to do so via the AXUpdate executable in our CU13 folder, but it never gave me an option for installing VS 2013 Tools.

My sysadmin is out of town until next week and I would like to make some progress on this. The server itself is running AX2012 R3 CU13 so the update technically isn't necessary. Does anyone know how I can get these tools installed?

Thanks.

Brandt
